While its 2023 update has been shown to be consistent with food-based dietary guidelines in the countries in which it has been adopted, its application has not been investigated in a wider geographical area. The objective of this study was to describe the classification of products according to the Nutri-Score in a large number of European Union (EU) countries.\r\n\r\nMethods: Branded food composition from 14 European countries was obtained from Euromonitor. Food products were classified according to the Nutri-Score algorithm, based on their content in energy (kJ/100 g), saturated fats (g/100 g), sugars (g/100 g), salt (g/100 g), proteins (g/100 g), dietary fibres (g/100 g) and fruit, vegetables and legumes (%/100 g). The distribution of the 2023 and 2015 Nutri-Score classifications was described across countries and food categories.\r\n\r\nResults: Overall, classification according to the 2023 Nutri-Score was consistent across 408 399 products from 14 countries and consistent with food-based dietary guidelines: >90% of frozen fruit and vegetables or >95% pulses were classified in the more favourable classes of the Nutri-Score (A/B), while >90% of discretionary foods such as chocolate confectionery and sweet biscuits were classified in the less favourable classes (D/E). Cross-country differences in classification reflected underlying variability in nutrient composition of products (eg, salt content in refined breads ranged from 1.05 to 1.23 g/100 g across countries).\r\n\r\nConclusion: The Nutri-Score classification appeared consistent across a large geographical area, confirming its potential as an EU-wide front-of-package label. While some residual challenges remain for a limited number of specific product groups (eg, whole-grain pasta or rice), our findings indicate that the 2023 update represents a substantial improvement over the 2015 algorithm."}],"date_created":"2026-10-15T10:08:58Z","type":"journal_article","department":[{"_id":"22"}],"title":"Does the Nutri-Score 2023 algorithm provide consistent classification across European food supplies? Self-piercing riveting (SPR) is widely used in multi-material structures; however, conventional rivet systems are limited ranges of material and sheet thickness. To address this limitation, Kappe et al. introduced versatile self-piercing riveting (V-SPR), which combines an extended punch actuator with a multi-range-capable rivet to enable joining of materials with tensile strengths up to 600 MPa without tool changes.\r\n \r\n 1\r\n \r\n This study presents a comparative investigation of a multi-range-capable rivet for V-SPR and conventional standard rivets in CP1000–aluminium and aluminium–aluminium joints. The analysis focuses on joint formation and mechanical performance under shear-tensile and cross-tensile loading. Metallographic cross-sections are used to characterise interlock formation, minimum die-side material thickness, and failure modes. Mechanical performance is evaluated using quasi-static tests, with emphasis on maximum load and failure mode. The experiments establish a demonstrated joinability matrix for the investigated sheet-thickness combinations using adapted punch and die motions. The results demonstrate the applicability of V-SPR to ultra-high-strength steel–aluminium and aluminium–aluminium joints. For the most industrially relevant combination investigated, St1.5–Al2.0 (CP1000–EN AW-6014), V-SPR achieves mechanical performance comparable to or higher than that of standard SPR while substantially reducing tool complexity through a single multi-range-capable rivet, a reduced die configuration, and fewer stack-specific changeovers. However, the independently driven inner and outer punches and active die increase actuator and control-system complexity.\r\n
"}],"date_created":"2026-10-16T11:33:10Z","department":[{"_id":"43"},{"_id":"157"}],"type":"journal_article","publication_identifier":{"issn":["1464-4207","2041-3076"]},"author":[{"id":"44935","last_name":"Kaimann","first_name":"Pia Katharina","full_name":"Kaimann, Pia Katharina"},{"first_name":"J","last_name":"Sarris","full_name":"Sarris, J"},{"id":"38279","first_name":"Robert","last_name":"Beck","orcid":"0000-0001-9056-4528","full_name":"Beck, Robert"},{"full_name":"Bobbert, Mathias","last_name":"Bobbert","first_name":"Mathias","id":"7850"},{"full_name":"Lechner, M","first_name":"M","last_name":"Lechner"},{"id":"32056","orcid":"0000-0002-2763-1246","first_name":"Gerson","last_name":"Meschut","full_name":"Meschut, Gerson"}],"year":"2026","title":"Comparative study of multi-range-capable rivet and standard self-piercing rivets in aluminium-aluminium and ultra-high-strength steel-aluminium assemblies","date_updated":"2026-10-16T11:47:04Z","publication_status":"published","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"article_number":"14644207261497691","doi":"10.1177/14644207261497691"},{"intvolume":" 121","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-10-16T10:02:52Z","publication_identifier":{"issn":["2511-0896","0947-0085"]},"author":[{"full_name":"Gräßler, Iris","last_name":"Gräßler","orcid":"0000-0001-5765-971X","first_name":"Iris","id":"47565"},{"last_name":"Hesse","first_name":"Thomas","full_name":"Hesse, Thomas","id":"76202"},{"last_name":"Vollenkemper","first_name":"Felix","full_name":"Vollenkemper, Felix","id":"74028"},{"last_name":"Pottebaum","orcid":"http://orcid.org/0000-0001-8778-2989","first_name":"Jens","full_name":"Pottebaum, Jens","id":"405"}],"title":"Fähigkeitsgerechte Auslegung kreislaufgerechter Produkte","year":"2026","alternative_title":["Modell zur frühzeitigen Berücksichtigung benötigter Fähigkeiten für Remontage-orientierte Demontage- und Inspektionsprozesse"],"doi":"10.1515/zwf-2026-1120","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"main_file_link":[{"open_access":"1","url":"https://www.degruyterbrill.com/de/document/doi/10.1515/zwf-2026-1120/html"}],"abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"Kreislaufgerechte Produkte müssen de- und remontierbar entwickelt werden. As circular economy principles become essential in manufacturing, understanding production-centered capabilityr equirements is increasingly vital. While most metadata models focus on technical resources, existing human capability models either focus narrowly on human-robot collaboration or lack integration across diverse capability dimensions. This study conducts a systematic literature review following the PRISMA scheme, examining different scientific databases to develop a comprehensive, production-centered metadata model. The resulting model formalizes three fundamental classes as well as two supplemental classes for describing human resources while incorporating knowledge and possible legal requirements essential for production environments. The present article proposes a holistic integration of capabilities from a human factor perspective, with the objective of facilitating data science and artificial intelligence approaches to inform decisions in the product creation process. The developed metadata model provides the foundation for decision support systems that match human capabilities to specific production tasks and requirements, advancing circular manufacturing practices and sustainable production system design."}],"date_created":"2026-10-16T09:56:52Z","type":"conference","conference":{"start_date":"2026-03-24","location":"Paderborn","end_date":"2026-03-26"},"status":"public","_id":"67567","publisher":"Universitätsbibliothek","editor":[{"full_name":"Meinecke, tim","last_name":"Meinecke","first_name":"tim"}],"user_id":"76202","citation":{"apa":"Meinecke, T., Hesse, T., Gräßler, I., &#38; Schmidt, M. In this work, we introduce the design and simulation of a scalable on-chip grid of RISC-V processors with local memories in a structured EDA flow. We specify a Grid of Processing Cells (GPC) with two non-trivial software applications and successively generate and validate the hardware models at lower abstraction levels, namely TLM, ISS, RTL, and FPGA. Our comprehensive experimental evaluation of a physical implementation on an FPGA shows the true scalability of the GPC architecture. While existing works have indicated performance benefits for GPCs at high abstraction levels, our results confirm their highly reduced interconnect contention for the first time on fully constructed hardware with clock-cycle accuracy at RTL and on FPGAs."}],"citation":{"apa":"Luchterhandt, L., Govindasamy, V., Wang, Y., Dömer, R., Müller, W., &#38; Scheytt, C. Empirical studies demonstrate that while #fitspiration holds the potential to motivate adolescents to be physically active, it also perpetuates gender-stereotyped, predominantly White, ableist, and normative body ideals associated with fitness and an idealized weight. This trend can be linked to an increased risk of body image concerns or disordered eating among adolescents. Understanding adolescents’ engagement with fitspiration content is crucial for tailoring health and media literacy education within physical education. Therefore, a systematic review of qualitative and quantitative studies was conducted. A search of five electronic databases yielded 312 abstracts, of which 12 met the inclusion criteria. The analysis of the selected studies was based on thematic analysis and included both primary and secondary data. Seven analytical themes emerged: (1) 37–56% of adolescents actively engage with fitspiration content on social media; (2) it fulfills their need for informal and accessible participation; (3) it fosters a sense of social connection; (4) they derive inspiration from peers and influencers; (5) they aspire to idealized body standards; (6) they seek quick solutions when dissatisfied with their bodies; and (7) a few become demotivated and critical when unable to achieve these ideals. Consequently, educators should balance the potential benefits with media literacy interventions to mitigate risks such as body image issues and eating disorders.
"}],"publication":"German Journal of Exercise and Sport Research","citation":{"ieee":"E. Our purpose is to reflect on the benefits and limitations of video recall compared to another self-report method, ‘thinking-aloud’. To do so, we reveal empirical results from the application of video recall in three interdisciplinary research projects that applied the method for the qualitative and quantitative assessment of cognitive and behavioral phenomena in everyday explanations. In all three projects, video recall was applied as a post-hoc procedure following the recording of dyadic face-to-face explanations of board games. The design of the video recall procedure differed between individual projects because they pursued different research objectives – that is the investigation of (1) an interlocutor's multimodal signals of understanding, (2) the change in assumptions about an interlocutor's dispositional and situational knowledge, and (3) the differentiated assessment of an interlocutor's developing understanding of domain knowledge aspects by distinguishing between mechanistic and functional explanatory stances. By discussing the benefits and the limitations of each procedure, this article provides critical reflections on video recall as a versatile research method applied for the analysis of human multimodal behavior in interaction and cognitive processing.","lang":"eng"}],"project":[{"_id":"111","name":"TRR 318; TP A01: Adaptives Erklären"},{"_id":"112","name":"TRR 318; TP A02: Verstehensprozess einer Erklärung beobachten und auswerten"},{"_id":"114","name":"TRR 318; TP A04: Integration des technischen Modells in das Partnermodell bei der Erklärung von digitalen Artefakten"}],"publication":"Behavior Research Methods","citation":{"ama":"Lazarov ST, Schaffer M, Gladow V, Buschmeier H, Buhl HM, Grimminger A. An example of such micropollutants are natural and synthetic estrogen hormones. They are found everywhere in the aquatic environment at very low but dangerous concentrations. In this article, we demonstrate a supramolecular design principle for adsorption of such low‐concentrated estrogens onto tailored superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) enabling efficient magnetic water cleaning. We facilitate the adsorption by tuning the SPION surface with a binary self‐assembled monolayer (SAM) composed of two phosphonic acid derivatives: one serving as hydrophobic interaction site and the other improving water dispersibility of the system. Next to validating the concept in real river water, we conclude the demonstration of our nanomaterials by unveiling the estrogen‐SAM interaction at dilute conditions via synergistic combination of model systems, characterization techniques, and simulation. We experimentally deduce tight binding of estrogens combined with simulations that identify different, dynamic adsorption motifs at molecular space and time scale including a rare intercalation state, in which the hydrophobic pollutants minimize their contact to water. We believe that beyond our materials, these insights on the pollutant‐adsorbent interface underline the importance and potential of rational, molecular‐scale design of nano‐adsorbents.
","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Advanced Science","citation":{"bibtex":"@article{Müller_Maier_Vivod_Müller_Lopatik_Schichtl_Fröhlich_Kraus_Huck_Corts_et al._2026, title={Magnetic Water Cleaning of Estrogens via Tight yet Dynamic Binding to Nanoparticles}, DOI={<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1002/advs.77321\">10.1002/advs.77321</a>}, number={e77321}, journal={Advanced Science}, publisher={Wiley}, author={Müller, Lukas and Maier, Philip and Vivod, Dustin and Müller, Wenke and Lopatik, Nikolaj and Schichtl, Theresa Maria and Fröhlich, Julia and Kraus, Irene and Huck, Marten and Corts, Wieland and et al.}, year={2026} }","ama":"Müller L, Maier P, Vivod D, et al. While GCOs may strengthen market monitoring, they are also often suspected of destabilizing banks by triggering depositor runs. Our evidence is difficult to reconcile with that concern. Uninsured deposits begin to decline several quarters before the GCO, while insured deposits increase over the same period, leaving total deposits broadly stable around the opinion. This pattern suggests that more sophisticated depositors respond to timelier information than the annual audit report and shift from uninsured to insured funding before the GCO becomes public, whereas insured retail depositors do not exhibit large-scale withdrawals around the GCO. We also document that bank risk measures rise in the quarters leading up to the GCO and then stabilize and subsequently decline after the opinion. In addition, severe enforcement actions become more likely in the post-GCO period. Taken together, these patterns are consistent with an indirect supervisory channel that may help interpret the post-GCO change in risk-taking. Overall, our findings suggest that concerns about GCOs precipitating depositor runs may be overstated in the banking setting and that systematic auditor forbearance is not clearly justified on financial stability grounds."}],"date_created":"2026-10-05T08:55:36Z","department":[{"_id":"186"},{"_id":"944"}],"type":"journal_article","keyword":["banks","going concern opinions","market discipline","risk-taking","enforcement actions"]},{"author":[{"last_name":"Riepe","first_name":"Jan","orcid":"0000-0002-1413-4953","full_name":"Riepe, Jan","id":"86351"},{"full_name":"Krishnan, Gopal","first_name":"Gopal","last_name":"Krishnan"},{"first_name":"Alexander","last_name":"Liss","full_name":"Liss, Alexander"},{"full_name":"Mohrmann, Ulf","first_name":"Ulf","last_name":"Mohrmann"}],"status":"public","year":"2026","title":"Discretionary Impairments of Finite and Indefinite Intangible Assets","date_updated":"2026-10-21T08:54:01Z","_id":"67388","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"main_file_link":[{"url":"https://dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.4660302"}],"doi":"https://dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.4660302","user_id":"88603","citation":{"mla":"Riepe, Jan, et al. “Discretionary Impairments of Finite and Indefinite Intangible Assets.” <i>Accounting Horizon </i>, 2026, doi:<a href=\"https://dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.4660302\">https://dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.4660302</a>.","bibtex":"@article{Riepe_Krishnan_Liss_Mohrmann_2026, title={Discretionary Impairments of Finite and Indefinite Intangible Assets}, DOI={<a href=\"https://dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.4660302\">https://dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.4660302</a>}, journal={Accounting Horizon }, author={Riepe, Jan and Krishnan, Gopal and Liss, Alexander and Mohrmann, Ulf}, year={2026} }","ama":"Riepe J, Krishnan G, Liss A, Mohrmann U. Using hand-collected data on acquired intangible assets net amounts and their impairments, we exploit the different determinants of finite and indefinite intangible assets and goodwill to explore how impairment practices differ across categories. While indefinite intangible asset and goodwill impairments are largely explained by reporting quality indicators, we find only weak evidence between reporting quality and finite intangible asset impairments. In contrast, finite intangible asset impairments are explained by deteriorating business characteristics. Internal monitoring mechanisms strongly moderate the likelihood of timely impairments for indefinite intangibles and goodwill for firms that face impairment pressure, indicating the role of corporate governance in enhancing reporting quality. Our results are relevant for policymakers as they consider proposals to subsume intangible assets into goodwill as well as modifying impairment test procedures. We connect four complementary perspectives: (i) foundational hardware innovations, including heterogeneous 2.5D/3D integration and in-memory computing, that reduce the compute, memory, and energy footprint of billion- parameter models; (ii) extensible compiler infrastructures, built around MLIR, that bridge emerging in-memory hardware to real applications and automate design-space exploration; (iii) cross-layer and algorithmic techniques –quantization, sparsification, and dataflow optimization– that compress and accelerate large language models from the cloud to the edge; and (iv) token reduction methods, such as token merging and clustering, that attack the quadratic cost of the transformer attention mechanism at the model level.
