text: The ability to openly evaluate products, locations and services is an achievement
of the Web 2.0. It has never been easier to inform oneself about the quality of
products or services and possible alternatives. Forming one’s own opinion based
on the impressions of other people can lead to better experiences. However, this
presupposes trust in one’s fellows as well as in the quality of the review platforms.
In previous work on physician reviews and the corresponding websites, it was observed
that there occurs faulty behavior by some reviewers and there were noteworthy
differences in the technical implementation of the portals and in the efforts
of site operators to maintain high quality reviews. These experiences raise new
questions regarding what trust means on review platforms, how trust arises and
how easily it can be destroyed.

text: Increased interconnectedness of multiple actors and digital resources in service
eco-systems offer new opportunities for service innovation. In digitally transforming
eco-systems, organizations need to explore and exploit innovation simultaneously,
which is defined as ambidexterity. However, research on ambidextrous service innovation
is scarce. We provide a systematic literature review based on the concepts of
ambidexterity, offering two contributions. First, research strands are disconnected,
emphasizing either exploration or exploitation of service innovation, despite
an organizations’ need to accelerate innovation cycles of exploring and exploiting
services. Second, a new framework for ambidextrous service innovation is provided,
inspired by the dynamism and generative mechanisms of the ontologically related
concept of organizational routines. The framework adopts the perspective of a
mutually constitutive relationship between exploring new and exploiting current
resources, activities, and knowledge. The findings remedy the scattered literature
through a coherent perspective on service innovation that responds to organizations’
    needs and guides future research.

text: As flexible optical devices that can manipulate the phase and amplitude of
light, metasurfaces would clearly benefit from directional optical properties.
However, single layer metasurface systems consisting of two-dimensional nanoparticle
arrays exhibit only a weak spatial asymmetry perpendicular to the surface and
therefore have mostly symmetric transmission features. Here, we present a metasurface
design principle for nonreciprocal polarization encryption of holographic images.
Our approach is based on a two-layer plasmonic metasurface design that introduces
a local asymmetry and generates a bidirectional functionality with full phase
and amplitude control of the transmitted light. The encoded hologram is designed
to appear in a particular linear cross-polarization channel, while it is disappearing
in the reverse propagation direction. Hence, layered metasurface systems can feature
asymmetric transmission with full phase and amplitude control and therefore expand
the design freedom in nanoscale optical devices toward asymmetric information
processing and security features for anticounterfeiting applications.

text: Stratix 10 FPGA cards have a good potential for the acceleration of HPC workloads
since the Stratix 10 product line introduces devices with a large number of DSP
and memory blocks. The high level synthesis of OpenCL codes can play a fundamental
role for FPGAs in HPC, because it allows to implement different designs with lower
development effort compared to hand optimized HDL. However, Stratix 10 cards are
still hard to fully exploit using the Intel FPGA SDK for OpenCL. The implementation
of designs with thousands of concurrent arithmetic operations often suffers from
place and route problems that limit the maximum frequency or entirely prevent
a successful synthesis. In order to overcome these issues for the implementation
of the matrix multiplication, we formulate Cannon's matrix multiplication algorithm
with regard to its efficient synthesis within the FPGA logic. We obtain a two-level
block algorithm, where the lower level sub-matrices are multiplied using our Cannon's
algorithm implementation. Following this design approach with multiple compute
units, we are able to get maximum frequencies close to and above 300 MHz with
high utilization of DSP and memory blocks. This allows for performance results
    above 1 TeraFLOPS.

text: "\r\nIn many cyber–physical systems, we encounter the problem of remote state
estimation of geo- graphically distributed and remote physical processes. This
paper studies the scheduling of sensor transmissions to estimate the states of
multiple remote, dynamic processes. Information from the different sensors has
to be transmitted to a central gateway over a wireless network for monitoring
purposes, where typically fewer wireless channels are available than there are
processes to be monitored. For effective estimation at the gateway, the sensors
need to be scheduled appropriately, i.e., at each time instant one needs to decide
which sensors have network access and which ones do not. To address this scheduling
problem, we formulate an associated Markov decision process (MDP). This MDP is
then solved using a Deep Q-Network, a recent deep reinforcement learning algorithm
that is at once scalable and model-free. We compare our scheduling algorithm to
popular scheduling algorithms such as round-robin and reduced-waiting-time, among
others. Our algorithm is shown to significantly outperform these algorithms for
    many example scenario"

text: In a variety of industrial applications, liquids are atomized to produce aerosols
for further processing. Example applications are the coating of surfaces with
paints, the application of ultra-thin adhesive layers and the atomization of fuels
for the production of combustible dispersions. In this publication different atomizing
principles (standing-wave, capillary-wave, vibrating-mesh) are examined and discussed.
Using an optimized standing-wave system, tough liquids with viscosities of up
to about 100 Pas could be successfully atomized.

text: "Die Komplexität von Steuersystemen gewinnt in der Debatte um den internationalen
Steuerwettbewerb zunehmend an Bedeutung. Im vorliegenden Beitrag erfolgt, basierend
auf den Befragungsdaten, die dem Tax Complexity Index von Hoppe et al. (2019)

von Deutschland und Österreich unter Berücksichtigung der Mittelwerte aller vom

text: The complexity of tax systems is becoming increasingly important in the debate
on international tax competition. Based on the underlying survey data of the Tax
Complexity Index of Hoppe et al. (2019), this article provides a comprehensive
comparison of the complexity of Germany’s and Austria’s tax systems while also
taking the mean values of all countries covered by the index into account. In
both Germany and Austria, the tax code is characterized by a relatively high degree
of complexity. In contrast, the tax framework has a low level of complexity in
both countries, with Austria being on average less complex than Germany.

text: In this paper, we first outline a Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT),
which aims at a formal understanding of the rules for manipulating integers. The
HLT is based on task formats, which promote algebraic thinking in terms of generalizing
rules from the analysis of patterns and should be familiar to students from their
mathematics education experiences in elementary school. Second, we analyze two
students' actual learning process based on Peircean semiotics. The analysis shows
that the actual learning process diverges from the hypothesized learning process
in that the students do not relate the different levels of the diagrams in a way
that allows them to extrapolate the rule for the subtraction of negative numbers.
Based on this finding, we point out consequences for the design of the tasks.
