AB - We introduce the concept of a k-token signed graph and study some of its combinatorial and algebraic properties. We prove that two switching isomorphic signed graphs have switching isomorphic token graphs. Moreover, we show that the Laplacian spectrum of a balanced signed graph is contained in the Laplacian spectra of its k-token signed graph. Besides, we introduce and study the unbalance level of a signed graph, which is a new parameter that measures how far a signed graph is from being balanced. Moreover, we study the relation between the frustration index and the unbalance level of signed graphs and their token signed graphs.

AB - AbstractBackgroundReal‐world problems are important in math instruction, but they do not necessarily trigger students' task motivation. Personalizing real‐world problems by (1) matching problems to students' shared living environment (context personalization) and (2) asking students to pose their own problems (active personalization) might be two interventions to increase students' task motivation.AimIn the current study, we investigated the effects of context personalization and active personalization on students' self‐efficacy expectations, intrinsic value, attainment value, utility value, and cost.SampleThe participants were 28 fifth‐ and sixth‐grade students who voluntarily took part in a six‐month afterschool program in which they posed problems with the aim of creating a math walk in their hometown.MethodUsing a within‐subjects design, at the end of the afterschool program, the students rated their self‐efficacy expectations and task values for four self‐developed problems associated with their hometown, four peer‐developed problems associated with their hometown, and four instructor‐provided problems associated with unfamiliar locations.ResultsStudents reported higher self‐efficacy expectations, intrinsic value, attainment value, and utility value for active‐personalized than non‐personalized problems. To a lesser extent, context personalization promoted intrinsic value and attainment value. No effect was found for cost.ConclusionsActive personalization (i.e. asking students to pose their own real‐world problems) is suited to enhance students' task motivation, specifically their self‐efficacy expectations, intrinsic value, attainment value, and utility value. Context personalization still boosts students' intrinsic value and attainment value. Implementation in classroom instruction is discussed.

AB - Abstract
Lithium niobate has emerged as a promising platform for integrated quantum optics, enabling efficient generation, manipulation, and detection of quantum states of light. However, integrating single-photon detectors requires cryogenic operating temperatures, since the best performing detectors are based on narrow superconducting wires. While previous studies have demonstrated the operation of quantum light sources and electro-optic modulators in LiNbO3 at cryogenic temperatures, the thermal transition between room temperature and cryogenic conditions introduces additional effects that can significantly influence device performance. In this paper, we investigate the generation of pyroelectric charges and their impact on the optical properties of lithium niobate waveguides when changing from room temperature to 25 K, and vice versa. We measure the generated pyroelectric charge flow and correlate this with fast changes in the birefringence acquired through the Sénarmont-method. Both electrical and optical influence of the pyroelectric effect occur predominantly at temperatures above 100 K.

AB - Despite the fundamental role the Quantum Satisfiability (QSAT) problem has
played in quantum complexity theory, a central question remains open: At which
local dimension does the complexity of QSAT transition from "easy" to "hard"?
Here, we study QSAT with each constraint acting on a $k$-dimensional and
$l$-dimensional qudit pair, denoted $(k,l)$-QSAT. Our first main result shows
that, surprisingly, QSAT on qubits can remain $\mathsf{QMA}_1$-hard, in that
$(2,5)$-QSAT is $\mathsf{QMA}_1$-complete. In contrast, $2$-SAT on qubits is
well-known to be poly-time solvable [Bravyi, 2006]. Our second main result
proves that $(3,d)$-QSAT on the 1D line with $d\in O(1)$ is also
$\mathsf{QMA}_1$-hard. Finally, we initiate the study of 1D $(2,d)$-QSAT by
giving a frustration-free 1D Hamiltonian with a unique, entangled ground state.
Our first result uses a direct embedding, combining a novel clock
construction with the 2D circuit-to-Hamiltonian construction of [Gosset, Nagaj,
2013]. Of note is a new simplified and analytic proof for the latter (as
opposed to a partially numeric proof in [GN13]). This exploits Unitary Labelled
Graphs [Bausch, Cubitt, Ozols, 2017] together with a new "Nullspace Connection
Lemma", allowing us to break low energy analyses into small patches of
projectors, and to improve the soundness analysis of [GN13] from
$\Omega(1/T^6)$ to $\Omega(1/T^2)$, for $T$ the number of gates. Our second
result goes via black-box reduction: Given an arbitrary 1D Hamiltonian $H$ on
$d'$-dimensional qudits, we show how to embed it into an effective null-space
of a 1D $(3,d)$-QSAT instance, for $d\in O(1)$. Our approach may be viewed as a
weaker notion of "simulation" (\`a la [Bravyi, Hastings 2017], [Cubitt,
Montanaro, Piddock 2018]). As far as we are aware, this gives the first
"black-box simulation"-based $\mathsf{QMA}_1$-hardness result, i.e. for
frustration-free Hamiltonians.

AB - The Polynomial-Time Hierarchy ($\mathsf{PH}$) is a staple of classical
complexity theory, with applications spanning randomized computation to circuit
lower bounds to ''quantum advantage'' analyses for near-term quantum computers.
Quantumly, however, despite the fact that at least \emph{four} definitions of
quantum $\mathsf{PH}$ exist, it has been challenging to prove analogues for
these of even basic facts from $\mathsf{PH}$. This work studies three
quantum-verifier based generalizations of $\mathsf{PH}$, two of which are from
[Gharibian, Santha, Sikora, Sundaram, Yirka, 2022] and use classical strings
($\mathsf{QCPH}$) and quantum mixed states ($\mathsf{QPH}$) as proofs, and one
of which is new to this work, utilizing quantum pure states
($\mathsf{pureQPH}$) as proofs. We first resolve several open problems from
[GSSSY22], including a collapse theorem and a Karp-Lipton theorem for
$\mathsf{QCPH}$. Then, for our new class $\mathsf{pureQPH}$, we show one-sided
error reduction for $\mathsf{pureQPH}$, as well as the first bounds relating
these quantum variants of $\mathsf{PH}$, namely $\mathsf{QCPH}\subseteq
\mathsf{pureQPH} \subseteq \mathsf{EXP}^{\mathsf{PP}}$.

AB - AbstractFootball is one of the most played sports in the world and kicking with adequate accuracy increases the likelihood of winning a competition. Although studies with different target-directed movements underline the role of distinctive cortical activity on superior accuracy, little is known about cortical dynamics associated with kicking. Mobile electroencephalography is a popular tool to investigate cortical modulations during movement, however, inherent and artefact-related pitfalls may obscure the reliability of functional sources and their activity. The purpose of this study was therefore to describe consistent cortical dynamics underlying target-directed pass-kicks based on test–retest reliability estimates. Eleven participants performed a target-directed kicking task at two different sessions within one week. Electroencephalography was recorded using a 65-channel mobile system and behavioural data were collected including motion range, acceleration and accuracy performance. Functional sources were identified using independent component analysis and clustered in two steps with the components of first and subsequently both sessions. Reliability estimates of event-related spectral perturbations were computed pixel-wise for participants contributing with components of both sessions. The parieto-occipital and frontal clusters were reproducible for the same majority of the sample at both sessions. Their activity showed consistent alpha desyhronization and theta sychnronisation patterns with substantial reliability estimates revealing visual and attentional demands in different phases of kicking. The findings of our study reveal prominent cortical demands during the execution of a target-directed kick which may be considered in practical implementations and provide promising academic prospects in the comprehension and investigation of cortical activity associated with target-directed movements.

Abstract
The article presents a qualification format for multi-professional actors in the educational context on the developmental use of 'Selbstinszenierungspraktiken' (which means a combination of practices for self-awareness, self-realisation and self-acceptance in a process which we are developing in our project). The concept and development of the further education format is located within the framework of a research and development project for young people with wide-ranging needs in pre-vocational education units at the transition from school to work. They will be supported in recognizing, documenting and showing their strengths through open and creative self-expression and survey formats, as well as being strengthened for the transition from school to work.
First, we present the project framework and clarify the approach by a theoretical grounding of ‚Selbstinszenierung‘ (similar to a combination of self-awareness, self-realisation and self-acceptance) as well as its potentials in the context of inclusive vocational education by strengthening the target group. The developed framework provides a basis for the adaptation of the concept to a specific location or educational programme and highlights challenges and qualification needs for actors in the educational context. We present the conceptual basis, the methodological and content-related design of the collegial training approach on the developmental use of 'Selbstinszenierungspraktiken'. We address the interaction of innovative development, clarification of roles and competence development of actors in the educational context. Finally, we discuss the conceptual developments and the implementation and transfer approach.

AB - Context
Static analyses are well-established to aid in understanding bugs or vulnerabilities during the development process or in large-scale studies. A low false-positive rate is essential for the adaption in practice and for precise results of empirical studies. Unfortunately, static analyses tend to report where a vulnerability manifests rather than the fix location. This can cause presumed false positives or imprecise results.
Method
To address this problem, we designed an adaption of an existing static analysis algorithm that can distinguish between a manifestation and fix location, and reports error chains. An error chain represents at least two interconnected errors that occur successively, thus building the connection between the fix and manifestation location. We used our tool CogniCryptSUBS for a case study on 471 GitHub repositories, a performance benchmark to compare different analysis configurations, and conducted an expert interview.
Result
We found that 50 % of the projects with a report had at least one error chain. Our runtime benchmark demonstrated that our improvement caused only a minimal runtime overhead of less than 4 %. The results of our expert interview indicate that with our adapted version participants require fewer executions of the analysis.
Conclusion
Our results indicate that error chains occur frequently in real-world projects, and ignoring them can lead to imprecise evaluation results. The runtime benchmark indicates that our tool is a feasible and efficient solution for detecting error chains in real-world projects. Further, our results gave a hint that the usability of static analyses may benefit from supporting error chains.

AB - A series of substituted ferrocenyl boron derivatives was synthesized. The oxidation of the ferrocenyl unit resulted in a significant increase of the boron‐centered Lewis acidity. The neutral and cationic Lewis acids were characterized by NMR‐spectroscopy, crystal structure analysis and by computational methods. The new Lewis acids were then applied in the Meinwald rearrangement of epoxides, predominantly furnishing aldehydes as the kinetic products.

AB - ABSTRACT
OBJECTIVE:
The aim of this analysis was to investigate whether habitual intake of total dairy (TD) or different dairy types (liquid, solid, fermented, not-fermented, low-fat, high-fat, low-sugar and high-sugar dairy) during adolescence is associated with biomarkers of low-grade inflammation as well as risk factors of type 2 diabetes in young adulthood.
DESIGN:
Multivariable linear regression analyses were used to investigate prospective associations between estimated TD intake as well as intake of different types of dairy and a pro-inflammatory score, based on hsCRP, IL-6, IL-18, leptin and adiponectin, and insulin resistance assessed as HOMA2-IR in an open cohort study.
SETTING:
Dortmund, Germany
PARTICIPANTS:
Data from participants (n=375) of the DOrtmund Nutritional and Anthropometric Longitudinally Designed (DONALD) study were included, for whom at least two 3-day weighed dietary records during adolescence (median age: 11 years) and one blood sample in young adulthood (>18 years) were available.
RESULTS:
There was no statistically significant association between TD intake or intake of any dairy type and the pro-inflammatory score (all p>0.05). TD intake as well as each dairy type intake and insulin resistance also showed no association (all p>0.05).
CONCLUSIONS:
The habitual intake of dairy or individual types of dairy during adolescence does not seem to have a major impact on low-grade systemic inflammation and insulin resistance in the long term. There was no indication regarding a restriction of dairy intake for healthy children and adolescents in terms of diabetes risk reduction.

AB - I distinsuish three ways in which early modern rationalists seek to apply the principle to empirical science. Previous readings have neglected how these thinkers assume substantive theories of explanation and intelligibility in many of their deployments of this rationalist principle. I argue that Leibniz, Du Châtelet, and Euler are all vulnerable to the objection that they deploy their standards of intelligibility inconsistently: their own favored explanations do not always live up to the standard. This chapter also defends more particular interpretive claims about these thinkers, for example arguing against Jeff McDonough’s anti-realist reading of Leibniz on laws of nature.

AB - Android applications collecting data from users must protect it according to the current legal frameworks. Such data protection has become even more important since the European Union rolled out the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Since app developers are not legal experts, they find it difficult to write privacy-aware source code. Moreover, they have limited tool support to reason about data protection throughout their app development process.
This paper motivates the need for a static analysis approach to diagnose and explain data protection in Android apps. The analysis will recognize personal data sources in the source code, and aims to further examine the data flow originating from these sources. App developers can then address key questions about data manipulation, derived data, and the presence of technical measures. Despite challenges, we explore to what extent one can realize this analysis through static taint analysis, a common method for identifying security vulnerabilities. This is a first step towards designing a tool-based approach that aids app developers and assessors in ensuring data protection in Android apps, based on automated static program analysis.

AB - As a case study, this chapter examines two tax education films that were produced 11 years apart in the USA and Western Germany during and after World War II: “The New Spirit” and “Putzke wants to know”. In contrast to America's most popular cartoon character 11 years earlier, Erwin Putzke is in a terrible mood at the beginning of the short film “Putzke wants to know”. The family father and electrician with a workshop of his own is annoyed and upset by the duty of filling in his tax return, grumbling at his wife and daughter and even at their budgie. The film's tax morale message is conveyed to its audience against the backdrop of a sober post-war reality characterised by allied occupation and the Allies' say in West German tax policies during a period of laborious economic build-up after a lost war.
