Economies of worth, Princeton University Press, Princeton, 2006). From 1999 to 2017, the criteria have been subject to continuous efforts of legitimation, especially by the German Länder, which are in charge of public higher education in Germany. The empirical analysis shows that industrial (e.g., ‘standardization’), civic (e.g., ‘gender justice and equal opportunities’), and civic-industrial (e.g., ‘employability’) codings are the core of accreditation criteria. The normativity of these criteria constitutes accreditation as a technical arrangement running (a) a structural program (e.g., qualifications of academic teachers, modularization of study programs, and quality management) and (b) a political program (e.g., diversity of students and system of studies). Based on the empirical analysis, it is concluded that X does not stand for the accreditation of quality X. X stands for the accreditation of X qualities for specific normative purposes via the higher education accreditation regime."}],"publication":"Higher Education Policy","doi":"10.1057/s41307-018-0111-y","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"main_file_link":[{"url":"https://link.springer.com/article/10.1057/s41307-018-0111-y","open_access":"1"}],"article_type":"original","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2023-01-13T10:02:52Z","author":[{"last_name":"Schneijderberg","first_name":"Christian","full_name":"Schneijderberg, Christian"},{"full_name":"Steinhardt, Isabel","last_name":"Steinhardt","orcid":"https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2590-6189","first_name":"Isabel","id":"90339"}],"publication_identifier":{"issn":["0952-8733","1740-3863"]},"year":"2018","title":"Accreditation of X Qualities Instead of Quality X: A Normative Analysis of Criteria of the German Higher Education Accreditation Regime"},{"date_created":"2019-07-30T14:35:15Z","department":[{"_id":"54"}],"oa":"1","type":"conference","citation":{"short":"C. In contrast to this, reinforcement learning adopts a data-driven approach and constructs an optimal control strategy by interacting with the underlying system. To keep the wear of real-world systems as low as possible, the learning process should be short. In our research, we used the state-of-the-art reinforcement learning method PILCO to design a feedback control strategy for the swing-up of the double pendulum on a cart with remarkably few test iterations at the test bench. PILCO stands for “probabilistic inference for learning control” and requires only few expert knowledge for learning. To achieve the swing-up of a double pendulum on a cart to its upper unstable equilibrium position, we introduce additional state restrictions to PILCO, so that the limited cart distance can be taken into account. Thanks to these measures, we were able to learn the swing up at the real test bench for the first time and in only 27 learning iterations.","lang":"eng"}],"quality_controlled":"1","page":"15 - 20","_id":"22996","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"user_id":"29222","volume":24,"year":"2018","title":"A Reinforcement Learning Strategy for the Swing-Up of the Double Pendulum on a Cart","status":"public","author":[{"id":"29222","full_name":"Hesse, Michael","first_name":"Michael","last_name":"Hesse"},{"id":"15402","last_name":"Timmermann","first_name":"Julia","full_name":"Timmermann, Julia"},{"id":"48129","last_name":"Hüllermeier","first_name":"Eyke","full_name":"Hüllermeier, Eyke"},{"full_name":"Trächtler, Ansgar","first_name":"Ansgar","last_name":"Trächtler","id":"552"}],"date_updated":"2023-11-06T15:17:24Z","intvolume":" 24"},{"user_id":"242","main_file_link":[{"open_access":"1","url":"https://groups.uni-paderborn.de/nt/pubs/2018/ICMIM_2018_Haeb-Umbach_Paper.pdf"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"_id":"11747","date_updated":"2023-11-20T16:37:39Z","status":"public","year":"2018","title":"Discrimination of Stationary from Moving Targets with Recurrent Neural Networks in Automotive Radar","author":[{"full_name":"Grimm, Christopher","last_name":"Grimm","first_name":"Christopher"},{"full_name":"Breddermann, Tobias","last_name":"Breddermann","first_name":"Tobias"},{"full_name":"Farhoud, Ridha","first_name":"Ridha","last_name":"Farhoud"},{"last_name":"Fei","first_name":"Tai","full_name":"Fei, Tai"},{"full_name":"Warsitz, Ernst","last_name":"Warsitz","first_name":"Ernst"},{"id":"242","last_name":"Haeb-Umbach","first_name":"Reinhold","full_name":"Haeb-Umbach, Reinhold"}],"type":"conference","oa":"1","department":[{"_id":"54"}],"date_created":"2019-07-12T05:27:29Z","abstract":[{"text":"In this paper, we present a neural network based classification algorithm for the discrimination of moving from stationary targets in the sight of an automotive radar sensor. The recently proposed Hidden Markov Model Variational Autoencoder (HMMVAE) allows a joint training of a neural network based feature extractor and a structured prior for the latent space given by a Hidden Markov Model. It has been shown that the HMMVAE significantly outperforms pure GMM-HMM based systems on the AUD task. However, the HMMVAE cannot autonomously infer the number of acoustic units and thus relies on the GMM-HMM system for initialization. This paper introduces the Bayesian Hidden Markov Model Variational Autoencoder (BHMMVAE) which solves these issues by embedding the HMMVAE in a Bayesian framework with a Dirichlet Process Prior for the distribution of the acoustic units, and diagonal or full-covariance Gaussians as emission distributions. Experiments on TIMIT and Xitsonga show that the BHMMVAE is able to autonomously infer a reasonable number of acoustic units, can be initialized without supervision by a GMM-HMM system, achieves computationally efficient stochastic variational inference by using natural gradient descent, and, additionally, improves the AUD performance over the HMMVAE."}],"date_created":"2019-07-12T05:30:34Z","type":"conference","oa":"1","department":[{"_id":"54"}]},{"quality_controlled":"1","abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"Distributed sensor data acquisition usually encompasses data sampling by the individual devices, where each of them has its own oscillator driving the local sampling process, resulting in slightly different sampling rates at the individual sensor nodes. Nevertheless, for certain downstream signal processing tasks it is important to compensate even for small sampling rate offsets. Aligning the sampling rates of oscillators which differ only by a few parts-per-million, is, however, challenging and quite different from traditional multirate signal processing tasks. In this paper we propose to transfer a precise but computationally demanding time domain approach, inspired by the Nyquist-Shannon sampling theorem, to an efficient frequency domain implementation. To this end a buffer control is employed which compensates for sampling offsets which are multiples of the sampling period, while a digital filter, realized by the wellknown Overlap-Save method, handles the fractional part of the sampling phase offset. With experiments on artificially misaligned data we investigate the parametrization, the efficiency, and the induced distortions of the proposed resampling method. It is shown that a favorable compromise between residual distortion and computational complexity is achieved, compared to other sampling rate offset compensation techniques."}],"citation":{"bibtex":"@inproceedings{Schmalenstroeer_Haeb-Umbach_2018, title={Efficient Sampling Rate Offset Compensation - An Overlap-Save Based Approach}, booktitle={26th European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO 2018)}, author={Schmalenstroeer, Joerg and Haeb-Umbach, Reinhold}, year={2018} }","ama":"Schmalenstroeer J, Haeb-Umbach R. To reduce the communication demand with a central server and to raise the privacy level it is desirable to perform processing at node level. The limited processing and memory capabilities on a sensor node, however, stand in contrast to the compute and memory intensive deep learning algorithms used in modern speech and audio processing. In this work, we perform benchmarking of commonly used convolutional and recurrent neural network architectures on a Raspberry Pi based acoustic sensor node. We show that it is possible to run medium-sized neural network topologies used for speech enhancement and speech recognition in real time. For acoustic event recognition, where predictions in a lower temporal resolution are sufficient, it is even possible to run current state-of-the-art deep convolutional models with a real-time-factor of 0:11."}],"quality_controlled":"1","main_file_link":[{"url":"https://groups.uni-paderborn.de/nt/pubs/2018/ITG_2018_Ebbers_Paper.pdf","open_access":"1"}],"_id":"11836","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"user_id":"460","year":"2018","status":"public","title":"Benchmarking Neural Network Architectures for Acoustic Sensor Networks","author":[{"full_name":"Ebbers, Janek","last_name":"Ebbers","first_name":"Janek","id":"34851"},{"id":"27643","last_name":"Heitkaemper","first_name":"Jens","full_name":"Heitkaemper, Jens"},{"last_name":"Schmalenstroeer","first_name":"Joerg","full_name":"Schmalenstroeer, Joerg","id":"460"},{"first_name":"Reinhold","last_name":"Haeb-Umbach","full_name":"Haeb-Umbach, Reinhold","id":"242"}],"date_updated":"2023-10-26T08:12:40Z"},{"main_file_link":[{"url":"https://groups.uni-paderborn.de/nt/pubs/2018/ITG_2018_Schmalenstroeer_Paper.pdf","open_access":"1"}],"_id":"11839","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"user_id":"460","status":"public","year":"2018","title":"Insights into the Interplay of Sampling Rate Offsets and MVDR Beamforming","author":[{"id":"460","first_name":"Joerg","last_name":"Schmalenstroeer","full_name":"Schmalenstroeer, Joerg"},{"full_name":"Haeb-Umbach, Reinhold","first_name":"Reinhold","last_name":"Haeb-Umbach","id":"242"}],"date_updated":"2023-10-26T08:12:22Z","date_created":"2019-07-12T05:29:15Z","type":"conference","oa":"1","department":[{"_id":"54"}],"publication":"ITG 2018, Oldenburg, Germany","citation":{"short":"J. In this paper we derive an analytic model to study the impact of SRO on the estimation of the spatial noise covariance matrix used in MVDR beamforming. It is shown that a perfect compensation of the SRO is impossible if the noise covariance matrix is estimated by time averaging, even if the SRO is perfectly known. The SRO should therefore be compensated for prior to beamformer coefficient estimation. We present a novel scheme where SRO compensation and beamforming closely interact, saving some computational effort compared to separate SRO adjustment followed by acoustic beamforming.","lang":"eng"}],"quality_controlled":"1"},{"_id":"23535","publisher":"Trauner Verlag","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"page":"189-195","editor":[{"first_name":"Petr","last_name":"Doucek","full_name":"Doucek, Petr"},{"full_name":"Chroust, Gerhard","first_name":"Gerhard","last_name":"Chroust"},{"last_name":"Oskrdal","first_name":"Václav","full_name":"Oskrdal, Václav"}],"volume":47,"user_id":"405","conference":{"start_date":"2018-09-05","name":" IDIMT-2018","location":"Kutná Hora, Czech Republic, 5. - 7. In this perspective, ‚digital collections‘, ‚digital libraries‘, etc. are in fact hybrid collections, or libraries. For musical artefacts, the range of historical media is especially complex, which again concerns the digital world. Digital Humanities publications also contribute to the complex and confusing situation as they themselves are not only ‚information‘, but as a rule, complex and hybrid textual systems that often contain complete digitized re-publications of cultural objects, providing them with digital ‚inscriptions‘, and interlinking them. So the hybridity of ‚digital libraries‘ increases as soon as Digital Humanities publications are integrated. Therefore, metadata should mirror precisely the hybrid nature of the digitized/digital objects catalogued.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Bibliothek: Forschung und Praxis","issue":"2","department":[{"_id":"572"},{"_id":"856"},{"_id":"615"}],"type":"journal_article","date_created":"2023-09-27T07:04:19Z","intvolume":" 42","date_updated":"2024-02-19T11:03:58Z","publication_status":"published","publication_identifier":{"issn":["1865-7648","0341-4183"]},"author":[{"id":"61139","full_name":"Münzmay, Andreas","orcid":"0000-0002-8373-4055","last_name":"Münzmay","first_name":"Andreas"}],"year":"2018","title":"Lesen und Schreiben im digitalen Dickicht.
