text: Sparsity is a highly desired feature in deep neural networks (DNNs) since
it ensures numerical efficiency, improves the interpretability of models (due
to the smaller number of relevant features), and robustness. In machine learning
approaches based on linear models, it is well known that there exists a connecting
path between the sparsest solution in terms of the $\ell^1$ norm,i.e., zero weights
and the non-regularized solution, which is called the regularization path. Very
recently, there was a first attempt to extend the concept of regularization paths
to DNNs by means of treating the empirical loss and sparsity ($\ell^1$ norm) as
two conflicting criteria and solving the resulting multiobjective optimization
problem. However, due to the non-smoothness of the $\ell^1$ norm and the high
number of parameters, this approach is not very efficient from a computational
perspective. To overcome this limitation, we present an algorithm that allows
for the approximation of the entire Pareto front for the above-mentioned objectives
in a very efficient manner. We present numerical examples using both deterministic
and stochastic gradients. We furthermore demonstrate that knowledge of the regularization
path allows for a well-generalizing network parametrization.

text: "The Koopman operator has become an essential tool for data-driven analysis,
prediction and control of complex systems, the main reason being the enormous
potential of identifying linear function space representations of nonlinear\r\ndynamics
from measurements. Until now, the situation where for large-scale systems, we
    (i) only have access to partial observations (i.e., measurements, as is very common
for experimental data) or (ii) deliberately perform coarse\r\ngraining (for efficiency
reasons) has not been treated to its full extent. In this paper, we address the
pitfall associated with this situation, that the classical EDMD algorithm does
not automatically provide a Koopman operator approximation for the underlying
system if we do not carefully select the number of observables. Moreover, we show
that symmetries in the system dynamics can be carried over to the Koopman operator,
which allows us to massively increase the model efficiency. We also briefly draw
a connection to domain decomposition techniques for partial differential equations
and present numerical evidence using the Kuramoto--Sivashinsky equation."

text: We utilize extreme learning machines for the prediction of partial differential
equations (PDEs). Our method splits the state space into multiple windows that
are predicted individually using a single model. Despite requiring only few data
points (in some cases, our method can learn from a single full-state snapshot),
it still achieves high accuracy and can predict the flow of PDEs over long time
horizons. Moreover, we show how additional symmetries can be exploited to increase
sample efficiency and to enforce equivariance.

text: This research investigates how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be systematically
integrated into existing business processes by combining suitable competencies
with graphical AI workflow modelling. While AI offers a high potential for automation
and increased efficiency, its implementation often fails due to a lack of interdisciplinary
competencies that bridge the gap between domain expertise and IT know-how. Low-code
platforms and visual modelling tools are increasingly recognised as enablers,
empowering non-programmers to intuitively create graphical AI- based workflows.
Nevertheless, specific competencies are required to realise the full potential
of AI, the domain specific knowledge and align technical understanding with AI
capabilities. The paper reviews the state of the art in AI-driven business process
automation and competencies for visual low-code approaches. It then presents a
practical solution to identify and systematise essential competence areas. Based
on this, a practical competence model is developed to support the design of user-friendly,
AI-enabled workflows. This is tested in a practical application context — emergency
management — where it supports critical decision-making processes and is validated
through expert feedback. The study concludes by offering actionable recommendations
to help organisations foster the necessary competencies and methods for competently
integrating AI into their digital processes.

text: 'Artificial intelligence (AI) is driving transformative changes across numerous
fields, revolutionizing conventional processes and creating new opportunities
for innovation. The development of mechatronic systems is undergoing a similar
transformation. Over the past decade, modeling, simulation, and optimization techniques
have become integral to the design process, paving the way for the adoption of
AI-based methods. In this paper, we examine the potential for integrating AI into
the engineering design process, using the V-model from the VDI guideline 2206,
considered the state-of-the-art in product design, as a foundation. We identify
and classify AI methods based on their suitability for specific stages within
the engineering product design workflow. Furthermore, we present a series of application
examples where AI-assisted design has been successfully implemented by the authors.
These examples, drawn from research projects within the DFG Priority Program \emph{SPP~2353:
Daring More Intelligence - Design Assistants in Mechanics and Dynamics}, showcase
a diverse range of applications across mechanics and mechatronics, including areas
    such as acoustics and robotics.'

text: Technological advancements and evolving value orientations reshape future
value creation and pose new requirements for service innovation. While a variety
of disciplines are developing new approaches to drive service innovation, this
is primarily done in isolation and generates only fragmented solutions. Sociological
theory has proposed “boundary objects” as an effective umbrella for communication
and cooperation among communities. Therefore, we introduce continuous value shaping
(CVS) as a boundary object describing service innovation approaches along five
principles. We reflect on this concept through the different disciplinary lenses
of researchers in service marketing, information systems, service engineering,
sociology of work, and innovation management. These perspectives highlight how
the CVS principles already connect to discourses within the individual disciplines.
However, the CVS concept will not only provide an umbrella to embrace existing
activities in different academic disciplines. It also assists to identify research
themes that will benefit from uniting the power of these disciplines, and it can
serve as an integrating framework to conceptualize complex service innovation
approaches. Thus, the CVS concept should guide both researchers and practitioners
to develop and implement novel innovation and transformation efforts—in and across
    organizations.

  text: "
\r\n Releasing jobs and performing scheduling decisions
in real-time operating systems (RTOSes) is often realized within tick interrupts.
In each tick interrupt, a set of tasks that are waiting to release new jobs, namely,
the waiting set, is inspected to determine the jobs that should be released at
this tick. Such a waiting set is sorted whenever a job has finished, by which
the release process can be efficiently achieved. However, the overhead of sorting
can vary vastly depending on the task set, which has to be taken into account
in the worst-case timing analysis. Moreover, the tick interrupt in common practices
is backed by a single hardware timer that is configured to trigger interrupts,
either with a fixed period or reconfigured to the next release time (so-called
one-shot timer). Since not necessarily at every interrupt a job will be released,
several tick interrupts might be redundant. For the one-shot timers, the reconfiguration
during runtime also incurs overheads at a variable interval. To reduce such variability
and amount of overhead, in this work, we propose\r\n LazyTick\r\n
\ which partitions the task set and distributes the subsets over multiple
timers. Specifically, we propose two job release procedures with constant operations
overhead—one for harmonic task sets and one for non-harmonic task sets. We implemented
the support for multiple hardware timers in FreeRTOS and conducted intensive experimental
evaluations. The evaluation shows that\r\n LazyTick\r\n
\ can reduce the variability in overhead by up to ≈ 5 × in peak and
≈ 3× on average in comparison to the default implementation. Additionally, the
combined overhead of the job release process is reduced by up to ≈ 6.1 × in peak
    and ≈ 3.6× on average.\r\n
"

  text: "
Abstract
\r\n
Reinforcement Learning
(RL) has emerged as a promising tool for decision-making in various applications,
particularly in uncertain environments. While its adoption in embedded systems—especially
hard real-time systems—faces challenges due to stringent timing constraints, integrating
shielding mechanisms may offer a pathway for RL to optimize its scheduling decisions,
preserving worst-case timing guarantees. This position paper shows a use case
where RL selects compliant execution versions for fault-tolerant real-time systems
while minimizing the system utilization in runtime. Furthermore, we discuss possible
directions for further exploring RL’s role in real-time systems for improved adaptability.
"
