  abstract     = {{Current legal frameworks enforce that Android developers accurately report the data their apps collect. However, large codebases can make this reporting challenging. This paper employs an empirical approach to understand developers' experience with Google Play Store's Data Safety Section (DSS) form.

We first survey 41 Android developers to understand how they categorize privacy-related data into DSS categories and how confident they feel when completing the DSS form. To gain a broader and more detailed view of the challenges developers encounter during the process, we complement the survey with an analysis of 172 online developer discussions, capturing the perspectives of 642 additional developers. Together, these two data sources represent insights from 683 developers.

Our findings reveal that developers often manually classify the privacy-related data their apps collect into the data categories defined by Google-or, in some cases, omit classification entirely-and rely heavily on existing online resources when completing the form. Moreover, developers are generally confident in recognizing the data their apps collect, yet they lack confidence in translating this knowledge into DSS-compliant disclosures. Key challenges include issues in identifying privacy-relevant data to complete the form, limited understanding of the form, and concerns about app rejection due to discrepancies with Google's privacy requirements.
These results underscore the need for clearer guidance and more accessible tooling to support developers in meeting privacy-aware reporting obligations. }},

  abstract     = {{The joining of dissimilar materials, such as steel and aluminum, entails significant challenges during thermal curing processes due to differing coefficients of thermal expansion. This study addresses the formation of “viscous fingering” instabilities in structural adhesive joints, which are induced by thermally driven relative displacements during the liquid phase of the adhesive. Using a component-like specimen “bridge specimen,” the dependency of this phenomenon on process temperature and structural stiffness (rivet distance) was characterized. Experimental results reveal that while the relative displacement scales cubically with the free buckling length, the resulting adhesive area reduction follows an exponential trend, leading to a loss of effective bond area of up to 79%, which significantly compromises the joint strength in automotive applications. To predict these process-induced defects, a thermo-chemo-viscoelastic-viscoplastic adhesive model implemented in LS-DYNA was applied. The model combines curing kinetics, viscoelastic relaxation, and pressure-dependent plasticity and features a geometric damage parameter (D) that captures the adhesive area reduction caused by viscous fingering as an exponential function of the accumulated normal strain in the liquid phase. This damage parameter, calibrated on base-specimen level, was transferred to the component geometry. The simulation demonstrated high predictive accuracy with a maximum deviation of the adhesive area reduction of 3.1% compared to experimental data. This validates the model’s capability to predict manufacturing-induced damage in complex hybrid structures solely based on thermal boundary conditions.}},

  abstract     = {{We investigate homogeneous coupled cell systems with high-dimensional internal dynamics. In many studies on network dynamics, the analysis is restricted to networks with one-dimensional internal dynamics. Here, we show how symmetry explains the relation between dynamical behavior of systems with one-dimensional internal dynamics and with higher dimensional internal dynamics, when the underlying network topology is the same. Fundamental networks of homogeneous coupled cell systems (B. Rink, J. Sanders. Coupled Cell Networks and Their Hidden Symmetries. SIAM J. Math. Anal. 46.2 (2014)) can be expressed in terms of monoid representations, which uniquely decompose into indecomposable subrepresentations. In the high-dimensional internal dynamics case, these subrepresentations are isomorphic to multiple copies of those one computes in the one-dimensional internal dynamics case. This has interesting implications for possible center subspaces in bifurcation analysis. We describe the effect on steady state and Hopf bifurcations in l-parameter families of network vector fields. The main results in that regard are that (1) generic one-parameter steady state bifurcations are qualitatively independent of the dimension of the internal dynamics and that, (2) in order to observe all generic l-parameter bifurcations that may occur for internal dynamics of any dimension, the internal dynamics has to be at least l-dimensional for steady state bifurcations and 2l-dimensional for Hopf bifurcations. Furthermore, we illustrate how additional structure in the network can be exploited to obtain even greater understanding of bifurcation scenarios in the high-dimensional case beyond qualitative statements about the collective dynamics. One-parameter steady state bifurcations in feedforward networks exhibit an unusual amplification in the asymptotic growth rates of individual cells, when these are one-dimensional (S. von der Gracht, E. Nijholt, B. Rink. Amplified steady state bifurcations in feedforward networks. Nonlinearity 35.4 (2022)). As another main result, we prove that (3) the same cells exhibit this amplifying effect with the same growth rates when the internal dynamics is high-dimensional.}},

  abstract     = {{The degrees of freedom (DoFs) of light determine the maximum number of independent signal
channels an optical system can support. However, the polarization DoF is intrinsically limited to two by
orthogonality, which causes unavoidable crosstalk and often forces position multiplexing, where different
channels are assigned to distinct spatial locations to suppress crosstalk. This research introduces a multilayer
synchronous polarization projection method that fundamentally increases the DoF for polarization
multiplexing. The DoF equals twice the number of projection layers. We experimentally demonstrate six-
channel polarization multiplexing holography without position multiplexing. The six-channel multiplexing
results indicate that our approach exceeds the conventional polarization multiplexing method, yielding an
average 3.79 dB improvement in extinction ratio across the six channels. Compared with the theoretical
limit of traditional polarization multiplexing, our method reduces crosstalk by an average of 6.52 dB across
all channels in a seven-channel design. The polarization projection method breaks the DoF limitation
of polarization multiplexing, opening a path toward high-dimensional photonic information encoding for
communication, encryption, and imaging.}},

  abstract     = {{Modern industrial development has necessitated a wide range of joining technologies. Self-pierce riveting has become a prevalent technique for sheet metal assembly, especially in automotive applications. Achieving proper joint geometry and adequate load-bearing capacity depends on appropriate tool selection and precise process control. Material properties and condition also play a significant role in process performance. To accommodate the inevitable variations in component characteristics during production, a robust and stable joining process is essential. The study focuses on investigating the influence of preformed joining partners on the joining process and the joint's load capacity. An EN AW-6014 in T4 condition, as well as an HCT590X, are used as materials for this study. For this purpose, an exemplary process chain consisting of the steps of performing, joining, and shear load testing is studied. Each process step is implemented using an FE model to predict the outcome of subsequent steps. For analysis of the influence of pre-strain, an optimisation software is used to plan and execute variations of the process. These variations are used to create a meta-model that can describe the relationships between pre-forming and characteristic parameters of subsequent process steps. The resulting model is validated by comparing simulation and experimental data. Finally, in a novel approach, the robustness of the presented process chain is analyzed in terms of a tolerable performance level for the joining partners.}},
