text: "Abstract\r\n A scoring list is
a sequence of simple decision models, where features are incrementally evaluated
and scores of satisfied features are summed to be used for threshold-based decisions
or for calculating class probabilities. In this paper, we introduce a new multi-class
variant and compare it against previously introduced binary classification variants
for incremental decisions, as well as multi-class variants for classical decision-making
using all features. Furthermore, we introduce a new multi-class dataset to assess
collaborative human-machine decision-making, which is suitable for user studies
with non-expert participants. We demonstrate the usefulness of our approach by
evaluating predictive performance and compared to the performance of participants
without AI help."

text: AbstractControlling the surface orientation
of DNA origami nanostructures (DON) is crucial for applications in nanotechnology
and materials science. While previous work utilized various DON modifications,
simple methods for controlling their landing orientation remain scarce. Here,
we demonstrate a straightforward approach to control the adsorption orientation
of chiral double‐L (CDL) DON on mica by tuning magnesium ion (Mg2⁺)
concentration and exploiting global shape distortions. Using atomic force microscopy
(AFM), we analyzed the resulting distribution of the mirror‐image orientations,
referred to as S and Z orientations, at both buffer/mica and air/mica interfaces
and identified conditions resulting in homogenous CDL orientation of 100% S. These
results demonstrate how DON conformation and ionic environments influence DON
orientation, offering insights for precise nanostructure deposition.

text: "Abstract\r\n The effect of corrosion
on mechanically joined components is not well understood. While recent research
shows that a brief exposure of clinched specimens to a salt spray environment
improves the specimens’ fatigue life, other research shows a decrease in load
bearing capabilities with increasing corrosion times. These studies primarily
focus on galvanic corrosion. It is not entirely clear how other corrosion phenomena,
such as pitting corrosion, affect the fatigue life of clinched joints. In this
work, a numerical model is used, which is able to simulate corrosion pit growth
in EN AW-6014. The experimental polarization data of EN AW-6014 are used directly
in the calculation of the interface kinetics parameter of the model."

text: Abstract. Saving emissions and a circular economy are key aspects
of sustainable production and compliance global climate change targets. Friction-induced
solid-state recycling of aluminum scrap to production endless semi-finished products.
Scrap is fed into a continuously rotating wheel. This requires less energy compared
to heat-based recycling processes. Different sizes, shapes and surfaces of chips
can be used as starting material in the process. The influence of this has been
shown in past publications. A native oxide layer is a fixed component of aluminum
surface. This layer is broken up during the forming process, allowing the aluminum
to bond. In addition to the geometry, the surface finishes and the thickness of
the oxide layer are therefore also important input variables in friction-induced
solid-state recycling. The oxide layers on the chips were determined for the investigation.
In addition, different layer thicknesses were produced to survey their influence.
The resulting semi-finished products were evaluated on the basis of their tensile
strength and microstructure. The main result of the investigations is the fact
that semi-finished products made from chips with thicker oxide layers tend to
be more brittle. In addition, thick oxide layers cause microstructural and surface
defects.

text: In this paper we introduce, in a Hilbert space setting, a second order dynamical
system with asymptotically vanishing damping and vanishing Tikhonov regularization
that approaches a multiobjective optimization problem with convex and differentiable
components of the objective function. Trajectory solutions are shown to exist
in finite dimensions. We prove fast convergence of the function values, quantified
in terms of a merit function. Based on the regime considered, we establish both
weak and, in some cases, strong convergence of trajectory solutions toward a weak
Pareto optimal solution. To achieve this, we apply Tikhonov regularization individually
to each component of the objective function. This work extends results from single
objective convex optimization into the multiobjective setting.

classes in the range from #P to\r\n \r\n
\ \\({\\text{#}\\!\\cdot\\!\\text{NP}}\\)\r\n
\ \r\n . The proof of Fagin’s characterization
of NP by existential second-order logic generalizes to the counting setting in
the following sense: The class #P can be logically described as the class of functions
counting satisfying assignments to free relation variables in first-order formulae.
This was first observed by Saluja et al. (1995). In this paper we extend this
study to classes beyond #P and extensions of first-order logic with team semantics.
These team-based logics are closely related to existential second-order logic
and its fragments, hence our results also shed light on the complexity of counting
for extensions of first-order logic in Tarski’s semantics. Our results show that
the class\r\n \r\n \\({\\text{#}\\!\\cdot\\!\\text{NP}}\\)\r\n
\ \r\n can be logically characterized
by independence logic and existential second-order logic, whereas dependence logic
and inclusion logic give rise to subclasses of\r\n \r\n \\({\\text{#}\\!\\cdot\\!\\text{NP}}\\)\r\n
\ \r\n and #P , respectively. We further
relate the class obtained from inclusion logic to the complexity class\r\n \r\n \\({\\text{TotP}} \\subseteq{\\text{#P}}\\)\r\n

that anger is a prevalent emotion in human-technology interactions, often leading
to frustration, rejection and reduced trust, significantly impacting user experience
and acceptance of technology. Particularly in high-risk or uncertain situations,
where AI explanations are intended to help users make more informed decisions,
decision-making is influenced by emotional factors, impairing understanding and
leading to suboptimal choices. While XAI research continues to evolve, greater
consideration of users’ emotions and individual characteristics remains necessary.
Broadening empirical studies in this area could foster a more comprehensive understanding
of decision-making processes following explanations, especially in relation to
the interaction between emotions and cognition. In response, this study seeks
to contribute to this area by employing an experimental design to examine the
effects of AI explanations and emotion regulation on user reliance and trust of
emotional users. The results provide a foundation for future human-centered research
in XAI, focusing on the impact of emotions and cognition in human-technology interactions."

text: 'Unintended consequences in Information Systems (IS) research are typically
examined only after they have surfaced in practice, often treated as isolated
instances rather than being systematically identified and understood. This reactive
stance constrains our ability to anticipate risks, recognize emerging opportunities,
and build cumulative insights across studies. To assess the current state of IS
research on unintended consequences, we conducted a scoping review of literature
in the Association for Information Systems'' Senior Scholars'' Basket of Journals.
Our review highlights significant gaps in how unintended consequences are defined,
theorized, and systematically compared. To address these gaps, we propose three
foundational considerations: (1) conceptual clarity, to refine definitions and
delineate boundaries; (2) relational configurations, to analyze the interplay
between actors, technologies, and contexts; and (3) temporal configurations, to
capture the evolving nature of consequences over time. Building on these dimensions,
we introduce a set of guiding questions designed to provide shared analytical
vocabulary rather than a prescriptive framework. These questions enable researchers
to more systematically identify, categorize, and compare unintended consequences
across contexts, thereby fostering theoretical precision, facilitating cross-contextual
learning, and supporting a more anticipatory and comprehensive understanding of
the phenomenon.'
