text: Microphone arrays represent the basis for many challenging acoustic sensing
tasks. The accuracy of techniques like beamforming directly depends on a precise
knowledge of the relative positions of the sensors used. Unfortunately, for certain
use cases manually measuring the geometry of an array is not feasible due to practical
constraints. In this paper we present an approach to unsupervised shape calibration
of microphone array networks. We developed a hierarchical procedure that first
performs local shape calibration based on coherence analysis and then employs
SRP-PHAT in a network calibration method. Practical experiments demonstrate the
effectiveness of our approach especially for highly reverberant acoustic environments.

text: In this paper we present a system for identifying and localizingspeakers using
distant microphone arrays and a steerablepan-tilt-zoom camera. Audio and video
streams are processedin real-time to obtain the diarization information {grqq}who
speakswhen and where'' with low latency to be used in advanced videoconferencing
systems or user-adaptive interfaces. A key featureof the proposed system is to
first glean information about thespeaker{\rq}s location and identity from the
audio and visual datastreams separately and then to fuse these data in a probabilisticframework
employing the Viterbi algorithm. Here, visual evidenceof a person is utilized
through a priori state probabilities,while location and speaker change information
are employedvia time-variant transition probablities. Experiments show thatvideo
information yields a substantial improvement comparedto pure audio-based diarization.

text: Sleepwalking female protagonists were very popular in European music theater
around 1820–30. The musical effects of the transfer of this motif between cultures
and genres is examined beginning with the French vaudeville ”La somnambule“ (Eugène
Scribe, 1819), and continuing through the singspiel “Die Nachtwandlerin” (Karl
Blum, 1822), the Viennese dance-divertissement of the same name (Filippo Taglioni
and Adalbert Gyrowetz, 1826), the ballet-pantomime “La somnambule” (Scribe, Jean
Aumer, and Louis-Ferdinand Hérold, 1827) to the melodrama “La sonnambula” (Felice
Romani and Vincenzo Bellini, 1831). It is systematically shown how the observation
of such transfer-processes can be used as a heuristic tool in the study of contexts
and connections in music dramaturgy. [RILM Abstracts of Music Literature] Schlafwandelnde
weibliche Hauptfiguren hatten im europäischen Musiktheater um 1820/30 Konjunktur.
Bellinis Oper La Sonnambula (1831) ist, was den Auftritt der Schlafwandlerin als
bühnenwirksame Attraktion betrifft, kein isolierter Fall; vielmehr betrifft das
Phänomen so unterschiedliche musikgestützte Gattungen wie das französische Vaudeville,
das deutsche Singspiel, das Wiener Tanzdivertissement, die französische Ballet-pantomime
und die italienische Oper. Aufgrund dieses ,Wanderns' durch Gatrungen und Kulturräume
eignet sich das pantomimische Bühnenmotiv ,Schlafwandeln' In besonderer Welse
als Grundlage eines gattungsübergreifenden Vergleichs der Musikdramaturgien in
den jeweiligen Gattungskontexten bzw. Kulturräumen. Muslkdramaturgle meint dabei
dle Rolle von Musik als begleitende und erklärende mediale Schicht für die Vermlttlung
des dramatischen Ereignisses an den Zuschauer, d. h. zentral Ist auch die Frage,
auf welche Weise Musik Außermusikalisches zu bedeuten vermag. Und Gattungen sollen
verstanden werden als tradierte Bündel muslkdramaturglscher Verständigungskonventionen,
als kulturraumspezlflsche Rahmensysteme der Kommunikation im Dreieck Autor/ Bühne/Publikum.
Der Vergleich der Musikdramaturgien der Schlafwandlerinnen-Auftritten soll einen
Beitrag dazu leIsten, musikdramarurgische Funktionsgrundlagen, gegenseitige Abängigkeiten
und Austauschprozesse der jeweiligen musiktheatralen VerständIgungszusammenhänge
zu erhellen.
