  abstract     = {{<jats:p>This paper studies the performance of improper Gaussian signaling (IGS) over a 2-user Rayleigh single-input single-output (SISO) interference channel, treating interference as noise. We assume that the receivers have perfect channel state information (CSI), while the transmitters have access to only statistical CSI. Under these assumptions, we consider a signaling scheme, which we refer to as proper/improper Gaussian signaling or PGS/IGS, where at most one user may employ IGS. For the Rayleigh fading channel model, we characterize the statistical distribution of the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio at each receiver and derive closed-form expressions for the ergodic rates. By adapting the powers, we characterize the Pareto boundary of the ergodic rate region for the 2-user fading IC. The ergodic transmission rates can be attained using fixed-rate codebooks and no optimization is involved. Our results show that, in the moderate and strong interference regimes, the proposed PGS/IGS scheme improves the performance with respect to the PGS scheme. Additionally, we numerically compute the ergodic rate region of the full IGS scheme when both users can employ IGS and their transmission parameters are optimized by an exhaustive search. Our results suggest that most of the Pareto optimal points for the 2-user fading IC channel are attained when either both users transmit PGS or when one transmits PGS and the other transmits maximally improper Gaussian signals and time sharing is allowed.</jats:p>}},

               <jats:p>For a compact Riemannian locally symmetric space $\mathcal M$ of rank 1 and an associated vector bundle $\mathbf V_{\tau }$ over the unit cosphere bundle $S^{\ast }\mathcal M$, we give a precise description of those classical (Pollicott–Ruelle) resonant states on $\mathbf V_{\tau }$ that vanish under covariant derivatives in the Anosov-unstable directions of the chaotic geodesic flow on $S^{\ast }\mathcal M$. In particular, we show that they are isomorphically mapped by natural pushforwards into generalized common eigenspaces of the algebra of invariant differential operators $D(G,\sigma )$ on compatible associated vector bundles $\mathbf W_{\sigma }$ over $\mathcal M$. As a consequence of this description, we obtain an exact band structure of the Pollicott–Ruelle spectrum. Further, under some mild assumptions on the representations $\tau$ and $\sigma$ defining the bundles $\mathbf V_{\tau }$ and $\mathbf W_{\sigma }$, we obtain a very explicit description of the generalized common eigenspaces. This allows us to relate classical Pollicott–Ruelle resonances to quantum eigenvalues of a Laplacian in a suitable Hilbert space of sections of $\mathbf W_{\sigma }$. Our methods of proof are based on representation theory and Lie theory.</jats:p>}},

We extend the current literature dealing with CDS trading by analyzing further CDS trading-specific, fundamental bank-specific as well as macroeconomic and institutional determinants with a focus on bank CDS trading. We find that, next to well-discussed determinants for corporate firms in the literature, especially a bank's tail risk, capital adequacy, loan portfolio and business model affect a bank's outstanding CDS net notional. This finding indicates that investors in the bank CDS market partly have a recourse to a fundamental analysis for their investment decision. Our study fills an important gap since empirical studies have solely focused on sovereign and corporate CDS yet. In addition, the analysis at hand provides important implications for both academics and practitioners since understanding the trading motives of bank CDS investors gives deeper insights into the still opaque CDS market.}},
