Due to poor weldability of aluminum in combination with other materials, mechanical joining methods such as clinching were developed and established in series production. In order to predict the relevant characteristics of clinched joints and to ensure the reliability of the process, it is simulated numerically during product development processes. In this regard, the predictive accuracy of the simulated process highly depends on the implemented friction model. In particular, the frictional behavior between the sheet metals as well as between the sheet metal and clinching tools has a significant impact on the geometrical formation of the clinched joint. No testing methods exist that can sufficiently investigate the frictional behavior in sheet materials, especially under high interface pressures, different relative velocities, and long friction paths, while allowing a decoupled consideration of the test parameters. This paper describes the development of further testing concepts based on a proven tribo-torsion test method for determining friction coefficients between sheet metal materials for the simulation of clinching processes. For this purpose, the correlation of interface pressure and the relative velocity between aluminum and steel sheet material in clinching processes is investigated using numerical simulation. Based on these findings, the developed concepts focus on determining friction coefficients at interface pressures of the above materials, yield stress, as well as the reproduction of the occurring friction conditions between sheet metal materials and tool surfaces in clinching processes using tool substitutes. Furthermore, wear investigations between sheet metal material and tool surface were carried out in the friction tests with subsequent EDX analyses of the frictioned tool surfaces. The developed method also allows an optical deformation measurement of the sheet metal material specimen by means of digital image correlation (DIC). Based on a methodological approach, the test setups and the test systems used are explained, and the functionality of the concepts is proven by experimental tests using different sheet metal materials.
","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"157"},{"_id":"630"}],"date_created":"2021-10-06T10:39:08Z","status":"public","user_id":"45779","_id":"25556","quality_controlled":"1","project":[{"_id":"130","grant_number":"418701707","name":"TRR 285: TRR 285"},{"_id":"131","name":"TRR 285 - A: TRR 285 - Project Area A"},{"_id":"135","name":"TRR 285 – A01: TRR 285 - Subproject A01"}],"citation":{"short":"M. Interaktion. Organisation.
","lang":"eng"}]},{"date_created":"2021-11-25T14:12:22Z","department":[{"_id":"78"}],"type":"journal_article","keyword":["Software Analysis","Abstract Interpretation","Custom Instruction","Hardware Verification"],"publication":"IEEE Access","abstract":[{"text":"Verification of software and processor hardware usually proceeds separately, software analysis relying on the correctness of processors executing machine instructions. This assumption is valid as long as the software runs on standard CPUs that have been extensively validated and are in wide use. However, for processors exploiting custom instruction set extensions to meet performance and energy constraints the validation might be less extensive, challenging the correctness assumption. In this paper we present a novel formal approach for hardware/software co-verification targeting processors with custom instruction set extensions. We detail two different approaches for checking whether the hardware fulfills the requirements expected by the software analysis. The approaches are designed to explore a trade-off between generality of the verification and computational effort. Then, we describe the integration of software and hardware analyses for both techniques and describe a fully automated tool chain implementing the approaches. Finally, we demonstrate and compare the two approaches on example source code with custom instructions, using state-of-the-art software analysis and hardware verification techniques.","lang":"eng"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"10.1109/ACCESS.2021.3131213","author":[{"full_name":"Jakobs, Marie-Christine","first_name":"Marie-Christine","last_name":"Jakobs"},{"full_name":"Pauck, Felix","last_name":"Pauck","first_name":"Felix","id":"22398"},{"last_name":"Platzner","first_name":"Marco","full_name":"Platzner, Marco","id":"398"},{"last_name":"Wehrheim","first_name":"Heike","full_name":"Wehrheim, Heike","id":"573"},{"id":"3118","full_name":"Wiersema, Tobias","first_name":"Tobias","last_name":"Wiersema"}],"title":"Software/Hardware Co-Verification for Custom Instruction Set Processors","year":"2021","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2023-01-18T08:34:50Z","citation":{"bibtex":"@article{Jakobs_Pauck_Platzner_Wehrheim_Wiersema_2021, title={Software/Hardware Co-Verification for Custom Instruction Set Processors}, DOI={<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1109/ACCESS.2021.3131213\">10.1109/ACCESS.2021.3131213</a>}, journal={IEEE Access}, publisher={IEEE}, author={Jakobs, Marie-Christine and Pauck, Felix and Platzner, Marco and Wehrheim, Heike and Wiersema, Tobias}, year={2021} }","ama":"Jakobs M-C, Pauck F, Platzner M, Wehrheim H, Wiersema T. More than 40,000 matches before and during the pandemic, including more than 1,000 professional matches without spectators across the main European football leagues, have been analyzed. Results support the notion of a crowd-induced referee bias as the increased sanctioning of away teams disappears in the absence of spectators with regard to fouls (p &lt; .001), yellow cards (p &lt; .001), and red cards (p &lt; .05). Moreover, the match dominance of home teams decreases significantly as indicated by shots (p &lt; .001) and shots on target (p &lt; .01). In terms of the home advantage itself, surprisingly, only a non-significant decrease is found. While the present paper supports prior research with regard to a crowd-induced referee bias, spectators thus do not seem to be the main driving factor of the home advantage. Results from amateur football, being naturally played in absence of a crowd, provide further evidence that the home advantage is predominantly caused by factors not directly or indirectly attributable to a noteworthy number of spectators.
","lang":"eng"}],"date_created":"2023-01-20T14:25:45Z","department":[{"_id":"266"}],"keyword":["Multidisciplinary"],"type":"journal_article","status":"public","publisher":"Public Library of Science (PLoS)","_id":"37782","volume":16,"user_id":"75770","citation":{"mla":"Wunderlich, Fabian, et al. “How Does Spectator Presence Affect Football? The question arises if this is also true for the performance in mental body-rotation tasks (MBRT).\r\nAIM: Taking the embodied cognition approach into account, the first aim of the present study was to examine the potential influence of different demands on dynamic stability for two postures (parallel stand vs. tandem stand) on solving two versions of the MBRT, inducing either an object-based or an egocentric perspective transformation strategy. The second aim was to investigate if these different demands on dynamic stability are reflected in postural sway parameters.\r\nMETHOD: Thirty participants (18 females and 12 males) were tested in the two MBRTs and in a control condition. All tasks were performed while standing on a balance beam in tandem stand and in a feet parallel position on a force plate.\r\nRESULTS: The results for response time and response error revealed effects of rotation angle and task, but no effect of posture. The analyzed Center of Pressure (CoP) data revealed a reduction of body sway during the MBRT for egocentric perspective transformations.\r\nCONCLUSION: The results indicate that participants performed better for egocentric than for object-based transformations and that the egocentric transformation leads to more postural stability than the object-based.
","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Brazilian Journal of Motor Behavior","issue":"3","doi":"10.20338/bjmb.v15i3.250","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"date_updated":"2023-01-23T13:32:15Z","publication_status":"published","intvolume":" 15","title":"Mental body rotation with egocentric and object-based transformations in different postures: standing vs. balancing","year":"2021","author":[{"full_name":"Budde, Kirsten","last_name":"Budde","first_name":"Kirsten"},{"last_name":"Jöllenbeck","first_name":"Thomas","full_name":"Jöllenbeck, Thomas"},{"full_name":"Barela, José A.","last_name":"Barela","first_name":"José A."},{"last_name":"Figueiredo","first_name":"Gabriella A.","full_name":"Figueiredo, Gabriella A."},{"id":"36388","full_name":"Weigelt, Matthias","first_name":"Matthias","last_name":"Weigelt"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["2446-4902","1980-5586"]},"quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"chicago":"Budde, Kirsten, Thomas Jöllenbeck, José A.
