@article{49636, abstract = {{Abstract Purpose Wearables serve to quantify the on-court activity in intermittent sports such as field hockey (FH). Based on objective data, benchmarks can be determined to tailor training intensity and volume. Next to average and accumulated values, the most intense periods (MIPs) during competitive FH matches are of special interest, since these quantify the peak intensities players experience throughout the intermittent matches. The aim of this study was to retrospectively compare peak intensities between training and competition sessions in a male FH team competing in the first german division. Methods Throughout an 8-week in-season period, 372 individual activity datasets (144 datasets from competitive sessions) were recorded using the Polar Team Pro sensor (Kempele, Finland). MIPs were calculated applying a rolling window approach with predefined window length (1–5 min) and calculated for Total distance, High-Intensity-Running distance (> 16 km/h), Sprinting distance (> 20 km/h) and Acceleration load. Significant differences between training and competition MIPs were analysed through non-parametric statistical tests (P < 0.05). Results Analyses revealed higher MIPs during competition for all considered outcomes (P < 0.001). Effect size estimation revealed strongest effects for sprinting distance (d = 1.89 to d = 1.22) and lowest effect sizes for acceleration load (d = 0.92 to d = 0.49). Conclusion The present findings demonstrate that peak intensities during training do not reach those experienced during competitive sessions in a male FH team. Training routines such as manipulations of court-dimensions and team sizes might contribute to this discrepancy. Coaches should compare training and competition intensities to recalibrate training routines to optimize athletes’ preparation for competition. }}, author = {{Büchel, Daniel and Döring, Michael and Baumeister, Jochen}}, issn = {{2096-6709}}, journal = {{Journal of Science in Sport and Exercise}}, keywords = {{Nutrition and Dietetics, Rehabilitation, Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation, Physiology}}, publisher = {{Springer Science and Business Media LLC}}, title = {{{A Comparison of the Most Intense Periods (MIPs) During Competitive Matches and Training Over an 8-Week Period in a Male Elite Field Hockey Team}}}, doi = {{10.1007/s42978-023-00261-w}}, year = {{2023}}, } @inproceedings{47108, author = {{Gräßler, Iris and Özcan, Deniz and Preuß, Daniel}}, booktitle = {{Design fox X - Beiträge zum 34. Inducing mechanical and/or thermal energy can cause a phase transformation from austenite to martensite within this steel. The resulting α’-martensite has different mechanical and micromagnetic properties, which can be advantageous depending on the application. For purposes of local property control, the resulting α’-martensite content should be measured and controlled online during the forming process. For the traveling salesperson problem (TSP) a plethora of features have been suggested. Most of these features are, if at all, only normalized imprecisely raising the issue of feature values being strongly affected by the instance size. Such artifacts may have detrimental effects on algorithm selection models. We propose a normalization for two feature groups which stood out in multiple AS studies on the TSP: (a) features based on a minimum spanning tree (MST) and (b) nearest neighbor relationships of the input instance. To this end we theoretically derive minimum and maximum values for properties of MSTs and k-nearest neighbor graphs (NNG) of Euclidean graphs. We analyze the differences in feature space between normalized versions of these features and their unnormalized counterparts. Our empirical investigations on various TSP benchmark sets point out that the feature scaling succeeds in eliminating the effect of the instance size. A proof-of-concept AS-study shows promising results: models trained with normalized features tend to outperform those trained with the respective vanilla features.}}, author = {{Heins, Jonathan and Bossek, Jakob and Pohl, Janina and Seiler, Moritz and Trautmann, Heike and Kerschke, Pascal}}, issn = {{0304-3975}}, journal = {{Theoretical Computer Science}}, keywords = {{Feature normalization, Algorithm selection, Traveling salesperson problem}}, pages = {{123--145}}, title = {{{A study on the effects of normalized TSP features for automated algorithm selection}}}, doi = {{https://doi.org/10.1016/j.tcs.2022.10.019}}, volume = {{940}}, year = {{2023}}, } @phdthesis{49725, author = {{Hartung, Michael}}, title = {{{Untersuchung der UVC-Bestrahlung als Oberflächenvorbehandlungsmethode von Polycarbonaten zur Erzeugung einer Verbundhaftung zu Flüssigsilikonkautschuken }}}, year = {{2023}}, } @inproceedings{49740, author = {{Stüker, Daniel and Schöppner, Volker}}, booktitle = {{INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON HUMANS AND TECHNOLOGY: A HOLISTIC AND SYMBIOTIC APPROACH TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: ICHT 2022}}, issn = {{0094-243X}}, publisher = {{AIP Publishing}}, title = {{{An approach for the numerical calculation of the non-isothermal pressure-throughput-characteristics of single screw melt-extruder}}}, doi = {{10.1063/5.0138944}}, year = {{2023}}, } @inproceedings{49737, author = {{Malatyali, Hatice and Schöppner, Volker and Hoemann, Theresa}}, booktitle = {{INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON HUMANS AND TECHNOLOGY: A HOLISTIC AND SYMBIOTIC APPROACH TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: ICHT 2022}}, issn = {{0094-243X}}, publisher = {{AIP Publishing}}, title = {{{Investigation of the influence of process and screw configurations on fiber length for recycled carbon fiber}}}, doi = {{10.1063/5.0139631}}, year = {{2023}}, } @inproceedings{49734, author = {{Malatyali, Hatice and Schöppner, Volker}}, booktitle = {{INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON HUMANS AND TECHNOLOGY: A HOLISTIC AND SYMBIOTIC APPROACH TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT: ICHT 2022}}, issn = {{0094-243X}}, publisher = {{AIP Publishing}}, title = {{{Investigation of shear rates in twin-screw extruder using CFD-simulation}}}, doi = {{10.1063/5.0139630}}, year = {{2023}}, } @article{49505, author = {{Janzen, Thomas and Methfessel, Annette}}, journal = {{Englisch betrifft uns}}, title = {{{"English was British". These methods are particularly advantageous to account for microstructural mechanisms which can be related to nonlinearities and time‐dependency due to elasto‐plasticity behavior. However, their advantages are diminished by increasing computational demand. The present contribution deals with the balance of accuracy and numerical efficiency of nonlinear homogenization associated with a framework of goal‐oriented adaptivity, which takes into account error accumulation over time. To this end, model adaptivity of homogenization methods is coupled to mesh adaptivity on the macro scale. Our new proposed adaptive procedure is driven by a goal‐oriented a posteriori error estimator based on duality techniques using downwind and upwind approximations. Due to nonlinearities and time‐dependency of the plasticity, the estimation of error transport and error generation is obtained with a backward‐in‐time dual method despite a high demand on memory capacity. In this contribution, the dual problem is solved with a forward‐in‐time dual method that allows estimating the full error during the resolution of the primal problem without the need for extra memory capacity. Finally, a numerical example illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed adaptive approach.}}, author = {{Tchomgue Simeu, Arnold and Mahnken, Rolf}}, issn = {{1617-7061}}, journal = {{PAMM}}, keywords = {{Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Atomic and Molecular Physics, and Optics}}, publisher = {{Wiley}}, title = {{{Downwind and upwind approximations for mesh and model adaptivity of elasto‐plastic composites}}}, doi = {{10.1002/pamm.202300136}}, year = {{2023}}, } @techreport{46044, author = {{Giese, Henning and Holtmann, Svea}}, title = {{{Towards Green Driving - Income Taxes Incentives for Plug-In Hybrids}}}, doi = {{10.2139/ssrn.4394968}}, volume = {{118}}, year = {{2023}}, } @techreport{49873, author = {{Giese, Henning and Koch, Reinald and Sureth-Sloane, Caren}}, title = {{{Tax Complexity, Tax Department Structure, and Tax Risk}}}, year = {{2023}}, } @inproceedings{49882, abstract = {{Online discussion moderators must make ad-hoc decisions about whether the contributions of discussion participants are appropriate or should be removed to maintain civility. In this paper, we operationalize appropriate language in argumentation for the first time. In particular, we model appropriateness through the absence of flaws, grounded in research on argument quality assessment, especially in aspects from rhetoric. From these, we derive a new taxonomy of 14 dimensions that determine inappropriate language in online discussions. Building on three argument quality corpora, we then create a corpus of 2191 arguments annotated for the 14 dimensions. Empirical analyses support that the taxonomy covers the concept of appropriateness comprehensively, showing several plausible correlations with argument quality dimensions. The study involves a teaching unit on data awareness framed by a pretest-posttest design using a questionnaire on students' awareness and understanding of and reflection on data practices of data-driven digital artefacts. The study's findings indicate that the data awareness framework supports students in understanding data practices of data-driven digital artefacts. The findings also suggest that the framework encourages students to reflect on these data practices and think about their daily behaviour. The implemented programs at both sites were similar in their educational focus on socio-educational values, and teaching models (hybridization of teaching games for understanding and cooperative learning) that enhance social inclusion. Using individual and group interviews with teachers, sports coordinators, parents, and students, a qualitative approach was used to identify the factors that facilitate or hinder the social inclusion processes. Results indicated that the implemented sports programs successfully facilitated social inclusion processes, enabling the development of interpersonal skills and relationships between students from different cultural backgrounds. We used the dual nature theory, a techno-philosophical approach, to cope with these challenges. According to it, one can explain, for example, an XAI's decision by addressing its dual nature: by focusing on the Architecture (e.g., the logic of its algorithms) or the Relevance (e.g., the severity of a decision, the implications of a recommendation). We investigated 20 game explanations using the theory as an analytical framework. We elaborate how we used the theory to quickly structure and compare explanations of technological artifacts. We supplemented results from analyzing the explanation contents with results from a video recall to explore how explainers justified their explanation. We found that explainers were focusing on the physical aspects of the game first (Architecture) and only later on aspects of the Relevance. Reasoning in the video recalls indicated that EX regarded the focus on the Architecture as important for structuring the explanation initially by explaining the basic components before focusing on more complex, intangible aspects. Shifting between addressing the two sides was justified by explanation goals, emerging misunderstandings, and the knowledge needs of the explainee. This struggle seems to be due, in part, to the tension students experience when advised to cite sources (i.e., others’ voices) on the one hand, and to demonstrate their own disciplinary voice on the other hand. The aim of this article is to contribute to the understanding of source use, presenting a figure that illustrates gradients of students’ engagement with sources in various sections of their bachelor’s theses. Based on Bakhtin’s idea that a writer’s voice gradually emerges out of others’ words, and the terms knowledge telling and knowledge transforming, we developed a continuum that might help to understand the complexity of source use. We arrived at this continuum through the qualitative exploration of students’ use of sources in 15 bachelor’s theses from the humanities in one Norwegian university. In this article, we illustrate the continuum through extracts from the students’ theses, showing how issues of voice are intertwined with students’ engagement with sources. We propose that understanding the various functions of sources as they are typically used in the disciplines will help students to develop and demonstrate their disciplinary voices. Moreover, the continuum provides a foundation for fruitful discussions of writing practices that raise critical awareness about implicit expectations concerning source use and issues of voice in academic writing.  }}, author = {{Stock, Ingrid and Karsten, Andrea and Eik-Nes, Nancy Lea}}, issn = {{1891-5108}}, journal = {{Sakprosa}}, keywords = {{Automotive Engineering}}, number = {{2}}, publisher = {{University of Oslo Library}}, title = {{{Emerging disciplinary voices}}}, doi = {{10.5617/sakprosa.10185}}, volume = {{15}}, year = {{2023}}, } @article{50009, abstract = {{ In the past decades, the notion of voice in the theorizing and teaching of academic writing has been the subject of much debate and conceptual change, especially concerning its relation to writer identity. Working from a refinement of the dialogical notion of voice based on the concepts of polyphony and interiorization, this article presents a methodological approach for analyzing voice(s) in writing. The article presents material around the evolution of an early-career researcher’s dissertation synopsis. The material is multilayered, including the writer’s text, transcripts from an interdisciplinary peer-feedback conversation with two colleagues, and a video-stimulated interview with the writer. Excerpts of the material were analyzed to trace the polyphony of interiorized voices that influenced the writing. This focus revealed the multivoicedness of academic texts as an effect of their history of coming into being. This article contributes to the question of voice and identity in academic writing from a dialogical psycholinguistic perspective by presenting a de-reifying notion of voice grounded in an understanding of writing as a polyphonic activity, which also feeds into the formation of a writer’s self. }}, author = {{Karsten, Andrea}}, issn = {{0741-0883}}, journal = {{Written Communication}}, keywords = {{Literature and Literary Theory, Communication}}, number = {{1}}, pages = {{6--36}}, publisher = {{SAGE Publications}}, title = {{{Voices in Dialogue: Taking Polyphony in Academic Writing Seriously}}}, doi = {{10.1177/07410883231207104}}, volume = {{41}}, year = {{2023}}, } @inbook{50011, author = {{Karsten, Andrea}}, booktitle = {{Bedingungen der Wissensproduktion. This leads to the formation of the Euler-Lagrange equations, which serve as a model of how the system will behave in time. If the dynamics exhibit additional symmetries, then the motion fulfils additional conservation laws, such as conservation of energy (time invariance), momentum (translation invariance), or angular momentum (rotational invariance). To learn a system representation, one could learn the discrete Euler-Lagrange equations, or alternatively, learn the discrete Lagrangian function Ld which defines them. Based on ideas from Lie group theory, in this work we introduce a framework to learn a discrete Lagrangian along with its symmetry group from discrete observations of motions and, therefore, identify conserved quantities. The learning process does not restrict the form of the Lagrangian, does not require velocity or momentum observations or predictions and incorporates a cost term which safeguards against unwanted solutions and against potential numerical issues in forward simulations. The learnt discrete quantities are related to their continuous analogues using variational backward error analysis and numerical results demonstrate the improvement such models can have both qualitatively and quantitatively even in the presence of noise.}}, author = {{Lishkova, Yana and Scherer, Paul and Ridderbusch, Steffen and Jamnik, Mateja and Liò, Pietro and Ober-Blöbaum, Sina and Offen, Christian}}, booktitle = {{IFAC-PapersOnLine}}, location = {{ Yokohama, Japan}}, number = {{2}}, pages = {{3203--3210}}, publisher = {{Elsevier}}, title = {{{Discrete Lagrangian Neural Networks with Automatic Symmetry Discovery}}}, doi = {{10.1016/j.ifacol.2023.10.1457}}, volume = {{56}}, year = {{2023}}, } @inbook{44858, author = {{Peckhaus, Volker}}, booktitle = {{Aristotle’s Syllogism and the Creation of Modern Logic: Between Tradition and Innovation, 1820s–1930s (Bloomsbury Studies in the Aristotelian Tradition)}}, editor = {{Verburgt, Lukas M. and Cosci, Matteo}}, pages = {{113--127}}, publisher = {{Bloomsbury Academic }}, title = {{{Ernst Schröder’s Algebra of Logic and the ‘Logic of the Ancient}}}, year = {{2023}}, } @misc{44874, author = {{Peckhaus, Volker}}, booktitle = {{Mathematical Reviews MR4341825}}, title = {{{Nakano, Anderson: On Ramsey’s Reason to Amend Principia Mathematica’s Logicism and Wittgenstein’s Reaction, Synthese 199 (2021), 2629–2646.}}}, year = {{2023}}, } @misc{44875, author = {{Peckhaus, Volker}}, booktitle = {{Mathematical Reviews MR4461006}}, title = {{{Schappacher, Norbert.
