Train stations, as places of connection and transfer, offer the greatest potential in this context. Thus, the deployment of autonomous service robots at train stations offers a wide range of possibilities for supporting passengers on their journeys by rail, for example, by providing information, accompanying them to the next link in the mobility chain, or transporting their luggage. Since such robots are battery-powered, one challenge is to carefully plan activities based on the remaining battery capacity. Therefore, the aim of this work is to predict battery usage and, in turn, battery state, in order to inform passengers, and to enable intelligent planning of its usage. In this work, realistic operational conditions of a service robot are systematically assessed through measurements on the service robot itself and through passenger surveys at a train station. The estimated operational conditions are experimentally replicated to simulate the heterogeneous use of the battery pack, while acquiring condition monitoring data throughout its use. The battery pack is modeled based on the single particle model, which can robustly predict the battery state by simulating its usage considering past operational conditions. The approach is validated using experimental data obtained from simulating realistic usage. On the one hand, additional battery packs are employed, and on the other hand, the load is varied. The advantage of this approach lies in the ability to account for future changes, such as higher loads than anticipated, to provide robust predictions. This enables the intelligent use of service robots, offering passengers an improved service experience at train stations.
"}],"related_material":{"link":[{"relation":"confirmation","url":"https://papers.phmsociety.org/index.php/phme/article/view/4952"}]},"publisher":"PHM Society","_id":"67019","page":"1-10","volume":9,"user_id":"47233","conference":{"location":"Oslo","start_date":"2026-07-08","end_date":"2026-07-10"},"status":"public","place":"Oslo","oa":"1","citation":{"apa":"Löwen, A., Aleman-Gallegos, E., Aimiyekagbon, O., Wachsmuth, S., & Sextro, W. As a\r\nresult, proving QMA-hardness of approximation for ground state energy\r\nestimation has remained elusive. Recently, it was shown [Bittel, Gharibian,\r\nKliesch, CCC 2023] that a natural problem involving variational quantum\r\ncircuits is QCMA-hard to approximate within ratio N^(1-eps) for any eps > 0 and\r\nN the input size. Unfortunately, this problem was not related to quantum CSPs,\r\nleaving the question of hardness of approximation for quantum CSPs open. In\r\nthis work, we show that if instead of focusing on ground state energies, one\r\nconsiders computing properties of the ground space, QCMA-hardness of computing\r\nground space properties can be shown. In particular, we show that it is (1)\r\nQCMA-complete within ratio N^(1-eps) to approximate the Ground State\r\nConnectivity problem (GSCON), and (2) QCMA-hard within the same ratio to\r\nestimate the amount of entanglement of a local Hamiltonian's ground state,\r\ndenoted Ground State Entanglement (GSE). As a bonus, a simplification of our\r\nconstruction yields NP-completeness of approximation for a natural k-SAT\r\nreconfiguration problem, to be contrasted with the recent PCP-based PSPACE\r\nhardness of approximation results for a different definition of k-SAT\r\nreconfiguration [Karthik C.S. and Manurangsi, 2023, and Hirahara, Ohsaka, STOC\r\n2024]."}],"citation":{"ieee":"S. However, incorporating optical nonlinear activation functions to make DNNs a feasible alternative to their electronic counterpart remains a challenge. Here, we investigate the inclusion of second-harmonic generation (SHG), as one of the simplest and most efficient types of optical nonlinearities, in DNNs. We numerically investigate the impact of SHG on the performance of classification tasks in an all-optical nonlinear DNN. Specifically, we investigate and discuss the essential requirements for an effective arrangement of a SHG activation in single and multilayer DNNs. We find that the performance, in terms of classification accuracy and class contrast, is affected strongly by the positioning of the SHG activation. Finally, we discuss and outline the constraints for including SHG in an experimental realization. Taking these constraints into account, we estimate the power-related efficiency of the nonlinear DNN system. Overall, our results provide a path towards implementing nonlinear DNNs using the SHG process.
","lang":"eng"}],"issue":"19","publication":"Optics Express","doi":"10.1364/oe.592467","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"article_number":"35794","intvolume":" 34","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-09-12T10:10:04Z","publication_identifier":{"issn":["1094-4087"]},"author":[{"first_name":"M.","last_name":"Braasch","full_name":"Braasch, M."},{"full_name":"Kartashova, A.","last_name":"Kartashova","first_name":"A."},{"last_name":"Krasikov","first_name":"S.","full_name":"Krasikov, S."},{"first_name":"E.","last_name":"Goi","full_name":"Goi, E."},{"full_name":"Pertsch, T.","first_name":"T.","last_name":"Pertsch"},{"first_name":"S.","last_name":"Saravi","full_name":"Saravi, S."}],"year":"2026","title":"Second-harmonic generation for enhancing the performance of diffractive neural networks"},{"article_number":"023706","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"10.1103/2hth-yy33","year":"2026","title":"Toward spectral engineering of squeezed light in high-gain parametric down-conversion","publication_identifier":{"issn":["2469-9926","2469-9934"]},"author":[{"last_name":"Kumar","first_name":"Jatin","full_name":"Kumar, Jatin"},{"full_name":"Krstić, Aleksa","last_name":"Krstić","first_name":"Aleksa"},{"full_name":"Saravi, Sina","first_name":"Sina","last_name":"Saravi"},{"first_name":"Frank","last_name":"Setzpfandt","full_name":"Setzpfandt, Frank"}],"publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-09-12T10:10:11Z","intvolume":" 114","date_created":"2026-09-12T10:08:24Z","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"975"}],"issue":"2","publication":"Physical Review A","abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"
We investigated the spectral properties of squeezed light generated via parametric down-conversion in the high-gain regime, considering both unapodized and apodized dispersion-engineered waveguides. The gain-dependent evolution of these states is examined starting from the low-gain regime, which includes both highly correlated and nearly uncorrelated cases. For the unapodized configuration, our simulated results show a monotonic increase in spectral purity with gain, whereas for some of the apodized configuration, they exhibit a nonmonotonic dependence, initially decreasing and then recovering at higher gain. By combining Schmidt-mode analysis with a group-velocity-based interpretation, we explain why different dispersion conditions exhibit distinct gain-dependent behavior, specifically that rapid purification occurs when the pump group velocity lies between those of the signal and idler. Our study shows that the evolution of spectral purity is governed primarily by the underlying dispersion of the waveguide. These results demonstrate that dispersion engineering and parametric gain can be jointly exploited to tailor the spectral-mode structure of squeezed-light sources, enabling their optimization for a broad range of quantum applications.
"}],"_id":"67133","publisher":"American Physical Society (APS)","user_id":"115260","volume":114,"status":"public","citation":{"short":"J. However, high manufacturing costs of monolithic components and material-specific defect susceptibility still hinder widespread industrial adoption. Within the collaborative project WerKo3D, the scaling, process qualification, and structural design of the novel tool steel Printium 13 were successfully investigated to lower market entry barriers for additive tooling applications. An industrial batch of 50 kg of Printium 13 powder was produced via vacuum inert gas atomization and thoroughly characterized. Utilizing a Design of Experiments (DoE) approach on an SLM 280 system, an optimized process window was established, yielding a relative density of about 99.99%. Subsequent heat treatment parameterizations revealed a superior mechanical property profile combining high hardness with enhanced impact toughness compared to conventional AISI H13 tool steel, alongside ultimate tensile strengths up to 1,600 MPa. To reduce build times and material consumption, a segmented shell-core tool design was conceptualized and numerically optimized via coupled CFD and FEM simulations. The functional demonstrator - a sprue insert for aluminum die casting - was additively manufactured without cracking, heat-treated, and finish-machined to final dimensions. Furthermore, a two-day training and knowledge-transfer program was realized to disseminate design guidelines to industry stakeholders. The findings validate the complete process chain from powder atomization to crack-free hybrid tool manufacturing."}],"series_title":"DATIpilot Modul 1 Innovationssprints; Sachbericht zum Verwendungsnachweis","language":[{"iso":"ger"}],"main_file_link":[{"open_access":"1","url":"https://oa.tib.eu/renate/handle/123456789/42242"}],"alternative_title":["Revolutionizing toolmaking through innovative design concepts and advanced tool steel for 3D printing"],"author":[{"full_name":"Marten, Thorsten","orcid":"0009-0001-6433-7839","first_name":"Thorsten","last_name":"Marten","id":"338"},{"last_name":"Hengsbach","first_name":"Florian","full_name":"Hengsbach, Florian"},{"id":"45189","first_name":"André","last_name":"Jungeilges","full_name":"Jungeilges, André"}],"title":"Werkzeugbau-Revolution mittels innovativem Konstruktionsdesign und neuartigem Werkzeugstahl für den 3D-Druck (WerKo3D)","year":"2026","date_updated":"2026-09-15T08:13:26Z","publication_status":"published"},{"article_number":"033303","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"10.1103/l939-jglf","year":"2026","title":"Near-bandgap harmonic generation in solids from multiple scattering revealed by complex quantum trajectories","publication_identifier":{"issn":["2643-1564"]},"author":[{"last_name":"Huo","first_name":"Xunqin","full_name":"Huo, Xunqin"},{"full_name":"Liu, Xiwang","first_name":"Xiwang","last_name":"Liu"},{"full_name":"Yang, Shidong","first_name":"Shidong","last_name":"Yang"},{"first_name":"Xiaohong","last_name":"Song","full_name":"Song, Xiaohong"},{"full_name":"Meier, Torsten","first_name":"Torsten","orcid":"0000-0001-8864-2072","last_name":"Meier","id":"344"},{"full_name":"Yang, Weifeng","first_name":"Weifeng","last_name":"Yang"}],"date_updated":"2026-09-15T06:51:05Z","publication_status":"published","intvolume":" 8","date_created":"2026-09-15T06:50:14Z","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"15"},{"_id":"170"},{"_id":"293"},{"_id":"230"},{"_id":"623"}],"publication":"Physical Review Research","issue":"3","abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"
\r\n High-harmonic generation in solids enables probing of strong-field electron dynamics in condensed matter and the development of compact ultrafast light sources. Here, we investigate near-bandgap harmonic generation in ZnO by combining semiconductor Bloch equations with a complex-time quantum-trajectory analysis. These estimates generalize well-known sharp upper bounds for classical one-variable Bessel functions and for spherical functions of Cartan motion groups. As a consequence, we prove that the representing measure of Dunkl's intertwining operator is absolutely continuous with respect to the Lebesgue measure for multiplicities $k> 1/2$ and generic spectral parameter.
