AI-based requirements extraction using Large Language Models (LLMs) has the potential to support engineers in this task by analyzing large documents, for example. Existing evaluation approaches in AI-supported requirements engineering mainly assess individual requirements and their consistency with source documents, while quality criteria of requirements sets are largely neglected. This paper presents a five-step approach to evaluate the performance of current LLMs in generating requirements sets: a systematic literature review to identify quality criteria of requirements sets (1), exemplary generation of requirements sets from the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC using LLMs (2), examination (3), evaluation (4) and comparison (5) of the generated requirements sets. The results support engineers in selecting LLMs for creating requirement sets and in evaluating future LLMs."}],"quality_controlled":"1","date_created":"2026-08-24T14:31:30Z","keyword":["Requirements Engineering","Artificial Intelligence","Large Language Models","Generative AI"],"type":"conference"},{"doi":"10.25529/KYXA-R127","user_id":"37813","_id":"65803","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"publisher":"KULTURELLE BILDUNG ONLINE: https://kubi-online.de/artikel/kulturerbe-kulturellen-bildung-potenziale-ausserschulischen-lernens-schnittstelle-zwischen","date_updated":"2026-06-29T13:58:12Z","author":[{"full_name":"Eikermann, Larissa","first_name":"Larissa","last_name":"Eikermann"}],"status":"public","title":" Kulturerbe in der Kulturellen Bildung – Potenziale außerschulischen Lernens an der Schnittstelle zwischen ästhetischer Erfahrung und politischer Bildung.","year":"2026","keyword":["Kulturelle Bildung","Kulturerbe","Kulturelles Erbe","Kunstunterricht","Denkmalpädagogik","Denkmalvermittlung"],"type":"journal_article","date_created":"2026-06-08T13:45:50Z","quality_controlled":"1","related_material":{"link":[{"url":"https://kubi-online.de/artikel/kulturerbe-kulturellen-bildung-potenziale-ausserschulischen-lernens-schnittstelle-zwischen","relation":"contains"}]},"citation":{"apa":"Eikermann, L. These needs are—according to Ainscow’s (2007) inclusive turn—not primarily ‘special educational needs’, but diverse needs of all learners. For the rather segregated German educational system, this endeavour applies especially to primary education, where needs are still developing and pupils are not yet assigned to different types of schooling according to their needs and abilities.\r\n\r\nDespite a substantial amount of research on pupils’ basic psychological needs for autonomy, competence and social relatedness (Ryan et al., 2022), strategies that technology education teachers apply in this regard are not yet well understood. Besides interventional studies on technology education, indicating effectiveness of self‑directed and action‑oriented teaching and learning, there is a dearth of research on how teachers address different needs as a routine.\r\n\r\nThe purpose of the presented study is therefore to investigate and systematize actions and strategies teachers apply, and to specify how pupils' needs are considered when teaching technology education on a given topic.\r\n\r\nThe overall study used a mixed-methods approach to the question how pupils’ needs are characterized by themselves and by their teachers, and how they were taken into account in a lesson adapted and delivered by the teachers. In the sub-study presented here, participating primary school teachers were interviewed about their consideration of pupils’ needs whilst planning and conducting a technology education unit on the functionality of robots.\r\n\r\nThe results gained from qualitative content analysis of the interviews indicate that although the anticipation of different needs is considered challenging, teachers possess a substantiate amount of practices and strategies to take them into account.\r\n\r\nThe paper systematizes the practices teachers described in structured interviews within strategies and discusses the contribution of taking basic needs into account for inclusive technology education."}],"publication":"Linköping Electronic Conference Proceedings","doi":"10.3384/ecp213.1455","alternative_title":["On Teachers’ Practices and Strategies to Teach Technology Inclusively at Primary Level"],"main_file_link":[{"url":"https://ecp.ep.liu.se/index.php/patt/article/view/1455","open_access":"1"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-06-30T13:09:02Z","intvolume":" 218","title":"“They Really Need to Handle, Inspect, and Experience Things”","year":"2026","author":[{"last_name":"Schröer","first_name":"Franz","full_name":"Schröer, Franz"},{"first_name":"Claudia","last_name":"Tenberge","full_name":"Tenberge, Claudia"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["1650-3686","1650-3740"]}},{"place":"San Diego, CA, USA","oa":"1","citation":{"mla":"Wang, Yu, et al. “Investigating the Representation of Backchannels and Fillers in Fine-Tuned Language Models.” Proceedings of the 64th Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics, Association for Computational Linguistics, 2026, pp. 5319–48, doi:10.18653/v1/2026.acl-long.241.","ama":"Wang Y, Lao L, Huang L, Skantze G, Xu Y, Buschmeier H. Our work studies the representation of them in language models using three fine-tuning strategies. The models are trained on three dialogue corpora in English and Japanese, where backchannels and fillers are preserved and annotated, to investigate how fine-tuning can help LMs learn their representations. We first apply clustering analysis to the learnt representation of backchannels and fillers, and have found increased silhouette scores in representations from fine-tuned models, which suggests that fine-tuning enables LMs to distinguish the nuanced semantic variation in different backchannel and filler use. We also use natural language generation (NLG) metrics and qualitative analysis to confirm that the utterances generated by fine-tuned language models resemble human-produced utterances more closely. Our findings suggest the potentials of transforming general LMs into conversational LMs that are more capable of producing human-like languages adequately."}],"main_file_link":[{"open_access":"1","url":"https://doi.org/10.48550/arXiv.2509.20237"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"10.18653/v1/2026.acl-long.241","year":"2026","title":"Investigating the representation of backchannels and fillers in fine-tuned language models","author":[{"full_name":"Wang, Yu","last_name":"Wang","first_name":"Yu"},{"first_name":"Leyi","last_name":"Lao","full_name":"Lao, Leyi"},{"full_name":"Huang, Langchu","first_name":"Langchu","last_name":"Huang"},{"full_name":"Skantze, Gabriel","first_name":"Gabriel","last_name":"Skantze"},{"full_name":"Xu, Yang","first_name":"Yang","last_name":"Xu"},{"id":"76456","orcid":"0000-0002-9613-5713","first_name":"Hendrik","last_name":"Buschmeier","full_name":"Buschmeier, Hendrik"}],"publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-07-01T19:43:27Z"},{"quality_controlled":"1","publication":"Differential Geometry and its Applications","citation":{"ama":"Glöckner H, Grong E, Schmeding A. We address this question by introducing a new method called AutoPeriod of Surprisal (APS). APS adopts a canonical periodicity detection algorithm and is able to identify any significant periods that exist in the surprisal sequence of a single document. By applying the algorithm to a set of corpora, we have obtained the following interesting results: Firstly, a considerable proportion of human language demonstrates a strong pattern of periodicity in information; Secondly, new periods that are outside the distributions of typical structural units in text (e.g., sentence boundaries, elementary discourse units, etc.) are found and further confirmed via harmonic regression modeling. We conclude that the periodicity of information in language is a joint outcome from both structured factors and other driving factors that take effect at longer distances. The advantages of our periodicity detection method and its potentials in LLM-generation detection are further discussed."}],"publication":"Proceedings of the 64th Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics","type":"conference","department":[{"_id":"660"}],"date_created":"2026-04-07T09:52:23Z","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-07-01T19:43:56Z","year":"2026","title":"Identifying the periodicity of information in natural language","author":[{"full_name":"Ou, Yulin","last_name":"Ou","first_name":"Yulin"},{"last_name":"Wang","first_name":"Yu","full_name":"Wang, Yu"},{"first_name":"Yang","last_name":"Xu","full_name":"Xu, Yang"},{"last_name":"Buschmeier","orcid":"0000-0002-9613-5713","first_name":"Hendrik","full_name":"Buschmeier, Hendrik","id":"76456"}],"doi":"10.18653/v1/2026.acl-long.52","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"quality_controlled":"1","project":[{"_id":"2752","name":"TRR 318-2 - Project B07: Communicative practices of requesting information and explanation from LLM-based agents"}],"citation":{"bibtex":"@inproceedings{Ou_Wang_Xu_Buschmeier_2026, place={San Diego, CA, USA}, title={Identifying the periodicity of information in natural language}, DOI={10.18653/v1/2026.acl-long.52}, booktitle={Proceedings of the 64th Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics}, publisher={Association for Computational Linguistics}, author={Ou, Yulin and Wang, Yu and Xu, Yang and Buschmeier, Hendrik}, year={2026}, pages={1161–1175} }","ama":"Ou Y, Wang Y, Xu Y, Buschmeier H. However, backchannels do not always transparently reflect the interlocutor's actual cognitive state. “Incongruent backchannels”, where the observable feedback implies understanding although there is no genuine understanding, are a potential source of ambiguity in any interaction. Using acoustic, head movement, and discourse-related data from 45 naturalistic dyadic interactions, we investigate whether incongruent and congruent backchannels show systematically different properties using a classification task. Results show that these backchannels are indeed separable based on multimodal features. Incongruent backchannels are typically characterised by more neutral head movement configurations and lower acoustic dynamism, while discursive cues strongly influence the classification. Overall, the findings suggest a relatively reduced effort in the signalling of incongruent backchannels."}],"citation":{"ama":"Türk O, Lazarov ST, Wang Y, Grimminger A, Buschmeier H, Wagner P. Existing data-driven studies have mainly addressed post-occurrence expulsion detection, process-end classification, or the identification of influencing factors, whereas online monitoring requires short-term risk estimation before the event occurs. In this study, expulsion prediction is formulated as a sliding-window-based pre-expulsion risk estimation task for the currently welded spot. A physics-guided hybrid GRU-XGBoost ensemble is developed to combine temporal learning from dynamic resistance and electrode-force signals with process-physics-related scalar features describing heat input, resistance state, and force response. The framework was evaluated on 2730 valid welds, including 588 expulsion and 2142 non-expulsion welds, using weld-grouped five-fold cross-validation with fold-level working-point selection. The ensemble achieved an area under the ROC curve of 0.945 ± 0.004 and a weld-level recall of 90.6 ± 3.7% at an average false alarm rate of 9.8 ± 0.2%, outperforming both individual branches. For the 533 correctly warned expulsion welds, the median early-warning lead time was 56 ms. These results indicate that online, physically interpretable pre-expulsion risk prediction is feasible under low-false-alarm constraints within the investigated RSW configuration and provide a basis for future adaptive monitoring and control studies."}],"file":[{"date_created":"2026-07-18T12:04:02Z","creator":"kekeyang","file_id":"66542","content_type":"application/pdf","success":1,"relation":"main_file","date_updated":"2026-07-18T12:04:02Z","file_name":"1-s2.0-S1526612526007012-main.pdf","file_size":10864983,"access_level":"closed"}],"date_created":"2026-07-18T12:03:15Z","keyword":["Resistance spot welding","Expulsion prediction","Physics-guided machine learning","Hybrid ensemble modelling","Process monitoring"],"type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"157"}],"year":"2026","title":"A physics-guided hybrid framework for online pre-expulsion prediction in resistance spot welding","author":[{"id":"65085","full_name":"Yang, Keke","last_name":"Yang","orcid":"0000-0001-9201-9304","first_name":"Keke"},{"full_name":"Li, Chong","last_name":"Li","first_name":"Chong"},{"last_name":"Beck","first_name":"Robert","orcid":"0000-0001-9056-4528","full_name":"Beck, Robert","id":"38279"},{"id":"7728","full_name":"Hein, David","last_name":"Hein","first_name":"David"},{"id":"32056","full_name":"Meschut, Gerson","last_name":"Meschut","first_name":"Gerson","orcid":"0000-0002-2763-1246"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["1526-6125"]},"publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-07-18T12:07:50Z","article_type":"original","intvolume":" 174","main_file_link":[{"open_access":"1"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"10.1016/j.jmapro.2026.07.042","file_date_updated":"2026-07-18T12:04:02Z","citation":{"short":"K. Against the backdrop of platform capitalism, AI‐driven communication, surveillance infrastructures, disinformation and democratic crisis, the study asks how experts in digital democracy assess the present condition and possible futures of digital society. To address this question, the paper draws on the Futures of Digital Democracy Survey (FDDS), a two‐round international expert survey involving researchers, practitioners and civil society actors working in the fields of digital democracy, media, Internet governance and digital society. Combining futures research, scenario analysis, and qualitative and quantitative content analysis, the study investigates competing trajectories of digital development ranging from participatory digital democracy to corporate and state‐controlled digital fascism. The findings reveal a profound tension at the heart of contemporary digital society: while respondents overwhelmingly imagine an ideal future democracy in participatory and deliberative terms—centred on citizens’ assemblies, digital participation, public‐service Internet platforms and democratic AI—they simultaneously express deep pessimism about the actual direction of digital capitalism and platform power. Experts consider authoritarian and fascistic digital futures significantly more likely than democratic ones. The paper analyses these contradictions by examining the relationship between deliberative democracy, constitutional rights, platform governance, digital commons, public service media, AI, surveillance and the political economy of Big Tech. It argues that democracy in the digital age can only survive if participatory and deliberative digital structures are institutionally combined with constitutional safeguards, public ownership, democratic regulation and the defence of human rights. By bringing together debates on digital democracy, authoritarianism, political economy and digital futures, the paper offers both a critical diagnosis of the contemporary digital condition and a normative vision of democratic alternatives in the age of AI and platform capitalism.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Policy & Internet","issue":"3","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"136"},{"_id":"11"}],"date_created":"2026-07-28T18:09:19Z"},{"external_id":{"unknown":["https://www.medienpaed.com/article/view/2066/1619"]},"oa":"1","citation":{"mla":"Schmidt, Rebecca, et al. “Stereotype Darstellungen im Bild.
Here, we present a systematic optical investigation of large‐scale 3D AuNP assemblies fabricated via meniscus‐guided assembly, focusing on the reproducibility, spatial uniformity, and mode evolution of their plasmonic responses. Spatially‐resolved dark‐field scattering measurements reveal that high‐aspect‐ratio AuNP pillars exhibit uniform scattering spectra along their height and across different pillars, despite variations in geometry and structure. Electromagnetic simulations suggest that this robustness arises from a collective many‐particle plasmonic response that remains optically active despite structural perturbations. The corresponding near‐field and surface‐charge distributions remain spatially distributed under representative structural perturbations, consistent with volumetric averaging across the three‐dimensional assembly. Building on this robust platform, we introduce compositional modulation through a core–satellite architecture by incorporating smaller AuNPs. This yields a composition‐dependent spectral redistribution, including the emergence of an additional long‐wavelength spectral feature in the core–satellite assemblies. Wavelength‐dependent surface‐enhanced Raman scattering measurements reveal contrasting responses under 633 and 785 nm excitation, reflecting redistribution of local plasmonic coupling pathways. These results provide process‐enabled guidelines for using meniscus‐guided 3D‐nanoprinting to realize robust nanoparticle assemblies."}],"publication":"Laser & Photonics Reviews","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"15"},{"_id":"230"},{"_id":"289"},{"_id":"623"}],"date_created":"2026-08-03T06:43:03Z"},{"citation":{"ama":"Schmidt R. As programmable digital architectures, they both shape and are shaped by teachers’ and students’ practices. Building on two Action Research projects in German schools, the article concentrates on the reproduction of inequality within platformized classrooms. It uses the focus point of translation software usage to explore inscriptions into digital architectures. Analysing breakdowns of translation software usage among students who speak German as a second/foreign language, the article focuses on inscribed power dynamics within translation software, the mismatch between students’ practices and the imagined user, and the discrepancy between software logics and the educational setting. Discussing teachers’ invisible work, care and belonging in platformized education settings, the article highlights the epistemic inscriptions within technology. It describes how dataveillance and testing break down when students use translation software, thereby highlighting teachers’ shift towards creating a collective understanding. To support the development of knowledge networks with undergraduate students of comparative literary and cultural studies, this project utilized portfolio work as a method of self-actuating and self-reflective learning suitable for motivating examinations of learning contents and contributing to students’ skill development. Using naturalistic observations of the portfolio work within the seminar, effects and developments were recorded. With partly quantitative, predominantly qualitative content analyses of the portfolios, concrete connections between learning contents were determined. The explorative study shows changed perspectives and peaked interests of the students because of portfolio work as well as diverse contextualisations, comparisons and connections in the portfolios, thus offering a possible starting point for structural recommendations for the discipline of comparative literary and cultural studies."}],"date_created":"2025-09-29T12:34:48Z","department":[{"_id":"116"}],"type":"journal_article","keyword":["Portfolioarbeit","portfolio work","vernetztes Wissen","knowledge networks","Beobachtung","naturalistic observation","Inhaltsanalyse","content analysis"],"author":[{"id":"27419","orcid":"0009-0005-8959-6182","first_name":"Ronja","last_name":"Hannebohm","full_name":"Hannebohm, Ronja"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["2199–8825"]},"year":"2026","title":"Potenziale der Portfolioarbeit für den Aufbau vernetzten Wissens im Bachelorstudium: Eine Explorationsstudie im Studienfach Komparatistik/Vergleichende Literatur- und Kulturwissenschaft","article_type":"original","intvolume":" 12","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-08-04T13:00:09Z","language":[{"iso":"ger"}],"main_file_link":[{"url":"https://www.wbv.de/shop/openaccess-direct/HSL2606W","open_access":"1"}],"doi":"10.3278/HSL2606W"},{"user_id":"251","ddc":["200"],"volume":25,"page":"282-296","publisher":"LibreCat University","_id":"66643","has_accepted_license":"1","status":"public","oa":"1","quality_controlled":"1","file_date_updated":"2026-08-04T08:54:09Z","citation":{"mla":"Karsch, Manfred, et al. “Kurzfilme als Kommunikations-, Kompensations-, Diskurs- und Inter-/Intramedien. Companies face significant challenges in systematically monitoring and interpreting heterogeneous environmental data originating from diverse sources, formats, and temporal contexts. While predefined workflows and decision trees can support strategic analysis, they often lack the flexibility required to cope with dynamic market conditions and foresightrelated data from extreme dispersed and heterogeneous sources. This paper proposes a method to enhance corporate resilience through the application of generic, reusable AI-based workflows in strategic product planning. The approach integrates Data Science and Artificial Intelligence methods into modular, visually modelled workflows that enable hybrid human-AI decision-making. Based on a systematic literature review and an analysis of industrial challenges, key success factors and resilience criteria are identified. These insights are used to develop a method that supports internal and external analyses, scenario-based strategy development, and adaptive implementation monitoring within a generic workflow structure. The method leverages techniques such as machine learning and generative AI to process structured and unstructured data, identify patterns, and support real-time strategic assessments. Validation with decision-makers from medium-sized companies demonstrates improved transparency, repeatability, and cross-functional collaboration compared to predefined workflows."}],"date_created":"2026-08-13T13:08:25Z","type":"conference","department":[{"_id":"43"},{"_id":"9"},{"_id":"26"},{"_id":"152"}],"year":"2026","status":"public","title":"Corporate resilience through generic AI-based workflows in strategic product planning","conference":{"name":"International Symposium on Hybrid Intelligence in Product and Production Engineering 1. 2026 Paderborn","start_date":"2026-03-24","location":"Paderborn","end_date":"2026-03-26"},"author":[{"id":"58595","full_name":"Özcan, Deniz","first_name":"Deniz","last_name":"Özcan"},{"last_name":"Gräßler","orcid":"0000-0001-5765-971X","first_name":"Iris","full_name":"Gräßler, Iris","id":"47565"}],"date_updated":"2026-08-13T13:12:01Z","_id":"66709","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"publisher":"Universitätsbibliothek","doi":"10.17619/UNIPB/1-2636","user_id":"58595","editor":[{"full_name":"Graessler, Iris","last_name":"Graessler","first_name":"Iris"}]}]
