text: '<p>This handbook systematises the current state of knowledge on subjects
of higher education research. It examines research, teaching and studies, the
transfer of knowledge related to research and teaching as well as universities
as organisations and their functions in the education and training systems. By
looking at the topics over time, this standard work also provides information
on university developments and their current state. The following question is
answered in 60 articles: What do we currently know about the topic under discussion,
what is the current state of research and what has remained unanswered so far?
This book is aimed at higher education, academic and educational research as well
as practitioners in higher education development and higher education policy. With

text: 'Critical political economy of communication and the media (CPECM) is an approach
and field of study that critically analyzes how the interaction of politics and
the economy in society shapes and is shaped by (mediated) communication. This
study asks: What is the role of methodology in the approach of CPECM? How are
methods and media ethics related in the critical study of media, economy, and
society? The article argues that CPECM is distinct in that it asks special types
of questions that are different from the questions asked by administrative research.
This study points out 10 methodological dimensions of CPECM. It argues that empirical
ideology critique should not be situated outside but inside of CPECM. It becomes
evident that, other than conventional methods in media and communication studies,
CPECM methodology is guided by ethics, moral philosophy, and critical theories.'

  text:
ABSTRACT
The use of digital tools for second
and foreign language lexical learning is increasingly popular and research in
this area is constantly expanding. However, little has been written about specific
criteria that could be used to identify tools with high‐quality lexical input,
as available checklists and frameworks for digital media tend to neglect detailed
analyses of the vocabulary domain. This article addresses this issue by presenting
the Checklist for Evaluating Digital Resources for Lexical Learning (DigiLex),
which combines important digital language learning criteria with an extensive
evaluation of lexical content. The checklist is both theory‐based and user‐friendly,
aiming to fill a gap between theory and practice in the field of digital lexical
learning. The article discusses the theoretical basis of the checklist and integrates
the results of a small pilot study with pre‐service and in‐service teachers, emphasizing
feasibility in everyday learning and teaching. By providing an easy‐to‐use tool
for identifying suitable digital resources, the DigiLex checklist aims to support
language learners and teachers in self‐regulated lexical learning.

In diesem Beitrag

  text:
Titanium alloys are widely employed for biomedical implants due to
their high strength, biocompatibility, and corrosion resistance, yet their lack
of intrinsic antibacterial activity remains a major limitation. Incorporating
copper, an antibacterial and β-stabilising element, offers a promising strategy
to enhance implant performance. This study investigates Ti-6Al-7Nb modified with
1–9 wt.% Cu via in situ alloying during metal-based laser powder bed fusion (PBF-LB/M),
with the aim of assessing processability, microstructural evolution, and mechanical
properties. Highly dense samples (&gt;99.9%) were produced across all Cu levels,
though chemical homogeneity strongly depended on processing parameters. Increasing
Cu content promoted β-phase stabilisation, Ti2Cu precipitation, and pronounced
grain refinement. Hardness and yield strength increased nearly linearly with Cu
addition, while ductility decreased sharply at ≥5 wt.% Cu due to intermetallic
formation, hot cracking, and brittle fracture. These results illustrate both the
opportunities and constraints of rapid alloy screening via PBF-LB/M. Overall,
moderate Cu additions of 1–3 wt.% provide the most favourable balance between
mechanical performance, manufacturability, and potential antibacterial functionality.
These findings provide a clear guideline for the design of Cu-functionalised titanium
implants and demonstrate the efficiency of in situ alloy screening for accelerated
    materials development.

text: In the context of decarbonization initiatives, the repairability and recyclability
of components have become a major concern in various industrial sectors, particularly
for resource-intensive components. The development of innovative bonding and debonding
processes that must adhere to the stringent mechanical specifications of the manufacturers
and facilitate their efficient disassembly is a major issue faced in the implementation
of a sustainable circular economy. Although adhesively bonded joints satisfy the
stringent requirements for mechanical performance, they present several challenges
during the repair and recycling process. Solvolytically debondable epoxy resin
adhesives may be employed to overcome this issue. In this study, we aim to conduct
an exploratory feasibility study on the application of such chemical debonding
mechanisms within an adhesive bond as well as to systematically analyse and evaluate
the suitability of such adhesive systems for various applications. To this end,
we employed various thermo-analytical methods and quasi-static tensile tests to
characterise the mechanical adhesive and joint properties of two solvolytically
debondable adhesive systems. Furthermore, we analysed the debondability of the
adhesive joints and evaluated their feasibility in an industrial environment.
The results indicate considerable application potential for solvolytically debondable
adhesives, along with further development steps currently required.

text: 'This paper examines the governance and quality control of digital curriculum
resources (DCR) for K-12 mathematics education in Germany. It focuses on approval
processes and criteria set by the 16 federal states, arguing that these have the
potential to influence the development of DCR. Using qualitative content analysis,
the study explores three research questions: which DCR require official approval,
the criteria applied for approval, and the extent to which these criteria are
mathematics-specific. Findings indicate that 10 federal states maintain official
approval systems, covering digital equivalents of printed textbooks and selected
supplemental materials. However, most DCR fall outside these regulated processes,
leaving their evaluation largely to individual schools and teachers. The study
identifies 17 categories of quality criteria, but reveals a lack of detailed,
mathematics-specific requirements. Instead, many criteria are broad references
to didactical principles and educational goals, leaving the interpretation and
application of these quality standards open-ended. Subject-specific criteria are
included but remain limited in specificity. The study underscores the need for
research-informed, mathematics-specific quality standards to guide DCR development
and approval, emphasizing their importance amidst challenges like artificial intelligence.
Policymakers are urged to adopt clearer criteria to ensure high-quality DCR to
    be used in schools.'

text: Lithium niobate (LiNbO3) is a widely used material with several desirable
physical properties, such as high second-order nonlinear optical and strong electro-optical
effects. Thus LiNbO3 is used for various applications such as electro-optic modulation
or nonlinear frequency conversion and mixing. But LiNbO3 also exhibits a strong
photorefractive effect, which limits the intensity of the optical fields involved.
Various approaches to reduce the photorefractive effect have been investigated,
such as increasing the temperature, doping the crystal or using different waveguide
designs in LiNbO3. Here, we present an analysis of the approach to increase the
photorefractive damage threshold by using different waveguide designs. Contrary
to previous claims and investigations, our SHG measurements revealed no significant
difference in resistance to photorefractive damage when comparing conventional
Ti-doped channel waveguides and Ti-doped diced ridge waveguides in LiNbO3. Furthermore,
we have investigated the effect of photorefractive cleaning and curing using a
light field at 532 nm. Here, we observe a reduction in the photorefractive effect
at room temperature during and after SHG measurements, which is an easy alternative
    to conventional approaches.

  text:
Abstract
The quartz crystal microbalance with
dissipation monitoring (QCM‐D) is routinely used to investigate structured samples.
Here, a simulation technique is described, that predicts the shifts of frequency
and half bandwidth, Δfn and ΔΓn,
of a quartz resonator operating on different overtone orders, n,
induced by structured samples in contact with the resonator surface in liquid.
The technique, abbreviated as FreqD‐LBM, solves the Stokes equation in the frequency
domain. The solution provides the complex amplitude of the area‐averaged tangential
stress at the resonator surface, from which Δfn
and ΔΓn are derived. Because the
dynamical variables are complex amplitudes, the viscosity can be complex, as well.
The technique naturally covers viscoelasticity. Limitations are linked to the
grid resolution and to problems at large viscosity. Validation steps include viscoelastic
films, rough surfaces, an oscillating cylinder in a viscous medium, and a free‐floating
sphere above the resonator. Application examples are soft adsorbed particles,
stiff adsorbed particles, and a large, immobile spherical cap above the resonator,
which allows to study the high‐frequency properties of the material in the gap.
FreqDLBM runs on an office PC and does not require expert knowledge of numerical
techniques. It is accessible to an experimentalist.
