@inproceedings{33490, abstract = {{Algorithmic fairness in Information Systems (IS) is a concept that aims to mitigate systematic discrimination and bias in automated decision-making. However, previous research argued that different fairness criteria are often incompatible. In hiring, AI is used to assess and rank applicants according to their fit for vacant positions. However, various types of bias also exist for AI-based algorithms (e.g., using biased historical data). To reduce AI’s bias and thereby unfair treatment, we conducted a systematic literature review to identify suitable strategies for the context of hiring. We identified nine fundamental articles in this context and extracted four types of approaches to address unfairness in AI, namely pre-process, in-process, post-process, and feature selection. Based on our findings, we (a) derived a research agenda for future studies and (b) proposed strategies for practitioners who design and develop AIs for hiring purposes.}}, author = {{Rieskamp, Jonas and Hofeditz, Lennart and Mirbabaie, Milad and Stieglitz, Stefan}}, booktitle = {{Proceedings of the Annual Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences (HICSS)}}, keywords = {{fairness in AI, SLR, hiring, AI implementation, AI-based algorithms}}, title = {{{Approaches to Improve Fairness when Deploying AI-based Algorithms in Hiring – Using a Systematic Literature Review to Guide Future Research}}}, year = {{2023}}, } @book{41873, author = {{Seng, Eva- Maria}}, title = {{{Deutscher Werkbund, Bauhaus, Hochschule für Gestaltung Ulm}}}, year = {{2023}}, } @article{41874, author = {{Pfeiffer, Jella and Gutschow, Julia and Haas, Christian and Möslein, Florian and Maspfuhl, Oliver and Borgers, Frederik and Alpsancar, Suzana}}, issn = {{2363-7005}}, journal = {{Business & Information Systems Engineering}}, keywords = {{Information Systems}}, publisher = {{Springer Science and Business Media LLC}}, title = {{{Algorithmic Fairness in AI}}}, doi = {{10.1007/s12599-023-00787-x}}, year = {{2023}}, } @article{41929, abstract = {{AbstractThe advent of social media and its commodification have created a never-ending feedback loop between businesses and their customers. In this context, constant negative Word-of-Mouth (NWOM) may jeopardize a corporate image and cause defensiveness in corporate communication. This paper presents a case study of several customer service accounts of the railway company Deutsche Bahn on Twitter to investigate the management and control of constant NWOM and the impact of accountability strategies on customers’ perception of the firm. To this end, a sample of 36,757 Twitter postings was drawn and analyzed by means of sentiment and content analysis techniques. The findings suggest that the perceived accountability towards the firm declined in case of an attitude shift towards the user. In contrast, the firm was being held accountable more insistently after expressed defensiveness, regardless of the firm’s actual accountableness. With this paper, we introduce the notion of accountability management and an accompanying theoretical framework to the literature. This provides a novel perspective on constant NWOM countermeasures for organizations that are part of ‘toxic’ industries or face unrightfully claimed accusations, i.e., when being held accountable for outer circumstances beyond their control.}}, author = {{Mirbabaie, Milad and Stieglitz, Stefan and Marx, Julian}}, issn = {{2366-6153}}, journal = {{Schmalenbach Journal of Business Research}}, keywords = {{Management of Technology and Innovation, General Economics, Econometrics and Finance, General Business, Management and Accounting}}, publisher = {{Springer Science and Business Media LLC}}, title = {{{Negative Word of Mouth On Social Media: A Case Study of Deutsche Bahn’s Accountability Management}}}, doi = {{10.1007/s41471-022-00152-w}}, year = {{2023}}, } @misc{41948, author = {{Süßmann, Johannes}}, booktitle = {{wissen/leben. }}, author = {{Dunst, Paul}}, isbn = {{ 978-3-8440-8899-1}}, keywords = {{Ultraschall, Pulvertransport, Modellierung, Optimierung, Reibung, Adhäsion, Kohäsion, Reibungsmanipulation}}, pages = {{150}}, publisher = {{Shaker}}, title = {{{Modellierung und Optimierung reibungsbasierter Ultraschall-Pulvertransportprozesse}}}, volume = {{14}}, year = {{2023}}, } @article{41035, author = {{Sharapova, Polina R. and Kruk, Sergey S. and Solntsev, Alexander S.}}, issn = {{1863-8880}}, journal = {{Laser & Photonics Reviews}}, keywords = {{Condensed Matter Physics, Atomic and Molecular Physics, and Optics, Electronic, Optical and Magnetic Materials}}, publisher = {{Wiley}}, title = {{{Nonlinear Dielectric Nanoresonators and Metasurfaces: Toward Efficient Generation of Entangled Photons}}}, doi = {{10.1002/lpor.202200408}}, year = {{2023}}, } @book{40667, author = {{Topalović, Elvira and Settinieri, Julia}}, publisher = {{Narr Francke Attempto}}, title = {{{Sprachliche Bildung}}}, volume = {{8}}, year = {{2023}}, } @unpublished{42049, abstract = {{Long-range quantum communication requires the development of in-out light-matter interfaces to achieve a quantum advantage in entanglement distribution.
