  text: "<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title>\r\n               <jats:p>Astrophysical
    topics can be treated with the methods of different areas of physics, mathematics
    and other natural sciences. The integration of these topics into such areas could
    improve students’ motivation and strengthen the connections between different
    fields of the mentioned sciences. In this article, an example of the connection
    between the physics of the stars and that of their statistical distributions is
    given. The usage of Microsoft Excel simplifies the mathematical requirements and
    gives the possibility of seeing the changes of distribution with the growing age
    of the regarded population of stars. The changes are a direct consequence to the
    limited lifetime of the stars and the limited age of the considered population
    of stars.</jats:p>"

  text: Einsätze mit adipösen Personen stellen die Feuerwehr und den Rettungsdienst
    vor vielfältige Herausforderungen, da Rettung und Transport für die Einsatzkräfte
    eine logistische Hürde mit Mehraufwand und Risiken darstellen. Der Autor untersucht
    die Besonderheiten bei bestimmten Einsatzszenarien; angefangen bei der Trageunterstützung
    für den Rettungsdienst über den Verkehrsunfall mit eingeklemmter adipöser Person
    bis hin zum Brandeinsatz mit schwergewichtigen Menschen. Mögliche Einsätze werden
    abgegrenzt und etwaige Besonderheiten im Vergleich zu den üblichen "Standardeinsätzen"
    diskutiert. Einblicke in rettungsdienstliche Aspekte bei Einsätzen mit adipösen
    Patientinnen und Patienten vervollständigen das Buch.

  text: <jats:p>The use of video analysis in Design-Based Research (DBR) seems to
    be promising, because the quality of video data matches the reality of educational
    fields. Educational fields are multidimensional and complex. And more than other
    types of data, video may capture, for example, the simultaneity of verbal and
    non-verbal interactions. This seems to be valuable in the quest for new insights
    and better designs of educational interventions. However, to date there has been
    limited use of video data in researching their design. This paper aims at reflecting
    how the benefits of video-based analysis may be utilised in DBR. Experiences with
    the collection and analysis of video data in a project to design self-organised
    learning (SOL) at a vocational school in Germany will be used as a case study
    to illustrate the type of findings that may feed into the DBR process. In this
    case, the project school had already introduced a sophisticated SOL model but
    was experiencing various implementation difficulties. Resolving issues like this
    requires insights into how exactly a concept is realised and what happens in the
    field. Therefore, video data on classroom interactions was gathered and sub-sequently
    analysed using the documentary method. This led to the reconstruction of two different
    types of orientation that were guiding the students when they dealt with their
    self-organised learning environment. In a subversive orientation, students playfully
    infiltrate the formal learning space with peer activities. In a confirming orientation,
    students stick to both, the (informal) rules of the (formal) learning arrangement
    and of the peer environment, thus expressing respect for the boundary between
    these two worlds. These findings have been used to redesign the SOL intervention.</jats:p>

  text: "\r\nBerufskollegs in Nordrhein-Westfalen sehen sich in den letzten Jahren
    weitreichenden strukturellen Veränderungen gegenüber. Der Übergang in eigenverantwortliche
    Schulen verändert die Anforderungen an Leitungs- und Entwicklungsstrukturen der
    Berufskollegs nachhaltig. Insbesondere organisationale und personelle Steuerungsaufgaben
    und -spielräume der Schulleitung sind hier zu nennen. Die Schulleitungsebene wird
    als zentraler 'Schulentwicklungsmotor' hervorgehoben und betont, dass es hier
    als Unterstützung weiterer Führungsebenen bedarf, um die komplexen Strukturen
    zu bewältigen.\r\nPositionen mit Verantwortlichkeiten im Sinne einer Führung ohne
    Weisungsbefugnis wurden hierfür weiter ausgebaut. Unter Begriffen wie Bildungsgangkoordination,
    Bildungsgangleitung oder betreuung ist die so entstandene 'mittlere Führungsebene'
    insbesondere dadurch zu kennzeichnen, dass ihr Verantwortung für Teilbereiche
    in den Berufskollegs ebenso zukommt, wie eine aktive Beteiligung in der Bildungsgang-
    und Unterrichtsarbeit. Mit diesem Spannungsfeld von strategischen und operativen
    Handlungsfeldern und Erwartungen gehen automatisch entscheidende Rollenfindungsprozesse
    der Beteiligten einher. Hier fehlen zum einen entsprechende bedarfsgerechte Angebote
    zur Prozessbegleitung und Rollenschärfung und zum anderen eine diesbezügliche
    dezidierte wissenschaftliche Aufarbeitung.\r\nDie vorliegende Arbeit nimmt sich
    beiden Bedarfen an. So wurde einerseits ein kollegiales Weiterbildungsformat konzipiert
    und durchgeführt und dieser Rahmen andererseits genutzt, um im Sinne eines gestaltungsorientierten
    Forschungsprojektes das Konstrukt der Rollenschärfung auch wissenschaftlich vertiefend
    zu beleuchten. Unter Würdigung eines qualitativen Forschungsansatzes und dem Anspruch
    einer grundlegenden Triangulation wurden hierzu umfassende Datenerhebungen durchgeführt,
    die so erhobenen Daten mittels qualitativer Inhaltsanalyse ausgewertet und auf
    diese Weise umfassende Einblicke in das dahinterliegende Konstrukt der Rollenschärfung
    ermöglicht.\r\nDurch ihre Rahmung, Zielgruppe und Ausrichtung weist die so skizzierte
    Forschungs- und Entwicklungsarbeit eine Orientierung sowohl in die Wirtschaftspädagogik
    als auch in die Erwachsenenbildung auf. Sie kann als ein Beispiel für eine Wissenschaft-Praxis-Kooperation
    ebenso herangezogen werden wie als Reflexionshilfe in Weiterbildungskontexten
    und Auswahlprozessen sowohl von zukünftigen Führungskräften als auch von Weiterbildungspersonal."

  text: Historically, the field of financial forecasting almost exclusively relied
    on so-called hard information – i.e., numerical data with well-defined and unambiguous
    meaning. Over the last few decades, however, researchers and practitioners alike
    have, following the advances in natural language understanding, started recognizing
    the benefits of integrating soft information into financial modelling. In line
    with the above, this paper examines whether contemporary attention-based sequence-to-sequence
    models, known as Transformers, can help improve stock return volatility prediction
    when applied to corporate annual reports. Using a publicly available benchmark
    dataset, we show, in an empirical analysis, that out-of-the-box Transformer models
    have the ability to outmatch current state-of-the-art results and, more importantly,
    that our proposed feature-based Transformer approach can outperform a robust numerical
    baseline. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first empirical study focusing
    on stock return volatility prediction (1) to ever experiment with state-of-the-art
    Transformer architectures and (2) to demonstrate that a model based solely on
    soft information can surpass its numerical counterpart. Furthermore, we show that
    by including an additional numerical feature into our best text-only model, we
    can push the performance of our model even further, suggesting that soft and hard
    information contain different predictive signals.
