  abstract     = {{The state of the art industrial manufacturing process to produce shafts as counter surfaces for radial shaft seal rings is plunge grinding. This process consists of three major steps. The blank is turned to a slight diameter-oversize followed by the heat treatment and the hard-finishing by plunge grinding. The geometric surface structures of the resulting shafts in general exhibit a stochastic distribution. These surface characteristics contribute to a reliable and stable sealing functionality. And the surface and subsurface hardness generally leads to a higher wear resistance of the shaft. Motivated by economic benefits and in order to achieve a compact production process for at least ten years, turning is investigated as an alternative manufacturing process. However due to the resulting lead structure on the shaft surface and the associated risk of leakage it has not become prevalent yet. In this paper turned shafts of the metastable austenitic steel AISI 347 (1.4550, X6CrNiNb1810) are investigated as alternative material for counter surfaces of radial shaft seal rings and compared to turned shafts of carburized AISI 5115 (1.7131, 16MnCr5). In addition to surfaces dry turned at room-temperature, cryogenic turned AISI 347 counter surfaces are analyzed. By applying cryogenic cooling, the formation of deformation-induced α′-martensite in the surface layer is possible during the turning process. Endurance tests in radial shaft seal ring test rigs are performed and complemented with detailed investigations of microstructure, micro-hardness and surface topography. The results are compared to results of state of the art ground AISI 5115 shafts.}},

Die beste Modellanpassung im Rahmen einer kon rmatorischen Faktorenanalyse zur Prüfung der Konstruktvalidität erreicht ein Modell mit sechs korrelierten Faktoren. It is now impossible to manually analyze all this information and new approaches are needed that are capable of processing the large-scale heterogeneous data in order to extract the pertinent information. The Wikipedia community still puts much effort in manually adding structured data to biographical articles, the so-called {{Persondata}} template. Thanks to this kind of metadata, semantically-enriched information concerning the biographee (e.g. name, date of birth, place of birth) can be extracted and processed by search engines. But it is a rather time-consuming task and users quite often forget to add this template: some biographies contain persondata, others do not. There is considerably less work done on developing approaches to automatically enhance English Wikipedia biographies with persondata and therefore improve the quality of structured user contributions. Within this paper, we describe our method to automatically generate persondata from biographical information in Wikipedia articles.}},

To this end, we try to find the most efficient method to disambiguate the sense of the acronym. Comparing the various feature types, we found that using single noun (NN) overwhelmingly outperformed noun phrase (NP) base. Moreover, the result also showed that collocation information (CL) was not efficient for enhancing performance considering a huge extra data processing. We present a tool, which identifies subjective and aspect phrases in German product reviews. For the recognition of subjective phrases, we pursue a lexicon-based approach. For the extraction of aspect phrases from the reviews, we consider two possible ways: Besides the subjectivity and aspect look-up, we also implemented a method to establish which subjective phrase belongs to which aspect. The system achieves better results for the recognition of aspect phrases than for the subjective identification.}},

  abstract     = {{In this paper, we present a system which makes scientific data available following the linked open data principle using standards like RDF and URI as well as the popular D2R server (D2R) and the customizable D2RQ mapping language. Our scientific data sets include acronym data and expansions, as well as researcher data such as author name, affiliation, coauthors, and abstracts. The system can easily be extended to other records. Regarding this, a domain adaptation to patent mining seems possible. For this reason, obvious similarities and differences are presented here. The data set is collected from several different providers like publishing houses and digital libraries, which follow different standards in data format and structure. Most of them are not supporting semantic web technologies, but the legacy HTML standard. The integration of these large amounts of scientific data into the Semantic Web is challenging and it needs flexible data structures to access this information and interlink them. Based on these data sets, we will be able to derive a general technology trend as well as the individual research domain for each researcher. The goal of our Linked Open Data System for scientific data is to provide access to this data set for other researchers using the Web of Linked Data. Furthermore we implemented an application for visualization, which allows usto explorethe relations between single data sets.}},

  abstract     = {{Joining metals using electrochemical support (ECUF) is a new process for cold pressure welding sheets and parts. This new process is based on an electrochemical in-line surface treatment followed by incremental pilger rolling. The ECUF process intends to cold pressure weld materials under optimized conditions. Oxide layers on metal surfaces are known to inhibit the formation of cold pressure welds. The in-line electrochemical treatment will be used to remove these surface oxides for specific engineering metals and alloys. Hence, an improved pressure weld formation at lower forces and smaller reduction ratios is expected for the electrochemically treated surfaces. Using a more flexible pressure welding process, the number of applications could be greatly improved. First tests with copper were performed to analyse the efficiency of the proposed electrochemical surface treatments. Two electrochemical treatments, the cathodic oxide-reduction and cyclovoltammetric oxide-reduction, were compared with conventional treatments (degreasing and scratch brushing) regarding their influence on the cold pressure welding process of copper. The weld strength of lap welds has been investigated as well as the necessary reduction threshold to form a weld. It was found that the electrochemical oxide reduction resulted in higher weld strength. The results of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive analysis of X-rays (EDX) indicate that surface oxides were successfully removed by the electrochemical surface treatments.   abstract     = {{In order to increase mechanical strength, heat dissipation and ampacity and to decrease failure through fatigue fracture, wedge copper wire bonding is being introduced as a standard interconnection method for mass production. To achieve the same process stability when using copper wire instead of aluminum wire a profound understanding of the bonding process is needed. Due to the higher hardness of copper compared to aluminum wire it is more difficult to approach the surfaces of wire and substrate to a level where van der Waals forces are able to arise between atoms. Also, enough friction energy referred to the total contact area has to be generated to activate the surfaces. Therefore, a friction model is used to simulate the joining process. This model calculates the resulting energy of partial areas in the contact surface and provides information about the adhesion process of each area. The focus here is on the arising of micro joints in the contact area depending on the location in the contact and time. To validate the model, different touchdown forces are used to vary the initial contact areas of wire and substrate. Additionally, a piezoelectric tri-axial force sensor is built up to identify the known phases of pre-deforming, cleaning, adhering and diffusing for the real bonding process to map with the model. Test substrates as DBC and copper plate are used to show the different formations of a wedge bond connection due to hardness and reaction propensity. The experiments were done by using 500 $\mu$m copper wire and a standard V-groove tool.}},

  abstract     = {{Nowadays wire bonding is a widely-used technology for interconnecting chips in the packaging industry. Thereby, it is known that the bond quality massively depends upon the microstructure prevailing in the bond and consequently the materials used as well as the bonding parameters. However the actually used materials such as aluminum and gold are either characterized by comparibly poor conductivity or high costs, respectively. Due to its outstanding properties copper is a more attractive candidate. Still, a thorough investigation on the interrelationship between the material combinations, the processing parameters and the resulting microstructure for copper and aluminum wire bonding was not carried out yet. Depending on the aforementioned factors the microstructural evolution can be completely different during the bonding process. Therefore, this study focuses on the microstructural evolution of heavy copper and heavy aluminum wires bonded on copper substrates. The evolution of the wire microstructure as well as the wire-substrate-interface was investigated by scanning electron microscope in combination with electron backscatter diffraction and microhardness measurements. Various samples were extracted at different points of the bonding process, namely the as-received condition, after touchdown and after completed bonding. The results of the aluminum and copper wires were compared to each other in both longitudinal and transversal direction. It was found, that the two wire materials were completely different in the as-received condition regarding the grain size, the grain morphology, the texture and the microhardness. After touchdown the microstructure did not show significant changes in both materials, yet a strain-hardening was observed in the copper wire resulting from the touchdown force. When the bonding process was completed a different microstructure could be observed in both the wire as well as the layer for the materials investigated. Furthermore, a destinctive increase in the wire hardness could be found in case of copper, which was not observed for the aluminum wire. The ramifications between the two wire materials presented in this work will be discussed with the objective of optimizing the quality of the bonds.}},

  abstract     = {{With the paradigm shift towards prognostic and health management (PHM) of machinery, there is need for reliable PHM methodologies with narrow error bounds to allow maintenance engineers take decisive maintenance actions based on the prognostic results. Prognostics is mainly concerned with the estimation of the remaining useful life (RUL) or time to failure (TTF). The accuracy of PHM methods is usually a function of the features extracted from the raw data obtained from sensors. In cases where the extracted features do not display clear degradation trends, for instance highly loaded bearings, the accuracy of the state of the art PHM methods is significantly affected. The data which lacks clear degradation trend is referred to as non-trending data. This study presents a method for extracting degradation trends from non-trending condition monitoring data for RUL estimation. The raw signals are first filtered using a discrete wavelet transform (DWT) denoising filter to remove noise from the acquired signals. Time domain, frequency domain and time-frequency domain features are then extracted from the filtered signals. An autoregressive model is then applied to the extracted features to identify the degradation trends. Features representing the maximum health information are then selected based on a performance evaluation criteria using extreme learning machine (ELM) algorithm. The selected features can then be used as inputs in a prognostic algorithm. The feasibility of the method is demonstrated using experimental bearing vibration data.
