  abstract = {{The article shows how to learn models of dynamical systems from data which are governed by an unknown variational PDE. Rather than employing reduction techniques, we learn a discrete field theory governed by a discrete Lagrangian density $L_d$ that is modelled as a neural network. Careful regularisation of the loss function for training $L_d$ is necessary to obtain a field theory that is suitable for numerical computations: we derive a regularisation term which optimises the solvability of the discrete Euler--Lagrange equations. Secondly, we develop a method to find solutions to machine learned discrete field theories which constitute travelling waves of the underlying continuous PDE.}},

@article{49899,
  abstract     = {{
This research aimed to understand the role of after-school sports programs in social inclusion processes in culturally diverse contexts through a multicase study within two locations. The first location was in Spain where immigrant and Spanish students were enrolled, and the other was in Chile with Mapuche-Huilliche students, immigrant and Chilean students. The implemented programs at both sites were similar in their educational focus on socio-educational values, and teaching models (hybridization of teaching games for understanding and cooperative learning) that enhance social inclusion. Using individual and group interviews with teachers, sports coordinators, parents, and students, a qualitative approach was used to identify the factors that facilitate or hinder the social inclusion processes. In addition, the researchers used qualitative observations of the programs over six months using “notes logbook” to record their impressions during the observation process. Results indicated that the implemented sports programs successfully facilitated social inclusion processes, enabling the development of interpersonal skills and relationships between students from different cultural backgrounds. The previous training and experiences of teachers in culturally diverse contexts, and incorporation of traditional sporting games from all cultures, seems to be an important facilitator factor for the inclusion potential of the implemented programs.
}},

  abstract = {{This paper presents a comprehensive study on diagnosing a spacecraft propulsion system utilizing data provided by the Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) society, specifically obtained as part of the Asia-Pacific PHM conference’s data challenge 2023. The objective of the challenge is to identify and diagnose known faults as well as unknown anomalies in the spacecraft’s propulsion system, which is critical for ensuring the spacecraft’s proper functionality and safety. To address this challenge, the proposed method follows a systematic approach of feature extraction, feature selection, and model development. The models employed in this study are kMeans clustering and decision trees combined to ensembles, enriched with expert knowledge. With the method presented, our team was capable of reaching high accuracy in identifying anomalies as well as diagnosing faults, resulting in attaining the seventh place with a score of 93.08 %.}},
