However, previous research argued that different fairness criteria are often incompatible. In hiring, AI is used to assess and rank applicants according to their fit for vacant positions. However, various types of bias also exist for AI-based algorithms (e.g., using biased historical data). To reduce AI’s bias and thereby unfair treatment, we conducted a systematic literature review to identify suitable strategies for the context of hiring. We identified nine fundamental articles in this context and extracted four types of approaches to address unfairness in AI, namely pre-process, in-process, post-process, and feature selection. In this context, constant negative Word-of-Mouth (NWOM) may jeopardize a corporate image and cause defensiveness in corporate communication. This paper presents a case study of several customer service accounts of the railway company Deutsche Bahn on Twitter to investigate the management and control of constant NWOM and the impact of accountability strategies on customers’ perception of the firm. To this end, a sample of 36,757 Twitter postings was drawn and analyzed by means of sentiment and content analysis techniques. The findings suggest that the perceived accountability towards the firm declined in case of an attitude shift towards the user. In contrast, the firm was being held accountable more insistently after expressed defensiveness, regardless of the firm’s actual accountableness. With this paper, we introduce the notion of accountability management and an accompanying theoretical framework to the literature. Um Prozessschritte und damit wertvolle Zeit zu sparen, sollen die Kupferdickdrähte für die Leistungshalbleiter auch für die Kontaktierung von eingespritzten Anschlusssteckern im Modulrahmen verwendet werden. Das Kontaktierungsverfahren mit diesen Drähten auf Steckern in dünnwandigen Kunststoffrahmen führt häufig zu unzureichender Bondqualität. In dieser Arbeit wird das Bonden von Anschlusssteckern experimentell und anhand von Simulationen untersucht, um die Prozessstabilität zu steigern.\r\n\r\nZunächst wurden Experimente auf Untergründen mit hoher Steifigkeit durchgeführt, um Störgrößen von Untergrundeigenschaften zu verringern. Die gewonnenen Erkenntnisse erlaubten die Entwicklung eines Simulationsmodells für die Vorhersage der Bondqualität. Dieses basiert auf einer flächenaufgelösten Reibarbeitsbestimmung im Fügebereich unter Berücksichtigung des Ultraschallerweichungseffektes und der hierdurch entstehenden hohen Drahtverformung.\r\n\r\nExperimente an den Anschlusssteckern im Modulrahmen zeigten eine verringerte Relativverschiebung zwischen Draht und Stecker, was zu einer deutlichen Verringerung der Reibarbeit führt. Außerdem wurden verminderte Schwingamplituden des Bondwerkzeugs nachgewiesen. Dies führt zu einer weiteren Reduktion der Reibarbeit. Beide Effekte wurden mithilfe eines Mehrmassenschwingers modelliert. Durch die Anwendung von Ultraschallschwingungen können insbesondere die hohen adhäsiven Kontaktkräfte und damit auch die Reibungseigenschaften manipuliert werden.\r\n\r\nEin neu entwickeltes Pulvertransportsystem nutzt Ultraschallschwingungen, um die effektiven Tangentialkräfte im Pulver-Rohrkontakt zu reduzieren. Durch den koordinierten Einsatz von Ultraschallpulsen während einer niederfrequenten harmonischen Axialschwingung des Transportrohres wird ein kontinuierlicher Pulvertransport ermöglicht. Nach einer Einführung in die Grundlagen der Reibung und Reibungsmanipulation von Festkörpern und Pulvern sowie der Charakterisierung von Pulvern wird das Pulvertransportsystem auf Basis der Reibungsmanipulation inklusive der Leistungselektronik und der Ansteuerungshardware vorgestellt. Eine Sensitivitätsanalyse zeigt, dass die Anregungsparameter des Pulvertransportsystems ein großes Optimierungspotential aufweisen. Es wird ein effizientes, modulares Modell des Pulvertransportsystems vorgestellt, welches neben dem eigentlichen Modell des Transportprozesses ein Modell der Rohrschwingung und ein kennlinienbasiertes Modell des Pulver-Rohrkontakts beinhaltet. Here, we\r\ndemonstrate the coherent quanta exchange between single photons generated\r\non-demand from a GaAs quantum dot and atomic ensemble in a $^{87}$Rb vapor\r\nquantum memory. To breach the gap between the immense promises we see in RL and the applicability in complex engineering systems, the main challenges are the massive requirements in terms of the training data, as well as the lack of performance guarantees. We present a solution for the first issue using a data-driven surrogate model in the form of a convolutional LSTM with actuation. We demonstrate that learning an actuated model in parallel to training the RL agent significantly reduces the total amount of required data sampled from the real system. Furthermore, we show that iteratively updating the model is of major importance to avoid biases in the RL training. Detailed ablation studies reveal the most important ingredients of the modeling process. Gestützt auf Datenerhebungen und strukturierte Interviews formuliert die AG Nachwuchs in diesem Bericht zwei Empfehlungen, jeweils eine für den Doc- und den PostDoc-Bereich.\r\n\r\nSie empfiehlt im PostDoc-Bereich, dass die Fakultäten bzw. verwandte VWL-Einrichtungen den Übergang zu Tenure-Track beschleunigen und ihn durch eine systematische Planung der Zahlenverhältnisse zwischen den Karrierestufen bei ihrem wissenschaftlichen Personal begleiten. Dadurch sollen bessere Karriereperspektiven erreicht werden. Sowohl die befragten Nachwuchskräfte als auch die befragten Professor:innen und Programmleitungen betonen die Thematik der Stellenperspektiven stark.\r\n\r\nIm Doc-Bereich dokumentieren die Erhebungsdaten eine überraschend geringe Zufriedenheit der VWL-Promovierenden mit der Betreuungssituation durch die Professorenschaft. Die AG Nachwuchs empfiehlt daher eine höhere Betreuungsdichte und eine stärkere Vernetzung von Promovierenden. Additive manufacturing processes, in particular powder-based selective laser melting, are used to produce metallic additive manufactured components for the automotive and aerospace industries. Different materials are often joined together to realize sustainable lightweight construction. The production of such mixed construction joints is often realized using mechanical joining technology (e.g. self-piercing riveting). However, there is currently very little experience with the mechanical joining of metallic additive manufacturing components. Furthermore, there is insufficient knowledge about the effects that occur during the mechanical joining of additive manufacturing components. In this article, a method is presented to investigate the joinability of additively manufactured components with conventionally manufactured components using a numerical simulation of the self-piercing riveting process. For this purpose, the additive manufacturing materials are characterized experimentally, the simulation model is configured, and the joining process with additive manufacturing materials is represented in the numerical simulation. Furthermore, the influence of the building direction on the mechanical properties is shown using miniature tensile specimens. Besides the configuration of the simulation model, the influence of heat treatment on the self-piercing riveting process is presented. We initiate the study of a quantum analogue of NPSPACE, denoted\r\nStreaming-QCMASPACE (SQCMASPACE), where an exponentially long classical proof\r\nis streamed to a poly-space quantum verifier. Besides two main results, we also\r\nshow that a quantum analogue of Savitch's theorem is unlikely to hold, as\r\nSQCMASPACE=NEXP. For completeness, we introduce Streaming-QMASPACE (SQMASPACE)\r\nwith an exponentially long streamed quantum proof, and show SQMASPACE=QMA_EXP\r\n(quantum analogue of NEXP). Our first main result shows, in contrast to the\r\nclassical setting, the solution space of a quantum constraint satisfaction\r\nproblem (i.e. a local Hamiltonian) is always connected when exponentially long\r\nproofs are permitted. For this, we show how to simulate any Lipschitz\r\ncontinuous path on the unit hypersphere via a sequence of local unitary gates,\r\nat the expense of blowing up the circuit size. This shows quantum\r\nerror-correcting codes can be unable to detect one codeword erroneously\r\nevolving to another if the evolution happens sufficiently slowly, and answers\r\nan open question of [Gharibian, Sikora, ICALP 2015] regarding the Ground State\r\nConnectivity problem. Our second main result is that any SQCMASPACE computation\r\ncan be embedded into \"unentanglement\", i.e. into a quantum constraint\r\nsatisfaction problem with unentangled provers. Formally, we show how to embed\r\nSQCMASPACE into the Sparse Separable Hamiltonian problem of [Chailloux,\r\nSattath, CCC 2012] (QMA(2)-complete for 1/poly promise gap), at the expense of\r\nscaling the promise gap with the streamed proof size. Patents receive 26 percent fewer citations from within a radius of 20 miles around the deceased, relative to still-living coinventors. For this reason, a considerable amount of engineering effort has been taken in order to improve the quality of particle sources and system components. At the same time, data analysis and collection methods based on post-selection have been used to mitigate the effect of particle losses. This has allowed for investigating experimentally multi-particle evolutions where the observer lacks knowledge about the system's intermediate propagation states. Nonetheless, the fundamental question how losses affect the behaviour of the surviving subset of a multi-particle system has not been investigated so far. For this reason, here we study the impact of particle losses in a quantum walk of two photons reconstructing the output probability distributions for one photon conditioned on the loss of the other in a known mode and temporal step of our evolution network. We present the underlying theoretical scheme that we have devised in order to model controlled particle losses, we describe an experimental platform capable of implementing our theory in a time multiplexing encoding. In the end we show how localized particle losses change the output distributions without altering their asymptotic spreading properties. The model proposed approximates the behavior of the nonlinear scattering (S)-parameters and noise figure of each building block of the TRX chipset by Laplace polynomials and hyperbolic tangent functions. Popular applications are image denoising, sparse\r\nregression and machine learning. Since the choice of the regularization\r\nparameter is crucial but often difficult, path-following methods are used to\r\napproximate the entire regularization path, i.e., the set of all possible\r\nsolutions for all regularization parameters. Due to their nature, the\r\ndevelopment of these methods requires structural results about the\r\nregularization path. The goal of this article is to derive these results for\r\nthe case of a smooth objective function which is penalized by a piecewise\r\ndifferentiable regularization term. We do this by treating regularization as a\r\nmultiobjective optimization problem. Our results suggest that even in this\r\ngeneral case, the regularization path is piecewise smooth. Moreover, our theory\r\nallows for a classification of the nonsmooth features that occur in between\r\nsmooth parts.
