  abstract     = {{
In many embedded systems, for instance, in the automotive, avionic, or robotics domain, critical functionalities are implemented via chains of communicating recurrent tasks. To ensure safety and correctness of such systems, guarantees on the reaction time, that is, the delay between a cause (e.g., an external activity or reading of a sensor) and the corresponding effect, must be provided.
Current approaches focus on the maximum reaction time, considering the worst-case system behavior. However, in many scenarios, probabilistic guarantees on the reaction time are sufficient. That is, it is sufficient to provide a guarantee that the reaction does not exceed a certain threshold with (at least) a certain probability.
This work provides such probabilistic guarantees on the reaction time, considering two types of randomness: response time randomness and failure probabilities. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work that defines and analyzes probabilistic reaction time for cause-effect chains based on sporadic tasks.
}},

abstract = {{Although the NLP community has adopted central differential privacy as a go-to framework for privacy-preserving model training or data sharing, the choice and interpretation of the key parameter, privacy budget ε that governs the strength of privacy protection, remains largely arbitrary. We argue that determining the ε value should not be solely in the hands of researchers or system developers, but must also take into account the actual people who share their potentially sensitive data. In other words: Would you share your instant messages for ε of 10? We address this research gap by designing, implementing, and conducting a behavioral experiment (311 lay participants) to study the behavior of people in uncertain decision-making situations with respect to privacy-threatening situations. Framing the risk perception in terms of two realistic NLP scenarios and using a vignette behavioral study help us determine what ε thresholds would lead lay people to be willing to share sensitive textual data - to our knowledge, the first study of its kind.}},

abstract = {{In this work, the influence of the filler–matrix adhesion on the tensile properties of laser-sintered parts built with Polyamide 613 filled with glass beads was investigated. For this purpose, dry blends of glass beads with and without organosilane coupling agents and polyamide powder were prepared and processed into tensile specimens on an EOS P396 laser sintering system. The samples were tested both in the dry state and after an accelerated conditioning in a climate chamber. Furthermore, finite element method (FEM) simulations were performed to model the extreme cases of optimum adhesion and no adhesion. By correlating the tensile tests with the simulation results and by analyzing the fracture surfaces, it was shown that the filler–matrix adhesion is sufficient in the dry state but is strongly degraded by conditioning. Even the presence of various organosilane thin films could not prevent a strong deterioration of the filler–matrix adhesion and the associated deterioration of the mechanical properties. Since a comparison with an injection-molded sample of the same polymer filler combination shows identical behavior after conditioning, it is assumed that this problem is not limited to additively manufactured parts.}},

  abstract     = {{
This article presents the potential-dependent adsorption of two proteins, bovine serum albumin (BSA) and lysozyme (LYZ), on Ti6Al4V alloy at pH 7.4 and 37 °C. The adsorption process was studied on an electropolished alloy under cathodic and anodic overpotentials, compared to the open circuit potential (OCP). To analyze the adsorption process, various complementary interface analytical techniques were employed, including PM-IRRAS (polarization-modulation infrared reflection-absorption spectroscopy), AFM (atomic force microscopy), XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy), and E-QCM (electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance) measurements. The polarization experiments were conducted within a potential range where charging of the electric double layer dominates, and Faradaic currents can be disregarded. The findings highlight the significant influence of the interfacial charge distribution on the adsorption of BSA and LYZ onto the alloy surface. Furthermore, electrochemical analysis of the protein layers formed under applied overpotentials demonstrated improved corrosion protection properties. These studies provide valuable insights into protein adsorption on titanium alloys under physiological conditions, characterized by varying potentials of the passive alloy.
}},
