[{"_id":"27574","department":[{"_id":"35"},{"_id":"22"},{"_id":"395"}],"user_id":"49428","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"publication":"Frontiers in Endocrinology","type":"journal_article","abstract":[{"text":"<jats:p>In adults with major depressive disorder (MDD), a dysfunction between the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) and the hypothalamus-pituitary-thyroid (HPT) axis has been shown, but the interaction of both axes has not yet been studied in adolescent major depressive disorder (MDD). Data from 273 adolescents diagnosed with MDD from two single center cross-sectional studies were used for analysis. Serum levels of thyrotropin (TSH), free levothyroxine (fT4), and cortisol were determined as indicators of basal HPT and HPA axis functioning and compared to that of adolescent controls by t-tests. Quantile regression was employed in the sample of adolescents with MDD to investigate the relationship between both axes in the normal as well as the pathological range of cortisol levels, considering confounders of both axes. In adolescent MDD, cortisol levels and TSH levels were significantly elevated in comparison to controls (<jats:italic>p</jats:italic> = &amp;lt;.001, <jats:italic>d</jats:italic> = 1.35, large effect size, and <jats:italic>p</jats:italic> = &amp;lt;.001, <jats:italic>d</jats:italic> = 0.79, moderate effect size, respectively). There was a positive linear relationship between TSH and cortisol (<jats:italic>p</jats:italic> = .003, <jats:italic>d</jats:italic> = 0.25, small effect size) at the median of cortisol levels (50<jats:sup>th</jats:sup> percentile). However, no relationship between TSH and cortisol was found in hypercortisolemia (cortisol levels at the 97.5<jats:sup>th</jats:sup> percentile). These findings imply that HPT and HPA axis dysfunction is common in adolescents with MDD and that function of both axes is only loosely related. Dabei beruhen Zustandsüberwachungssysteme auf den folgenden Bausteinen: Sensorik, Datenvorverarbeitung, Merkmalsextraktion und -auswahl, Diagnose bzw. Prognose sowie einer Entscheidungsfindung basierend auf den Ergebnissen. Jeder dieser Bausteine erfordert individuelle Einstellungen, um ein geeignetes Zustandsüberwachungssystem für die jeweilige Anwendung zu entwickeln. Eine offene Fragestellung im Bereich der Zustandsüberwachung ergibt sich aufgrund der Unsicherheit der Zukunft, die sich in den zukünftigen Betriebs- und Umgebungsbedingungen zeigt. Diese Unsicherheit gilt es in allen Bausteinen zu berücksichtigen.\r\nDieser Beitrag konzentriert sich auf den Baustein Merkmalsextraktion und -selektion, mit dem Ziel anhand geeigneter Merkmale eine Prognose der nutzbaren Restlebensdauer mit hoher Genauigkeit realisieren zu können. Daher werden geeignete Merkmale aus dem Zeitbereich und daraus abgeleitete Zustandsindikatoren für die Restlebensdauerprognose von technischen Systemen vorgestellt. Dabei sind Zustandsindikatoren Kenngrößen zur Beobachtung des Zustands der kritischen Systemkomponenten. Anhand dreier Anwendungsbeispiele wird ihre Eignung evaluiert. Dabei werden Daten aus Lebensdauerversuchen unter instationären Betriebs- und Umgebungsbedingungen ausgewertet. Die auftretenden Unsicherheiten der Zukunft werden somit berücksichtigt. Die Beispielsysteme beruhen auf Gummi-Metall-Elementen und Wälzlagern. Aus den generierten Ergebnissen lässt sich schließen, dass die Zustandsindikatoren aus der betrachteten Zeitreihen-Toolbox auch unter unbekannten Betriebs- und Umgebungsbedingungen robust sind.\r\n","lang":"ger"},{"text":"Due to the advances in digitalization, condition monitoring systems have found numerous applications in the industry due to benefits such as improved reliability and lowered costs through condition-based or predictive maintenance. Condition monitoring systems typically involve elements, such as data acquisition via suitable sensors, data preprocessing, feature extraction and selection, diagnostics, prognostics and (maintenance) decisions based on diagnosis or prognosis. For the application-specific development of a suitable condition monitoring system, each of these elements requires individual settings. Due to the uncertainty of the future, an open question arises in the condition monitoring field, which is reflected in unknown future operating and environmental conditions. This uncertainty needs consideration in all elements of a condition monitoring system.\r\nThis article focuses on feature extraction and selection, building on the hypothesis that the remaining useful life of a technical system can be predicted with high accuracy utilizing suitable features. In this article, health indicators derived from time-domain features that permit the monitoring of the health of critical system components are presented for predicting the remaining useful life of technical systems. Three distinct application examples based on rubber-metal elements and rolling-element bearings are evaluated to validate the suitability of the presented methods. Experimental data from accelerated lifetime tests conducted under non-stationary operating and environmental conditions are considered to take possible future uncertainties into account. In the 12 years since the last edition of the tables, a large amount of new data has become available.</jats:p>\r\n               </jats:sec>\r\n               <jats:sec>\r\n                  <jats:title>Objectives</jats:title>\r\n                  <jats:p>To systematically review and tabulate published and unpublished sources of reliable GI values, including an assessment of the reliability of the data.</jats:p>\r\n               </jats:sec>\r\n               <jats:sec>\r\n                  <jats:title>Methods</jats:title>\r\n                  <jats:p>This edition of the tables lists over 4000 items, a 61% increase in the number of entries compared to the 2008 edition. The data have been separated into 2 lists. The first represents more precise values derived using the methodology recommended by the International Standards Organization (∼2100 items). The second list contains values determined using less robust methods, including using limited numbers of healthy subjects or with a large SEM (∼1900 food items).</jats:p>\r\n               </jats:sec>\r\n               <jats:sec>\r\n                  <jats:title>Results</jats:title>\r\n                  <jats:p>Dairy products, legumes, pasta, and fruits were usually low-GI foods (≤55 on the 100-point glucose scale) and had consistent values around the world. Cereals and cereal products, however, including whole-grain or whole-meal versions, showed wide variation in GI values, presumably arising from variations in manufacturing methods. Breads, breakfast cereals, rice, savory snack products, and regional foods were available in high-, medium-, and low-GI versions. Most varieties of potato were high-GI foods, but specific low-GI varieties have now been identified.</jats:p>\r\n               </jats:sec>\r\n               <jats:sec>\r\n                  <jats:title>Conclusions</jats:title>\r\n                  <jats:p>The availability of new data on the GIs of foods will facilitate wider research and application of the twin concepts of GI and GL. Although the 2021 edition of the tables improves the quality and quantity of GI data available for research and clinical practice, GI testing of regional foods remains a priority. Dabei sind empirische Belege für eine positive Wirksamkeit nach wie vor kaum vorhanden, es gibt sogar Befunde zu ‚negativen‘ Konsequenzen von Lehrkräftekooperation. Um diese Widersprüchlichkeit zu klären, wurde in der vorliegenden Arbeit Kooperation nicht als Instrument bzw. als Technik betrachtet, sondern als soziale Praxis verstanden, in der eigenlogisches, kollektiv-implizites Wissen (re)produziert wird (Community of Practice). Parallel dazu wurde ein praxeologisches Kompetenzverständnis (Praxiskompetenz) eingeführt, das wesentlich auf die Praxeologie Pierre Bourdieus zurückgeht und den Zusammenhang zwischen Lehrkräftekooperation als Community of Practice und kollektiv strukturierter, individueller Kompetenz theoretisch verdeutlicht. Die empirischen Befunde, welche mittels der Dokumentarischen Methode generiert wurden, verweisen auf die Bedeutung unterschiedlicher Relationslogiken (Nicht-Passung, Entfaltung, Herausforderung) für das ‚Lernen‘ von oder innerhalb von Praxiskompetenz(en) und damit auch auf die Wichtigkeit einer grundlegend kollektiv gerahmten Perspektive auf Lehrkräftekooperation. Generally speaking, AutoML approaches comprise two major components: a search space model and an optimizer for traversing the space. Recent approaches have shown impressive results in the realm of supervised learning, most notably (single-label) classification (SLC). Moreover, first attempts at extending these approaches towards multi-label classification (MLC) have been made. While the space of candidate pipelines is already huge in SLC, the complexity of the search space is raised to an even higher power in MLC. One may wonder, therefore, whether and to what extent optimizers established for SLC can scale to this increased complexity, and how they compare to each other. This paper makes the following contributions: First, we survey existing approaches to AutoML for MLC. Second, we augment these approaches with optimizers not previously tried for MLC. Third, we propose a benchmarking framework that supports a fair and systematic comparison. Fourth, we conduct an extensive experimental study, evaluating the methods on a suite of MLC problems. These models represent diverse resource requirements of application in a datacenter network, which can be represented by the coflow abstraction. The conventional method of creating hand-crafted coflow heuristics for admission or scheduling for different workloads is practically infeasible. In this paper, we propose a deep reinforcement learning (DRL)-based coflow admission scheme -- LCS -- that can learn an admission policy for a higher-level performance objective, i.e., maximize successful coflow admissions, without manual feature engineering.  LCS is trained on a production trace, which has online coflow arrivals. Meanwhile it has entered the consumer market with digital home assistants with a spoken language interface being its most prominent application. Speech recorded at a distance is affected by various acoustic distortions and, consequently, quite different processing pipelines have emerged compared to ASR for close-talk speech. A signal enhancement front-end for dereverberation, source separation and acoustic beamforming is employed to clean up the speech, and the back-end ASR engine is robustified by multi-condition training and adaptation. We will also describe the so-called end-to-end approach to ASR, which is a new promising architecture that has recently been extended to the far-field scenario. There are a multitude of options for excitation and detection of theses waves, such as optical and piezoelectric systems. While optical systems, with thermoelastic excitation and interferometric detection, have the benefit of being contactless, they usually require rather complex and expensive experimental setups. Piezoelectric systems are more easily realised but require direct contact with the specimen and usually have a limited bandwidth, especially in case of piezoelectric excitation. In this work, the authors compare the properties of piezoelectric and optical detection methods for broad-band acoustic signals. The shape (e. g. the displacement) of a propagating plate wave is given by its frequency and wave number, allowing to investigate correlations between mode shapes and received signal strengths. This is aided by evaluations in normalised frequency and wavenumber space, facilitating comparisons of different specimens.
