  abstract     = {{<jats:p>In-situ computed tomography (CT) experiments on materials with time-dependent mechanical behaviour are affected by relaxationinduced motion, which can lead to image blur and motion-related artefacts if scans are initiated before relaxation-induced motion has subsided. Scan start times are therefore commonly defined based on force relaxation or force-gradient criteria, although these signals do not directly quantify image-relevant specimen motion. In this work, a radiography-based approach is presented to estimate relaxation-induced motion via pixel shifts from projection images acquired prior to CT scans. These projection-based pixel shift estimates of relaxation-induced motion are related to scan-specific image blur observed in the reconstructed volumes. Thereby, a direct link between specimen motion during the scan and CT image quality is established. The method is demonstrated for thermo-mechanically loaded specimens with pronounced temperature-dependent material behaviour, where relaxation-induced motion persists over extended time scales. The results show that projection-based pixel shift estimation provides a physically meaningful and experimentally accessible basis for defining scan start criteria. CT acquisition can be initiated based on an allowable level of relaxation-induced motion, rather than waiting for mechanical equilibrium to be reached. The proposed approach therefore offers a direct, image-related framework for scan timing in in-situ CT experiments on time-dependent materials.</jats:p>}},

  abstract     = {{<jats:p>The mechanical joining of continuous fiber-reinforced thermoplastics (cFRTP) and metal sheets represents a promising approach for manufacturing hybrid lightweight structures. To reduce the time and cost associated with extensive experimental investigations, numerical modeling strategies are increasingly applied. In this numerical study, a further step in the modelling strategy for the direct pin-pressing (DPP) process of cFRTP and metal sheets is presented. The study focuses on modeling and simulating the occurring deformation mechanisms of decomposition, compaction, and separation of individual rovings on the mesoscale to analyze the resulting material structure. For this purpose, two simplified models were derived. The textile architecture is represented based on micrographs of cross-sections and discretized using the finite element method. The deformation of individual rovings during joining leads to a deformation of their initial elliptical cross section. To capture this level of resolution, both a cohesive zone and a pure contact approach are applied within the rovings. The highly viscous thermoplastic melt is modeled as a fluid employing the Arbitrary Lagrange–Eulerian (ALE) method. Matrix and roving meshes are coupled to account for fluid–structure interaction (FSI) during process. The study shows that coupling of matrix and rovings is necessary to obtain more accurate predictions of the deformation behaviour. Furthermore, the cohesive zone approach is better suited to simulate the emerging deformation mechanisms.</jats:p>}},

  abstract     = {{Grocery retailers frequently apply price discounts to stimulate demand for expiring perishables. However, integrating these discounted sales into future demand forecasts presents a significant challenge. This study investigates the effectiveness of incorporating a fixed share of these sales as \textit{regular} demand into the forecast, as commonly applied in practice. We employ a two-step regression approach on data from a major European grocery retailer, covering over 1,700 products across 676 stores. We reveal that forecasts underestimate actual demand for most SKUs when discounted sales occur. This residual uplift effect is significantly influenced by the number of sales at reduced prices. Our findings underscore the necessity for more precise approaches to integrate discounted sales into demand forecasts, thereby preventing excess inventory and the associated economic and environmental impacts of spoilage in the grocery sector.}},

  abstract     = {{The metal-organic framework CPO-27 exhibits free coordination sites (open metal sites) and can be prepared with a wide range of metals that influence its properties. It is therefore an intriguing structure to study sorption phenomena. We analyze the water resistance and sorption behavior of these frameworks, with particular attention to the sorption mechanism in detail and the structure of the confined water molecules. For this purpose, we use manometric water vapor sorption analysis and FTIR spectroscopy. The respective metal center orchestrates both the adsorption behavior and the arrangement of the water molecules in the micropores of the framework. The extent to which water molecules form hydrogen bonds (with each other and with framework oxygen atoms) plays a crucial role in the stability of the framework towards water. Water adsorption is governed by the coordination of water molecules to the open metal sites (except for CPO-27-Cu) and subsequent H-bonding. A stepwise adsorption of water is observed, with significant differences depending on the choice of metal.}},

  abstract     = {{<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>In this symposium we investigate students’ agency of selecting and using (digital) resources for developing their own learning paths. For that, we first review the literature related to students’ selection and use of resources in mathematics education in different pedagogical settings (presentation 1). Second, we develop insights from the different studies that participate in this symposium (presentation 2–6), at school as well as at university level. Results show that attempts have been made to provide students opportunities to develop agency of their mathematics learning, in particular with the development and provision of numerous digital tools and learning resources at university level and related to innovative pedagogical approaches. At the same time, it is not obvious how these tools and resources help students to develop deeper conceptual understandings. Certainly, students often ‘demand’ more student-centered and autonomous education approaches (e.g., at university level), also in mathematics education. Further, it seems that authentic problem-based education approaches are more motivating for students. These ‘innovative’ approaches necessitate particular types of structure and support for students. Moreover, they require different ways of providing resources that students can and want to interact with, and that help students to navigate through the curriculum to develop their own learning paths. At the same time, teachers also need support on how to orchestrate student learning with the available resources in such environments, so to be able to attend to students’ individual needs.
