text: Rechargeable aqueous Zn-ion energy storage devices are promising candidates
for next-generation energy storage technologies. However, the lack of highly reversible
Zn2+-storage anode materials with low potential windows remains a primary concern.
Here, we report a two-dimensional polyarylimide covalent organic framework (PI-COF)
anode with high-kinetics Zn2+-storage capability. The well-organized pore channels
of PI-COF allow the high accessibility of the build-in redox-active carbonyl groups
and efficient ion diffusion with a low energy barrier. The constructed PI-COF
anode exhibits a specific capacity (332 C g–1 or 92 mAh g–1 at 0.7 A g–1), a high
rate capability (79.8% at 7 A g–1), and a long cycle life (85% over 4000 cycles).
In situ Raman investigation and first-principle calculations clarify the two-step
Zn2+-storage mechanism, in which imide carbonyl groups reversibly form negatively
charged enolates. Dendrite-free full Zn-ion devices are fabricated by coupling
PI-COF anodes with MnO2 cathodes, delivering excellent energy densities (23.9
∼ 66.5 Wh kg–1) and supercapacitor-level power densities (133 ∼ 4782 W kg–1).
This study demonstrates the feasibility of covalent organic framework as Zn2+-storage
anodes and shows a promising prospect for constructing reliable aqueous energy
storage devices.

text: Lead halide perovskite semiconductors providing record efficiencies of solar
cells have usually mixed compositions doped in A- and X-sites to enhance the phase
stability. The cubic form of formamidinium (FA) lead iodide reveals excellent
opto-electronic properties but transforms at room temperature (RT) into a hexagonal
structure which does not effectively absorb visible light. This metastable form
and the mechanism of its stabilization by Cs+ and Br− incorporation are poorly
characterized and insufficiently understood. We report here the vibrational properties
of cubic FAPbI3 investigated by DFT calculations on phonon frequencies and intensities,
and micro-Raman spectroscopy. The effects of Cs+ and Br− partial substitution
are discussed. We support our results with the study of FAPbBr3 which expands
the identification of vibrational modes to the previously unpublished low frequency
region (<500 cm−1). Our results show that the incorporation of Cs+ and Br− leads
to the coupling of the displacement of the A-site components and weakens the bonds
between FA+ and the PbX6 octahedra. We suggest that the enhancement of α-FAPbI3
stability can be a product of the release of tensile stresses in the Pb–X bond,
which is reflected in a red-shift of the low frequency region of the Raman spectrum
(<200 cm−1).

text: The record conversion efficiency of thin-film solar cells based on Cu(In,Ga)Se2
(CIGS) absorbers has exceeded 23%. Such a high performance is currently only attainable
by the incorporation of heavy alkali metals like Cs into the absorber through
an alkali fluoride post-deposition treatment (PDT). As the effect of the incorporated
heavy alkali metals is under discussion, we investigated the local composition
and microstructure of high efficiency CIGS solar cells via various high-resolution
techniques in a combinatory approach. An accumulation of Cs is clearly detected
at the p-n junction along with variations in the local CIGS composition, showing
the formation of a beneficial secondary phase with a laterally inhomogeneous distribution.
Additionally, Cs accumulations were detected at grain boundaries with a random
misorientation of the adjacent grains where a reduced Cu concentration and increased
In and Se concentrations are detected. No accumulation was found at Σ3 twin boundaries
as well as the grain interior. These experimental findings are in excellent agreement
with complementary ab-initio calculations, demonstrating that the grain boundaries
are passivated by the presence of Cs. Further, it is unlikely that Cs with its
large ionic radius is incorporated into the CIGS grains where it would cause detrimental
defects.

text: 'AbstractElectroencephalographic (EEG) research
indicates changes in adults’ low frequency bands of frontoparietal brain areas
executing different balance tasks with increasing postural demands. However, this
issue is unsolved for adolescents when performing the same balance task with increasing
difficulty. Therefore, we examined the effects of a progressively increasing balance
task difficulty on balance performance and brain activity in adolescents. Thirteen
healthy adolescents aged 16–17 year performed tests in bipedal upright stance
on a balance board with six progressively increasing levels of task difficulty.
Postural sway and cortical activity were recorded simultaneously using a pressure
sensitive measuring system and EEG. The power spectrum was analyzed for theta
(4–7 Hz) and alpha-2 (10–12 Hz) frequency bands in pre-defined frontal, central,
and parietal clusters of electrocortical sources. Repeated measures analysis of
variance (rmANOVA) showed a significant main effect of task difficulty for postural
sway (p < 0.001; d = 6.36).
Concomitantly, the power spectrum changed in frontal, bilateral central, and bilateral
parietal clusters. RmANOVAs revealed significant main effects of task difficulty
for theta band power in the frontal (p < 0.001,
d = 1.80) and both central clusters (left: p < 0.001,
d = 1.49; right: p < 0.001,
d = 1.42) as well as for alpha-2 band power in both
parietal clusters (left: p < 0.001, d = 1.39;
right: p < 0.001, d = 1.05)
and in the central right cluster (p = 0.005, d = 0.92).
Increases in theta band power (frontal, central) and decreases in alpha-2 power
(central, parietal) with increasing balance task difficulty may reflect increased
attentional processes and/or error monitoring as well as increased sensory information
processing due to increasing postural demands. In general, our findings are mostly
in agreement with studies conducted in adults. Similar to adult studies, our data
with adolescents indicated the involvement of frontoparietal brain areas in the
regulation of postural control. In addition, we detected that activity of selected
brain areas (e.g., bilateral central) changed with increasing postural demands.'

text: OpenPGP and S/MIME are two major standards for securing email communication
introduced in the early 1990s. Three recent classes of attacks exploit weak cipher
modes (EFAIL Malleability Gadgets, or EFAIL-MG), the flexibility of the MIME email
structure (EFAIL Direct Exfiltration, or EFAIL-DE), and the Reply action of the
email client (REPLY attacks). Although all three break message confidentiality
by using standardized email features, only EFAIL-MG has been mitigated in IETF
standards with the introduction of AEAD algorithms. So far, no uniform and reliable
countermeasures have been adopted by email clients to prevent EFAIL-DE and REPLY
attacks. Instead, email clients implement a variety of different ad-hoc countermeasures
which are only partially effective, cause interoperability problems, and fragment
the secure email ecosystem. We present the first generic countermeasure against
both REPLY and EFAIL-DE attacks by checking the decryption context including SMTP
headers and MIME structure during decryption. The decryption context is encoded
into a string DC and used as Associated Data (AD) in the AEAD encryption. Thus
the proposed solution seamlessly extends the EFAIL-MG countermeasures. The decryption
context changes whenever an attacker alters the email source code in a critical
way, for example, if the attacker changes the MIME structure or adds a new Reply-To
header. The proposed solution does not cause any interoperability problems and
legacy emails can still be decrypted. We evaluate our approach by implementing
the decryption contexts in Thunderbird/Enigmail and by verifying their correct
functionality after the email has been transported over all major email providers,
including Gmail and iCloud Mail.

text: The Enlightenment is well known for its critical analysis of the Bible. Though
the Renaissance sources have been acknowledged as an inspiration of this movement,
the Querelle des Femmes and its critique of the Bible has never been considered
as a possible catalyst for the enlightened philosophical discourse. For centuries
women have fought against interpretations of the Bible. This paper argues that
the Querelle des Femmes criticized the Bible not only because of its patriarchal
content but also criticized philosophical thinking that, for supporting the views
from the Bible and its misogynist stance, misusing the instruments of rational
philosophy. Arguments from 1400-1750, from Nogarola to Du Châtelet proof women
philosophers’ fight in favour of a critique of the bible from a rational point
of view, reflecting also on the status of what it meant, to argue rationally.

text: Radial shaft sealing rings (RSSR) are important machine elements used in rotating
and oil lubricated systems. Their main task is to prevent oil from exiting the
system and dirt particles from entering the system. When this function is not
fulfilled, a leakage can occur and cause excessive damage after certain operating
times, such as gear failure due to insufficient lubrication. This is the reason
for the high level of current research interest in seals. The sealing function
of RSSR occurs in the contact area between the sealing lip and the shaft. The
contact takes place over a very small contact width of approximately 1 μm.
These extremely small dimensions and the complex relationships between the functional
influencing variables on the radial shaft sealing system make it difficult to
simulate wear on the sealing ring. The energetic consideration of the wear process
offers the possibility of quantifying influencing variables more easily by their
energetic contribution, which can be determined experimentally. Based on experimentally
measured total friction moments, and with the help of a semi-analytical (SA) solid
contact model based on the half-space theory, this paper presents a modelling
approach for the calculation of wear at the sealing ring. The model presented
in this work differs from the existing models in two ways. The first particularity
is the coupling of SA method with finite element method (FEM) for the resolution
of the contact between the sealing lip and the shaft, allowing a fine discretization
of the contact zone (by SA method) and the consideration of the structural behavior
(by FE method). The SA method compared to the commonly used FEM presents a great
saving in computation time. The second particularity is the use of the real data
obtained during the wear tests. Most existing simulation models are based purely
on contact pressure. This means that through the contact pressure obtained by
simulation and a given sliding distance value, a friction energy will be estimated
which will be used in a next step using a wear model such as Archad’s to
calculate the wear rate. In this publication the value of friction energy was
obtained directly on an experimental basis and a more appropriate wear law, such
as Fleischer’s, taking into account the friction conditions, was used to
estimate the wear rate.

text: Regarding the increasing demand in seal lifetime and energy efficiency, a
detailed microscopic simulation is necessary—as an addition to experimental investigations—to
better understand and improve radial shaft seals. For this purpose, typically
thermoelastohydrodynamic lubrication (TEHL) simulations are used. The published
models range from rather simple elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) models to
very sophisticated TEHL models. Only very few models take into account the roughness
or microstructure of both contact surfaces, though, since this would require the
consideration of transient effects. In this article, a transient TEHL model for
the contact of radial shaft seals is presented. Studies of the sealing contact
are conducted, and the possibility of investigating shaft microstructuring is
shown.

text: 'Zusammenfassung.
