  abstract     = {{
A common challenge of punch-bending is the control and compensation of process deviations which are induced, e.g., by different material batches. The resulting deviations are currently countered iteratively using expert knowledge in the design phase as well as during the production process. However, this is not always successful due to the complex interactions between semi-finished product properties and forming tools. To automate the optimization of tool geometries and process adjustments, an accurate prediction model of correlations between process/tool parameters and product properties is necessary. In that regard, an application programming interface (API) aligned with the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) specification is developed utilizing a hybrid data-driven approach. It enables the transformation of various data formats e.g., from sensor and simulation data into a machine-readable structure. The API is linked to a digital twin and a database, to automatically gather requested information and provide the new structured data to a machine learning (ML) model. To validate the developed method, hybrid punch-bending data is automatically transferred to an ML model which then returns tool geometry suggestions for a defined product geometry.
}},

abstract = {{ Augmented Reality (AR) enables the presentation of models at the submicroscopic level during chemical hands-on experiments and may thus support learners in connecting macroscopic observations, submicroscopic processes, and symbolic representations. Such connections are essential for understanding chemical phenomena, yet many students struggle to establish them, leading to fragmented or purely descriptive explanations. However, little is known about how AR influences the structure and quality of learner-generated explanations during experimentation. In this quasi-experimental pre-post study, three conditions were compared in grade 11 chemistry classes: AR, animation, and filmstrip. Students (N = 104) worked in pairs on two acid-base experiments and created explanatory screencasts, which were analyzed in two complementary ways: network analysis was used to examine transitions between representational levels, while a separate holistic coding scheme was applied to assess overall explanatory quality. Across both experiments, students in the AR group integrated submicroscopic entities into their explanations more frequently than students in the other groups. However, this increased integration was not consistently associated with higher explanatory quality. The findings suggest that AR can foster representational integration, but that explicit scaffolding might be necessary to translate this into high-quality causal explanations.}},

abstract = {{In increasingly volatile and uncertain markets, corporate resilience has become a critical capability in strategic product planning. Companies face significant challenges in systematically monitoring and interpreting heterogeneous environmental data originating from diverse sources, formats, and temporal contexts. While predefined workflows and decision trees can support strategic analysis, they often lack the flexibility required to cope with dynamic market conditions and foresightrelated data from extreme dispersed and heterogeneous sources. This paper proposes a method to enhance corporate resilience through the application of generic, reusable AI-based workflows in strategic product planning. The approach integrates Data Science and Artificial Intelligence methods into modular, visually modelled workflows that enable hybrid human-AI decision-making. Based on a systematic literature review and an analysis of industrial challenges, key success factors and resilience criteria are identified. These insights are used to develop a method that supports internal and external analyses, scenario-based strategy development, and adaptive implementation monitoring within a generic workflow structure. The method leverages techniques such as machine learning and generative AI to process structured and unstructured data, identify patterns, and support real-time strategic assessments. Validation with decision-makers from medium-sized companies demonstrates improved transparency, repeatability, and cross-functional collaboration compared to predefined workflows.}},

abstract = {{This research article addresses the critical gap in describing human capabilities for assembly, disassembly and reassembly processes in production systems at a granular level. As circular economy principles become essential in manufacturing, understanding production-centered capabilityr equirements is increasingly vital. While most metadata models focus on technical resources, existing human capability models either focus narrowly on human-robot collaboration or lack integration across diverse capability dimensions. This study conducts a systematic literature review following the PRISMA scheme, examining different scientific databases to develop a comprehensive, production-centered metadata model. The resulting model formalizes three fundamental classes as well as two supplemental classes for describing human resources while incorporating knowledge and possible legal requirements essential for production environments. The present article proposes a holistic integration of capabilities from a human factor perspective, with the objective of facilitating data science and artificial intelligence approaches to inform decisions in the product creation process. The developed metadata model provides the foundation for decision support systems that match human capabilities to specific production tasks and requirements, advancing circular manufacturing practices and sustainable production system design.}},

The increasing use of aluminium alloys and ultra-high-strength steels, such as CP1000, in automotive lightweight design imposes stringent requirements on mechanical joining technologies. Self-piercing riveting (SPR) is widely used in multi-material structures; however, conventional rivet systems are limited ranges of material and sheet thickness. To address this limitation, Kappe et al. introduced versatile self-piercing riveting (V-SPR), which combines an extended punch actuator with a multi-range-capable rivet to enable joining of materials with tensile strengths up to 600 MPa without tool changes.

This study presents a comparative investigation of a multi-range-capable rivet for V-SPR and conventional standard rivets in CP1000–aluminium and aluminium–aluminium joints. The analysis focuses on joint formation and mechanical performance under shear-tensile and cross-tensile loading. Metallographic cross-sections are used to characterise interlock formation, minimum die-side material thickness, and failure modes. Mechanical performance is evaluated using quasi-static tests, with emphasis on maximum load and failure mode. The experiments establish a demonstrated joinability matrix for the investigated sheet-thickness combinations using adapted punch and die motions. The results demonstrate the applicability of V-SPR to ultra-high-strength steel–aluminium and aluminium–aluminium joints. For the most industrially relevant combination investigated, St1.5–Al2.0 (CP1000–EN AW-6014), V-SPR achieves mechanical performance comparable to or higher than that of standard SPR while substantially reducing tool complexity through a single multi-range-capable rivet, a reduced die configuration, and fewer stack-specific changeovers. However, the independently driven inner and outer punches and active die increase actuator and control-system complexity.
