<abstract lang="eng">&lt;jats:p&gt;Metallopolymers with 1D phosphorus chains are accessible from simple unstrained precursors and feature a narrow band gap associated with red-shifted absorption in the UV-vis range.&lt;/jats:p&gt;</abstract>
