Conversion efficiencies as a function of load have been measured indoors with high \r\naccuracy and ranked according to Euro- and CEC weightings. Energy yields have been measured outdoors via \r\nidentical and calibrated crystalline silicon PV modules of 215 Wp each. Inverters with two inputs have been fed by \r\ntwo of those modules. DC input, AC power output and energy yield of each micro-inverter have been recorded by \r\nindividual calibrated electricity meters. Apparently, some inverters have been optimized for high irradiance levels \r\nand ranked better at the CEC efficiency ranking, others performed very well also at low irradiance levels, thus \r\nranking higher at in the EU efficiency ranking. Efficiency ranks are slightly deviating from rankings by energy yield \r\nmeasurements. At one inverter, a slow MPPT algorithm that barely could follow quickly changing irradiance levels is \r\nmost probably responsible for this effect. Another inverter switched off for a while after operation at high power, \r\nanother one failed permanently. Apparently, some inverters are been optimized to show excellent datasheet ratings \r\nfor EU- or CEC- efficiency. On the other hand, two inverters (each featuring two inputs) did not show an outstanding \r\nperformance at the EU- and CEC-ratings but achieved leading ranks for AC energy yields. For the customer, AC \r\nyield is a major performance indicator of a microinverter and should be included in the datasheet." author: - first_name: Stefan full_name: Krauter, Stefan id: '28836' last_name: Krauter orcid: 0000-0002-3594-260X - first_name: Jörg full_name: Bendfeld, Jörg id: '16148' last_name: Bendfeld citation: ama: 'Krauter S, Bendfeld J. Due to the present \r\ninflexibility and the lack of sufficient throttling capabilities of lignite and nuclear power plants, a surplus of \r\nelectricity generation occurs during periods of high wind and solar power generation. While the specific CO2-\r\nemission is decreasing then ‒ due to the increased share of Renewables, the grid frequency is increasing (to a certain \r\nlimit). Using the grid frequency as an indicator to switch-on and off certain loads (loads that do not require power \r\npermanently (e.g. dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, fridges and freezers, heaters) could provide a simple, \r\ninexpensive demand-side management indicator to lower specific CO2‒emssions and costs (if a dynamic \r\nconsumption tariff is available). To check the truthfulness of that hypothesis, the grid and frequency data of the \r\nGerman grid of the year 2018 have been collected and a the correlation between grid frequency, power surplus, share \r\nof renewables vs. CO2-contents and price at the European energy exchange (EEX) have been calculated. The results \r\nshow: Correlation between frequency and share of renewables is quite low (r = 0.155) due to the fact that primary \r\ngrid control quickly compensates deviations from the 50 Hz nominal frequency. There is a good anti-correlation (r = -\r\n0.687) between the EEX‒prices and the share of renewables in the grid. Over the years, correlation between \r\nelectricity trading prices (EEX) and CO2 emissions is quite good (r =0.665), within the one year (2018) that \r\ncorrelation almost doesn’t exist, possibly due to the inflexibility of the bulky lignite power plants that even operate at \r\nnegative prices. \r\n" author: - first_name: Stefan full_name: Krauter, Stefan id: '28836' last_name: Krauter orcid: 0000-0002-3594-260X - first_name: L. full_name: Zhang, L. last_name: Zhang citation: ama: 'Krauter S, Zhang L. A \r\nsteeper elevation angle would result in a more balanced seasonal PV yield, at the cost of PV yield reductions during \r\nsummer, but allowing reduced storage capacities. Additionally, the effect of a single-axis tracking system has been \r\ninvestigated, generating more electricity during the morning and evening hours, thus reducing daily storage \r\nrequirements. The necessary PV size and storage capacities required for the German energy supply (1,500 TWh after \r\nelectrification of all sectors) via 100% renewable energies and a 50% solar share have been calculated via the \r\nHOMER Pro software, considering the bridging of periods of \"dark lulls“ in winter, using costs of 2030 (Table 1). \r\nResults: The increase of module elevation angles above the typical 30° leads to a reduction of investment and supply \r\ncosts. The optimum is reached at a cost reduction of -1.5% for an elevation angle at the latitude of the installation \r\nsite. An explanation is that high elevation angles are favorable for clear winter days, but not at all for the critical days \r\nwith diffuse irradiance only, so the battery capacity must be increased. For the same reason, tracking systems do not \r\noffer any cost advantage (at least for the ones without an option for horizontal positioning during diffuse days)." author: - first_name: Stefan full_name: Krauter, Stefan id: '28836' last_name: Krauter orcid: 0000-0002-3594-260X - first_name: D. full_name: Rustemovic, D. last_name: Rustemovic - first_name: Arash full_name: Khatibi, Arash id: '43538' last_name: Khatibi citation: ama: 'Krauter S, Rustemovic D, Khatibi A. While the specific CO2-emission is decreasing then - due to the increased share of Renewables, the grid frequency should be increasing (to a certain limit). Using the grid frequency as an indicator to switch-on and -off certain loads (loads that do not require power permanently (e.g. dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, fridges and freezers, heaters) could provide a simple, inexpensive demand-side-management indicator to lower specific CO2-emissions and costs (if a dynamic consumption tariff is applied). To check the truthfulness of that hypothesis, the grid and frequency data of the German grid of the year 2018 have been collected and the correlations between grid frequency, share of renewables, CO2-contents, and actual price at the European energy exchange (EEX) have been calculated. The results show: Correlation between grid frequency and the share of renewables is quite low (r=0.155) due to the fact that primary grid control quickly compensates deviations from the 50 Hz nominal frequency. As expected, there is a good anti-correlation (r=-0.687) between the EEX-prices and the share of renewables in the grid. Over the years, correlation between electricity trading prices (EEX) and CO2 emissions is quite good (r=0.665), within the one year (2018) that correlation almost doesn''t exist, possibly due to the inflexibility of the bulky lignite baseload power plants that even operate at negative prices.' author: - first_name: Stefan full_name: Krauter, Stefan id: '28836' last_name: Krauter orcid: 0000-0002-3594-260X - first_name: L. full_name: Zhang, L. last_name: Zhang citation: ama: 'Krauter S, Zhang L. The inverters have been fed by identical and calibrated crystalline silicon PV modules of 215 Wp. To monitor accurately DC input, AC power output and energy yield, each of the micro-inverters has been equipped with a calibrated electricity meter. For micro-inverters requiring control units for grid-feeding that has been acquired also. The comparison covers efficiency-load characteristics as well as electrical energy yields. Purchase costs vary considerably between the models in comparison, sometimes inverter costs are higher than module costs, particularly if an additional grid-connection or interface device is needed for operation. The weighted conversion efficiency according to EU and CEC standards has been measured and calculated. While some inverters have been optimized for high irradiance levels, they ranked better at the CEC efficiency, others performed very well also for low irradiance levels, thus ranking higher at in the EU-efficiency tables. These results are deviating from the actual energy yield measurements, which show a slightly different ranking. At one inverter, an accurate, but very slow MPPT algorithm that barely could follow quickly changing irradiance levels could be the reason for this effect. Another inverter switched off after operation at high power output for a while. Apparently, some inverters are been optimized to show excellent EU and CEC efficiency ratings. Two of the inverters featuring two inputs did not show an exceptional performance at the EU- and CEC-ratings, but they achieved top ranks at the AC energy yield for the first years. For the customer, the AC yield is a major performance indicator of any microinverter and should be included in the datasheet. author: - first_name: Stefan full_name: Krauter, Stefan id: '28836' last_name: Krauter orcid: 0000-0002-3594-260X - first_name: Jörg full_name: Bendfeld, Jörg id: '16148' last_name: Bendfeld citation: ama: 'Krauter S, Bendfeld J. (2) SET is commonly viewed as a control tool deserving methodological improvement, while bias is debated in the US. We also found local trajectories: (3) Whereas in the US and Latin America SET is primarily seen as a management tool, German-speaking and Chinese authors reflect more on improving teaching. Chinese scholars consider SET a valid instrument for state control associated with artificial intelligence. - lang: eng text: "The topics ”Big Data”, “Artificial Intelligence” and “Data Science” are controversially discussed among the general public, but they present new challenges for training in IT and IT-related professions. These challenges will become more important in the future as a result of further social and technological development towards a data society.\r\nAt this point, the question arises as to which aspects of this large complex of topics are important for school and education, and how these topics can be integrated in a meaningful and profitable way into informatics education in vocational education. In 2017, we organized a symposium towards the topic “Data Science” and discussed relevant aspects for general and vocational education. Algorithms of artificial intelligence and their application in industry and society, explorations of Big Data as well as the handling of one's own data in social networks were worked out as core elements for teaching. For this reason, our aim is to develop a comprehensive curriculum on this topic from these subject areas and to develop and test modules for various teaching scenarios in order to enable teachers from computer science, mathematics or technology to teach these topics themselves.\r\nFor this purpose, an experimental project course was developed within the framework of the ProDaBi project (Project Data Science and Big Data at School, https://www.prodabi.de), which we conducted with students from upper secondary classes at the University of Paderborn in the school year 2018/19. In this course we try to address all these aspects. This course consists of several modules: One module has been designed to teach the exploration of Big Data. Another module encompasses aspects of machine learning as part of artificial intelligence. The course concludes in a project phase which, in cooperation with local companies, will enable the students to apply what they have learned into a real Data Science project. Based on the experiences of this project course and the parallel testing of individual modules with vocational schools, we will further develop the material and make it available to other cooperation partners for testing, so that not only complete teaching materials but also a comprehensive curriculum will have been developed until the end of the project." author: - first_name: Simone Anna full_name: Opel, Simone Anna id: '72932' last_name: Opel - first_name: Michael full_name: Schlichtig, Michael id: '32312' last_name: Schlichtig citation: ama: 'Opel SA, Schlichtig M. In this paper we dissect the gains of the time-domain audio separation network (TasNet) approach by gradually replacing components of an utterance-level permutation invariant training (u-PIT) based separation system in the frequency domain until the TasNet system is reached, thus blending components of frequency domain approaches with those of time domain approaches. Some of the intermediate variants achieve comparable signal-to-distortion ratio (SDR) gains to TasNet, but retain the advantage of frequency domain processing: compatibility with classic signal processing tools such as frequency-domain beamforming and the human interpretability of the masks. Furthermore, we show that the scale invariant signal-to-distortion ratio (si-SDR) criterion used as loss function in TasNet is related to a logarithmic mean square error criterion and that it is this criterion which contributes most reliable to the performance advantage of TasNet. Finally, we critically assess which gains in a noise-free single channel environment generalize to more realistic reverberant conditions.' author: - first_name: Jens full_name: Heitkaemper, Jens id: '27643' last_name: Heitkaemper - first_name: Darius full_name: Jakobeit, Darius last_name: Jakobeit - first_name: Christoph full_name: Boeddeker, Christoph id: '40767' last_name: Boeddeker - first_name: Lukas full_name: Drude, Lukas last_name: Drude - first_name: Reinhold full_name: Haeb-Umbach, Reinhold id: '242' last_name: Haeb-Umbach citation: ama: 'Heitkaemper J, Jakobeit D, Boeddeker C, Drude L, Haeb-Umbach R. Of note, Track 2 is the first\r\nchallenge activity in the community to tackle an unsegmented multispeaker\r\nspeech recognition scenario with a complete set of reproducible open source\r\nbaselines providing speech enhancement, speaker diarization, and speech\r\nrecognition modules." author: - first_name: Shinji full_name: Watanabe, Shinji last_name: Watanabe - first_name: Michael full_name: Mandel, Michael last_name: Mandel - first_name: Jon full_name: Barker, Jon last_name: Barker - first_name: Emmanuel full_name: Vincent, Emmanuel last_name: Vincent - first_name: Ashish full_name: Arora, Ashish last_name: Arora - first_name: Xuankai full_name: Chang, Xuankai last_name: Chang - first_name: Sanjeev full_name: Khudanpur, Sanjeev last_name: Khudanpur - first_name: Vimal full_name: Manohar, Vimal last_name: Manohar - first_name: Daniel full_name: Povey, Daniel last_name: Povey - first_name: Desh full_name: Raj, Desh last_name: Raj - first_name: David full_name: Snyder, David last_name: Snyder - first_name: Aswin Shanmugam full_name: Subramanian, Aswin Shanmugam last_name: Subramanian - first_name: Jan full_name: Trmal, Jan last_name: Trmal - first_name: Bar Ben full_name: Yair, Bar Ben last_name: Yair - first_name: Christoph full_name: Boeddeker, Christoph id: '40767' last_name: Boeddeker - first_name: Zhaoheng full_name: Ni, Zhaoheng last_name: Ni - first_name: Yusuke full_name: Fujita, Yusuke last_name: Fujita - first_name: Shota full_name: Horiguchi, Shota last_name: Horiguchi - first_name: Naoyuki full_name: Kanda, Naoyuki last_name: Kanda - first_name: Takuya full_name: Yoshioka, Takuya last_name: Yoshioka - first_name: Neville full_name: Ryant, Neville last_name: Ryant citation: ama: Watanabe S, Mandel M, Barker J, et al. Er greift drei geografisch und chronologisch weit auseinanderliegende Fallbeispiele von kulturellen Vermittlern auf, die vor dem Hintergrund ihres umfassenden antiken Bildungswissens versuchten, die Fremde als „lebende Antike“ zu interpretieren: Missionare in Neuspanien im 16. und 17. This is also the case for control problems,\r\nwhere optimal solutions can degrade in quality or even become infeasible. Thus,\r\nthere is the need to design methods that can handle uncertainty. In this work,\r\nwe consider nonlinear multi-objective optimal control problems with uncertainty\r\non the initial conditions, and in particular their incorporation into a\r\nfeedback loop via model predictive control (MPC). In multi-objective optimal\r\ncontrol, an optimal compromise between multiple conflicting criteria has to be\r\nfound. For such problems, not much has been reported in terms of uncertainties.\r\nTo address this problem class, we design an offline/online framework to compute\r\nan approximation of efficient control strategies. This approach is closely\r\nrelated to explicit MPC for nonlinear systems, where the potentially expensive\r\noptimization problem is solved in an offline phase in order to enable fast\r\nsolutions in the online phase. In order to reduce the numerical cost of the\r\noffline phase, we exploit symmetries in the control problems. Furthermore, in\r\norder to ensure optimality of the solutions, we include an additional online\r\noptimization step, which is considerably cheaper than the original\r\nmulti-objective optimization problem. We test our framework on a car\r\nmaneuvering problem where safety and speed are the objectives. The\r\nmulti-objective framework allows for online adaptations of the desired\r\nobjective. Alternatively, an automatic scalarizing procedure yields very\r\nefficient feedback controls. Our results show that the method is capable of\r\ndesigning driving strategies that deal better with uncertainties in the initial\r\nconditions, which translates into potentially safer and faster driving\r\nstrategies." author: - first_name: Carlos Ignacio full_name: Hernández Castellanos, Carlos Ignacio last_name: Hernández Castellanos - first_name: Sina full_name: Ober-Blöbaum, Sina id: '16494' last_name: Ober-Blöbaum - first_name: Sebastian full_name: Peitz, Sebastian id: '47427' last_name: Peitz orcid: https://orcid.org/0000-0002-3389-793X citation: ama: Hernández Castellanos CI, Ober-Blöbaum S, Peitz S. The prices are regulated and providers compete in location and quality. We show that whereas opening a public hospital market typically raises quality, the private provider strategically locates towards the corner of the market to avoid costly quality competition. Social welfare depends on the size of the regulator's budget and on the altruism of the public provider. If the budget is large, high quality results and welfare is highest in a duopoly whenever entry is optimal. If the budget is small, quality levels in a duopoly mirror the quality level in a monopoly. It can be optimal for the regulator not to use the full budget. article_type: original author: - first_name: Burkhard full_name: Hehenkamp, Burkhard id: '37339' last_name: Hehenkamp - first_name: 'Odvar M. Self-adaptive user interfaces (SAUIs) have been promoted as a solution for context variability due to their ability to automatically adapt to the context-of-use at runtime. The development of SAUIs is a challenging and complex task as additional aspects like context management and UI adaptation have to be covered. In classical model-driven UI development approaches, these aspects are not fully integrated and hence introduce additional complexity as they represent crosscutting concerns. In this paper, we present an integrated model-driven development approach where a classical model-driven development of UIs is coupled with a model-driven development of context-of-use and UI adaptation rules. We base our approach on the core UI modeling language IFML and introduce new modeling languages for context-of-use (ContextML) and UI adaptation rules (AdaptML). The generated UI code, based on the IFML model, is coupled with the context and adaptation services, generated from the ContextML and AdaptMLmodel, respectively. The integration of the generated artifacts, namely UI code, context, and adaptation services in an overall rule-based execution environment, enables runtime UI adaptation. The benefit of our approach is demonstrated by two case studies, showing the development of SAUIs for different application scenarios and a usability study which has been conducted to analyze end-user satisfaction of SAUIs. author: - first_name: Enes full_name: Yigitbas, Enes last_name: Yigitbas - first_name: Ivan full_name: Jovanovikj, Ivan last_name: Jovanovikj - first_name: Kai full_name: Biermeier, Kai id: '55908' last_name: Biermeier - first_name: Stefan full_name: Sauer, Stefan last_name: Sauer - first_name: Gregor full_name: Engels, Gregor last_name: Engels citation: ama: Yigitbas E, Jovanovikj I, Biermeier K, Sauer S, Engels G. Obwohl solche Schulstationen seit mehr als 20 Jahren in der Ausbildung eingesetzt werden und ihnen in der Literatur im Vergleich zu den regulären Praxisphasen lernförderliche Eigenschaften zugeschrieben werden, so fehlen bisher empirische Studien, welche die unterstellten Lernpotentiale überprüfen.
