Das Ziel dieses Projekts ist es, die Politik und Ökonomie der Medien und der Kommunikation sowie die Kombination von Politik und Ökonomie der Medien und der Kommunikation (politische Ökonomie) zu theoretisieren und zu analysieren. Es erarbeitet Beiträge zum internationalen Forschungsfeld der Politischen Ökonomie der Kommunikation und der Medien.
Die Hauptfrage, die dieses Projekt stellt, ist die folgende:
Wie funktioniert die politische Ökonomie der Medien und der Kommunikation?
Zur Beantwortung dieser Frage wird ein Ansatz (weiter)entwickelt, der Theorie, empirische Forschung und Philosophie miteinander verbindet. Eine Vielzahl von Themen wird durch die Auseinandersetzung mit den Ansätzen klassischer und zeitgenössischer Theoretiker:innen erforscht, und deren Ansätze und Philosophien werden weiterentwickelt. Kritische Theorien und Methoden der Politischen Ökonomie der Kommunikation werden weiterentwickelt.
