If the investment level influences the riskiness of the investment project, the capital charge rate deviates from the firm's cost of capital and depends crucially on the manager's personal income tax rate. Contradicting conventional wisdom, we find that a higher personal income tax rate induces higher investment expenditures and, surprisingly, increases the capital charge rate. The countervailing effect that a higher capital charge rate induces higher and not lower investment expenditures persists for pre-tax and after-tax performance measures as well as when the tax deductibility of managerial compensation is limited. Corporate income tax causes a similar effect only in the case of limited tax deductibility of compensation. First, three artificial rough surfaces with similar structure but different asperity heights are generated and projected on a smooth ball. After that, a contact pattern is determined between a rough ball and a smooth surface taking into account the elastic only as well as the linear elastic-perfectly plastic material description. On the basis of the calculated contact pressure distribution, the subsurface stresses and a three-dimensional temperature distribution in the sliding contact are calculated. The solutions show that a low surface roughness not necessarily results in low local tribological load of the surface. Para tal efecto, se examinan\r\ndiferentes manifestaciones empíricas del capital intercultural y del analfabetismo intercultural: entre\r\nla población nacional, a través de las demandas de 49 comunidades indígenas sobre la evaluación\r\neducativa a nivel preescolar y primaria con base en un estudio de caso en la Escuela Normal\r\nSuperior de México, en donde se forma buena parte de los futuros maestros de secundaria del país.\r\nLos respectivos resultados cuantitativos y cualitativos demuestran las limitaciones y el potencial\r\nde la realización socioculturalmente justa de capital intercultural. Drawing on the findings of three recent research projects, the present article explores the prospects and limitations of intercultural capital realization in contemporary Mexico – at nearly two and a half decades of the country’s membership in the quintessentially neoliberal North Atlantic Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and with a particular interest in the field of intercultural education. Whilst the article does not engage in evaluations of NAFTA, nor offer a contribution to the critique of neoliberal globalization and the mercantilization of formal education, it nonetheless raises important questions for all those interested in alternative forms of intercultural cooperation that convey a vision beyond narrowly instrumental business interests. Se consideran (I) la valoración de la diversidad étnica-cultural y la presencia de los pueblos indígenas en términos de sus beneficios para México, (II) la percepción de la marginación de los pueblos originarios, (III) el nivel de apoyo al planteamiento de incluir la enseñanza de algunas lenguas indígenas en todas las escuelas de educación básica del país, (IV) la importancia atribuida a una formación magisterial inicial y continua que incluya prácticas profesionales en comunidades indígenas y (V) la importancia atribuida a la incorporación de temas interculturales en la formación magisterial inicial y continua. Por un lado, los respectivos datos empíricos demuestran una gran cercanía perceptual entre los encuestados indígenas (n=23) y los encuestados no indígenas (n=166), la cual es indicativa de un amplio consenso tras-étnico-cultural sobre el papel de las culturas indígenas del país y, particularmente, de su presencia dentro de la formación magisterial. The corresponding logistic regression model reveals a panorama of striking differences in the likelihood of intercultural capital embodiment – between receivers and non-receivers of formal education, between the economically affluent and non-affluent, between internet users and non-users, and between men and women. The respective findings offer an empirically grounded critique of voluntarist notions of personal intercultural development. An incremental rolling process is used for joint formation based on plastic deformation. The morphology, the chemical state of the modified surfaces as well as the cross-section, and local potential distribution of the welded zone is characterized by different microscopic and spectroscopic methods. The stability of the joint is analyzed by a shear-force test in combination with microscopic failure analysis. The surface morphology and the surface chemistry of the metal substrates were analyzed by means of FE-SEM, XPS, and FT-IRRAS. The spectroscopic data show that the MPTMS film is crosslinked via Si-O-Si bonds and that stable Cu-S and Si-O-Al interfacial bonds are formed. The shear-force tests of the joints led to force displacement curves that are characteristic for a covalently bonded interface. When they describe their wishes for software development, they often provide off-topic information. We therefore present an automated approach for identifying and semantically annotating the on-topic parts of the given descriptions. It is designed to support requirement engineers in the requirement elicitation process on detecting and analyzing requirements in user-generated content. Since no lexical resources with domain-specific information about requirements are available, we created a corpus of requirements written in controlled language by instructed users and uncontrolled language by uninstructed users. We annotated these requirements regarding predicate-argument structures, conditions, priorities, motivations and semantic roles and used this information to train classifiers for information extraction purposes. Der vorliegende Beitrag vermittelt einen Eindruck von den Belastungswirkungen, die aus der Umsetzung von aktuell vorliegenden Besteuerungskonzepten resultieren würden. Auf der Basis von realen Jahresabschlussdaten wird eine mehrperiodige Veranlagungssimulation durchgeführt, die insbesondere ermöglicht, den zu erwartenden Eigenkapitalverzehr sowie den Anstieg der Steuerbelastung für die betrachtete Stichprobe zu quantifizieren. Von besonderem Interesse sind hierbei Unternehmen, deren laufende Erträge nicht ausreichen, um die Belastungen durch die Vermögensteuer zu tragen und damit einem Substanzverzehr ausgesetzt sind. Es zeigt sich, dass etwa die Hälfte der Unternehmen im Untersuchungszeitraum von sechs Jahren in mindestens einem Jahr einen Substanzverzehr erfährt. Der Vermögensteuer kommt somit keinesfalls der vielfach postulierte Charakter einer eher mäßig belastenden und im Wesentlichen substanzverschonenden Steuer zu. Zusatzbelastungen von knapp 100 bis zu 300 % der Ertragsteuerlast sind keine Seltenheit und veranschaulichen das Gefährdungspotenzial dieser Steuer für den Wirtschaftsstandort Deutschland."},{"text":"The (re-)introduction of a wealth tax has again become the subject of political debate in recent years. This paper analyzes the impact of implementing the concepts under discussion on the overall tax burden and on companies’ equity. Simulating a tax assessment based on real annual financial statement data from German listed firms in a multi-period setting, we quantify the expected equity erosion as well as the increase in the tax burden for the companies in our sample that is induced by wealth taxation at the corporate and shareholder level. Special attention is given to companies whose current yield is very low and thus would have to take additional loans or liquidate assets to settle their wealth tax bill. Our findings indicate that around half of the companies would suffer from wealth tax-induced asset erosion in at least one year within the six-year period under review.
