In the numerical simulation of mechanical joining technologies such as clinching, the material modeling of the joining parts is of major importance. This includes modeling the damage and failure behavior of the materials in accordance with varying occurring stress states. This paper presents a calibration method of three different fracture models. The calibration of the models is done by use of experimental data from a modified punch test, tensile test and bulge test in order to map the occurring stress states from clinching processes and to precisely model the resulting failure behavior. Experimental investigations were carried out for an aluminum alloy EN AW-6014 in temper T4 and compared with the simulative results generated in LS-DYNA. The comparison of force-displacement curves and failure initiation shows that the Hosford–Coulomb model predicts the failure behavior for the material used and the tests applied with the best accuracy. }}, author = {{Böhnke, Max and Bielak, Christian Roman and Friedlein, Johannes and Bobbert, Mathias and Mergheim, Julia and Steinmann, Paul and Meschut, Gerson}}, booktitle = {{Materials Research Proceedings}}, issn = {{2474-395X}}, publisher = {{Materials Research Forum LLC}}, title = {{{A calibration method for failure modeling in clinching process simulations}}}, doi = {{10.21741/9781644902417-34}}, year = {{2023}}, } @article{49636, abstract = {{Abstract Purpose Wearables serve to quantify the on-court activity in intermittent sports such as field hockey (FH). Based on objective data, benchmarks can be determined to tailor training intensity and volume. Next to average and accumulated values, the most intense periods (MIPs) during competitive FH matches are of special interest, since these quantify the peak intensities players experience throughout the intermittent matches. The aim of this study was to retrospectively compare peak intensities between training and competition sessions in a male FH team competing in the first german division. Methods Throughout an 8-week in-season period, 372 individual activity datasets (144 datasets from competitive sessions) were recorded using the Polar Team Pro sensor (Kempele, Finland). MIPs were calculated applying a rolling window approach with predefined window length (1–5 min) and calculated for Total distance, High-Intensity-Running distance (> 16 km/h), Sprinting distance (> 20 km/h) and Acceleration load. Significant differences between training and competition MIPs were analysed through non-parametric statistical tests (P < 0.05). Results Analyses revealed higher MIPs during competition for all considered outcomes (P < 0.001). Effect size estimation revealed strongest effects for sprinting distance (d = 1.89 to d = 1.22) and lowest effect sizes for acceleration load (d = 0.92 to d = 0.49). Conclusion The present findings demonstrate that peak intensities during training do not reach those experienced during competitive sessions in a male FH team. Training routines such as manipulations of court-dimensions and team sizes might contribute to this discrepancy. Coaches should compare training and competition intensities to recalibrate training routines to optimize athletes’ preparation for competition. }}, author = {{Büchel, Daniel and Döring, Michael and Baumeister, Jochen}}, issn = {{2096-6709}}, journal = {{Journal of Science in Sport and Exercise}}, keywords = {{Nutrition and Dietetics, Rehabilitation, Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation, Physiology}}, publisher = {{Springer Science and Business Media LLC}}, title = {{{A Comparison of the Most Intense Periods (MIPs) During Competitive Matches and Training Over an 8-Week Period in a Male Elite Field Hockey Team}}}, doi = {{10.1007/s42978-023-00261-w}}, year = {{2023}}, } @unpublished{43439, abstract = {{This preprint makes the claim of having computed the $9^{th}$ Dedekind Number. The second dynamic variable is the number of investors who believe that asset prices are abnormally high. In a phase plane analysis, I find both stable and unstable equilibria, depending on the spread of information and the response to other agents’ beliefs. If individuals try to increase their returns while perceiving more overpricing, these equilibria can be spirals or even approach limit cycles. Although I intend to study general price patterns, abnormally high asset prices can be caused by financial bubbles. In this model, bubbles can emerge and deflate both in cycles or directly, or they can grow until they burst. Further, I analyze market behavior after a central bank increases the interest rate. In machine learning approaches based on linear models, it is well known that there exists a connecting path between the sparsest solution in terms of the $\ell^1$ norm,i.e., zero weights and the non-regularized solution, which is called the regularization path. Very recently, there was a first attempt to extend the concept of regularization paths to DNNs by means of treating the empirical loss and sparsity ($\ell^1$ norm) as two conflicting criteria and solving the resulting multiobjective optimization problem. However, due to the non-smoothness of the $\ell^1$ norm and the high number of parameters, this approach is not very efficient from a computational perspective. To overcome this limitation, we present an algorithm that allows for the approximation of the entire Pareto front for the above-mentioned objectives in a very efficient manner. In contrast, this paper argues that what is true for users is also valid for algorithmic processes and the designers behind. On the one hand, the algorithm imagines users’ future behavior via machine learning, which is supposed to predict all their future actions. On the other hand, the designers anticipate different actions that could potentially performed by users with every new implementation of features such as social media feeds. In order to bring into view this permanently reciprocal interplay coupled to the imaginary, in which not only the users are involved, I will argue for a more comprehensive and theoretically precise algorithmic imaginary referring to the theory of Cornelius Castoriadis. The formulation of these closures is derived from two fluid-dynamic analogies for the film and froth flow patterns. The adjustable parameters in the closures are regressed for the film flow using dry pressure drop measurements and liquid hold-up data in trickle flow conditions. For the froth flow, the tuning parameters are fitted to overall pressure drop measurements and local liquid hold-up data acquired from ultra-fast X-ray tomography (UFXCT). Coupling the chemistries of flame, solvent, and gas-phase species initially formed from the particle precursor in combination with the complex flow geometry of the spray flame means a special challenge for the modeling of the reaction processes. A new burner has been developed that is capable to observe the reaction of precursor solutions frequently used in spray-flame synthesis. The burner provides an almost flat, laminar, and steady flame with homogeneous addition of a fine aerosol and thus enables detailed investigation and modeling of the coupled reactions inde-pendent of spray formation and turbulent mixing. With its two separate supply channel matrices, the burner also enables the use of reactants that would otherwise react with each other already before reaching the flame. These features enable the investigation of a wide range of flame-based synthesis methods for nanoparticles and, due to the flat-flame geometry, kinetics models for these processes can be developed and validated. This work describes the matrix burner development and its gas flow optimization by simulation. Droplet-size dis-tributions generated by ultrasonic nebulization and their interaction with the burner structure are investigated by phase-Doppler anemometry. As an example for nanoparticle-for ming flames from solutions, iron-oxide nanoparticle-generating flames using iron(III) nitrate nonahydrate dissolved in 1-butanol were investigated. This effort includes measurements of two-dimensional maps of the flame temperature by a thermocouple and height-dependent concentration profiles of the main species by time-of-flight mass spectrometry. Exper-imental data are compared with 1D simulations using a reduced reaction mechanism. The results show that the new burner is well suited for the development of reaction models for precursors supplied in the liquid phase usually applied in spray-flame synthesis configurations.& COPY; 2022 The Combustion Institute. Together, the pattern of results confirms the use of the German versions of the FS and the FAS to measure the affective response for a PMR exercise.}}, author = {{Thorenz, Kristin and Berwinkel, Andre and Weigelt, Matthias}}, issn = {{2076-328X}}, journal = {{Behavioral Sciences}}, keywords = {{Behavioral Neuroscience, General Psychology, Genetics, Development, Ecology, Evolution, Behavior and Systematics}}, number = {{7}}, publisher = {{MDPI AG}}, title = {{{A Validation Study for the German Versions of the Feeling Scale and the Felt Arousal Scale for a Progressive Muscle Relaxation Exercise}}}, doi = {{10.3390/bs13070523}}, volume = {{13}}, year = {{2023}}, } @article{45856, author = {{Thorenz, Kristin and Berwinkel, Andre and Weigelt, Matthias}}, issn = {{2152-7180}}, journal = {{Psychology}}, keywords = {{General Earth and Planetary Sciences, General Environmental Science}}, number = {{06}}, pages = {{1070--1084}}, publisher = {{Scientific Research Publishing, Inc.}}, title = {{{A Validation Study of the German Versions of the Feeling Scale and the Felt Arousal Scale for a Passive Relaxation Technique (Autogenic Training)}}}, doi = {{10.4236/psych.2023.146058}}, volume = {{14}}, year = {{2023}}, } @inproceedings{47306, author = {{Herbert, Franziska and Becker, Steffen and Schaewitz, Leonie and Hielscher, Jonas and Kowalewski, Marvin and Sasse, M.
