  abstract     = {{We examine whether the mandated introduction of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is associated with the propensity to access the public rather than private debt market and the cost of debt. We use a global sample of public bonds and private loans and find that mandatory IFRS adopters are more likely, post-IFRS, to issue bonds than to borrow privately. We also find that mandatory IFRS adopters pay lower bond yield spreads, but not lower loan spreads, after the mandate. These findings are consistent with debt providers responding positively to financial reporting of higher quality and comparability, but only when there is a greater reliance on publicly available financial statements than private communication. Lastly, we document that the observed debt market benefits are concentrated in countries with larger differences between domestic GAAP and IFRS and are present even for EU countries that did not experience concurrent financial reporting enforcement or other institutional reforms. Overall, our study documents positive economic consequences around the mandated IFRS adoption for corporate debt financing and, in particular, for bond financing.}},

  abstract     = {{The state of the art industrial manufacturing process to produce shafts as counter surfaces for radial shaft seal rings is plunge grinding. This process consists of three major steps. The blank is turned to a slight diameter-oversize followed by the heat treatment and the hard-finishing by plunge grinding. The geometric surface structures of the resulting shafts in general exhibit a stochastic distribution. These surface characteristics contribute to a reliable and stable sealing functionality. And the surface and subsurface hardness generally leads to a higher wear resistance of the shaft. Motivated by economic benefits and in order to achieve a compact production process for at least ten years, turning is investigated as an alternative manufacturing process. However due to the resulting lead structure on the shaft surface and the associated risk of leakage it has not become prevalent yet. In this paper turned shafts of the metastable austenitic steel AISI 347 (1.4550, X6CrNiNb1810) are investigated as alternative material for counter surfaces of radial shaft seal rings and compared to turned shafts of carburized AISI 5115 (1.7131, 16MnCr5). In addition to surfaces dry turned at room-temperature, cryogenic turned AISI 347 counter surfaces are analyzed. By applying cryogenic cooling, the formation of deformation-induced α′-martensite in the surface layer is possible during the turning process. Endurance tests in radial shaft seal ring test rigs are performed and complemented with detailed investigations of microstructure, micro-hardness and surface topography. The results are compared to results of state of the art ground AISI 5115 shafts.}},

  abstract     = {{Schulisches Wohlbe nden ist als Indikator von Schulqualität vor allem für inklusive Schulen bedeutsam. Als mehrdimensionales Konstrukt wurde es bereits einschlägig operationalisiert (z. B. Hascher 2004), jedoch nicht in Bezug auf den Einsatz bei Schülerinnen und Schülern mit sonderpädagogischem Förderbedarf in inklusiven Schulen der Sekundarstufe I systematisch untersucht. In einem interdisziplinären Team wurde unter Bezug auf eingeführte Instrumente
ein Fragebogen entwickelt und bei einer Vollerhebung der Jahrgänge 6 bis 10 an der Laborschule Bielefeld, Versuchsschule des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen, eingesetzt (N = 292, davon N = 26 mit sonderpädagogischem Förderbedarf). Die beste Modellanpassung im Rahmen einer kon rmatorischen Faktorenanalyse zur Prüfung der Konstruktvalidität erreicht ein Modell mit sechs korrelierten Faktoren. Der Beitrag berichtet psychometrische Kennwerte der Skalen und weitere Ergebnisse, z. B. zur konvergenten Validität.}},

  abstract     = {{Este artículo concibe la ascendencia como un marcador controvertido de “lo británico” y de “lo alemán”. Tomando en consideración tanto la evolución de las leyes de nacionalidad como los datos empíricos del Programa Internacional de Encuestas Sociales (ISSP, 2003), se demuestra que la distinción “clásica” entre naciones cívicas y naciones étnicas tiende a sobrestimar las diferencias entre naciones, mientras que subestima las diferencias intra-nacionales. El hecho de que tanto en Inglaterra como en Alemania los niveles más altos de educación formal estén fuertemente asociados a nociones étnicamente más incluyentes de “legítima pertenencia nacional”, enfatiza el potencial de la educación formal en las sociedades multiculturales contemporáneas.}},
