  abstract     = {{
Abstract. Climate change, rare resources and industrial transformation processes lead to a rising demand of multi-complex lightweight forming parts, especially in aerospace and automotive sectors. In these industries, flow forming is often used to produce cylindrical forming parts by reducing the wall thickness of tubular semifinished parts, e.g. for the production of hydraulic cylinders or gear shafts. The complexity and functionality of flow forming workpieces could be significantly increased by locally graded microstructure and geometry structures. This enables customized complex hardness distributions at wear surfaces or magnetic QR codes for a unique, tamper-proof product identification. The production of those complex, 2D (axial and angular) graded forming parts currently depicts a great challenge for the process and requires new solutions and strategies. Hence, this paper proposes a novel control strategy that includes online measurements from an absolute encoder to determine the angular workpiece position. Workpieces of AISI 304L stainless steel with 2D-graded structures are successfully manufactured using this new strategy and analyzed regarding the possible accuracy and resolution of the gradation. At this point, a dependency of the gradations on the sensor and actuator dynamics, accuracy and geometry could be noted. It is further evaluated how the control strategy could be extended by an observer-based closed-loop property control approach to enhance the accuracy of the suggested strategy.
}},

Their effect was tested on attention to specific action elements (goal) as well as on event memory. In an eye-tracking experiment, participants were shown different motion videos that were either contrastive or non-contrastive with respect to the segments of movement presentation. Given that everyday action demonstration is often multimodal, the stimuli were created with re- spect to their visual and verbal presentation. For visual presentation, a video combined two movements in a contrastive (e.g., Up-motion following a Down-motion) or non-contrastive way (e.g., two Up-motions following each other). For verbal presentation, each video was combined with a sequence of instruction descriptions in the form of negative (i.e., contrastive) or assertive (i.e., non-contrastive) guidance. It was found that a) attention to the event goal increased for this condition in the later time window, and b) participants’ recall of the event was facilitated when a visually contrastive motion was combined with a verbal contrast.</p>}},

We address this issue by simultaneously estimating the system’s states
and its model inaccuracies by a square root unscented Kalman filter (SRUKF). Concretely,
we augment the state with the parameter vector of a linear combination containing suitable
functions that approximate the lacking dynamics. Presuming that only a few dynamical terms
are relevant, the parameter vector is claimed to be sparse. In Bayesian setting, properties like
sparsity are expressed by a prior distribution. One common choice for sparsity is a Laplace
distribution. However, due to disadvantages of a Laplacian prior in regards to the SRUKF,
the regularized horseshoe distribution, a Gaussian that approximately features sparsity, is
applied instead. Results exhibit small estimation errors with model improvements detected by
an automated model reduction technique.}},

The paper presents a content-related approach to analyzing diagnostic thinking processes with respect to the mathematical knowledge elements that prospective teachers identify as students’ resources and obstacles. Prospective teachers’ challenge is that some relevant knowledge elements first have to be unpacked, because compact concepts (such as the place value concept) or procedures (such as for multi-digit multiplication) comprise several smaller knowledge elements (such as the positional property) that have to be made explicit for students to foster their learning processes adequately. Our study examines what knowledge elements prospective teachers perceive and interpret in a transcript vignettes on multi-digit multiplication (of decimal and natural numbers) and its underlying basic arithmetic concepts (place value understanding and meaning of multiplication) in written diagnostic judgments on students’ resources and obstacles (N = 196). A comparative design within the vignette is used to investigate how far the process of perceiving can be supported by thematic cues. The analysis reveals that those knowledge elements cued in the vignette by being already unpacked and explicitly addressed are perceived and interpreted more often (but with lower correctness) than those that are uncued and therefore have to be unpacked by the prospective teachers themselves. This confirms the need to prepare prospective teachers for unpacking mathematical concepts themselves.
}},

The surface treatment of the specimens resulted in increased single-lap shear (SLS) strengths before and after hydrothermal aging in 80°C hot water compared to nonpretreated reference specimens. In order to reveal the correlations of laser parameters, resulting surface morphologies and the SLS strength, differently laser pretreated surfaces were characterized at the micro- and nanoscale using optical and scanning electron microscopies. The surface enlargement was quantified with a digital image analysis of cross-sections prepared from the joint interfaces. An analysis of variances (ANOVA) of the SLS results indicated that the laser parameters power and pulse frequency were most critical for obtaining high SLS strengths. Pretreated joint surfaces with a high micro- and nano-surface enlargement and deep solidification structures provide high SLS strengths of up to 50 MPa and almost negligible aging losses of merely 4%. Undercut structures on the pretreated surfaces were found to be beneficial for the mechanical and aging properties when only limited micro- and nanostructuring was applied.}},

Single-lap shear tests were performed on hybrid AW 6082-T6–CFRP specimens pretreated with the same pulsed laser surface parameter sets on the metal surface as previously tested, AW 6082-T6–E320 metal adhesive joints. The fracture surfaces were characterized to determine the type of failure and elucidate differences and commonalities in the link between surface structures and single-lap shear strengths. Digital image analyses of the hybrid specimens’ fractured surfaces were used to quantify remaining CFRP fragments on the metallic joint side. The results indicate that high surface enlargements and the presence of undercut structures lead to single-lap shear strengths exceeding 40 MPa and 35 MPa for unaged and aged hybrid specimens, respectively. Whereas for the metal–polymer joints, the trend from high strength to weakly bonded specimens is largely continuous with the degree of surface structuring, hybrid metal–CFRP joints exhibit a drastic drop in joint performance after aging if the laser-generated surface structures are less pronounced with low surface enlargements and crater depths. Surface features and hydrothermal aging determine whether the specimens fail cohesively or adhesively.
}},
