Empirical studies demonstrate that while #fitspiration holds the potential to motivate adolescents to be physically active, it also perpetuates gender-stereotyped, predominantly White, ableist, and normative body ideals associated with fitness and an idealized weight. This trend can be linked to an increased risk of body image concerns or disordered eating among adolescents. Understanding adolescents’ engagement with fitspiration content is crucial for tailoring health and media literacy education within physical education. Therefore, a systematic review of qualitative and quantitative studies was conducted. A search of five electronic databases yielded 312 abstracts, of which 12 met the inclusion criteria. The analysis of the selected studies was based on thematic analysis and included both primary and secondary data. Seven analytical themes emerged: (1) 37–56% of adolescents actively engage with fitspiration content on social media; (2) it fulfills their need for informal and accessible participation; (3) it fosters a sense of social connection; (4) they derive inspiration from peers and influencers; (5) they aspire to idealized body standards; (6) they seek quick solutions when dissatisfied with their bodies; and (7) a few become demotivated and critical when unable to achieve these ideals. Consequently, educators should balance the potential benefits with media literacy interventions to mitigate risks such as body image issues and eating disorders.
"}],"type":"journal_article","publication":"German Journal of Exercise and Sport Research","department":[{"_id":"17"},{"_id":"174"},{"_id":"320"}],"year":"2026","publication_status":"published","status":"public","date_updated":"2026-10-21T07:40:02Z","user_id":"85816","_id":"65444","author":[{"first_name":"Elke","full_name":"Grimminger-Seidensticker, Elke","last_name":"Grimminger-Seidensticker"},{"last_name":"Korte","full_name":"Korte, Johanna","first_name":"Johanna"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}]},{"volume":71,"date_created":"2026-10-21T07:28:13Z","title":"Body dissatisfaction among French and German sports science students – a cross-country comparison","article_number":"1610065","citation":{"short":"E. Our purpose is to reflect on the benefits and limitations of video recall compared to another self-report method, ‘thinking-aloud’. To do so, we reveal empirical results from the application of video recall in three interdisciplinary research projects that applied the method for the qualitative and quantitative assessment of cognitive and behavioral phenomena in everyday explanations. In all three projects, video recall was applied as a post-hoc procedure following the recording of dyadic face-to-face explanations of board games. The design of the video recall procedure differed between individual projects because they pursued different research objectives – that is the investigation of (1) an interlocutor's multimodal signals of understanding, (2) the change in assumptions about an interlocutor's dispositional and situational knowledge, and (3) the differentiated assessment of an interlocutor's developing understanding of domain knowledge aspects by distinguishing between mechanistic and functional explanatory stances. By discussing the benefits and the limitations of each procedure, this article provides critical reflections on video recall as a versatile research method applied for the analysis of human multimodal behavior in interaction and cognitive processing."}],"page":"29","project":[{"_id":"111","name":"TRR 318; TP A01: Adaptives Erklären"},{"_id":"112","name":"TRR 318; TP A02: Verstehensprozess einer Erklärung beobachten und auswerten"},{"name":"TRR 318; TP A04: Integration des technischen Modells in das Partnermodell bei der Erklärung von digitalen Artefakten","_id":"114"}],"title":"Retrospective video recall for analyzing cognitive processes in naturalistic explanations","citation":{"chicago":"Lazarov, Stefan Teodorov, Michael Schaffer, Viviane Gladow, Hendrik Buschmeier, Heike M. An example of such micropollutants are natural and synthetic estrogen hormones. They are found everywhere in the aquatic environment at very low but dangerous concentrations. In this article, we demonstrate a supramolecular design principle for adsorption of such low‐concentrated estrogens onto tailored superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) enabling efficient magnetic water cleaning. We facilitate the adsorption by tuning the SPION surface with a binary self‐assembled monolayer (SAM) composed of two phosphonic acid derivatives: one serving as hydrophobic interaction site and the other improving water dispersibility of the system. Next to validating the concept in real river water, we conclude the demonstration of our nanomaterials by unveiling the estrogen‐SAM interaction at dilute conditions via synergistic combination of model systems, characterization techniques, and simulation. We experimentally deduce tight binding of estrogens combined with simulations that identify different, dynamic adsorption motifs at molecular space and time scale including a rare intercalation state, in which the hydrophobic pollutants minimize their contact to water. We believe that beyond our materials, these insights on the pollutant‐adsorbent interface underline the importance and potential of rational, molecular‐scale design of nano‐adsorbents.
","lang":"eng"}]},{"abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"We investigate banks' risk-taking and deposit flows around first-time going concern opinions (GCOs). While GCOs may strengthen market monitoring, they are also often suspected of destabilizing banks by triggering depositor runs. Our evidence is difficult to reconcile with that concern. Uninsured deposits begin to decline several quarters before the GCO, while insured deposits increase over the same period, leaving total deposits broadly stable around the opinion. This pattern suggests that more sophisticated depositors respond to timelier information than the annual audit report and shift from uninsured to insured funding before the GCO becomes public, whereas insured retail depositors do not exhibit large-scale withdrawals around the GCO. We also document that bank risk measures rise in the quarters leading up to the GCO and then stabilize and subsequently decline after the opinion. In addition, severe enforcement actions become more likely in the post-GCO period. Taken together, these patterns are consistent with an indirect supervisory channel that may help interpret the post-GCO change in risk-taking. Overall, our findings suggest that concerns about GCOs precipitating depositor runs may be overstated in the banking setting and that systematic auditor forbearance is not clearly justified on financial stability grounds."}],"title":"Banks' Risk-Taking and Deposits Around Going Concern Opinions","citation":{"chicago":"Riepe, Jan, and Ulf Mohrmann. “Banks’ Risk-Taking and Deposits Around Going Concern Opinions.” <i>Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance</i>, 2026. <a href=\"https://dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.6334698\">https://dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.6334698</a>.","apa":"Riepe, J., &#38; Mohrmann, U. Using hand-collected data on acquired intangible assets net amounts and their impairments, we exploit the different determinants of finite and indefinite intangible assets and goodwill to explore how impairment practices differ across categories. While indefinite intangible asset and goodwill impairments are largely explained by reporting quality indicators, we find only weak evidence between reporting quality and finite intangible asset impairments. In contrast, finite intangible asset impairments are explained by deteriorating business characteristics. Internal monitoring mechanisms strongly moderate the likelihood of timely impairments for indefinite intangibles and goodwill for firms that face impairment pressure, indicating the role of corporate governance in enhancing reporting quality. Our results are relevant for policymakers as they consider proposals to subsume intangible assets into goodwill as well as modifying impairment test procedures. The waveguide structure is composed of I-shaped aluminum metamaterial constituents, placed periodically on a copper-quartz bilayer substrate in the propagation direction of an incident THz beam. The electric field vector is set along a I-shape design in the transverse direction of the meta-waveguide, leading to the excitation of a strong dipole resonance around the I-shaped meta-atom. The dipole resonance is quite sharp with high\r\n Q\r\n values due to the strong interaction of propagating THz wave with the metamaterial design, unlike traditional terahertz metatareials. The THz transmission response of the waveguide is numerically analyzed to study the dipole resonance, which shows the existence of two resonances due to near-field coupling. Furthermore, the excitation of these dipole resonances and their coupling behavior are confirmed by the electric field distribution of the meta-waveguide. Notably, these dipole resonances can be tuned across a range of frequencies which are integrated with the coupling mechanism, offering a practical route for realizing next-generation photonic devices. We also employ a semi-analytical coupled harmonic oscillator theory to understand the underlying physical mechanisms of the dipole resonators in meta-waveguides and to corroborate our numerically obtained transmission results. To produce biochar, ten different biomass feedstocks were sourced mostly from Austria. The feedstocks gathered were spruce chips; woodchips from broad-leaved forestry; wheat bran; Japanese knotweed; walnut shells; screening overflow from composting; and residues from Mary thistle, rapeseed, hemp, and poppy flower processing. These feedstocks were pyrolyzed at 500 and 700 °C under nitrogen (N2) atmosphere in a customized muffle furnace. The feedstocks were analyzed for their lignin, hemicellulose, cellulose, fat content, and other properties. Mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) was performed on the biochar samples, with the highest documented intruded volume being 3.64 cm3/g. Elemental recoveries in the biochar samples were determined and correlated with feedstock structural components (FSC). Additionally, the water solubility of biochar nutrient elements was determined, with K showing the highest solubility of 35.5 ± 18.5% at 700 °C. Elemental recoveries of C/H/N/Cl showed significant correlations with FSC (e.g., Cl showed a significant and strong negative correlation with cellulose, r = − 0.874/p < 0.01). Intruded volume as well as K solubility also showed significant correlations. These results indicate that feedstock structural components can serve as predictors for more biochar properties than currently used in the literature, although the limited sample size requires further research to confirm the findings presented here.","lang":"eng"}],"publisher":"Springer Science and Business Media LLC","year":"2026","intvolume":" 16","publication_status":"published","type":"journal_article","main_file_link":[{"url":"https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-026-61427-4","open_access":"1"}],"_id":"66546","author":[{"last_name":"Moser","full_name":"Moser, Konstantin","first_name":"Konstantin"},{"last_name":"Pfeifer","first_name":"Christoph","full_name":"Pfeifer, Christoph"},{"first_name":"Elisabeth","full_name":"Wopienka, Elisabeth","last_name":"Wopienka"},{"full_name":"Voglar, Jure","first_name":"Jure","last_name":"Voglar"},{"first_name":"Anže","full_name":"Prašnikar, Anže","last_name":"Prašnikar"},{"last_name":"Likozar","first_name":"Blaž","full_name":"Likozar, Blaž"},{"first_name":"Christian","full_name":"Weinberger, Christian","last_name":"Weinberger","id":"11848"},{"last_name":"Tiemann","orcid":"0000-0003-1711-2722","first_name":"Michael","full_name":"Tiemann, Michael","id":"23547"},{"last_name":"Çubuk","full_name":"Çubuk, Dilara","first_name":"Dilara"},{"last_name":"Haslinger","first_name":"Walter","full_name":"Haslinger, Walter"}],"date_created":"2026-07-20T08:03:28Z","volume":16,"citation":{"chicago":"Moser, Konstantin, Christoph Pfeifer, Elisabeth Wopienka, Jure Voglar, Anže Prašnikar, Blaž Likozar, Christian Weinberger, Michael Tiemann, Dilara Çubuk, and Walter Haslinger. “Exploring Feedstock Structural Components as Predictors for Physico-Chemical Biochar Properties.” <i>Scientific Reports</i> 16 (2026). <a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-026-61427-4\">https://doi.org/10.1038/s41598-026-61427-4</a>.","apa":"Moser, K., Pfeifer, C., Wopienka, E., Voglar, J., Prašnikar, A., Likozar, B., Weinberger, C., Tiemann, M., Çubuk, D., &#38; Haslinger, W. However, backchannels do not always transparently reflect the interlocutor's actual cognitive state. “Incongruent backchannels”, where the observable feedback implies understanding although there is no genuine understanding, are a potential source of ambiguity in any interaction. Using acoustic, head movement, and discourse-related data from 45 naturalistic dyadic interactions, we investigate whether incongruent and congruent backchannels show systematically different properties using a classification task. Results show that these backchannels are indeed separable based on multimodal features. Incongruent backchannels are typically characterised by more neutral head movement configurations and lower acoustic dynamism, while discursive cues strongly influence the classification. Overall, the findings suggest a relatively reduced effort in the signalling of incongruent backchannels.","lang":"eng"}],"project":[{"name":"TRR 318 - Projekt A02: Verstehensprozess einer Erklärung beobachten und auswerten","_id":"112"}],"quality_controlled":"1","doi":"10.21437/Interspeech.2026-713","user_id":"76456","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"date_updated":"2026-10-24T09:37:46Z","status":"public","publication":"Proceedings of INTERSPEECH 2026"},{"publisher":"Waxmann Verlag GmbH","publication_identifier":{"isbn":["9783818801694"]},"abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"
