The assessment of mechanically joined connections, such as clinched connections, is usually conducted destructively. Applicable non-destructive testing methods like computed tomography are time-consuming and costly, or, like electrical resistance measurement, provide only a limited amount of information. A fast, non-destructive evaluation of the joints condition shall be made possible by using transient dynamic analysis (TDA). It is based on the introduction of sound waves and the evaluation of the response behavior after passing through the structure. This study focuses the application of TDA to clinched shear connections to evaluate the performance of the tactile measuring setup. Twenty-one series were investigated, covering variations in joining task, manufacturing and defect. The evaluation was carried out using machine learning to determine for which series characteristic signals may be detected. It was shown that a classification of the investigated specimens is possible, whereby the classification accuracy depends on the examined variation. Furthermore, the accuracy was evaluated as a function of frequency and results were concluded to identify the limits of the used measuring setup.
","lang":"eng"}],"publisher":"Materials Research Forum LLC","date_created":"2025-04-10T11:27:20Z","title":"Transient dynamic analysis: Performance evaluation of tactile measurement","quality_controlled":"1","year":"2025","_id":"59483","project":[{"grant_number":"418701707","name":"TRR 285: TRR 285: Methodenentwicklung zur mechanischen Fügbarkeit in wandlungsfähigen Prozessketten","_id":"130"},{"_id":"133","name":"TRR 285 - C: TRR 285 - Project Area C"},{"_id":"148","name":"TRR 285 – C04: TRR 285 - Subproject C04"}],"department":[{"_id":"43"},{"_id":"157"}],"user_id":"98812","type":"conference","status":"public","date_updated":"2025-04-10T11:33:28Z","volume":52,"author":[{"full_name":"Reschke, Gregor","last_name":"Reschke","first_name":"Gregor"},{"first_name":"Alexander","last_name":"Brosius","full_name":"Brosius, Alexander"}],"doi":"10.21741/9781644903551-36","conference":{"location":"Paderborn","end_date":"2025-04-03","start_date":"2025-04-01","name":"21st SheMet Conference"},"publication_identifier":{"issn":["2474-395X"]},"publication_status":"published","page":"293-300","intvolume":" 52","citation":{"mla":"Reschke, Gregor, and Alexander Brosius. “Transient Dynamic Analysis: Performance Evaluation of Tactile Measurement.” Materials Research Proceedings, vol. 52, Materials Research Forum LLC, 2025, pp. 293–300, doi:10.21741/9781644903551-36.","short":"G. In this study, bioactive curcumin (CUM) derivatives were synthesized in a continuously operated microfluidic reactor (MFR), using piperidine-based polymeric networks as catalysts. Piperidine methacrylate and piperidine acrylate were synthesized and subsequently copolymerized with complementary monomers (MMA or DMAA) and crosslinkers (EGDMA or MBAM) via photopolymerization, yielding different polymeric networks. Initially, batch reactions were optimized for the organo-catalytic Knoevenagel condensation between CUM and 4-nitrobenzaldehyde, under various conditions, in the presence of polymer networks. Conversion was assessed using offline 1H NMR spectroscopy, revealing an increase in conversion with enhanced swelling properties of the polymer networks, which facilitated greater accessibility of catalytic sites. In continuous-flow MFR experiments, optimized polymer gel dots exhibited superior catalytic performance, achieving a conversion of up to 72%, compared to other compositions. This improvement was attributed to the enhanced swelling in the reaction mixture (DMSO/methanol, 7:3 v/v) at 40 °C over 72 h. Furthermore, the MFR system enabled the efficient synthesis of a series of CUM derivatives, demonstrating significantly higher conversion rates than traditional batch reactions. Notably, while batch reactions required 90% catalyst loading in the gel, the MFR system achieved a comparable or superior performance with only 50% catalyst, resulting in a higher turnover number. These findings underscore the advantages of continuous-flow organo-catalysis in enhancing catalytic efficiency and sustainability in organic synthesis.
","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Gels","keyword":["flow chemistry","heterogeneous catalysis","sustainable synthesis","organo-catalysis","polymeric gel dots"],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"year":"2025","issue":"4","title":"Synthesis of Curcumin Derivatives via Knoevenagel Reaction Within a Continuously Driven Microfluidic Reactor Using Polymeric Networks Containing Piperidine as a Catalyst","publisher":"MDPI AG","date_created":"2025-04-11T07:12:02Z","status":"public","type":"journal_article","article_number":"278","_id":"59510","user_id":"94","department":[{"_id":"163"}],"citation":{"mla":"Killi, Naresh, et al. “Synthesis of Curcumin Derivatives via Knoevenagel Reaction Within a Continuously Driven Microfluidic Reactor Using Polymeric Networks Containing Piperidine as a Catalyst.” Gels, vol. 11, no. 4, 278, MDPI AG, 2025, doi:10.3390/gels11040278.","bibtex":"@article{Killi_Rumpke_Kuckling_2025, title={Synthesis of Curcumin Derivatives via Knoevenagel Reaction Within a Continuously Driven Microfluidic Reactor Using Polymeric Networks Containing Piperidine as a Catalyst}, volume={11}, DOI={10.3390/gels11040278}, number={4278}, journal={Gels}, publisher={MDPI AG}, author={Killi, Naresh and Rumpke, Katja and Kuckling, Dirk}, year={2025} }","short":"N. However, the challenge is to develop active polymers that exhibit an antimicrobial effect and are compatible with human cells. Different studies aiming for biocidal polymers active in soluble mode, focused on the ratio of cationic to hydrophobic groups, while only marginal knowledge is available for immobilized components. Here a strong hydrophilic electrolyte 4‐vinylbenzyltrimethylammonium chloride (TMA) is chosen as the cationic component. The block composition of the polycationic segment is modified with styrene (Sty) regarding the amphiphilic balance. To adsorb such polymers onto titanium surfaces they are equipped with a polyphosphonic acid anchor block by sequential reversible‐addition‐fragmentation chain‐transfer polymerization (RAFT) polymerization. The polymer composition affected the wetting behavior of adsorbed coatings with water contact angles ranging from 17° to 72°, while zetapotential measurements confirmed high extent of positive charges for all adsorbed polymer coatings. The fundamentally modified block composition resulted in significantly improved cytocompatibility. Antimicrobial efficacy in early bacterial adhesion is still retained from slightly antiadhesive coatings to combined antiadhesive/biocidal activity depending on Sty/TMA ratio in random polymers while a block copolymer revealed lowest antimicrobial effect.
"}],"status":"public","publisher":"Wiley","date_updated":"2025-04-11T07:43:06Z","date_created":"2025-04-11T07:35:39Z","author":[{"last_name":"Wolf‐Brandstetter","full_name":"Wolf‐Brandstetter, Cornelia","first_name":"Cornelia"},{"full_name":"Methling, Rafael","last_name":"Methling","first_name":"Rafael"},{"last_name":"Kuckling","full_name":"Kuckling, Dirk","id":"287","first_name":"Dirk"}],"title":"Adsorbable and Antimicrobial Amphiphilic Block Copolymers with Enhanced Biocompatibility","main_file_link":[{"url":"https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1002/mame.202500078"}],"doi":"10.1002/mame.202500078","publication_status":"published","publication_identifier":{"issn":["1438-7492","1439-2054"]},"year":"2025","citation":{"mla":"Wolf‐Brandstetter, Cornelia, et al. “Adsorbable and Antimicrobial Amphiphilic Block Copolymers with Enhanced Biocompatibility.” Macromolecular Materials and Engineering, Wiley, 2025, doi:10.1002/mame.202500078.","bibtex":"@article{Wolf‐Brandstetter_Methling_Kuckling_2025, title={Adsorbable and Antimicrobial Amphiphilic Block Copolymers with Enhanced Biocompatibility}, DOI={10.1002/mame.202500078}, journal={Macromolecular Materials and Engineering}, publisher={Wiley}, author={Wolf‐Brandstetter, Cornelia and Methling, Rafael and Kuckling, Dirk}, year={2025} }","short":"C. This study tests some of its design features to determine whether\r\nelicited beliefs and related behaviours vary depending on i) the time of elicitation (before vs after the\r\ndecision), ii) incentivizing vs not incentivizing a question about normative expectations, and iii)\r\nquestioning subjects on their beliefs about the action of interest alone or combined with an alternative\r\naction. An online experiment is conducted via Prolific comprising a dictator game and the elicitation of\r\nfairness beliefs. A pretest reveals that applying role uncertainty does not alter beliefs and behaviours\r\ncompared to a baseline treatment without it. Subsequently, three treatments are implemented. Contrary\r\nto previous studies, results indicate that varying the time of elicitation does not significantly alter the\r\nmoney-share decision. However, incentivizing the question about normative expectations significantly\r\nincreases the fit with the actual majority norm. Finally, asking about a fair share and an unfair share\r\ninstead of only about fair sharing does not alter personal normative beliefs or normative expectations,\r\nbut it increases the empirical expectations that other dictators have provided a fair share.","lang":"eng"}],"status":"public","file":[{"creator":"splass","date_created":"2025-04-11T13:57:11Z","date_updated":"2025-04-11T13:57:11Z","file_name":"ssrn-5201614.pdf","access_level":"open_access","file_id":"59519","file_size":617905,"content_type":"application/pdf","relation":"main_file"}],"type":"working_paper","keyword":["Social Norms","Normative Expectations","Elicitation","Economic Experiment"],"ddc":["330"],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"file_date_updated":"2025-04-11T13:57:11Z","_id":"59518","user_id":"34502","year":"2025","citation":{"ama":"Plaß S. Variations in the Two-Step Norm Elicitation Procedure.; 2025.","ieee":"S. Its relevance is theoretically established and empirically shown multiple times. PCK has therefore been analyzed continuously in education research, currently with a particular emphasis on its impact on the quality of teaching and directly on learning outcomes. However, there is still a lack of detailed empirically backed descriptions of the intricacies of PCK and of methodologies for translating developed PCK assessment procedures based on open-ended questionnaires into educational practice. In this dissertation project, therefore, three objectives are pursued, based on a dataset of 846 responses to a physics PCK test instrument. First, cross-project PCK competency levels are explored based on item response modeling. Second, non-hierarchical PCK competency profiles are described based on (probabilistic) cluster and text analyses. Third, a fully automated FDW assessment system based on Machine Learning is developed. In particular, cognitive requirement categories were considered as subscales of the test instrument used. The assessment system was evaluated based on these and other subscales, as well as the assignment of respondents to the competency profiles, and demonstrated high performance values both in relation to inter-rater agreement and in absolute terms.","lang":"eng"}],"status":"public","type":"dissertation"},{"article_number":"126","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"_id":"59599","user_id":"62569","abstract":[{"lang":"eng","text":"Background: Agility is crucial in game sports, requiring both motor and cognitive skills. Athletes must perceive and process information to adapt movements, yet traditional agility tests often lack cognitive and multidirectional demands. Additionally, modern test systems are mostly stationary. This study evaluated the novel and portable “Functional Agility Square Test” (FAST) for validity, reliability, and usefulness. Methods: To assess discriminant validity, 22 game sports (GS) and 22 non-game sports (NGS) athletes participated in one session. Test–retest reliability was examined with 36 GS athletes (20 female) across three sessions. Participants performed cognitive (FAST_COG), preplanned (FAST_MOT), and randomized (FAST_SAT) reactive change-of-direction tasks, each repeated three times per session. Results: Results showed significantly lower response times (RTs) in GS compared to NGS (p < 0.05). Mean RTs indicated moderate relative reliability (ICC 0.50–0.74), while medians showed moderate to good reliability (ICC 0.59–0.83). Usefulness was evident from the first session (FAST_MOT) or from the third session (FAST_SAT) based on median RTs. Conclusions: Thus, the FAST seems to be valid, reliable, and sensitive for GS-based agility assessment. Its portable setup enables ecologically valid field testing. Future research should further increase task complexity to better simulate game conditions.
"}],"status":"public","publication":"Journal of Functional Morphology and Kinesiology","type":"journal_article","title":"Validation, Reliability, and Usefulness of the Functional Agility Square Test [FAST]","doi":"10.3390/jfmk10020126","publisher":"MDPI AG","date_updated":"2025-04-16T09:19:31Z","volume":10,"date_created":"2025-04-16T09:15:59Z","author":[{"last_name":"Müller","full_name":"Müller, Romina Desiree","id":"62569","first_name":"Romina Desiree"},{"first_name":"Daniel","last_name":"Büchel","id":"41088","full_name":"Büchel, Daniel"},{"last_name":"Baumeister","orcid":"0000-0003-2683-5826","id":"46","full_name":"Baumeister, Jochen","first_name":"Jochen"}],"year":"2025","intvolume":" 10","citation":{"ieee":"R.
