TY - CONF AB - The individual search for information about physicians on Web 2.0 platforms can affect almost all aspects of our lives. People can directly access physician rating websites via web browsers or use any search engine to find physician reviews and ratings filtered by location resp. specialty. However, sometimes keyword search does not meet user needs because of the disagreement of users’ common terms queries for symptoms and the widespread medical terminology. In this paper, we present the prototype of a specialised search engine that overcomes this by indexing user-generated content (i.e., review texts) for physician discovery and provides automatic suggestions as well as an appropriate visualisation. On the one hand, we consider the available numeric physician ratings as sorting criterion for the ranking of query results. Furthermore, we extended existing ranking algorithms with respect to domain-specific types and physicians ratings on the other hand. We gathered more than 860,000 review texts and collected more than 213,000 physician records. A random test shows that about 19.7% of 5,100 different words in total are health- related and partly belong to consumer health vocabularies. Our evaluation results show that the query results fit user's particular health issues when seeking for physicians. So far, only the German physician rating website jameda.de gives information about the interconnectedness of HCPs in business networks. However, this network has to be maintained manually and is thus incomplete. We therefore developed a system for uncovering latent connectivity of HCPs in online reviews to provide users with more valuable information about their HCPs. The overall goal of this approach is to extend already existing business networks of HCPs by integrating connections that are newly discovered by our system. Our most recent evaluation results are promising: 70.8 % of the connections extracted from the reviews texts were correctly identified and in total 3,788 relations were recognized that have not been displayed in jameda.de’s network before. However, little is known about whether the reviews and ratings on these websites truly reflect the quality of services or whether the ratings on these websites are rather influenced by patients’ individual rating behavior. Therefore, we investigate more than 790,000 physician reviews on Germany’s most used physician rating website jameda.de. Our results show that patients’ ratings do not only reflect treatment quality but are also influenced by treatment quality independent factors like age and complaint behavior. Hence, we provide evidence that users should be well aware of user specific rating distortions when intending to make their physician choice based on these ratings. Large NL requirements specifications are prone to contain defects (e.g., contradictions), and the inherent ambiguity of NL impedes automatic techniques to support the requirements engineer. In order to cope with this problem, we conceived a requirements documentation approach implemented in the tool ReqPat. Nowadays, software engineers use component-based development approaches to develop their software. Moreover, software components have to be allocated to an ECU to be executed. Engineers have to cope with topology-, software-, and timing-dependencies and memory-, scheduling-, and routing-constraints. Currently, engineers use linear programs to specify allocation constraints and to derive a feasible allocation automatically. However, encoding the allocation problem as a linear program is a complex and error-prone task. This paper contributes a model-driven, OCL-based allocation engineering approach for reducing the engineering effort and to avoid failures. We validate our approach with an automotive case study modeled with MechatronicUML. Our validation shows that we can specify allocation constraints with less engineering effort and are able to derive feasible allocations automatically. Recent research in the public sector literature calls for a deeper understanding of how this specific public service motivation (PSM) is shaped. In our paper, we analyze how different degrees of inclusion in the public sector impact PSM. We also investigate how prospects of employment relations (fixed-term versus permanent contracts), temporal differences (part-time versus full-time employment), and actual jobs (core versus subsidiary jobs) moderate PSM in public service. Our findings show that aspects of PSM are affected by these employment characteristics in various ways, suggesting that the factors influencing PSM are multifaceted and that actual employment conditions have to be taken into consideration when assessing PSM. In a laboratory experiment we analyze the cooperation levels resulting from diverse teams, where some team members remain with a team and others are switching teams. Our results reveal that teams consisting partly of members with temporary membership display a lower productivity compared to teams of permanent team members only. First, temporary team members cooperate less than permanent team members. Second, individual effort decisions increase with the number of team mates who are of the same type. This second effect holds for both temps and permanents. We argue that social identity is affected by team composition and the individuals' role in a team. The considered flows are non-interactive because they do not explicitly target the end users. However, most of them must be performed on a timely basis and are associated with a deadline. We propose to schedule these flows by a centralized controller, which determines when to transmit each flow and which path to use. Two scheduling models are presented in this paper. In the first, the controller also determines the rate of each flow, while in the second bandwidth is assigned by the network according to the TCP rules. We develop scheduling algorithms for both models and compare their complexity and performance. AU - Cohen, R. In this problem the input consists of a set of users and a set of base stations. Each user has a list of requests, each consisting of a base station, a frequency demand, and a profit that may be gained by scheduling this request. The goal is to find a maximum profit set of user requests S that satisfies the following conditions: (i) S contains at most one request per user, (ii) the frequency sets allotted to requests in S that correspond to the same base station are pairwise non-intersecting, and (iii) the QoS received by any user at any frequency is reasonable according to an interference model. In this paper we consider two variants of bandwidth allocation with multiple interferences. In the first each request specifies a demand that can be satisfied by any subset of frequencies that is large enough. In the second each request specifies a specific frequency interval. Furthermore, we consider two interference models, multiplicative and additive. We show that these problems are extremely hard to approximate if the interferences depend on both the interfered and the interfering base stations. On the other hand, we provide constant factor approximation algorithms for both variants of bandwidth allocation with multiple interferences for the case where the interferences depend only on the interfering base stations. We also consider a restrictive special case that is closely related to the Knapsack problem. We show that this special case is NP-hard and that it admits an FPTAS. At the same time, following classic methods to increase speed and reduce energy consumption of these devices becomes increasingly difficult, bringing alternative methods into focus. One of these methods is approximate computing which utilizes the fact that small errors in computations are acceptable in many applications in order to allow acceleration of these computations or to increase energy efficiency. This thesis develops elements of a workflow that can be followed to apply approximate computing to existing applications. It proposes a novel heuristic approach to the localization of code paths that are suitable to approximate computing based on findings in recent research. Additionally, an approach to identification of approximable instructions within these code paths is proposed and used to implement simulation of approximation. The parts of the workflow are implemented with the goal to lay the foundation for a partly automated toolflow. Evaluation of the developed techniques shows that the proposed methods can help providing a convenient workflow, facilitating the first steps into the application of approximate computing. Our corpus is based on the entire revision history of Wikidata, the knowledge base underlying Wikipedia. Among Wikidata's 24 million manual revisions, we have identified more than 100,000 cases of vandalism. An in-depth corpus analysis lays the groundwork for research and development on automatic vandalism detection in public knowledge bases. Our analysis shows that 58% of the vandalism revisions can be found in the textual portions of Wikidata, and the remainder in structural content, e.g., subject-predicate-object triples. Moreover, we find that some vandals also target Wikidata content whose manipulation may impact content displayed on Wikipedia, revealing potential vulnerabilities. Given today's importance of knowledge bases for information systems, this shows that public knowledge bases must be used with caution. We introduce a new model for these problems such that a resource can be leased for K different durations each incurring a different cost (longer leases cost less per time unit). Each demand i can be served anytime between its arrival ai and its deadline ai+di by a leased resource. The objective is to meet all deadlines while minimizing the total leasing costs. This model is a natural generalization of Meyerson’s ParkingPermitProblem (FOCS 2005) in which di=0 for all i. We propose an online algorithm that is Θ(K+dmaxlmin)-competitive where dmax and lmin denote the largest di and the shortest available lease length, respectively. We also extend the SetCoverLeasing problem by deadlines and give a competitive online algorithm which also improves on existing solutions for the original SetCoverLeasing problem. Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE) coordinates these disciplines throughout the development by means of discipline-spanning processes and system models. Such a system model provides a common understanding of the system under development and serves as a starting point for the discipline-specific development. An integral part of MBSE is the requirements engineering on the system level. However, for the discipline-specific development to start, these requirements need to be refined, e.g., into specific requirements for the embedded software. Since existing MBSE approaches lack support for this refinement step, we conceived a systematic transition from MBSE to model-based software requirements engineering, which we present in this paper. We automated the steps of the transition where possible, in order to avoid error-prone and time-consuming manual tasks. We illustrate the approach with an example of an automotive embedded system. Thus, with all else being equal, levered firms are expected to show higher firm values. However, there are no uniform predictions of the size of this tax benefit from interest deductibility nor on the effect of changes in interest deductibility. We believe that the German corporate tax re-form in 2008, which introduced an interest barrier, can serve as a promising “quasi-experiment” to investigate the effects from a reform of interest deductibility. A study of this reform on the basis of German financial statement data is of general interest because, first, similar interest barriers have been introduced in several countries and proposed by the OECD to fight BEPS. Second, the major characteristics of the German tax system can be regarded as representative for most European and major Asian countries. Third, single entity financial statements for German companies allows us to capture tax and capital structure details that have not been available in most prior studies. With significance at the 5% level, we find evidence that the companies that are affected by the interest barrier reduce their leverage by 4.7 percentage points more than companies that are not affected by the interest barrier. We are the first to employ a detailed matching approach to the underlying rich dataset, which enables us to overcome several limitations of previous studies. Our results imply that capital structure reactions most likely have been underestimated in previous studies.
