A vignette methodology was applied to investigate whether group work may also reduce procrastination. The vignettes described a typical academic assignment, while varying the task structure (individual work vs. conjunctive group work vs. additive group work) and group member ability (high vs. low). For each vignette, student participants (N = 443) provided ratings on their perceived indispensability, procrastination of the assignment, and affect. When group member ability was high, procrastination was lower in additive group work as compared to individual work. When group member ability was low, procrastination was lower in conjunctive group work as compared to both individual work and additive group work. As predicted, perceived indispensability mediated the difference in procrastination between conjunctive and additive group work. Moderation analyses further revealed that the effects were more pronounced for high trait procrastinators. Further, both types of group work led to increases in task-related positive affect as compared to individual work. By demonstrating the relevance of group work as a social factor, the results should be useful for the extension of existing programs targeting procrastination, and may inspire measures for preventing procrastination by changes in the study environment.}}, author = {{Koppenborg, Markus and Klingsieck, Katrin B. and Hüffmeier, Joachim}}, issn = {{1046-1310}}, journal = {{Current Psychology}}, keywords = {{General Psychology}}, publisher = {{Springer Science and Business Media LLC}}, title = {{{Conjunctive and additive group work reduce academic procrastination: insights from a vignette study}}}, doi = {{10.1007/s12144-023-04294-w}}, year = {{2023}}, } @phdthesis{45658, abstract = {{Um Schüler*innenmerkmale korrekt zu beurteilen benötigen Lehrkräfte diagnostische Kompetenz. Thirty‐seven participants learned a sequential arm movement with 192 trials in each of five practice sessions. Feedback, based on a performance adaptive bandwidth, was given after every trial. Electroencephalogram (EEG) was recorded in the first and last practice sessions. The degree of motor automatization was tested under dual‐task conditions in a pre‐test–post‐test design. Quantitative error information was transported in both feedback conditions (positive and negative). Frontal theta activity was discussed as a general signal that cognitive control is needed and, therefore, was expected to be higher after negative feedback. Extensive motor practice promotes automatization, and therefore, decreased frontal theta activity was expected in the later practice. Further, it was expected that frontal theta was predictive for subsequent behavioural adaptations and the amount of motor automatization. As the results show, induced frontal theta power was higher after negative feedback and decreased after five sessions of practice. Moreover, induced theta activity was predictive for error correction and, therefore, an indicator of whether the recruited cognitive resources successfully induced behavioural adaptations. It remains to be solved why these effects, which fit well with the theoretical assumptions, were only revealed by the induced part of frontal theta activity. Further, the amount of theta activity during practice was not predictive for the degree of motor automatization. The feedback‐related negativity (FRN) is an event‐related potential, which is often described as a correlate of the reward prediction error in reinforcement learning. The number of studies examining the FRN in motor tasks is increasing. This meta‐analysis summarizes the component in the motor domain and compares it to the cognitive domain. Therefore, a data set of a previous meta‐analysis in the cognitive domain that comprised 47 studies  was reanalyzed and compared to additional 25 studies of the motor domain. Further, a moderator analysis for the studies in the motor domain was conducted. The FRN amplitude was higher in the motor domain than in the cognitive domain. This might be related to a higher task complexity and a higher feedback ambiguity of motor tasks. The FRN latency was shorter in the motor domain than in the cognitive domain. Given that sensory information can be used as an external feedback predictor prior to the presentation of the final feedback, reward processing in the motor domain may have been faster and reduced the FRN latency. The moderator variable analysis revealed that the feedback modality influenced the FRN latency, with shorter FRN latencies after bimodal than after visual feedback. Processing of outcome feedback seems to share basic principles in both domains; however, differences exist and should be considered in FRN studies. Future research is motivated to scrutinize the effects of bimodal feedback and other moderators within the motor domain.}}, author = {{Faßbender, Laura and Krause, Daniel and Weigelt, Matthias}}, issn = {{0048-5772}}, journal = {{Psychophysiology}}, keywords = {{Experimental and Cognitive Psychology, Neuropsychology and Physiological Psychology, Biological Psychiatry, Cognitive Neuroscience, Developmental Neuroscience, Endocrine and Autonomic Systems, Neurology, Experimental and Cognitive Psychology, Neuropsychology and Physiological Psychology, General Neuroscience}}, number = {{12}}, publisher = {{Wiley}}, title = {{{Feedback processing in cognitive and motor tasks: A meta‐analysis on the feedback‐related negativity}}}, doi = {{10.1111/psyp.14439}}, volume = {{60}}, year = {{2023}}, } @article{48714, abstract = {{AbstractAction imagery practice (AIP) describes the repetitive imagination of an action to improve subsequent action execution. Because AIP and action execution practice (AEP) draw on partly similar motor mechanisms, it was assumed that AIP may lead to motor automatization, which is observable in a reduction of dual-task costs after AEP. To investigate automatization in AIP, we compared dual-task and single-task performance in practice and random sequences in pretests and posttests. All participants practiced serial reactions to visual stimuli in ten single-task practice sessions. An AIP group imagined the reactions. An AEP group and a control practice group executed the reactions. Practice followed a sequential sequence in AIP and AEP but was random in control practice. In dual-task test conditions, tones were counted that appeared in addition to the visual stimuli. RTs decreased from pretest to posttest in both practice and random sequences in all groups indicating general sequence-unspecific learning. Further, RTs decreased to a greater extent in the practice sequence than in the random sequence after AIP and AEP, indicating sequence-specific learning. Dual-task costs—the difference between RTs after tone and no tone events—were reduced independent from the performed sequence in all groups indicating sequence-unspecific automatization. The raw material for this process is flat wire made of high-strength steel. During the manufacturing process of the flat wire, residual stresses and plastic deformations are induced into the wire. These residual stresses and deformations fluctuate over the length of the semi-finished product and have a negative effect on the final product quality. Straightening machines are used to reduce this influence to a minimum. So far, the adjustment of a straightening machine has been performed manually, which is a lengthy and complex task even for an experienced worker. This inevitably leads to the use of inefficient straightening strategies and causes high rejection rates in the entire production process. Due to a lack of sensor information from the straightening operation, application of modern feedback control methods has not been practicable. This paper presents a novel design for a straightening machine with an integrated, precise straightening force measurement. By simultaneously monitoring the position of the straightening rollers, state variables of the straightening operation can be derived. As two major change agents, technology infusion and data privacy regulations are inextricably linked and constitute a critical ethical and societal issue. Specifically, service frontlines—as represented by human or technological agents, or some hybrid form—rely on customer data for service provision, which subjects them to privacy regulations governing the collection, submission, access, and use of any customer data thus captured. However, scant research outlines the significant implications of evolving data privacy regulations for service frontline encounters. To advance knowledge in this domain, this research distills six key dimensions of global data privacy regulations (fairness, data limits, transparency, control, consent, and recourse). Employing an intelligences theoretical lens, the authors theorize how these dimensions might become differentially manifest across three service frontline interface types (human-based, technology-based, and hybrid). Carefully intersecting the need for varying intelligences across data privacy regulatory dimensions with the abilities of service frontline interfaces to harness each intelligence type, this study offers a novel conceptual framework that advances research and practice. Theoretical, managerial, and policy implications unfold from the proposed framework, which also can inform a future research agenda. }}, author = {{Steinhoff, Lena and Martin, Kelly D.}}, issn = {{1094-6705}}, journal = {{Journal of Service Research}}, keywords = {{Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management, Sociology and Political Science, Information Systems}}, number = {{3}}, pages = {{330--350}}, publisher = {{SAGE Publications}}, title = {{{Putting Data Privacy Regulation into Action: The Differential Capabilities of Service Frontline Interfaces}}}, doi = {{10.1177/10946705221141925}}, volume = {{26}}, year = {{2023}}, } @phdthesis{49155, abstract = {{Hybride Bauteile, welche aus Werkstoffen mit hohen spezifischen Festigkeiten bestehen, können zu einem signifikanten Leichtbau im Automobil beitragen. The second dynamic variable is the number of investors who believe that asset prices are abnormally high. In a phase plane analysis, I find both stable and unstable equilibria, depending on the spread of information and the response to other agents’ beliefs. If individuals try to increase their returns while perceiving more overpricing, these equilibria can be spirals or even approach limit cycles. Although I intend to study general price patterns, abnormally high asset prices can be caused by financial bubbles. In this model, bubbles can emerge and deflate both in cycles or directly, or they can grow until they burst. Further, I analyze market behavior after a central bank increases the interest rate. In this paper we consider dynamical systems on hypernetworks by defining a class of admissible maps for every such hypernetwork. We explain how to classify robust cluster synchronization patterns on hypernetworks by finding balanced partitions, and we generalize the concept of a graph fibration to the hypernetwork context. We also show that robust synchronization patterns are only fully determined by polynomial admissible maps of high order. This means that, unlike in dyadic networks, cluster synchronization on hypernetworks is a higher-order, i.e., nonlinear, effect. We give a formula, in terms of the order of the hypernetwork, for the degree of the polynomial admissible maps that determine robust synchronization patterns. We also demonstrate that this degree is optimal by investigating a class of examples. We conclude by demonstrating how this effect may cause remarkable synchrony breaking bifurcations that occur at high polynomial degree.}}, author = {{von der Gracht, Sören and Nijholt, Eddie and Rink, Bob}}, issn = {{0036-1399}}, journal = {{SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics}}, keywords = {{Applied Mathematics}}, number = {{6}}, pages = {{2329--2353}}, publisher = {{Society for Industrial & Applied Mathematics (SIAM)}}, title = {{{Hypernetworks: Cluster Synchronization Is a Higher-Order Effect}}}, doi = {{10.1137/23m1561075}}, volume = {{83}}, year = {{2023}}, } @article{49317, author = {{Jacke, Christoph}}, journal = {{Testcard. It is necessary to implement as many zero-emission mobility systems as possible in the shortest time. For fast ferries, which are a relevant transport manner for a large share of the global population, technical issues could be solved and the successful operation was demonstrated. Up to today high-speed ships have been fully individually designed because physical effects demand for an individual optimisation for each use-case. Specifically for battery electric ships the overall efficiency is crucial to ensure not only an ecological but also economical operation.With today's methods the design and production of such an individual designed ferry does take too long. To cover the rising demand, new approaches for mass production need to be established.In this paper we describe a method for designing a platform for ships with the example of a battery electric fast ferry. The focus is on the actual modularisation, as other aspects like requirements or results of our example case are published elsewhere and are therefore just included briefly.The method is validated on the world's first battery powered high-speed ferry.}}, author = {{Seidenberg, Tobias and Disselkamp, Jan-Philipp and Jürgenhake, Christoph and Anacker, Harald and Dumitrescu, Roman and Papanikolaou, Apostolos}}, issn = {{2732-527X}}, journal = {{Proceedings of the Design Society}}, pages = {{2905--2914}}, publisher = {{Cambridge University Press (CUP)}}, title = {{{Platform Approach for Modularising Battery Electric fast Ferries}}}, doi = {{10.1017/pds.2023.291}}, volume = {{3}}, year = {{2023}}, } @article{47803, author = {{Cieply, Jonas and Disselkamp, Jan-Philipp and Dyck, Florian and Alturk, Waddah and Kühn, Arno and Dumitrescu, Roman}}, issn = {{2212-8271}}, journal = {{Procedia CIRP}}, keywords = {{General Medicine}}, pages = {{834--840}}, publisher = {{Elsevier BV}}, title = {{{A systematic literature review on the Digital Twin of the factory in the context of the product and factory lifecycle}}}, doi = {{10.1016/j.procir.2023.02.168}}, volume = {{119}}, year = {{2023}}, } @article{47801, author = {{Seidenberg, Tobias and Disselkamp, Jan-Philipp and Jürgenhake, Christoph and Grobbel, Daniel and Dumitrescu, Roman and Papanikolaou, Apostolos}}, issn = {{2212-8271}}, journal = {{Procedia CIRP}}, keywords = {{General Medicine}}, pages = {{1158--1163}}, publisher = {{Elsevier BV}}, title = {{{Development of a modular architecture for complex mechatronic systems}}}, doi = {{10.1016/j.procir.2023.02.186}}, volume = {{119}}, year = {{2023}}, } @article{47802, author = {{Disselkamp, Jan-Philipp and Cieply, Jonas and Dyck, Florian and Grothe, Robin and Anacker, Harald and Dumitrescu, Roman}}, issn = {{2212-8271}}, journal = {{Procedia CIRP}}, keywords = {{General Medicine}}, pages = {{716--721}}, publisher = {{Elsevier BV}}, title = {{{Integrated product and production development - a systematic literature review}}}, doi = {{10.1016/j.procir.2023.06.198}}, volume = {{119}}, year = {{2023}}, } @inproceedings{47805, author = {{Wilke, Daria and Humpert, Lynn and Mansheim, Johanna and Anacker, Harald and Dumitrescu, Roman}}, booktitle = {{DS 125: Proceedings of the 34th Symposium Design for X (DFX2023)}}, publisher = {{The Design Society}}, title = {{{Systems Engineering Potentials and Use Cases for the Offer Phase in Special Purpose Machinery}}}, doi = {{10.35199/dfx2023.23}}, year = {{2023}}, } @article{47809, abstract = {{Established companies are increasingly opening their innovation systems to stay ahead of the competition. In this context, collaboration with innovative and agile start-ups are gaining continuously more importance. In the past established companies often used common corporate venturing methods such as incubators, accelerators, or corporate venture capital for collaboration. Compared to these methods the venture client model is relatively new and was invented by BMW employees in 2014. Using the venture client model, established companies become early clients of the start-ups even it is still a venture to do so. Together they carry out a pilot project to develop a proof of concept and validate it under real conditions. If successful, they enter a long-term collaboration to integrate the start-up’s solution into products, processes, or business models of the established company. The aim of this paper is to sum up the current literature and set a foundation for future research on this topic. Therefore, we conduct a systematic literature review. As a result, we provide a definition of the venture client model, describe characteristics, present advantages from the perspective of established companies and start-ups. In addition, we summarize the state of research regarding strategy, process, and organizational structure and for the venture client model. In terms of strategy, future research should elaborate defining elements of a strategy as well as ways to integrate the venture client model into the corporate innovation-ecosystem. Focusing on the process additional research is needed on a venture client reference process and its integration into the corporate’s core processes. Referring to the organizational structure a reference architecture for a venture client unit as well as its positioning within the organization (e.g., innovation management or corporate strategy) should be further investigated.}}, author = {{Haarmann, Lennard and Machon, Fabian and Rabe, Martin and Asmar, Laban and Dumitrescu, Roman}}, issn = {{2049-1069}}, journal = {{European Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship}}, number = {{1}}, pages = {{345--355}}, publisher = {{Academic Conferences International Ltd}}, title = {{{Venture Client Model: A systematic Literature Review}}}, doi = {{10.34190/ecie.18.1.1790}}, volume = {{18}}, year = {{2023}}, } @inproceedings{47815, author = {{Kürpick, Christian and Kühn, Arno and Olszewski, Luca and Dumitrescu, Roman}}, booktitle = {{2023 IEEE Conference on Technologies for Sustainability (SusTech)}}, publisher = {{IEEE}}, title = {{{Framework for Dual Transformation: A Systematic Literature Review on the Interplays between Digitalization and Sustainability}}}, doi = {{10.1109/sustech57309.2023.10129630}}, year = {{2023}}, } @inproceedings{47807, author = {{Ellermann, Kai and Asmar, Laban and Dumitrescu, Roman}}, booktitle = {{ISPIM Conference Proceedings}}, location = {{Ljubljana, Slovenia}}, title = {{{A Technology Foresight Maturity Model}}}, year = {{2023}}, } @inproceedings{47829, author = {{Brock, Jonathan and Löhr, Bernd and Brennig, Katharina and Seger, Thilo and Bartelheimer, Christian and von Enzberg, Sebastian and Kühn, Arno and Dumitrescu, Roman}}, booktitle = {{ECIS 2023 Proceedings at AIS Electronic Library (AISeL).}}, location = {{KRISTIANSAND, NORWAY}}, pages = {{256}}, title = {{{A process mining maturity model: Enabling organizations to assess and improve their process mining activities}}}, year = {{2023}}, }
