Concretely, given a loop on the object boundary, a disk‐topology cut surface bounded by the loop is constructed in the interior. In contrast to various previous approaches, both disk topology and conformance to the prescribed loop are ensured by construction, while supporting not only contractible but also incontractible loops on the boundaries of manifold objects of higher genus and arbitrary non‐trivial topology. We describe an implementation of this algorithm in the discrete setting, with triangle mesh cut surfaces embedded in tetrahedral mesh objects. Making use of this novel cutting algorithm, we describe a method for the reliable construction of bijective volumetric maps between solid objects, demonstrating the algorithm's utility. This mapping method overcomes restrictions of the state of the art to topological balls, extending coverage to objects of arbitrary genus, specifically so‐called\r\n 1\r\n ‐handlebodies.\r\n
"}],"date_created":"2026-05-05T08:15:52Z","department":[{"_id":"969"}],"type":"journal_article"},{"department":[{"_id":"35"},{"_id":"302"},{"_id":"321"}],"type":"journal_article","date_created":"2026-05-05T06:04:19Z","citation":{"mla":"Golebiowska, Sandra Alicja, et al. “Two-Electrode Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy at Polymer/Oxide Interfaces.” <i>International Journal of Adhesion and Adhesives</i>, vol. 149, 104360, Elsevier BV, 2026, doi:<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ijadhadh.2026.104360\">10.1016/j.ijadhadh.2026.104360</a>.","bibtex":"@article{Golebiowska_Meinderink_Ebbert_Kollmann_Neßlinger_Grundmeier_2026, title={Two-electrode electrochemical impedance spectroscopy at polymer/oxide interfaces}, volume={149}, DOI={<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ijadhadh.2026.104360\">10.1016/j.ijadhadh.2026.104360</a>}, number={104360}, journal={International Journal of Adhesion and Adhesives}, publisher={Elsevier BV}, author={Golebiowska, Sandra Alicja and Meinderink, Dennis and Ebbert, Christoph and Kollmann, Sabrina and Neßlinger, Vanessa and Grundmeier, Guido}, year={2026} }","ama":"Golebiowska SA, Meinderink D, Ebbert C, Kollmann S, Neßlinger V, Grundmeier G. The present study seeks to enhance the understanding of the relation between two forms of interactive gaze behavior – gaze aversions and mutual gaze – and the topical development in the explanatory discourse. To do so, we analyzed 24 dyadic board game explanations in which one explainer subsequently explained a board game to three different explainees while the board game was physically absent from the shared space. The main objective of the present study was to investigate the relation of gaze aversions and mutual gaze to the topical development of explanations. For this, based on previous research (Lazarov et al., 2024; Rossano, 2012) we hypothesized that (1) gaze aversions are more likely to be associated with topic changes than topic continuations, and that (2) mutual gaze is more likely to be associated with topic continuations than topic changes. In addition, we explored how the two forms of gaze behavior are related to the interlocutor who initiates a topic change or continuation. Our proportional analysis using a Generalized linear mixed effects model revealed that gaze aversions are related to topic changes initiated by both interlocutors. In contrast, the analysis did not reveal a significant relation between mutual gaze and topic continuations, which could be explained by the feedback elicitation function of mutual gaze at the end of speakers’ utterances (Bavelas et al., 2002; Brône et al., 2017; Kendon, 1967) while monitoring the addressees’ understanding (Clark &amp; Krych, 2004) and the complexity of the analyzed fixed and random effects.
"}],"date_created":"2026-05-05T14:19:47Z","department":[{"_id":"660"}],"type":"journal_article","publication_identifier":{"issn":["0191-5886","1573-3653"]},"author":[{"first_name":"Stefan Teodorov","orcid":"0009-0009-0892-9483","last_name":"Lazarov","full_name":"Lazarov, Stefan Teodorov","id":"90345"},{"id":"57578","full_name":"Grimminger, Angela","last_name":"Grimminger","first_name":"Angela"}],"status":"public","title":"How are Gaze Aversions and Mutual Gaze Related to the Topical Development of Dyadic Explanatory Interactions?","year":"2026","date_updated":"2026-05-05T14:23:30Z","publication_status":"published","_id":"65565","publisher":"Springer Science and Business Media LLC","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"10.1007/s10919-026-00512-8","user_id":"90345"},{"issue":"23","publication":"Proceedings of the AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence","abstract":[{"text":"
We introduce the notion of contrastive ABox explanations to answer questions of the type “Why is a an instance of C, but b is not?”. Specifically, we examine three linguistic cues related to cognitive load and hypothesised to correlate with listener understanding: the information value (operationalised with surprisal) and syntactic complexity of the speaker's utterances, and the variation in the listener's interactive gaze behaviour. Based on statistical analyses of the MUNDEX corpus of face-to-face dialogic board game explanations, we find that individual cues vary with the listener's level of understanding. Listener states (‘Understanding’, ‘Partial Understanding’, ‘Non-Understanding’ and ‘Misunderstanding’) were self-annotated by the listeners using a retrospective video-recall method. The results of a subsequent classification experiment, involving two off-the-shelf classifiers and a fine-tuned German BERT-based multimodal classifier, demonstrate that prediction of these four states of understanding is generally possible and improves when the three linguistic cues are considered alongside textual features."}],"date_created":"2026-03-13T17:59:22Z","type":"conference","department":[{"_id":"660"}],"status":"public","conference":{"location":"Palma, Mallorca, Spain","name":"15th Biennial Language Resources and Evaluation Conference","start_date":"2026-05-11","end_date":"2026-05-16"},"page":"11368-11378","_id":"64914","publisher":"ELRA","user_id":"76456","citation":{"apa":"Wang, Y., Türk, O., Grimminger, A., &#38; Buschmeier, H. In this context, the suitability of quantum walks as the interferometric base for universal computation has been theoretically proven. In this work, we bridge the gap between theoretical proposals and state-of-the-art experimental capabilities by providing the recipe for the implementation of a universal photonic processor in discrete-time quantum walks. Specifically, we present the protocol for translating arbitrary linear transformations into the coin and step operator of a quantum walk and map these to the experimental parameters of the established time-multiplexed platform [A. Schreiber , Phys. Rev. Lett. , 050502 (2010)]. We show that our interface is highly scalable and resource efficient due to the hybrid encoding consisting of multiple degrees of freedom. With both an algebraic interpretation via the intersection of a polynomial with a set of lines, and a geometric interpretation via a (q+1)-set possessing an internal nucleus, the concepts have proved their usefulness as a new way to view various long-standing problems, and have applications in areas such as Kakeya sets. In this paper, by exploiting connections with diverse areas including the theory of algebraic curves, cyclotomy and the enumeration of irreducible polynomials, we establish new results and resolve various Open Problems of Li and Pott. We prove geometric results which shed new light on the relationship between intersection distribution and projective equivalence of polynomials, and algebraic results which describe and characterise the degree of Sf - the index of the largest non-zero entry in the intersection distribution of f. We provide new insights into the non-hitting spectrum, and show the limitations of the non-hitting index as a tool for characterisation. Finally, the benefits provided by the connections to other areas are evidenced in two short new proofs of the cubic case. To reduce the time and cost associated with extensive experimental investigations, numerical modeling strategies are increasingly applied. In this numerical study, a further step in the modelling strategy for the direct pin-pressing (DPP) process of cFRTP and metal sheets is presented. The study focuses on modeling and simulating the occurring deformation mechanisms of decomposition, compaction, and separation of individual rovings on the mesoscale to analyze the resulting material structure. For this purpose, two simplified models were derived. The textile architecture is represented based on micrographs of cross-sections and discretized using the finite element method. The deformation of individual rovings during joining leads to a deformation of their initial elliptical cross section. To capture this level of resolution, both a cohesive zone and a pure contact approach are applied within the rovings. The highly viscous thermoplastic melt is modeled as a fluid employing the Arbitrary Lagrange–Eulerian (ALE) method. Matrix and roving meshes are coupled to account for fluid–structure interaction (FSI) during process. The study shows that coupling of matrix and rovings is necessary to obtain more accurate predictions of the deformation behaviour. Furthermore, the cohesive zone approach is better suited to simulate the emerging deformation mechanisms.
"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"doi":"10.4028/p-e8wywr","publication_identifier":{"issn":["1662-9795"]},"author":[{"full_name":"Gröger, Benjamin","last_name":"Gröger","first_name":"Benjamin"},{"full_name":"Gerritzen, Johannes","first_name":"Johannes","orcid":"0000-0002-0169-8602","last_name":"Gerritzen","id":"105344"},{"last_name":"Hornig","first_name":"Andreas","full_name":"Hornig, Andreas"},{"last_name":"Gude","first_name":"Maik","full_name":"Gude, Maik"}],"title":"Modelling Deformation Mechanisms Decomposition, Separation and Compaction in Mechanical Joining Processes of Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastics on Meso Scale","year":"2026","intvolume":" 1050","date_updated":"2026-05-07T15:10:16Z","publication_status":"published","citation":{"short":"B. However, integrating these discounted sales into future demand forecasts presents a significant challenge. This study investigates the effectiveness of incorporating a fixed share of these sales as \\textit{regular} demand into the forecast, as commonly applied in practice. We employ a two-step regression approach on data from a major European grocery retailer, covering over 1,700 products across 676 stores. We reveal that forecasts underestimate actual demand for most SKUs when discounted sales occur. This residual uplift effect is significantly influenced by the number of sales at reduced prices. Our findings underscore the necessity for more precise approaches to integrate discounted sales into demand forecasts, thereby preventing excess inventory and the associated economic and environmental impacts of spoilage in the grocery sector."}],"publication":"arXiv:2602.04464"},{"citation":{"ieee":"K. TETRISC was introduced as a resilient multicore RISC-V processor system based on the PULPissimo platform. This paper presents the migration of TETRISC to the Rocket Chip SoC, which is freely scalable to the number of processors through parametrizable Chisel models. As such, we discuss and evaluate the main advantages and obstacles that come with the Chipyard framework for RTL simulation and FPGA synthesis for the rapid prototyping of resilient, scalable architectures that are online configurable through software for different multicore and lock-step modes."}],"place":"Potsdam","date_created":"2026-01-27T13:14:51Z","department":[{"_id":"58"}],"keyword":["RISC-V","Multicore","Fault Tolerant","TETRISC","Chisel","Chipyard"],"type":"conference","conference":{"end_date":"2026-02-24","start_date":"2026-02-22","name":"38.
