In addition to the daily energy consumption, this international standard- ization introduced performance tests for cooling capacity and temperature rise time. While the cooling capacity has long been anchored in various test procedures of consumer organizations, the temperature rise time, which has only been tested on freezers so far, will be a decisive factor in the future. Moreover, the need for so-called "smart appliances" that may balance power consumption is increasing since such devices may compensate the volatility of renewable energies and thus stabilize the power grid. Against this background, eight commercial household refrigerators and refrigerator-freezers are equipped with polymer-bound phase change materials (PCM) and their performance is determined under the new stan- dard test conditions. The results show that the introduction of PCM increases the cooling capacity by up to 33 % and also increases the temperature rise time by up to 145 %, without affecting power consump- tion, as compared to the unmodified refrigeration appliances.}}, author = {{Sonnenrein, Gerrit and Baumhögger, Elmar and Elsner, Andreas and Morbach, A. and Neukötter, Moritz and Paul, Andreas and Vrabec, J.}}, issn = {{0140-7007}}, journal = {{International Journal of Refrigeration}}, pages = {{448--456}}, publisher = {{Elsevier}}, title = {{{Improving the performance of household refrigerating appliances through the integration of phase change materials in the context of the new global refrigerator standard IEC 62552:2015}}}, doi = {{10.1016/j.ijrefrig.2020.07.025}}, volume = {{119}}, year = {{2020}}, } @article{21512, abstract = {{Despite the omnipresence of household refrigeration appliances, there is still a lack of knowledge about their agerelated efficiency loss over time. Past studies provide basic evidence for increasing electricity consumption of cooling appliances with ageing but fail to investigate the associated technical wear. Concentrating on the degradation of the thermal insulation, we first determined the ageing process of sealed samples of polyurethane rigid foam by investigating changes in cell gas composition and thermal conductivity over time. Simultaneously, the main challenge was to develop an approach that investigates the age-related efficiency loss of the insulation without its destruction. This testing procedure is referred to as the Bonn method. The non-destructive Bonn method was applied to varying refrigerator models in a series of successive experiments to evaluate the insulation degradation over time. Subsequently, the physical relationship between the test value of the Bonn method and the heat transfer through the multi-layered compartment walls of domestic refrigeration appliances was established, ultimately characterising the degrading insulation in terms of increasing heat transfer. Our results give substantiated evidence that the efficiency loss of cooling appliances is greatly influenced by insulation degradation over time. The ageing of sealed samples of polyurethane rigid foam indicates a large initial increase of thermal conductivity by 15% within the first year, corresponding to a change in cell gas composition. These results are in line with those of the Bonn method, emphasising an increasing heat flow through the multi-layered compartment walls of domestic refrigerators with ageing. These techniques allow for the joining of dissimilar materials and thus enable multi-material design, while thermic joining methods reach their limits. Semi-tubular self-piercing riveting is an important mechanical joining technology. The rivet production, however, is costly and time-consuming, as the process consists of several process steps including the heat treatment and coating of the rivets in order to achieve an adequate strength and corrosion resistance. The use of high nitrogen steel as rivet material leads to the possibility of reducing process steps and hence increasing the efficiency of the process. However, the high tool loads being expected due to the high strain hardening of the material are a major challenge during the rivet production. Thus, there is a need for appropriate forming strategies, such as the manufacturing of the rivets at elevated temperatures. Prior investigations led to the conclusion that forming already at 200 °C results in a distinct reduction of the yield strength. To create a deeper understanding of the forming behaviour of high nitrogen steel at elevated temperatures, compression tests were conducted in a temperature range between room temperature and 200 °C. The determined true stress – true strain curves are the basis for the further process and tool design of the rivet production. Another key factor for the rivet manufacturing at elevated temperatures is the influence of the process temperature on the tribological conditions. For this reason, ring compression tests at room temperature and 200 °C are carried out. The friction factors are determined on the basis of calibration curves resulting from the numerical analysis of the ring compression process. The investigations indicate that the friction factor at 200 °C is significantly higher compared to room temperature. Passive ATT (ATTp) may be different to dynamic ATT (ATTd) due to muscle activation patterns. This study aimed to investigate whether muscle activation during jumping can control ATT in healthy participants. Methods ATTp of twenty-one healthy participants was measured using a KT-1000 arthrometer. All participants performed single leg hops for distance during which ATTd, knee flexion angles and knee flexion moments were measured using a 3D motion capture system. During both tests, sEMG signals were recorded. Results A negative correlation was found between ATTp and the maximal ATTd (r = − 0.47, p = 0.028). An N-Way ANOVA showed that larger semitendinosus activity was seen when ATTd was larger, while less biceps femoris activity and rectus femoris activity were seen. Moreover, larger knee extension moment, knee flexion angle and ground reaction force in the anterior-posterior direction were seen when ATTd was larger. Conclusion Participants with more ATTp showed smaller ATTd during jump landing. Muscle activation did not contribute to reduce ATTd during impact of a jump-landing at the observed knee angles. However, subjects with large ATTp landed with less knee flexion and consequently showed less ATTd. The results of this study give information on how healthy people control knee laxity during jump-landing. Level of evidence III }}, author = {{Keizer, Michèle N. The aims of this study were to determine whether the tibia plateau angle correlates with dynamic anterior tibia translation (ATT) after an anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and whether the tibia plateau angle correlates with aspects of knee kinematics and kinetics during jump landing. Methods Thirty-seven patients after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with autograft hamstring tendon were included. Knee flexion angle and knee extension moment during single leg hops for distance were determined using a motion capture system and the dynamic ATT with its embedded method. The medial and lateral posterior tibia plateau angle were measured using MRI. Moreover, passive ATT was measured using the KT-1000 arthrometer. Results A weak negative correlation was found between the maximal dynamic ATT and the medial tibia plateau angle (p = 0.028, r = − 0.36) and between the maximal knee flexion angle and the lateral tibia plateau angle (p = 0.025, r = − 0.37) during landing. Dabei stellt sich das Testverfahren als ausreichend sensitiv heraus, um für N = 68 Testpersonen (ca. 20 % Dropout) erwartungstreu eine signifikante Zunahme des Testscores während des Praxissemesters, welches als Lerngelegenheit angenommen werden kann, zu messen.}}, author = {{Schröder, Jan and Riese, Josef and Vogelsang, Christoph and Borowski, Andreas and Buschhüter, David and Enkrott, Patrick and Kempin, Maren and Kulgemeyer, Christoph and Reinhold, Peter and Schecker, Horst}}, issn = {{0949-1147}}, journal = {{Zeitschrift für Didaktik der Naturwissenschaften}}, number = {{1}}, pages = {{103--122}}, publisher = {{Springer Science and Business Media LLC}}, title = {{{Die Messung der Fähigkeit zur Unterrichtsplanung im Fach Physik mit Hilfe eines standardisierten Performanztests}}}, doi = {{10.1007/s40573-020-00115-w}}, volume = {{26}}, year = {{2020}}, } @inbook{45181, author = {{Vogelsang, Christoph and Borowski, Andreas and Kulgemeyer, Christoph and Riese, Josef and Buschhüter, David and Enkrott, Patrick and Kempin, Maren and Reinhold, Peter and Schecker, Horst and Schröder, Jan}}, booktitle = {{Student Learning in German Higher Education}}, editor = {{Zlatkin-Troitschanskaia, Olga and Pant, Hans Anand and Toepper, Miriam and Lautenbach, Corinna}}, isbn = {{9783658278854}}, pages = {{105--123}}, publisher = {{Springer Fachmedien Wiesbaden}}, title = {{{Development of Prospective Physics Teachers’ Professional Knowledge and Skills during a One-Semester School Internship}}}, doi = {{10.1007/978-3-658-27886-1_6}}, year = {{2020}}, } @article{45180, author = {{Kulgemeyer, Christoph and Borowski, Andreas and Buschhüter, David and Enkrott, Patrick and Kempin, Maren and Reinhold, Peter and Riese, Josef and Schecker, Horst and Schröder, Jan and Vogelsang, Christoph}}, issn = {{0022-4308}}, journal = {{Journal of Research in Science Teaching}}, keywords = {{Education}}, pages = {{1--29}}, publisher = {{Wiley}}, title = {{{Professional knowledge affects action-related skills: The development of preservice physics teachers’ explaining skills during a field experience}}}, doi = {{10.1002/tea.21632}}, volume = {{57}}, year = {{2020}}, } @article{45440, author = {{Kamcili-Yildiz, Naciye and Reis, Oliver and Mauritz, Gerrit and Hillebrand, Miriam and Wittke, Annika}}, journal = {{Theo-Web. It is known that the surface integrity of parts processed by selective laser melting (SLM) differs from those obtained from bulk materials. Although 316L stainless steel is among the most investigated material for SLM, the adhesion of thermally sprayed coatings on 316L stainless steel substrates processed by SLM has not been studied yet. This study aims at evaluating the effect of various mechanical pre-treatments onto 316L stainless steel substrates processed by SLM and their effect on the adhesion of high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF)-sprayed WC-Co coatings. To differentiate between topographical effects and residual stress-related phenomena, a stress-relief heat treatment of the SLM substrates served as a reference throughout the investigations. The differently pre-treated SLM substrates were investigated with regard to the surface roughness and residual stresses. For the HVOF-sprayed SLM composites, Vickers interfacial indentation tests were conducted to assess the resulting coating adhesion. The findings demonstrated that the HVOF-sprayed WC-Co coatings predominantly exhibit good adhesion to the SLM 316L substrates. However, it was found that the stress state in the SLM 316L substrate surface is more likely to affect the adhesion of the WC-Co coating, while the substrate surface roughness showed a marginal effect.}}, author = {{Tillmann, Wolfgang and Hagen, Leif and Schaak, Christoph and Liß, J. and Schaper, Mirko and Hoyer, Kay-Peter and Aydinöz, Mehmet Esat and Garthe, Kai-Uwe}}, issn = {{1059-9630}}, journal = {{Journal of Thermal Spray Technology}}, keywords = {{Materials Chemistry, Surfaces, Coatings and Films, Condensed Matter Physics}}, number = {{6}}, pages = {{1396--1409}}, publisher = {{Springer Science and Business Media LLC}}, title = {{{Adhesion of HVOF-Sprayed WC-Co Coatings on 316L Substrates Processed by SLM}}}, doi = {{10.1007/s11666-020-01081-y}}, volume = {{29}}, year = {{2020}}, } @article{41518, author = {{Tillmann, Wolfgang and Hagen, Leif and Garthe, Kai-Uwe and Hoyer, Kay-Peter and Schaper, Mirko}}, issn = {{0933-5137}}, journal = {{Materialwissenschaft und Werkstofftechnik}}, keywords = {{Mechanical Engineering, Mechanics of Materials, Condensed Matter Physics, General Materials Science}}, number = {{11}}, pages = {{1452--1464}}, publisher = {{Wiley}}, title = {{{Effect of substrate pre‐treatment on the low cycle fatigue performance of tungsten carbide‐cobalt coated additive manufactured 316 L substrates}}}, doi = {{10.1002/mawe.202000109}}, volume = {{51}}, year = {{2020}}, } @article{23797, abstract = {{Abstract Safety-relevant components in automobiles require materials that combine high strength with sufficient residual ductility and high-energy absorption.
