Firstly, the reuse of products, individual parts and material reduces the need for new production or generation and the associated consumption of energy and resources. Secondly, it helps to avoid the generation of waste. Early consideration of circular economic principles in product development processes is essential to specifically promote reuse, reparability and recycling. Efficient recycling of assemblies requires well-defined strategies. However, various challenges hinder the efficiency of technical recycling processes in industrial applications. This paper presents an Ishikawa (fishbone) diagram-based approach to systematically identify and categorize these influences. The method is implemented within an industrial framework, highlighting key obstacles such as material composition, design constraints, use of technology, framework conditions, economic limitations and regulatory challenges. By applying a scenario analysis, this approach examines potential future developments and their impact on recycling-oriented design choices. This helps to identify critical influencing factors and supports the development of resilient and sustainable industrial practices. This framework will serve as the foundation for developing an automated approach to circular design, enabling industries to more effectively integrate sustainability into their processes and adapt to changing environmental demands."}],"file":[{"creator":"kathiroh","date_created":"2026-02-24T13:33:47Z","date_updated":"2026-02-24T13:33:47Z","relation":"main_file","access_level":"closed","file_size":333257,"file_name":"GCSM_2025_Rohde_updated.pdf","success":1,"content_type":"application/pdf","file_id":"64617"}],"date_created":"2026-02-24T13:36:06Z","type":"conference","department":[{"_id":"741"}],"year":"2026","title":"Unveiling Barriers to Recycling with a Focus on Design: An Ishikawa Diagram-Based Approach with Industrial Application","author":[{"last_name":"Rohde","first_name":"Katharina","orcid":"0009-0000-5738-7304","full_name":"Rohde, Katharina","id":"70143"},{"last_name":"Gonzalez","first_name":"Barbara Fernandez","full_name":"Gonzalez, Barbara Fernandez"},{"last_name":"Budde","first_name":"Finn Lukas","full_name":"Budde, Finn Lukas","id":"74585"},{"id":"44204","first_name":"Manuel","last_name":"Ott","full_name":"Ott, Manuel"},{"first_name":"Iryna","last_name":"Mozgova","full_name":"Mozgova, Iryna","id":"95903"},{"full_name":"Mendibe, Alain Alonso","first_name":"Alain Alonso","last_name":"Mendibe"}],"publication_identifier":{"eisbn":["978-3-032-21157-6"]},"publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-07-06T08:12:40Z","intvolume":" 1","main_file_link":[{"open_access":"1"}],"language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"series_title":"Lecture Notes in Mechanical Engineering","doi":"https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-032-21157-6_43"},{"quality_controlled":"1","file_date_updated":"2026-07-06T07:16:35Z","citation":{"mla":"Rohde, Katharina, et al. “Digital Product Passports and the Challenge of Product Structure Granularity: A Decision-Making Framework for the Level of DPP Integration.” <i>Proceedings of the Design Society</i>, vol. 6, Cambridge University Press, 2026, pp. 1511–20, doi:<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1017/pds.2026.10509\">https://doi.org/10.1017/pds.2026.10509</a>.","bibtex":"@inproceedings{Rohde_Budde_Patrício_Ferreira_Gonçalves_Ott_Mozgova_2026, title={Digital product passports and the challenge of product structure granularity: A decision-making framework for the level of DPP integration}, volume={6}, DOI={<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1017/pds.2026.10509\">https://doi.org/10.1017/pds.2026.10509</a>}, booktitle={Proceedings of the Design Society}, publisher={Cambridge University Press}, author={Rohde, Katharina and Budde, Finn Lukas and Patrício, Bárbara and Ferreira, Tânia and Gonçalves, Ana and Ott, Manuel and Mozgova, Iryna}, year={2026}, pages={1511–1520} }","ama":"Rohde K, Budde FL, Patrício B, et al. While Internet shutdowns happen regularly, insights into these shutdowns are notoriously difficult to obtain: their timing is hard to predict, and measurements are often impossible. In this paper, we present unique measurements surrounding Iran’s 2025 Internet shutdown in June, which we acquired during a regular analysis of Iran’s censorship apparatus. We contextualize our findings of Iranian DNS, HTTP, TLS, and QUIC censorship during the shutdown with measurements from platforms such as Cloudflare Radar and user reports. Our measurements show that Iranian censorship changed before and after the shutdown, marking preparation and recovery periods. For instance, QUIC censorship went into effect before and stayed in effect after the shutdown, while DNS over TCP censorship was only present briefly before the shutdown and resumed working afterwards. We also measured general network instabilities, especially for UDP, after the shutdown and the disabling of certain middleboxes. Our findings indicate that the Iranian censor enforced its shutdown using fine-grained techniques instead of relying on an all-or-nothing blackout. We advertise for continued measurements of the Iranian censor and hypothesize that future shutdowns in censoring countries could be detected during their preparation phase."}],"file_date_updated":"2026-07-05T20:08:45Z","citation":{"mla":"Anonymous, Anonymous, et al. <i>Insights into an Iranian Internet Shutdown</i>. 2026.","ama":"Anonymous A, Niere N, Graf Lange F, Somorovsky J. With the rising adoption of the QUIC protocol, these censors have been forced to evolve their systems. Russia introduced sweeping changes to its censorship after its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, including completely blocking international QUIC connections. However, after this broad filter was identified in 2022, Russian QUIC censorship received little attention: The current state of QUIC censorship by TSPU devices is largely unknown. In this paper, we provide a timeline of Russian QUIC censorship and detail its current state. We identify that Russian TSPU devices switched to SNI-dependent QUIC censorship on a large scale between May 2022 and July 2023, a fact that went largely unnoticed for three years. While the GFW was previously thought to be the first censor with broad SNI-dependent QUIC censorship, we highlight that Russian TSPU devices broadly adopted SNI-dependent QUIC censorship at least nine months before the GFW. We consider this an indicator of the TSPU devices’ flexibility and of Russia’s willingness to invest in strict and up-to-date censorship.","lang":"eng"}],"file_date_updated":"2026-07-05T20:04:24Z","citation":{"ama":"Heitmann N, Niere N, Graf Lange F, Somorovsky J. Focusing on the most important private firms operating in U.S. industries, we investigate whether private peer disclosure—despite differing substantially from public firm disclosure—is incorporated into analysts’ forecasts. In a cross-sectional analysis, we document lower forecast quality in industries where private peers’ disclosure intensity is low. In contrast, when private peers’ disclosure intensity is high, forecast quality does not differ from that in industries with only public peers. We find consistent results for a subsample of U.S. private peers. Consistent with this interpretation, a difference-in-differences analysis documents increased analyst forecast activity around the disclosure dates of private peers. Together, these findings indicate that analysts incorporate private peers’ information when these peers are both economically important and sufficiently transparent, and highlight that variation in private firms’ disclosure intensity generates heterogenous externalities for public firms. Overall, our evidence supports a cost-benefit trade-off in analysts’ information acquisition, and, by documenting the relevance of private peers’ information for public firms, contributes to the debate on the externalities of private firms’ disclosure transparency."}],"citation":{"short":"B. In most of its experiments, ICO has been investigated in a photonic platform. Here, we investigate ICO in a cavity quantum electrodynamics system composed of two cavities. Our results show that ICO can create highly entangled states of two distant cavity fields that never interact directly independent of the initial (excited or ground) state of the atom. These entangled states can have the form of one- or two-photon NOON states. We show that ICO can interchange one photon between both cavities without changing the state of the atom, something that is impossible to achieve for two cavities in well-defined order. Furthermore, the vacuum Rabi oscillations either disappear or lose their sinusoidal form with ICO. Our results show the potential that ICO can offer in the paradigm of light-matter interaction for coherently controlling atom-field observables.
"}],"issue":"2","publication":"Physical Review Research","doi":"10.1103/wgr6-1g5m","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"article_number":"023295","article_type":"original","intvolume":" 8","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-06-29T08:11:13Z","publication_identifier":{"issn":["2643-1564"]},"author":[{"full_name":"Castaños-Cervantes, Luis Octavio","first_name":"Luis Octavio","last_name":"Castaños-Cervantes"},{"first_name":"Lorenzo M.","last_name":"Procopio","full_name":"Procopio, Lorenzo M."},{"last_name":"Bartley","first_name":"Tim J.","full_name":"Bartley, Tim J."}],"title":"Indefinite causal order in cavity quantum electrodynamics","year":"2026","citation":{"ama":"Castaños-Cervantes LO, Procopio LM, Bartley TJ. These needs are—according to Ainscow’s (2007) inclusive turn—not primarily ‘special educational needs’, but diverse needs of all learners. For the rather segregated German educational system, this endeavour applies especially to primary education, where needs are still developing and pupils are not yet assigned to different types of schooling according to their needs and abilities.\r\n\r\nDespite a substantial amount of research on pupils’ basic psychological needs for autonomy, competence and social relatedness (Ryan et al., 2022), strategies that technology education teachers apply in this regard are not yet well understood. Besides interventional studies on technology education, indicating effectiveness of self‑directed and action‑oriented teaching and learning, there is a dearth of research on how teachers address different needs as a routine.\r\n\r\nThe purpose of the presented study is therefore to investigate and systematize actions and strategies teachers apply, and to specify how pupils' needs are considered when teaching technology education on a given topic.\r\n\r\nThe overall study used a mixed-methods approach to the question how pupils’ needs are characterized by themselves and by their teachers, and how they were taken into account in a lesson adapted and delivered by the teachers. In the sub-study presented here, participating primary school teachers were interviewed about their consideration of pupils’ needs whilst planning and conducting a technology education unit on the functionality of robots.\r\n\r\nThe results gained from qualitative content analysis of the interviews indicate that although the anticipation of different needs is considered challenging, teachers possess a substantiate amount of practices and strategies to take them into account.\r\n\r\nThe paper systematizes the practices teachers described in structured interviews within strategies and discusses the contribution of taking basic needs into account for inclusive technology education.","lang":"eng"}],"publication":"Linköping Electronic Conference Proceedings","alternative_title":["On Teachers’ Practices and Strategies to Teach Technology Inclusively at Primary Level"],"doi":"10.3384/ecp213.1455","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"main_file_link":[{"url":"https://ecp.ep.liu.se/index.php/patt/article/view/1455","open_access":"1"}],"intvolume":" 218","date_updated":"2026-06-30T13:09:02Z","publication_status":"published","publication_identifier":{"issn":["1650-3686","1650-3740"]},"author":[{"full_name":"Schröer, Franz","first_name":"Franz","last_name":"Schröer"},{"last_name":"Tenberge","first_name":"Claudia","full_name":"Tenberge, Claudia"}],"title":"“They Really Need to Handle, Inspect, and Experience Things”","year":"2026","oa":"1","quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"mla":"Schröer, Franz, and Claudia Tenberge. “‘They Really Need to Handle, Inspect, and Experience Things.’” <i>Linköping Electronic Conference Proceedings</i>, vol. 218, Linköping University Electronic Press, 2026, doi:<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.3384/ecp213.1455\">10.3384/ecp213.1455</a>.","ama":"Schröer F, Tenberge C. “They Really Need to Handle, Inspect, and Experience Things.” In: <i>Linköping Electronic Conference Proceedings</i>. By immobilizing the glycopeptide antibiotic vancomycin on DONs, DON binding to Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria can be facilitated. Here, we investigate how this multivalent binding is affected by the number and arrangement of the vancomycin modifications on two‐dimensional DONs. We find that for both Gram‐positive\r\n Bacillus subtilis\r\n and Gram‐negative\r\n Escherichia coli\r\n , binding increases with the number of vancomycin modifications per DON. In general, binding to\r\n E. coli\r\n is stronger than to\r\n B. subtilis\r\n , which may be attributed to differences in the architectures of the cell envelopes. Interestingly, for both bacteria, the total number of vancomycin modifications appears to be more important than their arrangement, as DONs with 18 vancomycin molecules on one side show similar binding as DONs with 18 vancomycin molecules distributed over both sides. In fact, its operation, combined with single qubit rotations allows to realise any quantum circuit. Several strategies have been adopted in order to build quantum gates. Among them, photonics offers the dual advantage of excellent isolation from the environment and ease of manipulation at the single qubit level. Here we adopt a scalable time-multiplexed approach in order to build a fully reconfigurable architecture capable of implementing a post-selected C-NOT gate with a fidelity of (93.8 ± 1.4)%. We then show how our time-multiplexed platform can be employed to combine a C-NOT and a single qubit gate in order to generate the four Bell states.","lang":"eng"}]},{"citation":{"chicago":"Kononova, Anna V., Niki van Stein, Olaf Mersmann, Thomas Bäck, Thomas Bartz-Beielstein, Tobias Glasmachers, Michael Hellwig, et al. “Benchmarking That Matters: Rethinking Benchmarking in Continuous Optimisation for Practical Impact.” In <i>Applications of Evolutionary Computation - 29th European Conference, EvoApplications 2026, Held as Part of EvoStar 2026, Toulouse, France, April 8-10, 2026, Proceedings, Part II</i>, edited by Pablo García-Sánchez, Josefa Díaz lvarez, and Aidan Murphy, 16525:327–344. Our work studies the representation of them in language models using three fine-tuning strategies. The models are trained on three dialogue corpora in English and Japanese, where backchannels and fillers are preserved and annotated, to investigate how fine-tuning can help LMs learn their representations. We first apply clustering analysis to the learnt representation of backchannels and fillers, and have found increased silhouette scores in representations from fine-tuned models, which suggests that fine-tuning enables LMs to distinguish the nuanced semantic variation in different backchannel and filler use. We also use natural language generation (NLG) metrics and qualitative analysis to confirm that the utterances generated by fine-tuned language models resemble human-produced utterances more closely. Our findings suggest the potentials of transforming general LMs into conversational LMs that are more capable of producing human-like languages adequately."}],"publication":"Proceedings of the 64th Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics","department":[{"_id":"660"}],"type":"conference","date_created":"2025-09-25T19:00:23Z","publication_status":"published","date_updated":"2026-07-01T19:43:27Z","author":[{"full_name":"Wang, Yu","last_name":"Wang","first_name":"Yu"},{"first_name":"Leyi","last_name":"Lao","full_name":"Lao, Leyi"},{"last_name":"Huang","first_name":"Langchu","full_name":"Huang, Langchu"},{"full_name":"Skantze, Gabriel","last_name":"Skantze","first_name":"Gabriel"},{"full_name":"Xu, Yang","first_name":"Yang","last_name":"Xu"},{"id":"76456","last_name":"Buschmeier","first_name":"Hendrik","orcid":"0000-0002-9613-5713","full_name":"Buschmeier, Hendrik"}],"year":"2026","title":"Investigating the representation of backchannels and fillers in fine-tuned language models","doi":"10.18653/v1/2026.acl-long.241","language":[{"iso":"eng"}],"main_file_link":[{"url":"https://doi.org/10.48550/arXiv.2509.20237","open_access":"1"}],"project":[{"name":"TRR 318; TP A02: Verstehensprozess einer Erklärung beobachten und auswerten","_id":"112"}],"quality_controlled":"1","citation":{"ieee":"Y.
