  abstract     = {{Plasmonic nanoantennas for visible and infrared radiation strongly improve the interaction of light with the matter on the nanoscale due to their strong near-field enhancement. In this study, we investigate a double-resonant plasmonic nanoantenna, which makes use of plasmonic field enhancement, enhanced outcoupling of second harmonic light, and resonant lattice effects. Using this design, we demonstrate how the efficiency of second harmonic generation can be increased significantly by fully embedding the nanoantennas into nonlinear dielectric material ZnO, instead of placing them on the surface. Investigating two different processes, we found that the best fabrication route is embedding the gold nanoantennas in ZnO using an MBE overgrowth process where a thin ZnO layer was deposited on nanoantennas fabricated on a ZnO substrate. In addition, second harmonic generation measurements show that the embedding leads to an enhancement compared to the emission of nanoantennas placed on the ZnO substrate surface. These promising results facilitate further research to determine the influence of the periodicity of the nanoantenna arrangement of the resulting SHG signal.}},

  abstract     = {{<jats:p>The nonlinear processes of frequency conversion such as second harmonic generation (SHG) usually obey certain selection rules, resulting from the preservation of different kinds of physical quantities, e.g. the angular momentum. For the SHG created by a monolayer of transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) such as WS<jats:sub>2</jats:sub>, the valley-exciton locked selection rule predicts an SHG signal in the cross-polarization state. By combining plasmonic nanostructures with a monolayer of TMDC, a hybrid metasurface is realized, which affects this nonlinear process because of an additional polarization conversion process. Here, we observe that the plasmonic metasurface modifies the light-matter interaction with the TMDC, resulting in an SHG signal that is co-polarized with respect to the incident field, which is usually forbidden for the monolayers of TMDC. We fabricate such hybrid metasurfaces by placing plasmonic nanorods on top of a monolayer WS<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> and study the valley-exciton locked SHG emission from such system for different parameters, such as wavelength and polarization. Furthermore, we show the potential of the hybrid metasurface for tailoring nonlinear processes by adding additional phase information to the SHG signal using the Pancharatnam-Berry phase effect. This allows direct tailoring of the SHG emission to the far-field.</jats:p>}},

  abstract     = {{Nonlinear Pancharatnam–Berry phase metasurfaces facilitate the nontrivial phase modulation for frequency conversion processes by leveraging photon‐spin dependent nonlinear geometric‐phases. However, plasmonic metasurfaces show some severe limitation for nonlinear frequency conversion due to the intrinsic high ohmic loss and low damage threshold of plasmonic nanostructures. Here, the nonlinear geometric‐phases associated with the third‐harmonic generation process occurring in all‐dielectric metasurfaces is studied systematically, which are composed of silicon nanofins with different in‐plane rotational symmetries. It is found that the wave coupling among different field components of the resonant fundamental field gives rise to the appearance of different nonlinear geometric‐phases of the generated third‐harmonic signals. The experimental observations of the nonlinear beam steering and nonlinear holography realized in this work by all‐dielectric geometric‐phase metasurfaces are well explained with the developed theory. This work offers a new physical picture to understand the nonlinear optical process occurring at nanoscale dielectric resonators and will help in the design of nonlinear metasurfaces with tailored phase properties.}},

  abstract     = {{To  decide  in  which  part  of  town to  open  stores,  high  street  retailers consult  statistical  data  on  customers  and  cities,  but  they  cannot  analyze  their customers’  shopping  behavior  and  geospatial  features  of  a  city  due  to  missing data.  While  previous  research  has  proposed  recommendation  systems  and decision  aids  that  address  this  type  of  decision  problem –  including  factory location  and  assortment  planning –  there  currently  is no design  knowledge available  to  prescribe  the  design  of  city  center  area  recommendation  systems (CCARS).   We   set   out   to   design   a   software   prototype   considering   local customers’  shopping  interests  and  geospatial  data  on  their  shopping  trips  for retail site selection.  With real data on 500 customers and 1,100 shopping trips, we demonstrate and evaluate our IT artifact. Our results illustrate how retailers and public town center managers can use CCARS for spatial location selection, growing retailers’ profits and a city center’s attractiveness for its citizens.}},

Der vorliegende Beitrag befasst sich mit der Fragestellung, wie sich diagrammatisches Schlie{\ss}en bei Lernenden rekonstruieren l{\"{a}}sst.   abstract     = {{The Enlightenment is well known for its critical analysis of the Bible. Though the Renaissance sources have been acknowledged as an inspiration of this movement, the Querelle des Femmes and its critique of the Bible has never been considered as a possible catalyst for the enlightened philosophical discourse. For centuries women have fought against interpretations of the Bible.This paper argues that the Querelle des Femmes criticized the Bible not only because of its patriarchal content but also criticized philosophical thinking that, for supporting the views from the Bible and its misogynist stance, misusing the instruments of rational philosophy. Arguments from 1400-1750, from Nogarola to Du Châtelet proof women philosophers’ fight in favour of a critique of the bible from a rational point of view, reflecting also on the status of what it meant, to argue rationally.}},
