The objective of this contribution was to develop a dynamic energy model to determine the power consumption of refrigeration appliances considering degradation factors and behaviour. These were included by model parameters for direct consumer interactions, such as the storage behaviour, door openings and temperature setting, as well as indirect actions, e.g. exposing an appliance to specific temperature conditions at an installation site. For this, an online-survey was conducted to evaluate the consumer behaviour. A total of 706 consumers participated in the national questionnaire, serving as input for the dynamic energy model. It was found that the efficiency loss increases the power consumption by at least 1% annually, leading to an excess of 10% after 10 years of usage. Another important finding was that 32.5% of appliance’s power consumption results from consumer behaviour, whereas the promotion of behavioural changes leads to a significant decrease of the consumer-induced consumption. This allows the coating of the rivets to be omitted due to the corrosion resistance of the material and, since the strength of the stainless steel is achieved by cold forming, heat treatment is no longer required. In addition, it is possible to adjust the local strength within the rivet. Because of that, the authors have elaborated a concept for using high nitrogen steel 1.3815 as the rivet material. The present investigation focusses on the joint strength in order to evaluate the capability of rivets in high nitrogen steel by comparison to conventional rivets made of treatable steel. Due to certain challenges in the forming process of the high nitrogen steel rivets, deviations result from the targeted rivet geometry. Mainly these deviations cause a lower joint strength with these rivets, which is, however, adequate. All in all, the capability of the new rivet is proven by the results of this investigation. }}, author = {{Uhe, Benedikt and Kuball, Clara-Maria and Merklein, Marion and Meschut, Gerson}}, keywords = {{Self-piercing Riveting, Joining Technology, Rivet Geometry, Rivet Material, High Nitrogen Steel, Joint Strength}}, location = {{Liège, Belgien}}, title = {{{Strength of self-piercing riveted Joints with conventional Rivets and Rivets made of High Nitrogen Steel}}}, doi = {{10.25518/esaform21.1911}}, year = {{2021}}, } @article{22272, abstract = {{The number of multi-material joints is increasing as a result of lightweight design. Self-piercing riveting (SPR) is an important mechanical joining technique for multi-material structures. Rivets for SPR are coated to prevent corrosion, but this coating also influences the friction that prevails during the joining process. The aim of the present investigation is to evaluate this influence. The investigation focuses on the common rivet coatings Almac® and zinc-nickel with topcoat as well as on uncoated rivet surfaces. First of all, the coating thickness and the uniformity of the coating distribution are analysed. Friction tests facilitate the classification of the surface properties. The influence of the friction on the characteristic joint parameters and the force-stroke curves is analysed by means of experimental joining tests. More in-depth knowledge of the effects that occur is achieved through the use of numerical simulation. Overall, it is shown that the surface condition of the rivet has an impact on the friction during the joining process and on the resulting joint. However, the detected deviations between different surface conditions do not restrict the operational capability of SPR and the properties of uncoated rivet surfaces, in particular, are similar to those of Almac®-coated rivets. It can thus be assumed that SPR with respect to the joining process is also possible without rivet coating in principle.}}, author = {{Uhe, Benedikt and Kuball, Clara-Maria and Merklein, Marion and Meschut, Gerson}}, journal = {{Key Engineering Materials}}, keywords = {{Coating, Friction, Joining}}, pages = {{11--18}}, title = {{{Influence of the Rivet Coating on the Friction during Self-Piercing Riveting}}}, doi = {{10.4028/www.scientific.net/KEM.883.11}}, volume = {{883}}, year = {{2021}}, } @inproceedings{30845, author = {{Kuball, Clara-Maria and Uhe, Benedikt and Meschut, Gerson and Merklein, Marion}}, location = {{Sintra, PT}}, title = {{{Selective application of different forming temperatures for individual process stages in a rivet manufacturing process with high nitrogen steel}}}, year = {{2021}}, } @article{24541, abstract = {{The mechanical properties of joined structures are determined considerably by the chosen joining technology. With the aim of providing a method that enables a faster and more profound decision-making in the spatial distribution of joining points during product development, a new method for the load path analysis of joining points is presented. For an exemplary car body, the load type in the joining elements, i.e. pure tensile, shear and combined tensile-shear loads, is determined using finite element analysis (FEA). Based on the evaluated loads, the resulting load paths in selected joining points are analyzed using a 2D FE-model of a clinching point. State of the art methods for load path analysis are dependent on the selected coordinate system or the existing stress state. Thus, a general statement about the load transmission path is not possible at this time. Here, a novel method for the analysis of load paths is used, which is independent of the alignment of the analyzed geometry. The basic assumption of the new load path analysis method was confirmed by using a simple specimen with a square hole in different orientations. The results presented here show a possibility to display the load transmission path invariantly. In further steps, the method will be extended for 3D analysis and the investigation of more complex assemblies. However, when cHRI and research are brought into a kindergarten, a range of ethical and related procedural aspects have to be considered and dealt with. While ethical models elaborated within other human–robot interaction settings, e.g., assisted living contexts, can provide some important indicators for relevant issues, we argue that it is important to start developing a systematic approach to identify and tackle those ethical issues which rise with cHRI in kindergarten settings on a more global level and address the impact of the technology from a macroperspective beyond the effects on the individual. Based on our experience in conducting studies with children in general and pedagogical considerations on the role of the institution of kindergarten in specific, in this paper, we enfold some relevant aspects that have barely been addressed in an explicit way in current cHRI research. Four areas are analyzed and key ethical issues are identified in each area: (1) the institutional setting of a kindergarten, (2) children as a vulnerable group, (3) the caregivers’ role, and (4) pedagogical concepts. With our considerations, we aim at (i) broadening the methodology of the current studies within the area of cHRI, (ii) revalidate it based on our comprehensive empirical experience with research in kindergarten settings, both laboratory and real-world contexts, and (iii) provide a framework for the development of a more systematic approach to address the ethical issues in cHRI research within kindergarten settings.}}, author = {{Tolksdorf, Nils Frederik and Siebert, Scarlet and Zorn, Isabel and Horwath, Ilona and Rohlfing, Katharina J.}}, issn = {{1875-4791}}, journal = {{International Journal of Social Robotics}}, pages = {{129--140}}, title = {{{Ethical Considerations of Applying Robots in Kindergarten Settings: Towards an Approach from a Macroperspective}}}, doi = {{10.1007/s12369-020-00622-3}}, year = {{2021}}, } @article{44375, author = {{Chormey, Dotse Selali and Tonbul, Güldeniz and Soylu, Güneş and Saygılar, Ahmet and Bakırdere, Sezgin}}, issn = {{0003-2719}}, journal = {{Analytical Letters}}, keywords = {{Dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME), gas chromatography – mass spectrometry (GC-MS), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, QuEChERS}}, number = {{2}}, pages = {{237--245}}, publisher = {{Informa UK Limited}}, title = {{{Determination of Four Priority Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Food Samples by Gas Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) after Vortex Assisted Dispersive Liquid-Liquid Microextraction (DLLME)}}}, doi = {{10.1080/00032719.2021.1922432}}, volume = {{55}}, year = {{2021}}, } @misc{44386, author = {{Ahrens, Stephan}}, booktitle = {{In: Filmblatt 25:73/74 }}, pages = {{142--145}}, title = {{{Hermann Kappelhoff, Christine Lötscher, Daniel Illger (Hg.): Filmische Seitenblicke. However, how and when to start a running program are uncertain. Objective To explore the feasibility of a structured program to reintroduce running after ACLR and evaluate the predictive value of potential predictors of short-term success. Design Longitudinal cohort study. Setting Local research center and participants' homes. Patients or Other Participants Thirty-five participants were recruited after ACLR. Intervention(s) Program with a progression algorithm to reintroduce running (10 running sessions in 14 days). Main Outcome Measure(s) The criterion for short-term success was no exacerbation of symptoms. Potential predictors were (1) the International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) subjective knee form score, (2) ACL Return to Sport after Injury questionnaire score, (3) quadriceps and hamstrings strength, (4) step-down endurance test, and (5) modified Star Excursion Balance test. Descriptive statistics were performed to study the feasibility of the RTR program, and Poisson regression analysis was used to evaluate predictors of success. Results Of the 34 participants, 33 completed the RTR program. Sixteen participants experienced some temporary exacerbation of symptoms, but only 1 had to stop the program. The initial IKDC score was the only significant predictor of a successful RTR, with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 80.4%. An IKDC cut-off of 63.7/100 differentiated responders and nonresponders with the highest sensitivity and specificity (77.8% and 75.0%, respectively). A participant with an IKDC score above this threshold had a 3-fold greater chance of success. Conclusions Our results confirm the feasibility of our RTR program and progression algorithm after ACLR. Athletes younger than 25 years who return to sports have a second injury rate of 23%. There may be a mismatch between rehabilitation contents and the demands an athlete faces after returning to sports. Current return-to-sports (RTS) tests utilize closed and predictable motor skills; however, demands on the field are different. Neurocognitive functions are essential to manage dynamic sport situations and may fluctuate after peripheral injuries. Most RTS and rehabilitation paradigms appear to lack this aspect, which might be linked to increased risk of second injury. Objective: This systematic and scoping review aims to map existing evidence about neurocognitive and neurophysiological functions in athletes, which could be linked to ACL injury in an integrated fashion and bring an extensive perspective to assessment and rehabilitation approaches. Data Sources: PubMed and Cochrane databases were searched to identify relevant studies published between 2005 and 2020 using the keywords ACL, brain, cortical, neuroplasticity, cognitive, cognition, neurocognition, and athletes. Study Selection: Studies investigating either neurocognitive or neurophysiological functions in athletes and linking these to ACL injury regardless of their design and technique were included. Study Design: Systematic review. Level of Evidence: Level 3. Data Extraction: The demographic, temporal, neurological, and behavioral data revealing possible injury-related aspects were extracted and summarized. Results: A total of 16 studies were included in this review. Deficits in different neurocognitive domains and changes in neurophysiological functions could be a predisposing risk factor for, or a consequence caused by, ACL injuries. Conclusion: Clinicians should view ACL injuries not only as a musculoskeletal but also as a neural lesion with neurocognitive and neurophysiological aspects. To be included, (1) studies had to be experiments where the DL group was compared to a control group engaged in a different motor learning method (lack of practice was not eligible), (2) studies had to describe the effects on one or more measures of performance in a skill or movement task, and (3) the study report had to be published as a full paper in a journal or as a book chapter. Results: Twenty-seven studies encompassing 31 experiments were included. Overall heterogeneity for the acquisition phase (post-pre; I2 = 77%) as well as for the retention phase (retention-pre; I2 = 79%) was large, and risk of bias was high. The meta-analysis showed an overall small effect size of 0.26 [0.10, 0.42] in the acquisition phase for participants in the DL group compared to other motor learning methods. In the retention phase, an overall medium effect size of 0.61 [0.30, 0.91] was observed for participants in the DL group compared to other motor learning methods.Discussion/Conclusion: Given the large amount of heterogeneity, limited number of studies, low sample sizes, low statistical power, possible publication bias, and high risk of bias in general, inferences about the effectiveness of DL would be premature. Even though DL shows potential to result in greater average improvements between pre- and post/retention test compared to non-variability-based motor learning methods, more high-quality research is needed before issuing such a statement. However, the non-isothermal nature of these processes leads to challenges in evaluating the forming limits, since established methods such as Forming Limit Curves (FLCs) only allow the assessment of critical forming strains for steady temperatures. For this reason, a temperature-dependent extension of the well-established GISSMO (Generalized Incremental Stress State Dependent Damage Model) fracture indicator framework is developed by the authors to predict forming failures under non-isothermal conditions. In this paper, a general approach to combine several isothermal FLCs within the temperature-extended GISSMO model into a temperature-dependent forming limit surface is investigated. The general capabilities of the model are tested in a coupled thermo-mechanical FEA using the example of warm forming of an AA5182-O sheet metal cross-die cup. The obtained results are then compared with state of the art of evaluation methods. By taking the strain and temperature path into account, GISSMO predicts greater drawing depths by up to 20% than established methods. In this way the forming and so the lightweight potential of sheet metal parts can by fully exploited. Moreover, the risk and locus of failure can be evaluated directly on the part geometry by a contour plot. For biomedical applications, Ag-containing a-C (a-C:Ag) represents a promising film material for improving the biofunctional surface properties of Ti-based alloys. In a sputtering process, a-C:Ag films, with Ag contents up to 7.5 at.%, were deposited with a chemically graded TixCy interlayer onto Ti6Al4V. The tribo-mechanical and biocompatible properties of a-C:Ag were evaluated. The influence of the Ag content on these properties was analyzed and compared to those of uncoated Ti6Al4V. Raman spectroscopy reveals that the amount of incorporated Ag does not induce significant structural changes in the disordered network, only a reduced number of vacancies and sp3-coordinated C bonds within the sp2-dominant a-C network is assigned to the films with high Ag concentration. As weight reduction is desired, these cast components are usually made from high-strength aluminium alloys of the Al-Si (Mn, Mg) system, which have limited weldability. The mechanical joinability of the cast components depends on their ductility, which is influenced by the microstructure. High-strength cast aluminium alloys have relatively low ductility, which leads to cracking of the joints. This limits the range of applications for cast aluminium alloys. In this study, an aluminium alloy of the Al-Si system AlSi9 is used to investigate relationships between solidification conditions during the sand casting process, microstructure, mechanical properties, and joinability. The demonstrator is a stepped plate with a minimum thickness of 2.0 mm and a maximum thickness of 4.0 mm, whereas the thickness difference between neighbour steps amounts to 0.5 mm. In this paper, a pulsed YVO4 Laser source with a wavelength of 1064 nm and a maximum power of 25 W was utilized to increase the surface area of the steel HCT490X in order to improve its bonding properties with a carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP). Investigated was the influence of the scanning speed of the laser source on the bonding properties. For this purpose, the steel surfaces were ablated at a scanning speed between 1500 and 4500 mm/s. Afterwards the components were bonded with the adhesive HexBond™ 677. After lap shear tests were carried out on the specimen, the surfaces were inspected using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The experiments revealed that the bonding quality can be improved with a high scanning speed, even when the surface is not completely ablated.}}, author = {{Voswinkel, Dietrich and Kloidt, D. and Grydin, Olexandr and Schaper, Mirko}}, issn = {{0944-6524}}, journal = {{Production Engineering}}, number = {{2}}, pages = {{263--270}}, title = {{{Time efficient laser modification of steel surfaces for advanced bonding in hybrid materials}}}, doi = {{10.1007/s11740-020-01006-2}}, volume = {{15}}, year = {{2021}}, } @article{24566, author = {{Engelkemeier, Katja and Sun, Aijia and Voswinkel, Dietrich and Grydin, Olexandr and Schaper, Mirko and Bremser, Wolfgang}}, issn = {{2196-0216}}, journal = {{ChemElectroChem}}, pages = {{2155--2168}}, publisher = {{Wiley}}, title = {{{Zinc Anodizing: Structural Diversity of Anodic Zinc Oxide Controlled by the Type of Electrolyte}}}, doi = {{10.1002/celc.202100216}}, year = {{2021}}, } @article{23897, author = {{Andreiev, Anatolii and Hoyer, Kay-Peter and Dula, Dimitri and Hengsbach, Florian and Grydin, Olexandr and Frolov, Yaroslav and Schaper, Mirko}}, issn = {{0921-5093}}, journal = {{Materials Science and Engineering: A}}, title = {{{Laser beam melting of functionally graded materials with application-adapted tailoring of magnetic and mechanical performance}}}, doi = {{10.1016/j.msea.2021.141662}}, year = {{2021}}, } @article{23911, author = {{Pramanik, Sudipta and Andreiev, Anatolii and Hoyer, Kay-Peter and Schaper, Mirko}}, issn = {{0142-1123}}, journal = {{International Journal of Fatigue}}, title = {{{Quasi in-situ analysis of fracture path during cyclic loading of double-edged U notched additively manufactured FeCo alloy}}}, doi = {{10.1016/j.ijfatigue.2021.106498}}, year = {{2021}}, } @article{24088, author = {{Pramanik, Sudipta and Tasche, Lennart and Hoyer, Kay-Peter and Schaper, Mirko}}, issn = {{2214-8604}}, journal = {{Additive Manufacturing}}, title = {{{Investigating the microstructure of an additively manufactured FeCo alloy: an electron microscopy study}}}, doi = {{10.1016/j.addma.2021.102087}}, year = {{2021}}, } @article{23803, author = {{Reitz, Alexander and Grydin, Olexandr and Schaper, Mirko}}, journal = {{Materials Data for Smart Forming Technologies}}, location = {{Freiberg}}, title = {{{Characterization of phase transformations during graded thermo- mechanical treatment of steel 22MnB5 by means of optical methods }}}, year = {{2021}}, } @article{37239, author = {{Wallmeier, Nadine}}, journal = {{Kreis Höxter Jahrbuch}}, pages = {{202--207}}, title = {{{Plattdeutsch im Kreis Höxter. Therefore, this review aims at untangling the research on domain-specific content knowledge for early childhood educators by systematically reviewing the conceptual and operational definition of and results on early childhood educators' content knowledge in different domains. Using the scientific databases ERIC, PsycInfo and Web of Sciences, we identified 36 studies on early childhood educators' domain-specific content knowledge. By comparing these studies, we found that conceptualizations of early childhood educators' content knowledge move on a continuum between a scientific related perspective and a practice related perspective. The scientific related perspective defines content knowledge as the knowledge of key concepts, facts and rules of the domain integrating knowledge taught in primary, secondary or upper secondary school. The practice related perspective includes knowledge of key concepts, facts and rules of the domain limited to the knowledge explicitly relevant for teaching in early childhood education as well as selected domain-specific knowledge of children and teaching. Our review shows that the results and implications drawn by the study authors depend on how these authors conceptualize early childhood educators' content knowledge on this continuum. Further research, therefore, needs to consider carefully how early childhood educators' content knowledge is conceptualized. The paper further discusses gaps in this research field, such as validating methods for measuring early childhood educators' content knowledge or implementing more rigorous experimental designs to examine effects of early childhood educators' content knowledge.}}, author = {{Bruns, Julia and Gasteiger, Hedwig and Strahl, Carolin}}, issn = {{2049-6613}}, journal = {{Review of Education}}, keywords = {{content knowledge, domain-specific learning, early childhood education, teacher knowledge}}, number = {{2}}, pages = {{500--538}}, publisher = {{Wiley}}, title = {{{Conceptualising and measuring domain-specific content knowledge of early childhood educators: A systematic review}}}, doi = {{10.1002/rev3.3255}}, volume = {{9}}, year = {{2021}}, } @article{45687, author = {{Bruns, Julia and Schopferer, T.}}, journal = {{.
