Based on social systems theory, this grounded-theory study observes how groups in two extracurricular music classes construct different technologies (e. g., iPads, mixers, ear phones) within the emergence of (reflexive) expectations as social structures. The results reveal five categories of technologies: technology as an instrument-toy-alternator that supports motivation, as a medium for knowledge and learning, as an adjusting device used for socio-aesthetic decision making, as a didactical tool for task-based situations, and as an isolator for inner differentiation by focusing aural perception. Ausgehend von ihrem Begriff der Pluralität schlage ich vor, Hannah Arendts Konzept des politischen Urteilens innerhalb dieses Problemfeldes praktisch umzusetzen. Sie selbst bietet dafür eine Art Anleitung, indem sie ihre Essays als ‚Übungen im politischen Denken‘ darstellt. Ich beziehe mich dabei auf eine der zahlreichen Herausforderungen, vor denen uns die Pluralität der Welt stellt: Die Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten des menschlichen Zusammenlebens in einer sich von Migration verändernden Gemeinschaft. Yet, there has not been much research on the materiality of music pedagogical practices. But the distinction between collaboration and cooperation is mostly unclear. This article aims to distinguish both concepts by presenting a study on popular music learning in groups (Godau, 2017) based on elements of the learning approach in Musical Futures (Green, 2008). As a result, the two concepts are seen as complementary. They form the poles of a continuum of collective learning: Collaboration characterizes the collective action toward the common goal. The system analysis is complemented by transistor-level design and simulation of harvesting circuits in a commercial 65 nm CMOS technology. A differential drive rectifier (DDR) has been selected as the most efficient harvesting topology for microwave frequency applications, which works at very low input power levels. The circuit was designed and simulated including chip layout parasitics and antenna matching circuitry. Over the last few years, a large number of instructional videos has been uploaded to websites such as YouTube. Due to the widespread distribution of high-speed internet connections and (mobile) devices, such as smartphones or laptops, which are nowadays routinely used by students, online videos are also frequently used in higher education. While much research on this subject focuses on Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) or flipped classroom approaches, this survey examines use of videos for self-study, complementary to traditional face-to-face courses. Furthermore, we analyze the acceptance of a characteristic video production style, which uses specific 3D animations to clarify complex connections between technical and mathematical aspects. The results indicate extensive use of short videos which address subjects that are particularly difficult for the students. This survey can help educators to develop an impression of current video use by undergraduate engineering students.
