text: This qualitative case study investigates how automated feedback from a widely
accessible digital curriculum resource influences students’ mathematics learning.
Drawing on a dialogic feedback framework, the study analyzes students’ feedback
processes in an ecologically valid learning context. Grounded in a sociocultural
perspective, the framework integrates Carless’ dialogic conceptualization of feedback,
Shute’s feedback typology, and Vergnaud’s scheme theory. Eight eighth-graders
from a German secondary school worked individually on percentage problems at home,
video-recorded via online conferencing. Data included screen recordings and think-aloud
protocols, which were analyzed using qualitative text analysis. Results reveal
large individual differences in feedback processes—students vary in when and how
they access feedback messages and how they make sense of them. Successfully solving
a task after feedback does not always indicate understanding; in some cases, feedback
aided procedural completion without conceptual insight. The effectiveness depended
on the alignment between task design, feedback message content, and students’
actual difficulties. The study concludes that qualitative analysis of feedback
processes with digital technologies in ecologically valid settings is necessary
to target specific student difficulties and promote learning.

text: Background – This study draws on data from a larger international project
exploring parents' perceptions of the education of their children with special
educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND). Using responses from 1, 309 parents
in Australia, England, Germany, and Norway it examines parental satisfaction with
mainstream and special schools, and parents' school placement preferences, including
willingness to change schools. Parental satisfaction is assessed as an overall
evaluation of how well the child's school placement meets their needs, without
distinguishing between specific aspects of the school experience. The study also
explores whether the child's level of support is associated with these perceptions.
Based on a human rights perspective, we highlight parents’ perspectives and their
role in the development of more inclusive education systems, without promoting
one model of schooling over another. Methods – Responses from 1, 309 parents across
four countries were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Non-parametric
tests compared satisfaction across school types, chi-squared tests assessed associations
with willingness to change schools, and binary logistic regression examined whether
level of support was associated with parents' willingness to change school placement.
Results – Parents in England, Germany, and Norway reported higher satisfaction
with special schools than with mainstream schools. No statistically significant
difference was observed in Australia. Parents of children in special schools were
less likely to report considering changing schools, particularly in England and
Norway. Higher pupil support needs were significantly associated with parents’
willingness to change school across the combined sample. These findings suggest
that parental satisfaction with their child's education and their preferences
regarding school placement may be shaped by both school type and how well pupils'
support needs are perceived to be met. Discussion and conclusion – The role of
parents as key stakeholders in developing inclusive education systems, consistent
with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) is emphasised.
While parents in special schools in three of the four countries reported higher
satisfaction, the reasons for this remain unclear. Understanding the factors shaping
parental satisfaction is essential for developing inclusive and responsive learning
environments. These findings offer a starting point for future research on how
education systems can better align policy commitments with families’ lived experiences.

text: 'Tacit knowledge is particularly valuable in product engineering. Experiences
reside in minds of employees and are not systematically documented but could have
a significant influence on sustainable product engineering. Existing approaches
do not offer sufficient support for harnessing technical tacit knowledge regarding
sustainable product engineering. In this paper a three-step method is presented:
The method contains knowledge acquisition, requirements extraction und requirements
validation for quality assurance. Acquisition is performed by support artifacts
like interview guidelines. Extraction is supported by Artificial Intelligence,
converting statements into requirements. These requirements are validated using
a specific questionnaire. The developed approach is applied in a funded project
of the European Union (EU) with automotive industry partners. The method supports
product engineers to collect tacit knowledge from experienced employees, transform
unsystematic knowledge into standardized technical requirements and validate them.
Application of this method enables creation of validated requirements that can
be applied throughout the company and are not exclusively dependent on a single
    employee.'

text: Janus metasurfaces have attracted considerable attention in encrypted communication,
imaging, and display due to their unusual bidirectional asymmetric optical manipulation
characteristics. Particularly, their multifunctionalization is of great significance
for enhancing the compactness and integration of optical systems. However, the
realization of multifunctional Janus metasurfaces in the optical band still faces
enormous difficulties and challenges, which are essentially limited by the anti-error
design and processing methods of multi-layer cascade metasurfaces. Here, a triple-layer
Janus metasurface based on cascaded plasmonic nano-antenna arrays fully buried
in SiO2 is constructed. Among them, the cascaded plasma nano-antenna consists
of two types of enantiomers for each wavelength. Each enantiomer is fabricated
with two layers of L-shaped nanostructures with phase modulation and one layer
of dimer nanostructures with polarization selection stacked alternately along
the optical axis. We experimentally show that the Janus metasurface achieves bidirectional
asymmetric multi-channel holographic encryption, simultaneously using propagation
direction, phase, polarization, and wavelength for the first time in the near-infrared
band, which is expected to provide a frontier route for multifunctional optical
displays, high-level optical information encryption, and large-capacity full-duplex
    communication.

text: We revisit the under-explored phenomenon of syntactic complexity convergence
in dialogue. Extending prior topic-level analyses to full conversations, we examine
five human-human datasets and a set of human-LLM dialogues. We integrate and evaluate
a multidimensional set of syntactic complexity metrics to quantify structural
variation in dialogue. Our analyses reveal robust syntactic complexity convergence
across human-human datasets, especially in task-oriented interactions, and statistical
tests confirm that these effects are not due to chance. In contrast, human-LLM
dialogues show no significant convergence under individual metrics; however, linear-CKA
uncovers a distinct cross-metric convergence pattern. Motivated by these differences,
we use syntactic complexity as a feature for detecting LLM-involved dialogue,
achieving 96\% accuracy. Our classification results demonstrate its potential
without relying on likelihood-based signals such as surprisal, which require a
    language model as the estimator.

text: This study examines the impact of tax certainty through advance tax rulings
(ATRs) on firms’ risky investments under cash flow and tax uncertainty. Both firms
and governments have expressed growing concern about increasing tax uncertainty,
due to frequent tax reforms and the difficulty in applying ambiguous tax laws
and anticipating audit outcomes. One remedy is the provision of ATRs, which offer
upfront clarification of tax issues to reduce tax uncertainty and increase risk-taking.
We analyze how these uncertainties, along with different tax rates, loss offset
provisions, and ATR fees affect investment strategies. Our results suggest, first,
that ATRs encourage riskier investments, particularly in tax regimes with generous
loss offsets. We identify optimal ranges of ATR fees that benefit firms and tax
authorities. Second, we show that it may be beneficial to design ATRs with a low
or negative fee. Third, our study reveals a U-shaped relationship between firms’
risk aversion and their willingness to pay for tax certainty, with willingness
being higher for firms at low or high levels of risk aversion. In contrast, moderately
risk-averse firms are only willing to accept low fees. Overall, our results highlight
the importance of low-cost tax certainty combined with generous loss offset provisions
    to encourage risky investments.

  text:
In order to make rail transportation more attractive compared to motorized
private transport, intelligent solutions are required across the entire mobility
chain. Train stations, as places of connection and transfer, offer the greatest
potential in this context. Thus, the deployment of autonomous service robots at
train stations offers a wide range of possibilities for supporting passengers
on their journeys by rail, for example, by providing information, accompanying
them to the next link in the mobility chain, or transporting their luggage. Since
such robots are battery-powered, one challenge is to carefully plan activities
based on the remaining battery capacity. Therefore, the aim of this work is to
predict battery usage and, in turn, battery state, in order to inform passengers,
and to enable intelligent planning of its usage. In this work, realistic operational
conditions of a service robot are systematically assessed through measurements
on the service robot itself and through passenger surveys at a train station.
The estimated operational conditions are experimentally replicated to simulate
the heterogeneous use of the battery pack, while acquiring condition monitoring
data throughout its use. The battery pack is modeled based on the single particle
model, which can robustly predict the battery state by simulating its usage considering
past operational conditions. The approach is validated using experimental data
obtained from simulating realistic usage. On the one hand, additional battery
packs are employed, and on the other hand, the load is varied. The advantage of
this approach lies in the ability to account for future changes, such as higher
loads than anticipated, to provide robust predictions. This enables the intelligent
use of service robots, offering passengers an improved service experience at train
    stations.

text: Approval of products in safety-sensitive areas, such as medical technology,
requires considerable effort. Companies must comply with numerous regulations
for such product approvals. This results in requirements for processes, methods,
tools and organizations throughout the product life cycle. A proven approach to
handling regulatory requirements is the application of product lifecycle management
(PLM) platforms. Applying PLM platforms (e.g. Teamcenter, 3DExperience) poses
challenges in designing compliant processes as well as adapting methods and tools.
For example, in medical technology, ISO 13485 specifies an industry-specific product
engineering process. The exemplary adaptations of requirements engineering methods
and related support – e.g. MBSE including Requirements Diagrams – are not intuitively
apparent. Existing literature primarily regards these regulation-related challenges
as boundary conditions, offering only vague operational solutions. Companies struggle
to align PLM processes with regulatory requirements, yet few methods exist to
support this integration. In this paper, a method is proposed that supports the
application of regulation-centered PLM platforms and reduces effort in product
approvals. The method is developed by applying a five-step approach. Existing
literature on process models for applying PLM platforms is identified (1). The
identified approaches are then analyzed to determine whether and to what extent
they consider regulations in applying PLM platforms (2). Based on identified partial
solutions from literature and findings from industry workshops, a new method is
developed (3). The method comprises strategic level, process level, data level,
pilot level, and operation level. Validation is conducted within a German medical
technology company, containing proof of applicability determined through a pilot
project (4) and proof of concept achieved through interviews (5). The method is
applied to regulation-centered PLM for the use case ‘requirements engineering’.
The concept is confirmed by experts in terms of applicability and transferability.
The method supports engineers in applying regulation-centered PLM platforms, leading
    to reduced effort.

Ansatz bezieht hierbei neben klassischen Modelldaten ebenfalls reale Prozessdaten

  text:
A common challenge of punch-bending is the control and compensation
of process deviations which are induced, e.g., by different material batches.
The resulting deviations are currently countered iteratively using expert knowledge
in the design phase as well as during the production process. However, this is
not always successful due to the complex interactions between semi-finished product
properties and forming tools. To automate the optimization of tool geometries
and process adjustments, an accurate prediction model of correlations between
process/tool parameters and product properties is necessary. In that regard, an
application programming interface (API) aligned with the Asset Administration
Shell (AAS) specification is developed utilizing a hybrid data-driven approach.
It enables the transformation of various data formats e.g., from sensor and simulation
data into a machine-readable structure. The API is linked to a digital twin and
a database, to automatically gather requested information and provide the new
structured data to a machine learning (ML) model. To validate the developed method,
hybrid punch-bending data is automatically transferred to an ML model which then
returns tool geometry suggestions for a defined product geometry.

text: ' Augmented Reality (AR) enables the presentation of models at the submicroscopic
level during chemical hands-on experiments and may thus support learners in connecting
macroscopic observations, submicroscopic processes, and symbolic representations.
Such connections are essential for understanding chemical phenomena, yet many
students struggle to establish them, leading to fragmented or purely descriptive
explanations. However, little is known about how AR influences the structure and
quality of learner-generated explanations during experimentation. In this quasi-experimental
pre-post study, three conditions were compared in grade 11 chemistry classes:
AR, animation, and filmstrip. Students (N = 104) worked in pairs on two acid-base
experiments and created explanatory screencasts, which were analyzed in two complementary
ways: network analysis was used to examine transitions between representational
levels, while a separate holistic coding scheme was applied to assess overall
explanatory quality. Across both experiments, students in the AR group integrated
submicroscopic entities into their explanations more frequently than students
in the other groups. However, this increased integration was not consistently
associated with higher explanatory quality. The findings suggest that AR can foster
representational integration, but that explicit scaffolding might be necessary
to translate this into high-quality causal explanations.'

  text: "
