Based on our experience in conducting studies with children in general and pedagogical considerations on the role of the institution of kindergarten in specific, in this paper,we enfold some relevant aspects that have barely been addressed in an explicit way in current cHRI research. Four areas are analyzed and key ethical issues are identified in each area: (1) the institutional setting of a kindergarten, (2) children as a vulnerable group, (3) the caregivers’ role, and (4) pedagogical concepts. With our considerations, we aim at (i) broadening the methodology of the current studies within the area of cHRI, (ii) revalidate it based on our comprehensive empirical experience with research in kindergarten settings, both laboratory and real-world contexts, and (iii) provide a framework for the development of a more systematic approach to address the ethical issues in cHRI research within kindergarten settings.}}, author = {{Tolksdorf, Nils F. and Siebert, Scarlet and Zorn, Isabel and Horwath, Ilona and Rohlfing, Katharina J.}}, issn = {{1875-4791}}, journal = {{International Journal of Social Robotics}}, keywords = {{Robot ethics · Kindergarten settings · Child–robot interaction · Early childhood education}}, pages = {{129--140}}, title = {{{Ethical Considerations of Applying Robots in Kindergarten Settings: Towards an Approach from a Macroperspective}}}, doi = {{10.1007/s12369-020-00622-3}}, year = {{2020}}, } @article{20241, author = {{Tolksdorf, Nils Frederik and Siebert, Scarlet and Zorn, Isabel and Horwarth, Ilona and Rohlfing, Katharina}}, journal = {{International Journal of Social Robotics}}, title = {{{Ethical considerations of applying robots in kindergarten settings: Towards an approach from a macroperspective.}}}, doi = {{10.1007/s12369-020-00622-3}}, year = {{2020}}, } @misc{42929, author = {{Matzner, Tobias and Heesen, Jessica and Grundwald, Armin and Roßnagel, Alexander}}, booktitle = {{der Plattform Lernende Systeme}}, title = {{{Ethik-Briefing. Usually, modular multilevel converters are used in high-voltage DC-applications (HVDC) in the multiple kV-range, but to meet the needs of a high-current demand at low output voltage levels, the modular converter concept requires adaptations. In the proposed concept, the MMC is used to step-down the three-phase medium-voltage of 10kV, and provide up to 1 MW to the load. Therefore, each module is extended by an LLC resonant converter to adapt to the specific electrolyzers DC-voltage range of 142 - 220V and to provide galvanic isolation. The six-arm MMC converter with half-bridge modules can be simplified and optimized by removing three arms, and thus halving the number of modules. In addition, the module voltage ripple and capacitor losses are decreased by 22% and 30% respectively. By rearranging the components of the half-bridge MMC to build a MMC consisting of grid-side full-bridge modules, the voltage ripple is further reduced by 78% and capacitor losses by 64%, while ensuring identical costs and volume for all MMCs. Finally, the LLC resonant converter is designed for the most efficient full-bridge MMC. The LLC can not operate at resonance with a fixed nominal module voltage of 770V because the output voltage is varying between 142 - 220V. By decreasing the module voltage down to 600V, additional points of operation can be operated in resonance, and the remaining are closer to resonance. The option to decrease the module voltage down to 600V, increases the number of required modules per arm from 12 to 15, which requires to balance the losses of the LLCs and the grid-side stages.}}, author = {{Unruh, Roland and Schafmeister, Frank and Böcker, Joachim}}, booktitle = {{2020 22nd European Conference on Power Electronics and Applications (EPE'20 ECCE Europe)}}, keywords = {{Multilevel converters, Resonant converter, High voltage power converters, ZVS Converters, Combination MMC LLC}}, location = {{Lyon, France}}, publisher = {{IEEE}}, title = {{{Evaluation of MMCs for High-Power Low-Voltage DC-Applications in Combination with the Module LLC-Design}}}, doi = {{10.23919/epe20ecceeurope43536.2020.9215687}}, year = {{2020}}, } @inproceedings{17810, abstract = {{In all fields, the significance of a reliable and accurate predictive model is almost unquantifiable. With deep domain knowledge, models derived from first principles typically outperforms other models in terms of reliability and accuracy. However, the accuracy of such techniques is not only dependent on the hyper-parameters of the chosen algorithm, but also on the amount and quality of data. This paper investigates the application of classical time series forecasting approaches for the reliable prognostics of technical systems, where black box machine learning techniques might not successfully be employed given insufficient amount of data and where first principles models are infeasible due to lack of domain specific data. Ultimately, the goal is to maximize the successfully served flows and Quality of Service (QoS) through online service coordination. Current approaches for service coordination are usually centralized, assuming up-to-date global knowledge and making global decisions for all nodes in the network. Such global knowledge and centralized decisions are not realistic in practical large-scale networks. To solve this problem, we propose two algorithms for fully distributed service coordination. The proposed algorithms can be executed individually at each node in parallel and require only very limited global knowledge. We consider two variants, classic one-shot optimization (where our aim is to find at least one solution of high quality) and one-shot regression (where the goal is to fit a model that resembles the true problem as well as possible). For both tasks it seems intuitive that well-distributed samples should perform better than uniform or grid-based samples, since they show a better coverage of the decision space. In practice, quasi-random designs such as Latin Hypercube Samples and low-discrepancy point sets are indeed very commonly used designs for one-shot optimization tasks. We study in this work how well low star discrepancy correlates with performance in one-shot optimization. Our results confirm an advantage of low-discrepancy designs, but also indicate the correlation between discrepancy values and overall performance is rather weak. We then demonstrate that commonly used designs may be far from optimal. More precisely, we evolve 24 very specific designs that each achieve good performance on one of our benchmark problems. Interestingly, we find that these specifically designed samples yield surprisingly good performance across the whole benchmark set. Our results therefore give strong indication that significant performance gains over state-of-the-art one-shot sampling techniques are possible, and that evolutionary algorithms can be an efficient means to evolve these.}}, author = {{Bossek, Jakob and Doerr, Carola and Kerschke, Pascal and Neumann, Aneta and Neumann, Frank}}, booktitle = {{Parallel Problem Solving from Nature (PPSN XVI)}}, isbn = {{978-3-030-58111-4}}, keywords = {{Continuous optimization, Fully parallel search, One-shot optimization, Regression, Surrogate-assisted optimization}}, pages = {{111–124}}, publisher = {{Springer-Verlag}}, title = {{{Evolving Sampling Strategies for One-Shot Optimization Tasks}}}, doi = {{10.1007/978-3-030-58112-1_8}}, year = {{2020}}, } @inproceedings{35558, author = {{Schulze Darup, Moritz }}, booktitle = {{2020 European Control Conference (ECC)}}, publisher = {{IEEE}}, title = {{{Exact representation of piecewise affine functions via neural networks}}}, doi = {{10.23919/ecc51009.2020.9143957}}, year = {{2020}}, } @article{20848, author = {{Tischendorf, R. and Simmler, M. and Weinberger, C. and Bieber, M. and Reddemann, M. and Fröde, F. and Lindner, J. and Pitsch, H. and Kneer, R. and Tiemann, M. and Nirschl, H. and Schmid, H.-J.}}, issn = {{0021-8502}}, journal = {{Journal of Aerosol Science}}, title = {{{Examination of the evolution of iron oxide nanoparticles in flame spray pyrolysis by tailored in situ particle sampling techniques}}}, doi = {{10.1016/j.jaerosci.2020.105722}}, year = {{2020}}, } @article{17995, author = {{Riha, Christian and Buchholz, Sven S. and Chiatti, Olivio and Wieck, Andreas D. and Reuter, Dirk and Fischer, Saskia F.}}, issn = {{0003-6951}}, journal = {{Applied Physics Letters}}, title = {{{Excess noise in Al x Ga 1 − xAs/GaAs based quantum rings}}}, doi = {{10.1063/5.0002247}}, year = {{2020}}, } @inbook{19099, author = {{Eke, Norbert Otto}}, booktitle = {{Vormärz-Handbuch}}, editor = {{Eke, Norbert Otto}}, pages = {{289--297}}, publisher = {{Aisthesis}}, title = {{{Exil}}}, year = {{2020}}, }
