text: We study the Fourier transform for compactly supported distributional sections
of complex homogeneous vector bundles on symmetric spaces of non-compact type
$X = G/K$. We prove a characterisation of their range. In fact, from Delorme's
Paley-Wiener theorem for compactly supported smooth functions on a real reductive
group of Harish-Chandra class, we deduce topological Paley-Wiener and Paley-Wiener-Schwartz
    theorems for sections.

text: "The recent trend towards extensive electric mobility leads to a variety of
new challenges for the engineering of future vehicle concepts. One particular
challenge is the additional weight added to the vehicle by the battery, which
stands in direct contrast to the existing customer expectation of a high driving
range. The reduction of the total vehicle weight is driven by the extensive use
of ultra-high-strength steels in thin sheet thicknesses in car body construction.
Resistance spot welding is the dominant joining process in steel-intensive lightweight
construction due to its high degree of automation, process reliability and the
associated economic efficiency.\r\nIn order to comply limitations of the space
in the vehicle body and to ensure the most efficient use of materials in lightweight
construction, joints are used that connect several sheets with a single spot weld.
This leads to new challenges for the prediction of the load-bearing capacity and
failure behaviour under crash loading. \r\nThis paper presents a systematic characterisation
of 3 sheet steel joints in order to find formulary, empirical relationships between
the load-bearing capacity of the joint and the affecting parameters.\r\nNumerical
simulations are carried out in order to clarify the causes of occurring phenomena
in experiments. For this purpose, influencing variables such as joint strength,
joint arrangement, sheet thickness, sheet strength, load type and load case on
the load bearing capacity and failure behaviour are identified.\r\nFurthermore,
the extent to which the behaviour of 2-sheet joints can be transferred to 3-sheet
joints is investigated. A formulary correlation enables a quick and inexpensive
estimates of the load-bearing capacity of 3-sheet metal connections. These models
can be used for a computer-efficient simulation of components with three layered
    spot welded joints."

  text:
Abstract
Spin‐controlled lasers are highly
interesting photonic devices and have been shown to provide ultrafast polarization
dynamics in excess of 200 GHz. In contrast to conventional semiconductor lasers
their temporal properties are not limited by the intensity dynamics, but are governed
primarily by the interaction of the spin dynamics with the birefringent mode splitting
that determines the polarization oscillation frequency. Another class of modern
semiconductor lasers are high‐β emitters, which benefit
from enhanced light–matter interaction due to strong mode confinement in low‐mode‐volume
microcavities. In such structures, the emission properties can be tailored by
the resonator geometry to realize for instance bimodal emission behavior in slightly
elliptical micropillar cavities. This attractive feature is utilized to demonstrate
and explore spin‐lasing effects in bimodal high‐β quantum
dot micropillar lasers. The studied microlasers with a β‐factor
of 4% show spin‐laser effects with experimental polarization oscillation frequencies
up to 15 GHz and predicted frequencies up to about 100 GHz, which are controlled
by the ellipticity of the resonator. These results reveal appealing prospects
for very compact, ultrafast, and energy‐efficient spin‐lasers and can pave the
way for future purely electrically injected spin‐lasers enabled by short injection
    path lengths.

  text: '
The 3D shear deformation and failure behaviour of a glass fibre reinforced
polypropylene in a shear strain rate range of γ˙=2.2×10−4 to 3.4 1s is investigated.
An Iosipescu testing setup on a servo-hydraulic high speed testing unit is used
to experimentally characterise the in-plane and out-of-plane behaviour utilising
three specimen configurations (12-, 13- and 31-direction). The experimental procedure
as well as the testing results are presented and discussed. The measured shear
stress–shear strain relations indicate a highly nonlinear behaviour and a distinct
rate dependency. Two methods are investigated to derive according material characteristics:
a classical engineering approach based on moduli and strengths and a data driven
approach based on the curve progression. In all cases a Johnson–Cook based formulation
is used to describe rate dependency. The analysis methodologies as well as the
derived model parameters are described and discussed in detail. It is shown that
a phenomenologically enhanced regression can be used to obtain material characteristics
for a generalising constitutive model based on the data driven approach.
'

text: Mechanical joining technologies like self-piercing riveting are gaining importance
with regard to environmental protection, as they enable multi-material design
and lightweight construction. A new approach is the use of high nitrogen steel
as rivet material, which allows to omit the usually necessary heat treatment and
coating and thus leads to a shortening of the process chain. Due to the high strain
hardening, however, high tool loads must be expected. Thus, appropriate forming
strategies are needed. Within this contribution, the influence of applying different
temperatures for each forming stage in a two-stage rivet forming process using
the high nitrogen steel 1.3815 is investigated. The findings provide a basic understanding
of the influence of the temperature management when forming high nitrogen steel.
For this purpose, the rivets are not formed at the same temperature in each stage,
but an elevated temperature is applied selectively. Different process routes are
investigated. First, cups are manufactured in stage 1 at room temperature, followed
by stage 2 at 200°C. Second, cups are formed in stage 1 at 200°C and used for
stage 2 at room temperature. By comparing the findings with results when applying
the same temperature in both stages, it is shown that the temperature during the
first forming operation has an effect on the forming behaviour during the second
forming stage. The required forming forces and the resulting rivet hardness can
be influenced by process-adapted temperature application. Furthermore, the causes
for the temperature impact on the residual cup thickness in stage 1 are evaluated
by a cause and effect analysis, which provides a deeper process understanding.
The thermal expansion of the tool and the billet as well as the improved forming
behaviour at 200°C are identified as the main influencing causes on the achieved
    residual cup thickness.

text: In the COVID-19 pandemic, schooling systems across all levels have been forced
into remote teaching dramatically and massively. It is critical to examine how
education practitioners and students have responded to the goals and practices
of schooling, and the progress of education equity issues in educational institutions
against the background of such significant social change. Therefore, this article
first focuses on the controversy of equity in the policy of citizen mobilization
in times of pandemic, to underline the errors of different pandemic measures.
Second, scrutinize the challenges faced by group differences in schooling in the
context of the current pandemic from the angle of educational equity. Finally,
we urge schooling systems to introduce the principle of inclusion of group differences
from the very beginning of education provision. By so doing, the existing conditions
of group differences can be recognized and the rights of different groups can
    be supported.

text: Intelligent agents interacting with humans through conversation (such as a
robot, embodied conversational agent, or chatbot) need to receive feedback from
the human to make sure that its communicative acts have the intended consequences.
At the same time, the human interacting with the agent will also seek feedback,
in order to ensure that her communicative acts have the intended consequences.
In this review article, we give an overview of past and current research on how
intelligent agents should be able to both give meaningful feedback toward humans,
as well as understanding feedback given by the users. The review covers feedback
across different modalities (e.g., speech, head gestures, gaze, and facial expression),
different forms of feedback (e.g., backchannels, clarification requests), and
models for allowing the agent to assess the user's level of understanding and
adapt its behavior accordingly. Finally, we analyse some shortcomings of current
approaches to modeling feedback, and identify important directions for future
    research.

  text: '
Abstract
Recent approaches to Explainable
AI (XAI) promise to satisfy diverse user expectations by allowing them to steer
the interaction in order to elicit content relevant to them. However, little is
known about how and to what extent the explainee takes part actively in the process
of explaining. To tackle this empirical gap, we exploratively examined naturally
    occurring everyday explanations in doctor–patient interactions (N = 11).
Following the social design of XAI, we view explanations as emerging in interactions:
first, we identified the verbal behavior of both the explainer and the explainee
in the sequential context, which we could assign to phases that were either monological
or dialogical; second, we investigated in particular who was responsible for the
initiation of the different phases. Finally, we took a closer look at the global
conversational structure of explanations by applying a context-sensitive model
of organizational jobs, thus adding a third layer of analysis. Results show that
in our small sample of conversational explanations, both monological and dialogical
phases varied in their length, timing of occurrence (at the early or later stages
of the interaction) and their initiation (by the explainer or the explainee).
They alternated several times in the course of the interaction. However, we also
found some patterns suggesting that all interactions started with a monological
phase initiated by the explainer. Both conversational partners contributed to
the core organizational job that constitutes an explanation. We interpret the
results as an indication for naturally occurring everyday explanations in doctor–patient
interactions to be co-constructed on three levels of linguistic description: (1)
by switching back and forth between monological to dialogical phases that (2) can
be initiated by both partners and (3) by the mutual accomplishment and thus responsibility
for an explanation’s core job that is crucial for the success of the explanation.
Because of the explorative nature of our study, these results need to be investigated
    (a) with a larger sample and (b) in other contexts. However, our results suggest
that future designs of artificial explainable systems should design the explanatory
dialogue in such a way that it includes monological and dialogical phases that
can be initiated not only by the explainer but also by the explainee, as both
contribute to the core job of explicating procedural, clausal, or conceptual relations
    in explanations.
'
