text: "Abstract\r\n The present study
explored the role of first-year physics students’ sense of belonging to physics
and how it relates to their learning progression in higher education-level physics.
Conducted at Paderborn University, this study examined how students’ sense of
belonging to physics influences their academic outcomes in an introductory experimental
physics course. Additionally, we investigated how physics students’ engagement
in the Physiktreff—a holistic support program for first-year physics students
to help them cope with academic and social challenges during their studies—impacts
the development of their sense of belonging to physics over time. Our findings
indicated that students with a stronger sense of belonging to physics performed
better academically. Moreover, students who actively participated in the support
program experienced a positive shift in their sense of belonging to physics. However,
our findings also revealed that physics students with a higher initial sense of
belonging to physics tended to experience a decline in their sense of belonging
to physics during their first semester. These results underscore the importance
of fostering a sense of belonging to physics within higher education, particularly
during the introductory phase of students’ studies.

text: Stets haben menschliche Gemeinschaften versucht, dem nahenden, sichvollziehenden
sowie geschehenen Tod zu begegnen und dabei kommunikativePraktiken ausgebildet,
die für die Zwecke der Todes- und Trauerverarbeitung zumEinsatz kommen. Die Erfassung
und Reflexion dieser Praktiken ist Thema diesesBeitrags, in dem die extremen kommunikativen
Ränder des sprachlichen Erfassensvon Tod sowie des performativen Vollziehens von
Trauer während der Shoa reflek-tiert werden sollen. Als Grundlage dienen textuelle
Kommunikate des Gettos Litz-mannstadt der Jahre 1941 bis 1944. Gefragt werden
soll nach Mustern des Anzeigensvon Tod, Musteranschlüssen anhand von Personifikationen
und Metaphorisierun-gen des Todes und nach Musterabbrüchen als Formen des Nicht-(Mehr)-Ausdrücken-Könnens.

text: Ausgehend von der Konzeptualisierung der Shoa als kommunikativem Extremfall
erweist sich nicht nur das erzwungene Schweigen jüdischer Shoa-Opfer und -Überlebender
als so konstitutiv wie herausforderungsvoll, sondern ebenso das täterseitige Schweigen,
als z.B. ein Die-eigene-Schuld-ignorieren-Wollen. Aber ebenso irritierend anmutende
Formen des Schweigens indirekt zustimmender oder zumindest wegsehender Mitglieder
der Integrierten Gesellschaft während und nach dem ‚Dritten Reich‘ sind in ihrer
ethisch-normativen Eingebundenheit problematisch und zugleich bedenkenswert. So
herausgehoben wie auffällig erscheint aus dieser Akteursgruppe der deutsche Philosoph
Martin Heidegger, hätte dieser doch bis zu seinem Tod 1976 durchaus Gelegenheit
gehabt, sich zum Zivilisationsbruch der Shoa zu äußern. Doch hat er, zumindest
öffentlich, stets dazu geschwiegen. Dieses Schweigen soll im Rahmen dieses Beitrages
hinsichtlich seines invektiven Potentials und in Bezug zu Heideggers eigenen (philosophischen)

linguistischen Aufarbeitung des Kommunikationsverhaltens Heideggers, der Ausdifferenzierung
einer diskurslinguistischen Invektivitätsforschung und der Analyse des Kommunikationsphänomens
‚Schweigen‘ beitragen.

text: Abstract. The assessment of mechanically joined connections, such
as clinched connections, is usually conducted destructively. Applicable non-destructive
testing methods like computed tomography are time-consuming and costly, or, like
electrical resistance measurement, provide only a limited amount of information.
A fast, non-destructive evaluation of the joints condition shall be made possible
by using transient dynamic analysis (TDA). It is based on the introduction of
sound waves and the evaluation of the response behavior after passing through
the structure. This study focuses the application of TDA to clinched shear connections
to evaluate the performance of the tactile measuring setup. Twenty-one series
were investigated, covering variations in joining task, manufacturing and defect.
The evaluation was carried out using machine learning to determine for which series
characteristic signals may be detected. It was shown that a classification of
the investigated specimens is possible, whereby the classification accuracy depends
on the examined variation. Furthermore, the accuracy was evaluated as a function
of frequency and results were concluded to identify the limits of the used measuring
setup.

text: The use of organo-catalysis in continuous-flow reactor systems is
gaining attention in medicinal chemistry due to its cost-effectiveness and reduced
chemical waste. In this study, bioactive curcumin (CUM) derivatives were synthesized
in a continuously operated microfluidic reactor (MFR), using piperidine-based
polymeric networks as catalysts. Piperidine methacrylate and piperidine acrylate
were synthesized and subsequently copolymerized with complementary monomers (MMA
or DMAA) and crosslinkers (EGDMA or MBAM) via photopolymerization, yielding different
polymeric networks. Initially, batch reactions were optimized for the organo-catalytic
Knoevenagel condensation between CUM and 4-nitrobenzaldehyde, under various conditions,
in the presence of polymer networks. Conversion was assessed using offline 1H
NMR spectroscopy, revealing an increase in conversion with enhanced swelling properties
of the polymer networks, which facilitated greater accessibility of catalytic
sites. In continuous-flow MFR experiments, optimized polymer gel dots exhibited
superior catalytic performance, achieving a conversion of up to 72%, compared
to other compositions. This improvement was attributed to the enhanced swelling
in the reaction mixture (DMSO/methanol, 7:3 v/v) at 40 °C over 72 h. Furthermore,
the MFR system enabled the efficient synthesis of a series of CUM derivatives,
demonstrating significantly higher conversion rates than traditional batch reactions.
Notably, while batch reactions required 90% catalyst loading in the gel, the MFR
system achieved a comparable or superior performance with only 50% catalyst, resulting
in a higher turnover number. These findings underscore the advantages of continuous-flow
organo-catalysis in enhancing catalytic efficiency and sustainability in organic
synthesis.

text: AbstractTo minimize or avoid the use of antibiotics,
antimicrobial polymers have emerged as a promising option to fight biomaterial‐associated
infections, e.g., on titanium‐based implants. However, the challenge is to develop
active polymers that exhibit an antimicrobial effect and are compatible with human
cells. Different studies aiming for biocidal polymers active in soluble mode,
focused on the ratio of cationic to hydrophobic groups, while only marginal knowledge
is available for immobilized components. Here a strong hydrophilic electrolyte
4‐vinylbenzyltrimethylammonium chloride (TMA) is chosen as the cationic component.
The block composition of the polycationic segment is modified with styrene (Sty)
regarding the amphiphilic balance. To adsorb such polymers onto titanium surfaces
they are equipped with a polyphosphonic acid anchor block by sequential reversible‐addition‐fragmentation
chain‐transfer polymerization (RAFT) polymerization. The polymer composition affected
the wetting behavior of adsorbed coatings with water contact angles ranging from
17° to 72°, while zetapotential measurements confirmed high extent of positive
charges for all adsorbed polymer coatings. The fundamentally modified block composition
resulted in significantly improved cytocompatibility. Antimicrobial efficacy in
early bacterial adhesion is still retained from slightly antiadhesive coatings
to combined antiadhesive/biocidal activity depending on Sty/TMA ratio in random
polymers while a block copolymer revealed lowest antimicrobial effect.
