A notable example of a mechatronic system is the headlamp at the front of a vehicle, which emits adaptive headlights, such as the well-known adaptive cornering lights or glare-free high beam. The rise of these and other Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) has led to a proliferation of sensor data. However, the full potential of ADAS sensor data for increasing energy efficiency has not yet been exploited in the past. This study demonstrates that utilizing the data to dynamically adapt headlights to the upcoming driving scenario leads to a substantial reduction in power consumption. This objective is pursued by focusing on the predominant carbon footprint driver, namely the low beam.","lang":"eng"}],"date_created":"2026-07-20T06:18:02Z","keyword":["intelligent headlights","energy efficiency","ecodriving","decarbonization","matrix LED headlights","adaptive realtime control","ADAS systems","feedforward control","simulation"],"type":"conference","department":[{"_id":"153"}],"status":"public","conference":{"end_date":"2026-06-25","location":"Detroit","name":"37th IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IV)","start_date":"2026-06-22"},"_id":"66545","publisher":"IEEE","user_id":"69890","volume":37,"citation":{"bibtex":"@inproceedings{Fittkau_Bußemas_Malena_Gausemeier_Trächtler_2026, place={Detroit, Vereinigte Staaten}, title={Intelligent headlights boost energy efficiency and drive decarbonization}, volume={37}, booktitle={2026 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IV)}, publisher={IEEE}, author={Fittkau, Niklas and Bußemas, Leon and Malena, Kevin and Gausemeier, Sandra and Trächtler, Ansgar}, year={2026} }","ama":"Fittkau N, Bußemas L, Malena K, Gausemeier S, Trächtler A. We introduce a paradigm shift using a many‐body plasmonic architecture inspired by statistical mechanics. By moving toward the continuum limit, local geometric variations are statistically averaged out, effectively decoupling optical performance from microscopic disorder. We implement this concept via a lithography‐ and etching‐free, multi‐step dewetting strategy, creating wafer‐scale nanoclusters. This process strategically forms a robust many‐body system by introducing numerous small satellite nanoparticles between larger particles. Crucially, this design achieves a high collective enhancement that surpasses even optimized few‐body systems, despite having larger individual gaps. Under optimized conditions, these substrates exhibit a surface‐enhanced Raman scattering enhancement factor approaching 4 × 10^8 with unprecedented reproducibility (RSD of ∼10%). This scalable, low‐cost concept establishes a practical route toward reproducible wafer‐scale nanophotonic platforms for sensing, spectroscopy, and quantum technologies.","lang":"eng"}],"date_created":"2026-07-22T05:49:50Z","department":[{"_id":"15"},{"_id":"230"},{"_id":"289"},{"_id":"623"}],"type":"journal_article","author":[{"first_name":"Minjun","last_name":"Kim","full_name":"Kim, Minjun"},{"id":"103814","full_name":"Devaraj, Vasanthan","last_name":"Devaraj","first_name":"Vasanthan"},{"full_name":"Seo, Hyeon‐Seok","last_name":"Seo","first_name":"Hyeon‐Seok"},{"full_name":"Eom, Seong‐Jae","last_name":"Eom","first_name":"Seong‐Jae"},{"full_name":"Lee, Jeong‐Su","first_name":"Jeong‐Su","last_name":"Lee"},{"first_name":"Donghan","last_name":"Lee","full_name":"Lee, Donghan"},{"full_name":"Jeon, Min Yong","first_name":"Min Yong","last_name":"Jeon"},{"id":"30525","orcid":"0000-0002-8662-1101","last_name":"Zentgraf","first_name":"Thomas","full_name":"Zentgraf, Thomas"},{"full_name":"Lee, Jong‐Min","last_name":"Lee","first_name":"Jong‐Min"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["1863-8880","1863-8899"]},"year":"2026","title":"Engineering Disordered Many‐Particle Plasmonic Nanoclusters for Wafer‐Scale Uniform and Giant Electromagnetic Field Enhancement","article_type":"original","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-07-22T05:52:38Z","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"article_number":"e71610","main_file_link":[{"url":"https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/lpor.71610","open_access":"1"}],"doi":"10.1002/lpor.71610"},{"type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"15"}],"file":[{"creator":"cedrikm","date_created":"2026-08-06T12:18:22Z","file_size":2894783,"access_level":"closed","file_name":"oe-34-16-30335.pdf","date_updated":"2026-08-06T12:18:22Z","relation":"main_file","content_type":"application/pdf","success":1,"file_id":"66675"}],"date_created":"2026-08-06T12:15:59Z","abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"
Efficient detection of near-infrared light at telecommunication wavelengths remains a central challenge for GaAs-based photonic and optoelectronic devices due to the absence of linear absorption below the bandgap. Here, we demonstrate a hybrid nonlinear optoelectronic device that enhances the detection efficiency of a (001)-oriented GaAs PIN photodiode under telecommunication-wavelength illumination, where absorption is intrinsically limited to two-photon absorption (2PA). Our approach relies on the integration of a transferred, nanopatterned 385 nm-thick (111)-oriented GaAs nanofilm acting as an on-chip nonlinear frequency-conversion layer. Elliptical GaAs nanoresonators are employed to enhance second-harmonic generation (SHG) resonantly, converting incident 1550 nm radiation into above-bandgap photons efficiently absorbed by the underlying diode. Spatially resolved current–voltage measurements reveal a pronounced enhancement of the detector response in regions covered by the nanoantennas. The device exhibits a low dark current, while the metasurface-covered regions show the largest current response under 1560 nm excitation compared to the bare GaAs(100) diode and the unstructured GaAs(111) film. These results establish a direct functional link between dielectric metasurface–based nonlinear frequency conversion and electrical photodetection, providing a viable route toward integrated sub-bandgap detection schemes.
"}],"publication":"Optics Express","issue":"16","doi":"10.1364/oe.601288","article_number":"30335","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"date_updated":"2026-08-06T12:18:58Z","publication_status":"published","intvolume":" 34","article_type":"original","year":"2026","title":"Hybrid GaAs (111)/GaAs (100) PIN photodiodes for metasurface-assisted nonlinear upconversion detection","author":[{"last_name":"Spedt","first_name":"Vladimir","full_name":"Spedt, Vladimir"},{"first_name":"Falco","last_name":"Meier","full_name":"Meier, Falco"},{"first_name":"René","last_name":"Geromel","full_name":"Geromel, René"},{"full_name":"Mahler, Pascal","first_name":"Pascal","last_name":"Mahler"},{"id":"42539","full_name":"Henksmeier, Tobias","last_name":"Henksmeier","first_name":"Tobias"},{"id":"37763","full_name":"Reuter, Dirk","last_name":"Reuter","first_name":"Dirk"},{"id":"30525","orcid":"0000-0002-8662-1101","last_name":"Zentgraf","first_name":"Thomas","full_name":"Zentgraf, Thomas"},{"full_name":"Meier, Cedrik","last_name":"Meier","first_name":"Cedrik","orcid":"https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3787-3572","id":"20798"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["1094-4087"]},"quality_controlled":"1","project":[{"name":"TRR 142 - Project Area B","_id":"55"},{"name":"TRR 142; TP B09: Effiziente Erzeugung mit maßgeschneiderter optischer Phaselage der zweiten Harmonischen mittels Quasi-gebundener Zustände in GaAs Metaoberflächen","_id":"170"}],"file_date_updated":"2026-08-06T12:18:22Z","citation":{"ama":"Spedt V, Meier F, Geromel R, et al. Clinching allows different materials to be joined together. A key task in this context is to perform crack growth simulations in the vicinity of clinched joints considering different load and environmental conditions. This requires formulaic descriptions of the fatigue crack growth rate curves for the materials used. For this purpose, fatigue crack growth rate curves for different R-ratios and temperatures are determined experimentally. Generally, these fatigue crack growth rate curves can be described very well using a novel two-part exponential approach for the formulaic description of fatigue crack growth rate curves developed at Applied Mechanics of Paderborn University (FAM). In this case, three parameters are sufficient to describe the fatigue crack growth rate curves. For the material HCT590X, which is frequently used in clinched joints, it is shown as an example how the parameters vary with the R-ratio and the temperature. In addition, at high crack growth rates, a significant rise in the fatigue crack growth rate curve sometimes occurs at both low and high temperatures. To account for this feature, the two-part exponential approach can be expanded to include a third part.
","lang":"eng"}],"date_created":"2026-08-06T10:14:38Z","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"9"},{"_id":"952"},{"_id":"321"}],"status":"public","publisher":"MDPI AG","_id":"66673","user_id":"85414","volume":16,"citation":{"chicago":"Kullmer, Gunter, Sven Krome, Deborah Weiß, Britta Schramm, and Richard Ostwald. “Influence of the R-Ratio and the Temperature on the Coefficients of a Novel Exponential Approach for the Formulaic Description of Fatigue Crack Growth Rate Curves.” <i>Metals</i> 16, no. 8 (2026). <a href=\"https://doi.org/10.3390/met16080835\">https://doi.org/10.3390/met16080835</a>.","short":"G. Experiences reside in minds of employees and are not systematically documented but could have a significant influence on sustainable product engineering. Existing approaches do not offer sufficient support for harnessing technical tacit knowledge regarding sustainable product engineering. In this paper a three-step method is presented: The method contains knowledge acquisition, requirements extraction und requirements validation for quality assurance. Acquisition is performed by support artifacts like interview guidelines. Extraction is supported by Artificial Intelligence, converting statements into requirements. These requirements are validated using a specific questionnaire. The developed approach is applied in a funded project of the European Union (EU) with automotive industry partners. The method supports product engineers to collect tacit knowledge from experienced employees, transform unsystematic knowledge into standardized technical requirements and validate them. Application of this method enables creation of validated requirements that can be applied throughout the company and are not exclusively dependent on a single employee.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"1st International Symposium: March 24 – 26, 2026, Heinz Nixdorf Institute, Paderborn University","type":"conference","keyword":["Tacit knowledge","Sustainability","Product Engineering","Artificial Intelligence"],"department":[{"_id":"152"}],"date_created":"2026-07-20T13:16:49Z","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-08-13T09:02:56Z","intvolume":" 1","title":"Harnessing tacit Knowledge from Sustainable Product Engineering through Artificial Intelligence","year":"2026","author":[{"first_name":"Johanna","last_name":"Mansheim","full_name":"Mansheim, Johanna","id":"98210"},{"id":"47565","last_name":"Gräßler","first_name":"Iris","orcid":"0000-0001-5765-971X","full_name":"Gräßler, Iris"},{"id":"62841","first_name":"Jan Niklas","last_name":"Pfeifer","full_name":"Pfeifer, Jan Niklas"}],"doi":"10.17619/UNIPB/1-2639","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"series_title":"International Symposium on Hybrid Intelligence in Product and Production Engineering","quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"mla":"Mansheim, Johanna, et al. “Harnessing Tacit Knowledge from Sustainable Product Engineering through Artificial Intelligence.” <i>1st International Symposium: March 24 – 26, 2026, Heinz Nixdorf Institute, Paderborn University</i>, edited by Iris Graessler, vol. 1, Universitätsbibliothek, 2026, pp. 229–38, doi:<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.17619/UNIPB/1-2639\">10.17619/UNIPB/1-2639</a>.","bibtex":"@inproceedings{Mansheim_Gräßler_Pfeifer_2026, place={Paderborn}, series={International Symposium on Hybrid Intelligence in Product and Production Engineering}, title={Harnessing tacit Knowledge from Sustainable Product Engineering through Artificial Intelligence}, volume={1}, DOI={<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.17619/UNIPB/1-2639\">10.17619/UNIPB/1-2639</a>}, booktitle={1st International Symposium: March 24 – 26, 2026, Heinz Nixdorf Institute, Paderborn University}, publisher={Universitätsbibliothek}, author={Mansheim, Johanna and Gräßler, Iris and Pfeifer, Jan Niklas}, editor={Graessler, Iris}, year={2026}, pages={229–238}, collection={International Symposium on Hybrid Intelligence in Product and Production Engineering} }","ama":"Mansheim J, Gräßler I, Pfeifer JN. A substantial share of a product’s environmental performance is determined during engineering. Early assessments rely on generic data, which is gradually replaced by more concrete simulation and primary data as product maturity increases. The effective use of engineering simulation models for Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) therefore remains a central challenge under heterogeneous, distributed and rapidly evolving data. This article presents a systematic review of product engineering approaches for integrating simulation models into LCA. A seven-step research approach is applied to identify, categorize and evaluate existing approaches across CAx tools. Relevant simulation parameters for sustainability assessment, including material properties, process descriptors, consumables and waste streams, are identified and analyzed. Based on identified data characteristics, the potential of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence methods for LCA data preparation is assessed. A conceptual knowledge-graph-based decision support approach is derived to enable structured integration, traceability and reuse of simulation data for sustainability assessment. The approach is evaluated using criteria from literature. Structured integration of simulation data improves early-stage data quality and supports decision-making in sustainable product engineering.","lang":"eng"}],"date_created":"2026-07-16T09:41:28Z","type":"conference","department":[{"_id":"152"}],"title":"Systematic review of engineering simulation models for life cycle assessment","year":"2026","author":[{"full_name":"Gräßler, Iris","orcid":"0000-0001-5765-971X","first_name":"Iris","last_name":"Gräßler","id":"47565"},{"id":"74512","full_name":"Aydin, Simon","first_name":"Simon","last_name":"Aydin"},{"id":"67999","full_name":"Rarbach, Sven","first_name":"Sven","last_name":"Rarbach","orcid":"https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0602-9923"}],"date_updated":"2026-08-13T08:18:14Z","main_file_link":[{"url":"https://digital.ub.uni-paderborn.de/hs/download/pdf/8359171","open_access":"1"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"10.17619/UNIPB/1-2637","citation":{"mla":"Gräßler, Iris, et al. “Systematic Review of Engineering Simulation Models for Life Cycle Assessment.” <i>1st International Symposium: March 24 – 26, 2026, Heinz Nixdorf Institute, Paderborn University</i>, edited by Iris Gräßler, Universitätsbibliothek, 2026, doi:<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.17619/UNIPB/1-2637\">10.17619/UNIPB/1-2637</a>.","bibtex":"@inproceedings{Gräßler_Aydin_Rarbach_2026, place={Paderborn}, title={Systematic review of engineering simulation models for life cycle assessment}, DOI={<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.17619/UNIPB/1-2637\">10.17619/UNIPB/1-2637</a>}, booktitle={1st International Symposium: March 24 – 26, 2026, Heinz Nixdorf Institute, Paderborn University}, publisher={Universitätsbibliothek}, author={Gräßler, Iris and Aydin, Simon and Rarbach, Sven}, editor={Gräßler, Iris}, year={2026} }","ama":"Gräßler I, Aydin S, Rarbach S. The intention of reassembling products and their part simplies that inspection and sorting need to be integrated with value-conserving objectives. Further, disassembly and reassembly require higher competence levels of workforce than assembly. To provide the required information during engineering, a metadata model (MDM) is required that links established product models to capability models. Since processes to be carried out for realizing a product largely determine required employees’ capabilities, the proposed approach uses the ADR process domain to connect product and capability domains. The research is based on a systematic literature analysis to identify existing approaches regarding MDMs of ADR processes. Based on the results, an integrative MDM is developed that answers defined competence questions. The model enables queries which support engineers by feedback on which skills are required for a product. This builds up a basis to check whether required skills are available in the manufacturing company, either early in product engineering or later in ADR planning."}],"publication":"1st International Symposium on Hybrid Intelligence in Product and Production Engineering","type":"conference","department":[{"_id":"152"}],"date_created":"2026-08-07T11:59:52Z","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-08-13T08:14:20Z","year":"2026","title":"Enabling extreme data by using DS/AI approaches","author":[{"last_name":"Gräßler","first_name":"I.","orcid":"0000-0001-5765-971X","full_name":"Gräßler, I.","id":"47565"},{"id":"76202","full_name":"Hesse, Thomas","last_name":"Hesse","first_name":"Thomas"},{"full_name":"Pottebaum, Jens","orcid":"http://orcid.org/0000-0001-8778-2989","first_name":"Jens","last_name":"Pottebaum","id":"405"}],"doi":"10.17619/UNIPB/1-2640","main_file_link":[{"open_access":"1"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"short":"I. It investigates the extent to which this formula is connected to Jesus’s words to Mary Magdalene on Easter morning in John 20:17. The analysis aims to show that the Qur’an critically engages with the Christian interpretive tradition surrounding this statement as recorded in John’s Gospel and adapts it – both contextually and verbally – within its own theological framework. As in the Christian tradition, this Qur’anic engagement also generates a broader discourse on the hermeneutics of scriptural interpretation.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Islam and Christian–Muslim Relations"},{"oa":"1","place":"Bielefeld","quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"mla":"Dübbert, Alexander. “Metaphorische Konzeptualisierungen des Jahrhunderthochwassers in Süddeutschland im Spätfrühling 2024. In journalistic reporting, numerous conceptual metaphors are used to conceptualise such extreme weather events. This linguistic study investigates how the century flood that occurred in southern Germany in late May and early June 2024 was metaphorically conceptualised in nationwide online journalism by identifying patterns of metaphorical conceptualisation. The analysis draws on the foundations of Conceptual Metaphor Theory as proposed by Lakoff and Johnson (1980), refined through the graded distinction of schematicity levels in conceptual structure proposed in Kövecses (2017, 2020, 2022) Extended Conceptual Metaphor Theory. Accordingly, metaphors are understood as schematically distinguishable mappings of conceptual aspects from source to target areas, through which particular actions are constituted. Adopting a mixed-methods approach that integrates manual with (semi-)automatic analytical procedures, the study reveals that the century flood is predominantly conceptualised through the highly schematic metaphor ZEIT IST SUBSTANZ (›time is substance‹), the less schematic metaphor NATURKATASTROPHEN SIND PERSONEN (›natural disasters are persons‹), and a set of least schematic, elaborating metaphors, namely HOCHWASSER IST GEGNER (›flood is an opponent‹), HOCHWASSER IST ZERSTÖRER (›flood is a destroyer‹) and HOCHWASSER IST MÖRDER (›flood is a murderer‹). From an ecolinguistic perspective, the study critically reflects on how these metaphorical conceptualisations obscure human co-responsibility for the intensity of extreme flood events."}],"publication":"Ökologische Diskurse heute. A major engineering challenge is the optimization of the fixed‐bed reactor design, specifically the heat dissipation in regions of high reaction heat release. A mitigation concept is the introduction of inert material into the fixed bed, called catalyst dilution. In this study, a 1D continuity model is presented, which aims to predict catalyst superheating. This model is used in an exploratory study to identify system sensitivity and optimization parameters. Subsequently, an optimization framework for improving the reactor design is tested, resulting in a 148‐K reduction in peak catalyst temperature when using a 33.3 vol% catalyst dilution.\r\n
","lang":"eng"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"article_number":"e70162","doi":"10.1002/cite.70162","author":[{"id":"111274","last_name":"Schmücker","first_name":"Torben","full_name":"Schmücker, Torben"},{"full_name":"Riese, Julia","orcid":"0000-0002-3053-0534","first_name":"Julia","last_name":"Riese","id":"101499"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["0009-286X","1522-2640"]},"year":"2026","title":"Model‐Based Optimization Framework for Catalyst Dilution Applications in CO2‐Methanation Reactors","article_type":"original","date_updated":"2026-08-21T06:09:31Z","publication_status":"published","citation":{"mla":"Schmücker, Torben, and Julia Riese. “Model‐Based Optimization Framework for Catalyst Dilution Applications in CO2‐Methanation Reactors.” <i>Chemie Ingenieur Technik</i>, e70162, Wiley, 2026, doi:<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1002/cite.70162\">10.1002/cite.70162</a>.","bibtex":"@article{Schmücker_Riese_2026, title={Model‐Based Optimization Framework for Catalyst Dilution Applications in CO2‐Methanation Reactors}, DOI={<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1002/cite.70162\">10.1002/cite.70162</a>}, number={e70162}, journal={Chemie Ingenieur Technik}, publisher={Wiley}, author={Schmücker, Torben and Riese, Julia}, year={2026} }","ama":"Schmücker T, Riese J. Using responses from 1, 309 parents in Australia, England, Germany, and Norway it examines parental satisfaction with mainstream and special schools, and parents' school placement preferences, including willingness to change schools. Parental satisfaction is assessed as an overall evaluation of how well the child's school placement meets their needs, without distinguishing between specific aspects of the school experience. The study also explores whether the child's level of support is associated with these perceptions. Based on a human rights perspective, we highlight parents’ perspectives and their role in the development of more inclusive education systems, without promoting one model of schooling over another. Methods – Responses from 1, 309 parents across four countries were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Non-parametric tests compared satisfaction across school types, chi-squared tests assessed associations with willingness to change schools, and binary logistic regression examined whether level of support was associated with parents' willingness to change school placement. Results – Parents in England, Germany, and Norway reported higher satisfaction with special schools than with mainstream schools. No statistically significant difference was observed in Australia. Parents of children in special schools were less likely to report considering changing schools, particularly in England and Norway. Higher pupil support needs were significantly associated with parents’ willingness to change school across the combined sample. These findings suggest that parental satisfaction with their child's education and their preferences regarding school placement may be shaped by both school type and how well pupils' support needs are perceived to be met. Discussion and conclusion – The role of parents as key stakeholders in developing inclusive education systems, consistent with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) is emphasised. While parents in special schools in three of the four countries reported higher satisfaction, the reasons for this remain unclear. Understanding the factors shaping parental satisfaction is essential for developing inclusive and responsive learning environments. These findings offer a starting point for future research on how education systems can better align policy commitments with families’ lived experiences.","lang":"eng"}],"date_created":"2026-07-14T08:14:19Z","department":[{"_id":"556"}],"type":"journal_article","keyword":["human rights","inclusion","inclusive education","international study","parents","school development","special educational needs"],"author":[{"full_name":"Johansson, Veslemøy Maria Fossum","first_name":"Veslemøy Maria Fossum","last_name":"Johansson"},{"first_name":"Suanne","last_name":"Gibson","full_name":"Gibson, Suanne"},{"full_name":"Woodcock, Stuart","last_name":"Woodcock","first_name":"Stuart"},{"first_name":"Anders","last_name":"Dechsling","full_name":"Dechsling, Anders"},{"first_name":"Harry","orcid":"0000-0001-5488-5105","last_name":"Kullmann","full_name":"Kullmann, Harry","id":"77972"},{"full_name":"Herrebrøden, Marte Karoline","last_name":"Herrebrøden","first_name":"Marte Karoline"},{"last_name":"Ulriksen","first_name":"Line Britt","full_name":"Ulriksen, Line Britt"},{"full_name":"Nordahl-Hansen, Anders","first_name":"Anders","last_name":"Nordahl-Hansen"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["2504-284X"]},"year":"2026","title":"Parental (dis)satisfaction with school placement to achieve inclusion: a cross-country comparison","article_type":"original","intvolume":" 11","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-08-21T11:22:39Z","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"article_number":"1710708","doi":"10.3389/feduc.2026.1710708"},{"status":"public","year":"2026","title":"Three pitfalls in intercultural education: Cultural uniformity, pedagogical neutrality, and presumptions of competence","publication_identifier":{"issn":["1476-7724","1476-7732"]},"author":[{"id":"77437","full_name":"Pöllmann, Andreas","first_name":"Andreas","orcid":"0000-0002-9090-2547","last_name":"Pöllmann"}],"publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-08-24T06:11:19Z","article_type":"original","page":"1-11","_id":"66664","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"publisher":"Informa UK Limited","user_id":"77437","doi":"10.1080/14767724.2026.2636566","publication":"Globalisation, Societies and Education","citation":{"chicago":"Pöllmann, Andreas. “Three Pitfalls in Intercultural Education: Cultural Uniformity, Pedagogical Neutrality, and Presumptions of Competence.” <i>Globalisation, Societies and Education</i>, 2026, 1–11. <a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1080/14767724.2026.2636566\">https://doi.org/10.1080/14767724.2026.2636566</a>.","short":"A. These interconnected tendencies are rooted in essentialist conceptions of culture, the depoliticisation of educational practice, and the instrumental reduction of intercultural competence to a measurable skill. Drawing on critical pedagogy and decolonial scholarship, as well as empirical studies on monolingualism, assimilationism, and institutionalised hierarchies, the article demonstrates how well-intentioned initiatives often reproduce structural power asymmetries, symbolic violence, and epistemic marginalisation. It thus advocates an intercultural education grounded in critical reflexivity, political responsibility, and a sustained commitment to epistemic and social justice. Moving beyond reductive frameworks, the article advances dialogic, participatory, and decolonising approaches that interrogate dominant norms, recognise the pluriform and situated character of knowledge, and foreground the relational dynamics of interculturality. Intercultural learning is thus reframed as an ongoing, power-conscious process of negotiating difference within structurally unequal conditions rather than as the transmission of predefined competencies.","lang":"eng"}],"quality_controlled":"1","date_created":"2026-08-05T11:36:52Z","type":"journal_article"},{"publication":"HTM Journal of Heat Treatment and Materials","issue":"4","abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"
Abstract
\r\n
Roller shells of twin-roll-caster (TRC) are subjected to wear and tear due to their usage in harsh casting and forming conditions. A significant level of complexity is added when these strategies are applied not only on integrated product level, but on lower levels of assemblies and parts. Therefore, approaches, like Design for Assembly, Disassembly and Reassembly (DfADR) become increasingly important including the consideration of ADR capabilities. To put DfADR into practice, it is necessary to structure ADR-related product data and make it usable for product engineers. For instance, assemblies resulting from disassembly might not be consistent with original assembly structures. Therefore, a Product Meta Data Model (MDM) is required to handle assembly-related data even when it has extreme characteristics. A literature review on related MDMs reveals a range of models for general product data and identifies a gap in consideration of assembly-related data. In an expert workshop, requirements are raised to evaluate existing models and develop ADR-related extensions. The MDM is conceptually modelled and validated by competence questions. The paper presents an approach that makes assembly-related data usable for hybrid decision support and enables engineers to think ahead of ADR processes.","lang":"eng"}],"date_created":"2026-07-16T11:58:01Z","type":"conference","department":[{"_id":"152"}],"year":"2026","title":"A product Meta Data Model of assembly-related extreme data to enable hybrid decision support","author":[{"id":"47565","full_name":"Gräßler, Iris","orcid":"0000-0001-5765-971X","last_name":"Gräßler","first_name":"Iris"},{"id":"74028","full_name":"Vollenkemper, Felix","first_name":"Felix","last_name":"Vollenkemper"},{"last_name":"Pottebaum","orcid":"http://orcid.org/0000-0001-8778-2989","first_name":"Jens","full_name":"Pottebaum, Jens","id":"405"}],"date_updated":"2026-08-24T11:42:17Z","publication_status":"published","main_file_link":[{"open_access":"1"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"10.17619/UNIPB/1-2642","citation":{"ieee":"I.
