  text: "Purpose\r\nAcademic research has intensively analyzed the relationship between
    market concentration or market power and banking stability but provides ambiguous
    results, which are summarized under the concentration-stability/fragility view.
    We provide empirical evidence that the mixed results are due to the difficulty
    of identifying reliable variables to measure concentration and market power.\r\n\r\nDesign/methodology/approach\r\nUsing
    data from 3,943 banks operating in the European Union (EU)-15 between 2013 and
    2020, we employ linear regression models on panel data. Banking market concentration
    is measured by the Herfindahl–Hirschman Index (HHI), and market power is estimated
    by the product-specific Lerner Indices for the loan and deposit market, respectively.\r\n\r\nFindings\r\nOur
    analysis reveals a significantly stability-decreasing impact of market concentration
    (HHI) and a significantly stability-increasing effect of market power (Lerner
    Indices). In addition, we provide evidence for a weak (or even absent) empirical
    relationship between the (non)structural measures, challenging the validity of
    the structure-conduct-performance (SCP) paradigm. Our baseline findings remain
    robust, especially when controlling for a likely reverse causality.\r\n\r\nOriginality/value\r\nOur
    results suggest that the HHI may reflect other factors beyond market power that

    are defined by their internal electric field and charge density distributions
    which so far are difficult to measure with high spatial resolution. Especially
    for 2D materials, the atomic electric fields influence the optoelectronic properties.
    In this study, the atomic‐scale electric field and charge density distribution
    of WSe<jats:sub>2</jats:sub> bi‐ and trilayers are revealed using an emerging
    microscopy technique, differential phase contrast (DPC) imaging in scanning transmission
    electron microscopy (STEM). For pristine material, a higher positive charge density
    located at the selenium atomic columns compared to the tungsten atomic columns
    is obtained and tentatively explained by a coherent scattering effect. Furthermore,
    the change in the electric field distribution induced by a missing selenium atomic
    column is investigated. A characteristic electric field distribution in the vicinity
    of the defect with locally reduced magnitudes compared to the pristine lattice
    is observed. This effect is accompanied by a considerable inward relaxation of
    the surrounding lattice, which according to first principles DFT calculation is
    fully compatible with a missing column of Se atoms. This shows that DPC imaging,
    as an electric field sensitive technique, provides additional and remarkable information
    to the otherwise only structural analysis obtained with conventional STEM imaging.</jats:p>

  text: Leaky mode resonances of the setae of Cataglyphis bombycina are found to enhance
    the thermal emission of the animals by near field coupling to the chitinous exoskeleton.
    This is remarkable, as the setae are also an adaption to enhance the reflectivity
    in the visible wavelength range. Both effects are dependent on morphology, dimensions
    and spatial arrangement. These parameters were experimentally characterized and
    simulated by finite difference time domain simulations to elucidate the optical
    impact of the setae in the mid infrared range and the contribution of leaky mode
    resonances. This mode of action and the setae’s optical properties in the visible
    range explain evolutionary strains that led to the actual morphology and size
    of the setae.

  text: Die Verankerung von Inklusion als Querschnittsthema lehramtsbezogener Studiengänge
    fordert zu einer interdisziplinären Verständigung über die Vorstellung inklusiver
    Unterrichtsgestaltung heraus. Die ForscherInnengruppe der Universität Paderborn
    wählt hierfür als methodischen Ausgangspunkt Vignetten als verdichtete Fallbeispiele
    aus der Unterrichtspraxis, die aus verschiedenen fachübergreifenden praxistheoretischen
    Perspektiven gelesen und so gemeinsam diskutiert werden. In der Linie praxistheoretischer
    Arbeiten reflektiert das Buch Praktiken im inklusiven Fachunterricht in der Spannung
    zu den normativen (sonder-)pädagogischen bzw. (fach-)didaktischen Vorannahmen,
    um aus dieser Reflexion eigenes verantwortetes Handeln zu entwickeln. Die Vignettenbündel
    laden so zum diskursiven Austausch, zur Kontrastierung oder zum "Einfangen" selbst
    erlebter Unterrichtspraxen auf dem Weg des Verstehens von Inklusion in Theorie
    und Praxis ein.
