Frühe Bildungsdefizite ziehen sich u. U. durch die gesamte Bildungsbiographie, familiale Bildungsunterschiede können zur lebenslangen Bildungsbenachteiligung werden. Bildungsinstitutionen müssten ausgleichen, scheitern aber oft schon an der Kompetenz der pädagogisch Verantwortlichen. Dies gilt allgemein, aber auch für die zentralen Bereiche der literarischen Bildung und der Medienbildung. Das hier vorgestellte Interventions- und Forschungsprojekt umfasst die Vorbereitung auf den häufig als problematisch beschriebenen Übergang aus der Frühen Bildung in die Schule und legt das Augenmerk auf die Lese- und Medienkompetenz von Kindern ab 4 Jahren, nimmt aber auch das Medienhandeln der beteiligten Erzieherinnen, der Eltern und der Bildungsverantwortlichen auf der Ebene der Träger in den Blick. Es ist Beispiel eines lokalen Bildungsnetzwerkes mit Kooperationspartnern aus Stadt, Universität und Wirtschaft, die gemeinsame Educational Governance übernommen haben. Die Studie steht im Kontext eines Forschungsprogramms, das seit Jahren mediale und literarische Kompetenz auch vor dem Hintergrund einer normativen Orientierung für die Medienpraxis untersucht. Forschungstheoretisch steht dieses Forschungsprogramm in der Tradition der Action Research und ist als Prozess der reflexiven Einbindung aller Akteure konzipiert.
