[{"type":"journal_article","publication":"Glottotheory","abstract":[{"lang":"ger","text":"Ausgehend von der Konzeptualisierung der Shoa als kommunikativem Extremfall erweist sich nicht nur das erzwungene Schweigen jüdischer Shoa-Opfer und -Überlebender als so konstitutiv wie herausforderungsvoll, sondern ebenso das täterseitige Schweigen, als z.B. ein Die-eigene-Schuld-ignorieren-Wollen. Aber ebenso irritierend anmutende Formen des Schweigens indirekt zustimmender oder zumindest wegsehender Mitglieder der Integrierten Gesellschaft während und nach dem ‚Dritten Reich‘ sind in ihrer ethisch-normativen Eingebundenheit problematisch und zugleich bedenkenswert. So herausgehoben wie auffällig erscheint aus dieser Akteursgruppe der deutsche Philosoph Martin Heidegger, hätte dieser doch bis zu seinem Tod 1976 durchaus Gelegenheit gehabt, sich zum Zivilisationsbruch der Shoa zu äußern. Doch hat er, zumindest öffentlich, stets dazu geschwiegen. Dieses Schweigen soll im Rahmen dieses Beitrages hinsichtlich seines invektiven Potentials und in Bezug zu Heideggers eigenen (philosophischen) Ausführungen zum Schweigen reflektiert werden. The assessment of mechanically joined connections, such as clinched connections, is usually conducted destructively. Applicable non-destructive testing methods like computed tomography are time-consuming and costly, or, like electrical resistance measurement, provide only a limited amount of information. A fast, non-destructive evaluation of the joints condition shall be made possible by using transient dynamic analysis (TDA). It is based on the introduction of sound waves and the evaluation of the response behavior after passing through the structure. This study focuses the application of TDA to clinched shear connections to evaluate the performance of the tactile measuring setup. Twenty-one series were investigated, covering variations in joining task, manufacturing and defect. The evaluation was carried out using machine learning to determine for which series characteristic signals may be detected. It was shown that a classification of the investigated specimens is possible, whereby the classification accuracy depends on the examined variation. The first section shows that it makes no difference whether historians think of early modern history in terms of impersonal structures or of personal experience–they agree in regarding religion as a crucial cause of violence. \r\nAgainst this widespread conviction the paper unfolds two arguments. The first is that the Latin word “religio”, as it was used throughout the 16th and 17th century, did not mean ‘religion’ in our modern comprehensive understanding of the word. Instead its meaning was quite narrow and specific, referring either to the medieval sense of ‘committing oneself to God by joining a religious order’ (becoming a “religiosus” resp. a “religiosa”) or to the ancient sense of ‘scrupulously venerating God’. It did not mean ‘faith’, ‘doctrine’, ‘worship’, ‘church law’ or ‘denomination’, and definitely not all these things in conjunction. Only when the vernacular languages began to borrow the Latin word from the 16th century onwards was its narrow meaning broadened. As a consequence of reformation and counterreformation, the idea arose that one should make faith and doctrine and worship and church law match, although the attempt to implement this new rapport provoked much opposition and turned out to be a very violent process. From this point of view what is generally called “early modern religious violence” is violence caused not by religion, but by the ambition to establish a new idea of religion. \r\nThe second argument is that our modern understanding of religion is coined by the 18th-century critique of religion. Only the Enlightenment’s claim to overcome religion (in the new sense of the word) declared it to be “irrational” or even “fanatic”. Thus the Enlightenment invented religious fanatism, using it as a retrospective explanation of the violence that had gripped the last centuries. An important part of Iran’s censorship apparatus is its analysis of unencrypted protocols such as HTTP and DNS. During routine evaluations of Iran’s HTTP and DNS censorship, we noticed several properties we believe to be unknown today. For instance, we found injections of correct static IPs for some domains such as google.com on the DNS level, unclear HTTP version parsing, and correlations between DNS and HTTP censorship. In this paper, we present our findings to the community and discuss possible takeaways for affected people and the censorship circumvention community. As some of our findings left us bewildered, we hope to ignite a discussion about Iran’s censorship behavior. Such systems are essential for businesses seeking trustworthy partners, as they help reduce information asymmetry, lower buyers' transaction risks, and allow high-quality service providers to justify premium pricing. Unlike traditional review-based systems in the business-to-consumer (B2C) context, we propose a B2B reputation mechanism in which buyers commit to a rating payment before a transaction. Once the buyer finalizes the rating, this payment is executed and recorded on a blockchain as an immutable, secure ledger. Our system mimics natural trust-building mechanisms with ratings that are (1) monetary-based, (2) stake-based, (3) non-aggregated, (4) involve counter-ratings, (5) selectively sellable, (6) individually comparable, (7) stored on a blockchain, (8) and monitored by a third instance. This system provides a novel approach to fostering trust in B2B transactions by reducing information asymmetry and transaction risk. We illustrate the mechanism’s application in the consulting sector. Our analysis has identified 23 institutional trust and distrust dimensions that promote establishing institutional trust through the proposed mechanism. Qualitative interviews suggest that, while complex and challenging to apply, this mechanism can foster trust in B2B transactions. Given the low maturity in the application domain—rating professional business services with business reputation systems—and solution domain—using monetary stakes for ratings, this system stands as a potential invention."}]},{"abstract":[{"text":"<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title>\r\n               <jats:p>Ultrasonic transmission measurements can be used for material characterization, as the propagation time of sound waves and thus their velocity depends on the elastic material parameters. Measurement results for the elastic material parameters are acquired non-destructively using ultrasonic transmission measurements of hollow cylindrical polymer specimens. To determine the material parameters, an inverse approach is used comparing measurements with simulated data. Previous studies show that the procedure exhibits low sensitivity with respect to the shear parameters of the material. In order to increase the sensitivity, we propose to apply a spatially annular excitation on the base of the specimen. As a measure to analyse the sensitivities with respect to all parameters and their linear independence, we observe the volume of the parallelotope of the sensitivity vectors. Here, a scaled boundary finite element formulation of wave propagation in the specimen is expanded to yield derivative information directly, and a sensitivity analysis can be carried out efficiently. Um den Begriff der Nachhaltigkeit zu konturieren, vollziehen die Autor:innen in Wikipedia-Diskussionen folglich die sprachreflexive, kommunikative Praktik des WIDERSPRECHENS. However, rational materials development is hampered by difficulties in interpreting electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS) and drawing conclusions about promising aspects of device improvement. Here, we characterized electrodes consisting of activated carbon with polyacrylic acid binder in four different concentrations of sulfuric acid, using cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Both datasets were evaluated with simple equivalent circuits and comparatively analyzed. Conductivity of the electrolyte was independently measured. Cyclic voltammograms (CV) show larger resistance and capacitance at low scan rates. Resistances obtained from EIS are in good agreement with those obtained by cyclic voltammograms particularly at high scan rates. The comparison against specific electrolyte resistance can reveal whether resistances within the solid electrode architecture or resistances within the electrolyte, partially confined by pores, are the dominant cause of increased resistance at low scan rate.
