  abstract     = {{Models of Circular Economy introduce circularity strategies like reuse, repair or remanufacture. A significant level of complexity is added when these strategies are applied not only on integrated product level, but on lower levels of assemblies and parts. Therefore, approaches, like Design for Assembly, Disassembly and Reassembly (DfADR) become increasingly important including the consideration of ADR capabilities. To put DfADR into practice, it is necessary to structure ADR-related product data and make it usable for product engineers. For instance, assemblies resulting from disassembly might not be consistent with original assembly structures. Therefore, a Product Meta Data Model (MDM) is required to handle assembly-related data even when it has extreme characteristics. A literature review on related MDMs reveals a range of models for general product data and identifies a gap in consideration of assembly-related data. In an expert workshop, requirements are raised to evaluate existing models and develop ADR-related extensions. The MDM is conceptually modelled and validated by competence questions. The paper presents an approach that makes assembly-related data usable for hybrid decision support and enables engineers to think ahead of ADR processes.}},

  abstract     = {{Manufacturers operate under dynamic regulatory conditions, leading to frequently changing requirements that must be managed with high effort. AI-based requirements extraction using Large Language Models (LLMs) has the potential to support engineers in this task by analyzing large documents, for example. Existing evaluation approaches in AI-supported requirements engineering mainly assess individual requirements and their consistency with source documents, while quality criteria of requirements sets are largely neglected. This paper presents a five-step approach to evaluate the performance of current LLMs in generating requirements sets: a systematic literature review to identify quality criteria of requirements sets (1), exemplary generation of requirements sets from the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC using LLMs (2), examination (3), evaluation (4) and comparison (5) of the generated requirements sets. The results support engineers in selecting LLMs for creating requirement sets and in evaluating future LLMs.}},

  abstract     = {{The sliding square model is a widely used abstraction for studying self-reconfigurable robotic systems, where modules are square-shaped robots that move by sliding or rotating over one another. In this paper, we propose a novel distributed algorithm that enables a group of modules to reconfigure into a rhombus shape, starting from an arbitrary side-connected configuration. It is connectivity-preserving and operates under minimal assumptions: one leader module, common chirality, constant memory per module, and visibility and communication restricted to immediate neighbors. Unlike prior work, which relaxes the original sliding square move-set, our approach uses the unmodified move-set, addressing the additional challenge of handling locked configurations. Our algorithm is sequential in nature and operates with a worst-case time complexity of O(n^2) rounds, which is optimal for sequential algorithms. To improve runtime, we introduce two parallel variants of the algorithm. Both rely on a spanning tree data structure, allowing modules to make decisions based on local connectivity. Our experimental results show a significant speedup for the first variant, and a linear average runtime for the second variant, which is worst-case optimal for parallel algorithms.}},

  abstract     = {{We examine the relation between voluntary audit and the cost of debt in private firms. We use a sample of 7420 small private firms operating in the period 2006-2022 that are not subject to mandatory audits. Firms self-select into voluntary audits because of the economic setting (e.g., ownership complexity, export, subsidiary status) or because firm fundamentals limit their access to financial debt. In the outcome analyses, we find that voluntary audits result in higher, rather than lower, interest rates with increases ranging from approximately 1.7 percentage points, but going higher depending on the exact specification. This effect is present regardless of the perceived audit quality (Big-4 vs. non-Big-4), consistent across auditor types. Audited firms’ earnings are less informative about future operating performance. Voluntary audits facilitate access to financial debt for high-risk firms. The price paid is reflected in higher interest rates for voluntary audits – firms with higher information/fundamental risk.}},

  abstract     = {{We investigate the role of stakeholders in the CSR reporting of non-listed savings banks in Germany. They are established by municipal trustees and serve clients in their distinct operating area. Reporting discretion under the Non-Financial Reporting Directive may lead to variation in CSR reporting due to differences in sustainability interests of banks’ stakeholders and CSR governance (e.g. existence of a CSR manager). We document that the CSR reports and specific CSR dimensions are intensely associated with the existence of strong CSR governance and to a lesser extent with the interests of municipal trustees and bank clients. However, the associations with these stakeholders are predominantly present in banks with strong CSR governance. Our findings inform policy discussions about detailed CSR disclosure requirements (e.g. the European Sustainability Reporting Standards) and extension of reporting scope to firms with regional orientation and absence of typical shareholders.}},

                  <jats:p>Investigating the real-time interplay between language and vision has traditionally involved a trade-off between experimental control and interactive setups. To address this challenge, we present a methodological framework that embeds the visual world paradigm (VWP) within a continuous, goal-directed human–robot interaction (HRI) task. By augmenting VWP in an HRI setup to produce standardized yet responsive verbal and non-verbal behaviours, the framework makes it possible to selectively examine comprehension, production, actions and their relation to visual attention in real-time. We demonstrate the utility of the framework through a proof-of-concept manipulating action structure, specifically path and manner, as well as other-initiated repair formats, namely open and restricted requests. The findings show that the setup reliably captures time-locked referential gaze dynamics following comprehension and preceding production processes. They further indicate that differences in action history systematically influence speakers’ pre-verbal cognitive processes and their subsequent linguistic choices. These findings suggest that HRI can provide a useful methodological middle ground to investigate language processes online in a tightly controlled setup without disrupting the interaction. More broadly, the framework offers a test bed for examining whether established psycholinguistic findings extend to HRI setups. At the same time, it provides HRI researchers with an empirical basis for developing adaptive agents informed by online language-vision interaction theories.</jats:p>}},

Even more, depending on the goal, users could be dynamically but minimalistically supported in their autonomous actions.   abstract     = {{Taking pupils’ diverse needs into account is considered a central requirement of inclusive education (Booth & Ainscow, 2016). These needs are—according to Ainscow’s (2007) inclusive turn—not primarily ‘special educational needs’, but diverse needs of all learners. For the rather segregated German educational system, this endeavour applies especially to primary education, where needs are still developing and pupils are not yet assigned to different types of schooling according to their needs and abilities.

Despite a substantial amount of research on pupils’ basic psychological needs for autonomy, competence and social relatedness (Ryan et al., 2022), strategies that technology education teachers apply in this regard are not yet well understood. Besides interventional studies on technology education, indicating effectiveness of self‑directed and action‑oriented teaching and learning, there is a dearth of research on how teachers address different needs as a routine.

The purpose of the presented study is therefore to investigate and systematize actions and strategies teachers apply, and to specify how pupils' needs are considered when teaching technology education on a given topic.

The overall study used a mixed-methods approach to the question how pupils’ needs are characterized by themselves and by their teachers, and how they were taken into account in a lesson adapted and delivered by the teachers. In the sub-study presented here, participating primary school teachers were interviewed about their consideration of pupils’ needs whilst planning and conducting a technology education unit on the functionality of robots.

The results gained from qualitative content analysis of the interviews indicate that although the anticipation of different needs is considered challenging, teachers possess a substantiate amount of practices and strategies to take them into account.

The paper systematizes the practices teachers described in structured interviews within strategies and discusses the contribution of taking basic needs into account for inclusive technology education.}},

                    DNA origami nanostructures (DONs) have promising applications in biomedicine and biosensing, which often require their efficient binding to target cells. By immobilizing the glycopeptide antibiotic vancomycin on DONs, DON binding to Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria can be facilitated. Here, we investigate how this multivalent binding is affected by the number and arrangement of the vancomycin modifications on two‐dimensional DONs. We find that for both Gram‐positive
                    <jats:italic>Bacillus subtilis</jats:italic>
                    and Gram‐negative
                    <jats:italic>Escherichia coli</jats:italic>
                    , binding increases with the number of vancomycin modifications per DON. In general, binding to
                    <jats:italic>E. coli</jats:italic>
                    is stronger than to
                    <jats:italic>B. subtilis</jats:italic>
                    , which may be attributed to differences in the architectures of the cell envelopes. Interestingly, for both bacteria, the total number of vancomycin modifications appears to be more important than their arrangement, as DONs with 18 vancomycin molecules on one side show similar binding as DONs with 18 vancomycin molecules distributed over both sides. This enables the attachment of multiple probe molecules to the vancomycin‐free side of the DONs for enhancing detection efficiency without compromising binding affinity. These results may thus provide guidelines for the design and synthesis of vancomycin‐modified DONs for antimicrobial drug delivery and pathogen detection.
